Looking at all these numbers for RVN in this thread, unless one doesn't care about power efficiency, makes me think you can get more out of a 3080ti.  I'm getting ~0.19mh/watt RVN from a lowly 3060 (non ti) LHR=21.8mh/115watt software.  For me many combinations netted .15-.17mh/watt, few gave current efficiency.

Actually raven may be best bet for it at the moment.

I do wonder if better eth tweaks can be done.

I get a constant flux of 76-80 mh see screen shots.

285  watts for gpu
325  watts for rig
330  k-watt meter

8822  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: September 03, 2021, 10:44:45 AM
I ran ergo over night

core  -200
ram   1400
watts  324
mh.    254.   this is around 5-6 in earnings

I am going to run eth now.

core   -200
ram   1400
watts   285.  whole rig says 325 I will also check kwatt meter

lhr 70
temp 52 c

I will play with core and ram

So this does 75-80 mh

325 x 24 = 7.8 kwatts summer power rate adjusted for ac is 20 cents or 1.56 or 1.60 rounded up

75-80 mh is 77 x 0.0878 = $6.76 or about $5.16- $5.20 net  my partner paid bigly for this card  the combo was more than 2.5k for the card and a good monitor.  that is a 500 day roi.

I have seen 3080tis as low as 1400  much better roi.  the strix is premium but I would not buy another.
8823  Economy / Speculation / Re: Seriously. How much market cap can Bitcoin absorb from other assets? on: September 03, 2021, 03:52:44 AM

I think the vast majority of us on this forum would agree that Bitcoin is better than gold as a store of value and that it would make sense to absorb its market cap. If we have Bitcoin with a market cap of about $1T and gold with a market cap of about $11T, we see it quite likely that Bitcoin in the not too distant future will have a $10T market cap and gold $2T.

And why do you think the so-called gold market cap will crash 5 times?

First thing is that half of that so-called market cap is not in gold that stays in some vault in a bank and is in jewelry, are we going to seriously see a drop in demand for jewelry just because bitcoin is a better store of value? The cheapest engagement ring still is above 2 grams, multiply that by the population of the earth and you end up at least 3 times the gold reserves of the united states, even if we assume half of the world population is way too poor to afford one there are plenty who would compensate for an entire region of the city.

But leaving that aside, in order for gold to lose 5 times that value it would need people to massively sell it and this is just like bitcoin, if you have people who believe in the value of something it doesn't make sense for them to sell so cheaply and 5 times below the price they've bought in. And now the most important part, how are you going to convince ordinary people who don't care that much about technology that something they know has value, something they knew for a long time and something it's advertised all over the world as being of value that is less valuable than a bunch of numbers in an app? Not to mention that you can't have bitcoin plated rims, no matter how much you try.

Total global wealth is around USD 420 trillion  (https://www.credit-suisse.com/about-us-news/en/articles/media-releases/global-wealth-report-2021-202106.html)
Do you really believe that a quarter of all the wealth created in the world is going to be absorbed by Bitcoin?

Hihi, imagine this
People dump 50% of the shares in companies, land, houses, everything that makes wealth, and buy bitcoin with that money. What is the result? You will have half of the value in wealth and twice the value in currency. Guess where that leads to! Grin Not a pretty place!

Coin is very easily fully crash-able. it simply is in abundance according to this:

https://www.techtimes.com/articles/263854/20210806/nasa-plans-study-mine-goldmine-asteroid-worth-quadrillions-2026.htm

which is a follow up of this

https://www.foxnews.com/science/nasa-headed-towards-giant-golden-asteroid-that-could-make-everyone-on-earth-a-billionaire

So rare and precious metals may not be so much in 10-15 years.

A lot depends on easy space travel. Maybe a magnetic elevator system to the moon.

And really cheap metal happens before boomers die off. Figure boomers are all dead myself included by 2071.

I am thinking That those astroids will be harvested in 2030-2035. I would be 73-78 years old. So I simply do not see long term value in any precious metals at all. Even in my life time.

Remember the moon’s gravity is 1/6 that of earth. so landing pieces of asteroid there is feasible .

whether a magnetic levitational setup from earth to moon is doable how on earth do I know.  But betting all my money on metals staying high in value is dumb as fuck.

I still have coins silver platinum just not as much as I did.

BTW

history backs me up on this.

Aluminum dropped price when tech made it easy to get.

stainless steel dropped in price. can't find a good chart for it.

but aluminum dropped a lot. 17 a pound in 1851 to under 50 cents now. add in inflation and it got crushed.

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/11/aluminum-was-once-one-of-the-most-expensive-metals-in-the-world/382447/

usa gold price in 1851 was 20 bucks an oz it would be 75 cents an oz  if it drops like aluminum dropped.

