8821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best AltCoin to invest right now? on: June 03, 2017, 11:59:43 AM
Guys, I'm looking for the for best AltCoin to invest right now?

I was thinking of "Etherium" but let me ask here first, perhaps I may get a better solution.

Which Altcoin do you thing is best to invest in now based on it usage, stats and potential?

Thank you,

First of all move this to Alt sections. Then I feel you should choose Bitcoin instead. However you can go for ethereum or Monoroe but always remember it's a alt. Ether is lot in news so that's a popular choice, but do yourr study well and I am sure you will get more opinion in the alt section, though I don't invest in any alt so my opinion towards it is biased, make a good choice
8822  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if you are just investing in Bitcoin now, you're an early adopter or innovator on: June 03, 2017, 10:28:13 AM
Sadly most of us fall in late majority and late laggards including me, and to believe my bad luck I was offered Bitcoin in 2011 and 2013 and I decided to walk away, without even seeing them and now look where they are. Ps we already crossed moon, next stop is Mars let's hope we get there sooner than later. But I do want to know how are you sampling the data, there no poll or how did you reach a % could you elaborate on that point? Ps which stage are you?
8823  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: That moment when you buy 1BTC at $2500 on: June 03, 2017, 09:50:34 AM
That moment when you buy 1BTC at $2500, and then 3 days later someone buys it at $2000. But I'm guessing that it's the risk involved in investing, so what do I do now? Sell? Or hold on them?

well iI know what you are thinking, should I sell it but what if you sell and it goes to 3000$, what I can suggest is you can do average and that's the best part of it. Say it goes down buy and average is, x +x/2 and that becomes your price so that means when you sell you get a higher price. That's the best part buy at every dip may be not full, but little and enjoy the benefits, I don't think you should be worried so much you shall get your capital and profits back. Just be calm and wait the bull run shall continue once again.
8824  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Reveals Plans To Make Its Own National Cryptocurrency on: June 03, 2017, 05:30:13 AM
Quote
Russia is making its own blockchain currency. According to the Russian News Agency, the chairwoman of the Russian Central Bank announced regulators now agree national cryptocurrencies are the future.  “After our pilot projects we will understand what system we could use in our case for our national currency," chairwoman Olga Skorobogatova told the crowd at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. However, it’s still unclear how Russian cryptocurrency would live alongside global blockchain tokens like bitcoin and ether.

Over the past few months, Russia has moved to legalize and regulate cryptocurrency trading. Skorobogatova previously said an outright ban on bitcoin and currencies of its ilk would be infeasible. Unconfirmed reports from Russian news aggregators claimed on Friday that Herman Gref, the CEO of Russia’s Sberbank, will help develop a “Russian Bitcoin,” to serve as “the only cryptocurrency freely available [cryptocurrency] for sale and purchase.”

Earlier this year, Gref said at a conference Russia could have industrial-scale blockchain deployment by 2019. But according to Reuters, Russian authorities have historically been skeptical about bitcoin, associating it with money laundering and terrorism. Treating bitcoin as parallel currency is currently illegal in Russia. Only time will tell how regulators will treat competing cryptocurrencies as the new policies take shape.

Elvira Nabiullina, governor of the Russian Central Bank, said the Kremlin does not plan to make bitcoin itself a legal tender. "We don't consider that bitcoin can be considered as a virtual currency. It's more digital assets with the regulation of assets," she told CNBC.

Despite the uncertainties, many Russian bitcoin traders are celebrating. “Thousands of people are taking part of this [blockchain] movement, you see a conference in Moscow almost every week. You see Russian blockchain media with big traffic,” said Alexey Antonov from Moscow, a financial advisor at the Russian Supercomputer Organized by Network Mining. SONM plans to launch their initial coin offering in June and make blockchain technology without hash-based traditional cryptocurrency mining.

Antonov said he is excited for Russia to make a sort of crypto-ruble. “I’m glad the Central Bank of Russia established some regulation and their own cryptocurrency,” Antonov told International Business Times. “We think that in Russia there will be some official currency, it will be better for all of us, because we’ll have a method to transfer money from our blockchain companies. It’s better than nothing.”

In the near future, Antonov said blockchain could help regular Russian citizens and businesses, not just the tech-savvy startup community, by simplifying small business loans. “Obviously, it will be very regulated,” he said. “Maybe we can store our money and pay our taxes legally, it would be great. Right now you can’t spend bitcoin or exchange it for ruble.”

