8801  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The account of the cryptocurrency exchange was blocked on: April 24, 2021, 08:03:43 PM
How did I solve the problem?  I sold my account and received at least a part of the balance
Did the person who bought the account from you know what he was buying? A blocked/limited exchange account that might turn out to be useless for the buyer. or did you trick him by saying the account is in perfect order? Roll Eyes

Don't use small and unreliable exchanges with low trading volumes which list unknown alts and you wont get yourself into problems like that. I have traded on Binance, Kucoin, Huobi, Liquid, Digifinex, and many more and have never gotten into any difficulties. What did you do to get your account locked in the first place?

If you want to try a decentralized exchange that wont block your account or request KYC verification, have a look at Bisq.
8802  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there any recovery for a misplaced seed phrase on: April 24, 2021, 11:22:50 AM
Could there be a recovery option for seed phrase or a seed generation alternative where I would be allowed to generate a new seed so as to access my lost account. I believe every data online should have a means on backup and recovery. Would seed phrase act differently?
Your seed phrase is the Alfa and Omega. Everything else, such as private and public keys, and the strings we call addresses are derived from that seed. The seed has to be 100% correct for you to gain access to the same keys that protect your coins. Bitcoin is all about making you the keyholder and putting you in control of your money. If seed phrases were stored as backup for users, that would defeat the whole process. That's what banks do.

Why create a wallet for users if it doesn't have a way of helping them recover lost or stolen wallet.
That's what the seed does, and that's what the individual private keys do. It's sad that you didn't realize their importance before.

Your other questions have been answered by other users multiple times.
8803  Other / Archival / Re: The difference between the Martingale system and One-Time-Bet on: April 24, 2021, 10:59:44 AM
Using a Martingale system or any other betting pattern is easier than conducting research on the games you want to bet on. That is why some gamblers prefer to place bets using a familiar system instead of checking current team forms, head-2-head results, injuries, suspensions, weather conditions, and all other stuff that can have an influence on the outcome of a match. With Martingale, all you have to do is bet on the same team or same odds, making sure to double your bet in case you lose until you win or lose it all.
8804  Other / Meta / Re: The European Super League ( ESL) thread moved to off-topic why? on: April 24, 2021, 10:25:58 AM
My guess is that it's simply moved from there as by the looks of it, it won't be possible to bet on anything related to SuperLeague in the foreseeable future, but still it kinda fits more to Gambling Discussion thread where all other sports discussions are than in off-topic where threads go to die.
To be completely fair, the idea of the Super League isn't dead. The project hasn't vanished, it has just been put on hold for now because no one appreciated what the Top clubs tried to do. Perez said a few days ago that no club has officially asked to have their contract with the league terminated. Some more recent news suggests that the league is now working on changing the model that doesn't guarantee that the participants can't be relegated.

Nevertheless, I still see it more fitting in the Gambling boards than off-topic which is like a secondary garbage bin.
8805  Other / Meta / Re: The European Super League ( ESL) thread moved to off-topic why? on: April 24, 2021, 10:15:22 AM
@ChuckBuck
That could be the reason. The mod who moved it might have considered it to be an information thread about the league, its founders, and those opposing the project. But if we started looking at all the threads in the gambling board in that way, a lot of the content written in the threads concerning the UEFA CL, Italian Serie A, EPL, etc., would either be deleted or moved to off topic. Instead of betting, many of the posts talk about results, who scored the goals, transfer news, VAR decisions, and so on.

Stvarno ne znam kako si uspio ovako dugo bez telegrama. Ja sam dosta velik protivnik više manje svih društvenih mreža i aplikacija ali telegram mi je super. Najviše zato jer imam stvarno puno kripto kontakata u njemu, većinom ljudi s ovog foruma s kojima sam dobar.
8807  Other / Meta / Re: Rule # 7 - Signature in Profile - Allowed? on: April 24, 2021, 07:19:06 AM
The individual posts seem to have been deleted already so I cant take a look at them and provide some feedback. The one isaac_clarke22 shared is a case of begging for merits. I wonder if it was never reported or the admins don't consider it as begging.

About donation addresses in signature spaces or in OPs. I don't consider those to be a case of begging unless the person combines the addy with a soppy story of how he needs money.