And it was all due to tech advances .
8824  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 03:07:08 AM
So I am doing ergo overnight at nicehash

and eth does well

and raven is decent

So all 3 coins are okay. but not great.

ergo does about 5-6 a day at 285 watts

eth does about 5-6 a day at 285 watts

raven does about 6-7 at 330 watts.
8825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: September 03, 2021, 02:52:25 AM
Rained like a mofo .

I am caring for a sick bro in law so driving from New York To New Jersey is now a 3 times a week event.  $45 in fucking tolls each time.

So My track record is I got lucky with Doge and with Xec. Not enough for me to be a tout for hire.

Far too many misses. Also I have come to understand 6 month 12 month 18 month mine and hold on shot in the dark coins can be very good or a bust.  I did very poorly with a long commitment to bitcoin interest. I just have been lucky with these two coins.

Speaking of luck or lack of luck My partner won a newegg shuffle and paid a stupid high number for an asus strix 3080ti.

So who has a 3080ti and what are they mining with it. I can get 53-60 on ETH depending on power I toss at it.

200 watts = 53 mh
255 watts = 60mh

lol miner and  smos.

my settings are

+10 core
+1200 ram
200 watts

70 temp
70 fans

try using nbminer 39.1 or 39.2.

My 3070ti FE will do 54 mhash @180 watts with -lhr 70 on nbminer 39.1

I haven't set up my 3080ti FE yet (working on more pressing matter of moving half my rigs to a local data center)

yep I shift back and forth from 76-80 mh with lhr 70 setting
8826  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 02:38:02 AM
my 3080ti's still in ergo (265mh at 280w)so can't say anything concrete for ETH mining besides nbminer lhr sauce is still new.

what pool does ergo?
8827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 02:15:47 AM
try nbminer with the lhr unlock(a percentage) for ETH, i did ergo for months with the 3080ti, ergo did 5$ to 18$, good returns.

tested lhr 100 on nbminer i've seen 70mhs at around 130watts, lhr 70 is 75mhs at 230watts...(watts info is nbminer software)(stability not yet tested).

play with core clocks and power limit (turn these down) but the the memory clocks should be clocked higher.

so my nb is

 -a eth -o stratum+tcp://ethereum.viabtc.com:3333 -u phil.3080ti -lhr 70 --api 127.0.0.1:22333

73.1-75.5 -78.68 mh so far pulling  275 watts

core  -200
ram  1000
power 275

hey this is good.

So it shifts from like 73 to 78

dropping to 250 watts. and it tanks to 61-63- 65.

c -200
r 1000
w  250 has 61-65

c -200
r 1300
w 250 has 63-66

c-200
r 1300
w 275 has 74-78

c -200
r 1400
w 285 has 76 - 79

that is decent 76 x 8.3 cents = $6.31. power at 285 is about 8 kwatts or 1.60 with 20 cent power or 80 cents with 10 cent power

so 4.71 to 5.31 a day after power
8828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 01:55:29 AM
If anyone has working octopus for smos let me know.

at the moment it looks like 330-335 watts gives about  52-53 mh of raven which is close to 7 bucks a day.

power use would be 8kwatts

for now

core-----------ram---------------watts--------------hash ----temp---- wall watts one card rig all parts.
-200............1000..................325...................50.49......57c.........395-401

really have not found  change in hash much for core or ram

but 50.49 hash is good.

I suppose 52-53 for 10 more watts is better. but I will run this over night to see if it trails off.
8829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 01:14:32 AM
Yes I have 1300 core and 2000 mem, also on rvn, again a 3060.  I’m in Hive with that card but I think if you put in large numbers for core it’ll switch to absolute core. I kept a running spreadsheet and iterated maybe 25 times to find the most efficient combo. I went from 130 pl to now it runs at around 115 watts, I brought pl down to 120 but it stays lower all the time.

It is a decent raven card I played some more and get 50mh with it which is about $6.50 it is pulling 325 watts to do it.

core-----------ram---------------watts--------------hash ----temp---- wall watts one card rig all parts.
-300............1000..................325.....................50
-300............1000..................330.....................51.38...57c..........399-402 flux read.
-300............1000..................335.....................52.68...58c...........403-406 flux read.

1400...........2000.................290.......................40
1400...........2000.................295.......................42
1400...........2000.................300.......................43
1400...........2000.................305.......................44
1400...........2000.................310.......................46
1400...........2000.................315.......................47
1400...........2000.................320.......................49.03...
1400...........2000.................325.......................49.35... 57c
1400...........2000.................330.......................50.44... 57c
1400...........2000.................335.......................52.49... 58c.......403
.
Looks like 320-335 is top end power draw on the strix. and basically a bit more numbers at 330 and 335

very interesting core and ram does not much . Hash all seems to be power based.
8830  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 12:55:10 AM
Phil have you tried absolute core clock instead of the offset?  It brought power use on my 3060 down around 10-15%.