Russia isn’t the only one making a national cryptocurrency. Both China and the Palestinian Monetary Authority recently announced they too plan to make national cryptocurrencies. Meanwhile, Reuters reported Japan and South Korea are working on ways to recognize cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, integrating decentralized blockchain tender into their national monetary systems. It looks like Russia will be the next government to usher its blockchain community out of the shadows into a cryptographic economy.

Antonov said he thinks Russian government officials are tuned in to the broader blockchain landscape. “They are really good at understanding what’s going on in our crypto-world,” he said.

http://www.ibtimes.com/russia-bitcoin-news-country-plans-make-its-own-national-cryptocurrency-2547168

If I remember right, iceland tried to create its own national crypto currency years ago: aurora coin.

As an american it pains me to see every country in the world be more progressive and innovative than we are.

I constantly feel like america is run by the least intelligent people in the world.

Fools who could never see an advantage or benefit in using crypto the way that russia can.

USA is falling behind other nations in every way as a result of our poor leadership and the extremely narrow minded and closed minded views of those who hold positions of power. The SEC which hinders innovation and progress by refusing a bitcoin ETF is a prime example of it.

I feel your pain mate, I am not at all surprised to see Russia do this, for quite a while there was a buzz something like this was about to happen, what surprises me is why isn't USA doing something, it's the biggest super power and look it's doing absolutely nothing, it should have been pioneer in taking this technology and should have made huge advancement with it, I am yet waiting for President to Elect that we accept Bitcoins! Let's make America great and let's give Bitcoin power to people, if he succeeds in it, then it shall be simply awesome. Japan adopted it, Russia did it, I hope next Is USA.
8825  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I always lose all my tokens and btc on gambling~ on: June 02, 2017, 04:43:06 PM
I guess, gambling is not actually for me.
I kinda feel bad on all the tokens wasted on gambling but it's kinda my "when I'm bored" hobby.
Do you guys have any tips on how to not to lose all you tokens on gambling?

By not gambling lol, see op when you gamble you either win or Loose, you need to decide whether what's important to you the risk and then winning or keeping your coins and tokens as it is. See if you can't afford to loose at all, then don't play there no way to keep your coins and token safe and yet win. I feel you would be uncomfortable to loose, hence would advise you to refrain from playing and then loosing. If you yet decided to play make a safe and sound strategy and then go ahead with it. Good luck be safe playing out there.

Cranky guy Paul Craig Roberts likes BTC too:

NONE of the above is particularly hard reading, but shows BTCis getting more attention.

[Edited for bad link]

Welll it's about time that this was supposed to happen, Bitcoin popularity is at a life time high. Every one wants that coin called Bitcoin. The people who had stayed away from it or called it scam are the ones wanting a piece of it. It's obvious logic that these media houses are catching on to it, they will gain some good traffic to their sites, channels which would not have easily come. Good to see that bitcoin is on the move, sooner or later who knows even the white house may accept it.
8827  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did Satoshi Advertise Bitcoin ?? on: June 02, 2017, 03:21:34 PM
Back in the days when there was Bitcoin and just Satoshi testing it, how did other early adopters of bitcoins came to know about it? Did he advertise about btc somewhere to attract people's attention to this new technology? How did bitcoin users initially rose from zero to millions ?

I don't really remember seeing any adds, all I remember is that he had tested it as a payment gateway, soon more people heard, I believe through oral publicity or references, and then he was here to on this very forum, so maybe he put up threads to make people aware, that's the only way I see that he would have done it, cause how would he be annomoys if he openly advertised it, cause the whole purpose of Bitcoin was not to know who hold it, and I guess this feature also brought many people to use it.
8828  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think ISIS uses Bitcoin? on: June 02, 2017, 06:04:52 AM
We all know that Bitcoin is also popular to criminals because they can use it without exposing their identity. It will be more convenient to them to use Bitcoin so that they can hide their identity. Do you think that terrorist groups like ISIS use it for their transactions?

Maybe they will reply to you, I am sure they will be active here on this forum. Op how in the world can give a answer whether they use or not, there is no way to find out if they use, however since I haven't heard any news them demanding money in Bitcoins, I don't feel they do. But then again they could have had agents who do it for them, we can never find out this, until one of them is caught and admits to this kind of deals. Anyways hope they do not use it. Otherwise people will go berserk, and will think every btc user is linked to Isis

8830  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens in future to your BTC if they are stored on hard wallet ? on: June 01, 2017, 05:56:22 PM
Any ideas what could happen to your BTC holdings if your storing them on an offline hard wallet and want to sell them 5-10 years later? Would there be code issues where the BTC you have now will not be recognized or cashable at that that time ?