One example:

The SpamBusters! Busting rule-breakers constantly
They have a donation address in the first line of the OP, but there is no begging or crying for money. I would consider it begging if there was a message saying "please send us bitcoin", we can't do our work with it".
8808  Other / Meta / Re: 15 days ban on: April 24, 2021, 06:57:21 AM
The posts hosseinimr93 shared seem to follow a certain pattern. They are not one-liners, and are just long enough to spill over to the second line. Do you have an example of a much longer post of yours that got deleted or are they all more or less the same as in the provided examples?

There isn't a standard on how long a good post should be, and there are examples where a short one-liner suffices. But if the majority or your posts look the same, they could be seen as low value and written only to fulfil a posting quota. When you post without having such thoughts in the back of your mind, each post would be different and you will naturally end up writing both short and long paragraphs.

@slackovic
8810  Economy / Gambling / Re: FORTUNEJACK.COM |Deposit 777 play with 1777 mBTC |Live Casino, Slots, Betting on: April 24, 2021, 06:30:51 AM
Nice, congrats mate i hope you are in the top 10!
I was in the TOP 3 only for the second leg matches of the Round of 16 according to the current table we can see on the site. I am not sure if those are the final results of that round because the won points are much lower compared to the previous rounds of the competition. FortuneJack hasn't made any updates for weeks and no one is saying anything. Overall, I am not close to the Top 10 and I also missed to submit my teams in at least 3 rounds in the past.

Pmalek nice job on Jackmate, what was your winning selection if you don't mind to share with us;) And yeah, agree, new layout looks a lot better for me.
I really can't remember, it was such a long time ago already. The site doesn't keep records of the team selections, does it?
8811  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Binance.com] Does the 5 attempts to enter the correct password reset? on: April 23, 2021, 05:01:32 PM
Most free email providers like Yahoo or Hotmail allows users to connect a secondary email account that can be used for recovery in case you forget your primary email's password. It is also possible to add a phone number for added security. Did you by any chance do any of those two? If you tell us what email provider you used, it would be easier for someone to find the required steps for a successful account recovery.
8812  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is the newest of Electrum or Ledger Live the best for use with hardware wallets? on: April 23, 2021, 01:13:22 PM
I use Ledger Live as a way to check my portfolio, confirm receiving addresses, and keep the wallet up-to-date. Whenever I need to send bitcoin, I do it through Electrum. You are right, there have been several changes since 3.3.8. especially when selecting UTXOs to include in your transaction. On the newer versions after selecting which UTXOs to pay from, you have to manually click on the send/pay button to continue the process. In the past, you did all this from the send tab. My memory is a bit blurry.

However, having said that... Electrum can be a bit of a nuisance if you have several Bitcoin "accounts" setup on your Ledger. Electrum can only handle one "Account" per wallet, so you'd need to create multiple wallet files (each with the appropriate account derivation path)... it's not a huge deal, but definitely not quite as easy as simply having your old "legacy", "segwit" and "native segwit" accounts all in one place like they can be in Ledger Live.
Ledger Live's limited coin control can help in those situations. I only used it once because I was in a bit of hurry. Instead of creating a new wallet with Electrum, I just did it using the LL coin control feature.
8813  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Opinions on Phoenix Wallet? on: April 23, 2021, 09:35:37 AM
Blockchair still knows the transaction, it's not confirmed, and I can just make outgoing payments Smiley
Do you feel like that opens the door for scams? Theoretically, you make a deal with someone where that person sends you cash or another crypto via an on-chain transaction, and you send him a payment via the LN where the on-chain fees are way too low. Do they mention in their documentation what are the minimum required fees, is there a minimum? Any mention how long the on-chain transaction will be broadcasted until it's finally dropped, if ever?

Maybe my logic is a bit of here.
8814  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you recommend passpharse for Trezor One? on: April 23, 2021, 09:22:30 AM
Not necessarily, imo... I read that as "we're going to do our best to make it completely open-source, but it is possible that it won't be 100% open source due to <reasons>™".
Even if it wasn't completely open-source, it wouldn't be a deal-breaker to me if I wanted to buy a Trezor device. If the reason for protecting the code is to minimize the possibility for further damage, I understand that. Ledger isn't fully open-source and that hasn't stopped knowledgeable crypto-users from purchasing their wallets. As long as the funds remain unobtainable by outside parties, the device does what it was programmed to do.
8815  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Riddles and Brain-Teasers for Bitcointalk Members (Newbies – Members) on: April 23, 2021, 09:07:25 AM
There are a few ways to spot a fake admin or support member of a Telegram group. Looking for the star icons is one of the ways. Telegram admins have special tags next to their names. These tags will say owner, admin, staff, etc. Some groups mention the names of all their staff in the group description or the pinned post.