Just started fucking with the card.

so I am learning what I can.

so are you doing raven and absolute clock?

if so how do I set it in smos?

8831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 12:36:45 AM
So my partner got lucky or unlucky on the newegg shuffle he won a 3080ti asus strix.

I can do 57 mh to 60 mh on eth with it.

So I said f that lets try raven.

I am doing 42.85  which is about  13.4 cents x 42.85 =  $5.74 a day

settings are

core
-200

ram
1600

power
300

temp
60

fan
72

so using 300 watts is 7 kwatt a day at 20 cents = 1.40

5.74-1.40 = $4.34 profit a day so more than a year to pay this card.

Eth would be at best 60 x 7.7 = 4.62 earned but power used is less  5 kwatts at 20 cents is 1 dollar

so 4.62-1 = 3.62 a day

Cant get octopus running on smos do not know why.

I would not mind making a thread about

Eth
RAVEN
Octopus

settings etc.  prefer smos setups but all welcome.

feel free to post info.

... when the hurricane arrives they'll be like the Tesla owners in Louisiana right now, electric cars haven't been market tested in hard times and are a fragile technology dependent on lots of infrastrucure and external support with many moving parts

I mean gas stations dont work without electricity either...

Well if you own a Tesla  you should have solar and a generator.

A good generator is :

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Pulsar-12-000-Watt-9-500-Watt-Electric-Start-Gas-and-Propane-Dual-Fuel-Portable-Generator-for-Jobsite-RV-Home-CARB-Compliant-PG12000B/308687064?

it is propane or gas.  Soooo propane stores for as long as 18 months.

The one above is lower cost. But it will charge a Tesla and it will run a lot of your home.

I own a lessor version as I do not have a Tesla.

... okay so costing out an electric vehicle needs to include a sizable back-up genset (>6kW) and solar power too, anything else, a huge lithium-ion? ... what if you're in an area with shitty sun coverage?

... sounds like lots of externalised .... but, but, but ... kind of costs building up there

because you don't read what I wrote.

gas sucks it does not store well.

propane is fine.

diesel as a last resort.

Now I own a gas car.

but I own a propane/gas generator.

basically the propane works after 14 months of storage with zero issues.

gas does not.

... actually many do, they have gas/diesel genset backups, which they can run for a log time since they are a fuel depot

... imagine you are in Louisiana right now which would you rather have, a 4wd gas-guzzling pick-up with jerry cans in the garage and a full tank .. or a Tesla?

Tesla and the generator I linked along with a few 20 lb cans of propane.

gasoline sucks as it does not store well if I had my way you would see almost no gas.

diesel  or propane store a long time

gas is shit.

notice I am not anti fossil fuel I am anti gas

Im new to crypto mining and it's just been few weeks already, I'm going away on vacation just few days is it safe to leave my rig running? I can monitor through Nicehash app

Good question.

Best short answer is maybe.

Long answer I need a lot of detail.

a) what is the power supply make and model
b) what is a kill  a watt meter reading.
c) does the app allow you to shut the rig off?
d) what is your power in your home.
e) 120 volt is weaker 240 volt is stronger.
f) is your rig pushing the psu?
g) is your rig pushing the power circuit
H) do you run windows and nicehash app?
I} do you push the gpus hard

there are more questions to be asked.

If all are done low risk.  than the chance of burning down the house is low risk.

But if you run windows runaway thermals happen.  Ie the cards go right up to full power . not the low clocks set.

runaway thermals are dangerous.

Bitconnect, finally in the news. Those around in 2017 will remember that lending coin that wrecked many, so to say.

https://beincrypto.com/sec-lawsuit-bitconnect-founder-role-crypto-fraud/

When I was in Thailand my wife was selling BTC on localbitcoins. One guy mentioned that he wanted about $2k worth so he could put it into Bitconnect. I told her to explain to him that it was a scam and to cancel the order. She did, the guy decided he'd hold off on it.

And completely unrelated, a story came out today about how the Thai navy stopped paying their paid trolls which caused them to come out and tell people about their paid troll program to pressure the navy to pay them. When we were being chased by the navy we had the added bonus of those troll bastards attacking us on social media in the most vile ways possible.

Also, just 2 weeks ago news came out about how their police were torturing someone accused of a crime to get some money out of him, the guy ended up dying with a plastic bag over his head with video released of it and a full description of events by one of the police officers that went rogue. People told me I should just turn myself in (those same trolls kept telling me to turn myself in, that everything would be fine). I was known to have a lot of bitcoin, wanted for "attacking Thailand" (essentially) and they were assuring me I'd be "safe". I definitely would not be alive today had I not fled the country.

This is why I don't hold ETH.

If Mr V is grabbed in any country and held as an enemy of the "state" ETH will be shattered.

With BTC more then one person has been vanished and honey badger carries on.