The way to spot a scammer is by looking at the username in his profile. Scammers try to impersonate the admins by using the same or similar name to that of the admin. If the admin is Pmalek, the scammer will use Pnalek or Pmaiek or something similar. Because the scammers can't use the identical usernames of the people they are trying to impersonate, they often leave the username field empty and fill out the Bio field with the correct username instead. So if you spot someone named Binance Official Support, check if that is indeed the username or the Bio of the profile.

Another thing to keep in mind. A scammer who impersonates admins in the Binance Telegram group, wont be a member of that group. Why? Because he will be discovered, reported, and banned. They follow the discussions without joining the groups because Telegram allows you to contact anyone via PM even if you are not part of the same group. If you have joined a Binance Telegram group, and you are talking to a real admin of that group, it's only logical that both you and that admin are members of the group and have that group in common. You can test that with any group by clicking on someone's user profile and checking the field that shows which groups you have in common. When you do that with a scammer, you will notice he is not a member of the group where you seek help.

And always remember that admins won't PM you first even if you seek help. They will talk to you in public, and suggest that you PM them in case you need help.

Marvelman is correct. Any party can delete the complete PM exchange between two users. Telegram is not suitable to engage in trades because any proof you might have on the other party, can be deleted at anytime. That is what Lisa did when she received the money from Marcus. There is no such thing as a wallet activation fee or exchange account activation. Anyone who request such things is trying to scam you.
8816  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Riddles and Brain-Teasers for Bitcointalk Members (Newbies – Members) on: April 22, 2021, 08:05:20 PM
Anyone can set up a fake Telegram account and post anything they want. It's difficult to say whether the person offering assistance is legit or not.
There are a few ways to differentiate a fake and genuine support member or admin of a Telegram channel. Marcus talked with someone whose profile said "Binance Official Support", but where was that written and how will he know that he is talking with a staff/admin of the channel?

What I believe happened here is that Lisa is not a Binance support staff member and she tricked Marcus into paying a fake activation fee.
After that, she deleted the entire conversation from the Telegram app to cover her tracks.
Good. She deleted the conversation on her end, but will Marcus still have access to the Telegram chat on his end?

I'm not sure if Marcus' account will be activated after this, but Marcus will have to find that out for himself through official support channels on the Binance platform.
Is it a common thing to pay activation fees for accounts on crypto exchanges or wallet software?

I've always been under the assumption that the chip was closed source.
I thought that the new chip Trezor is building together with Tropic Square will be completely open-source. But pay attention to the last section of Introducing Tropic Square — Why transparency matters. I overlooked this the first time I read the announcement. Apparently, it's not going to be 100% open-source.

Here is a quote from the announcement:
Quote
Together, we are building a new company: Tropic Square, the creators of the next TRuly OPen Integrated Circuit. This new entity’s purpose is to deliver a chip as open-source as possible.

As open-source as possible means that certain critical parts of the code wont be made public.
8819  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Opinions on Phoenix Wallet? on: April 22, 2021, 02:43:01 PM
The fees you used to open the channel were quite low. Even two ago days when you made that transaction, 13 sat/vByte looks like a fee that would have below the purging limit. What if your opening transaction gets purged from the mempool? We are currently at a 18-19 sats purging threshold. Did your on-chain transaction confirm in the meantime? Are you able to use the channel for outgoing payments already?

Then, we have bitcoinrush.io a casino that was very good back in the day (they also had a sportsbook) here is the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=228243.msg54075221#msg54075221

They closed the site more than a year ago and they kept all the balance from lots of players (including mine).

Please, guys, don't share things just to share.
That's the casino that was mentioned in the article I was referring to in my previous post. Like I said, I don't know about that platform and had no idea if it was still operational. All I did was check if they had an ANN on this forum and they did. After that I checked the trust rating of the thread starter and he currently has 1 positive trust with no negatives from DT members (+1 / =0 / -0). But you are right, the casino is dead. The article was written over 1 year ago, hence the confusion.