Im curious because I bought a hard wallet but have no idea how usable the BTC version i have today will be in the future?

I don't think there will be any difference to your coins, I feel your coins will be more secured in a hard wallet cause you will be owing your private key and that's very important in times of future, no one can take away your coins then and if you are referring to segwit, I don't think it will be cause any real problem to you. You may peacefully keep your coins safe and reap the benefits. However keep a eye on its price and any important announcements.
8831  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: user to user betting on: June 01, 2017, 12:31:34 PM
any sites out and around that are popular?

Im looking to do micro betting on outcomes we can deem are guaranteed fair and not relying on knowing how to verify provably fair.

No I haven't heard or seen any of such site's and it would be absolute madness if a site implements this. How in the world would they make profit? They would end up in looses, plus if one user does not pay, the site would be termed as a scam, so no that's a stupid idea and I would not bet with such sites as this are not trust worthy to me, would recommend you to stay away from such sites or methods as it won't have good results.
8832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1st and forward effect on current holdings on: June 01, 2017, 12:25:42 PM
Simple two questions, any advice as to whether to be concerned to either transfer the coins to a hard wallet from Coinbase prior to the Aug 1st or not really needed?
2nd, is this Aug 1st situation going to kill the value of Bitcoin?

Another day another story, this has happened in the past, they shouted end of Bitcoin, it will spilt and blah, don't we all know what happened? Bitcoin stood strong as it was and it shall always be strong, I don't see anything happening to Bitcoin in August 1 except that it may just have a price hike lol, I am not really worried about what may happen. I am pretty convinced that all will be good and that it shall be a positive year for Bitcoin. I feel you should also stay calm, and if there a dip buy and collect more that's what my plan will be.
8833  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 01, 2017, 09:58:38 AM
@vella85 It is going to be an interesting start for an international tournament and we have some easy pickings in this tournament and i am sad that my favorite site is gone now to wage a bet,i have found an alternative to wage a parlay for all those easy matches to earn a good profit.England Australia South Africa and India are looking strong and we can see a good battle and anyone could win this tournament.

Infact first match could be interesting and also could be a game changer if Bangladesh can beat England. England is on 5th Rank in ODI and Bangladesh is on 6th. They have some good players as well and if they play as a unit they could upset England today and take the match on their side. Lets wait and see.

Bangladesh has won only one match in it's champion's trophy history, they got a good chance of increasing that record. English players are not in a great form and Bangla tigers can pull this off.
One day internationals are my favorite for betting and the season has started. Good luck everyone
Well, cricket is quite loved by most gamblers because of the winning it provides compared to any other games. In the past I have often picked odds of Bangladesh and lost. This happens because Bangladesh plays good in the start and the intermediate time the players make it bit tough with fall of wickets and the end players most of the time don't give a fight back causing the match fail and a loss for the supporters.

Yes, what lacks in Bangladesh players is consultancy, if they start losing wickets then they'll fall like a pack of cards.
A slow start from Bangla tigers right now hope they'll get a competitive score. Let's see.

I don't think Bangla players will create any upset today, Pakistan are a strong team, and Bangladesh has been not at all consistent, the way India demolished them in the warm up games shows that they are yet not ready to cause any major upset, though I would love to see them cause a upset in the tournament. They really are playing ok, I do hope it turns out to be a interesting match ahead. Otherwise it shall be a cake walk for Pakistan which will indeed be boring for all of us, plus there won't be any attractive rates to watch the game for.
8834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminality and Bitcoin on: June 01, 2017, 06:49:27 AM
https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/01/23/bitcoin-playing-an-increased-role-in-crime-europol-says/

Would you believe that the existence of bitcoin has increased the number of criminality in  some countries in the world. This is the issue that was being thrown by the EuroPol and the UK Metropolitan Police. According to them bitcoin has played a huge role on the increasing criminality in their area. They added that a huge number of cybercriminals were using bitcoins in their activities.

This just shows that as bitcoin develops both advantages and disadvantages will tag along.
Stupid people linking Bitcoin to crime is absurd. Do they mean to say crime was not being conducted before Bitcoin? Of course it was and this is just a plain excuse from their part as they are not efficient to do work. And I feel banks and all are promoting this, as they yet fear Bitcoins which is a sad reality, but I do not think that bitcoin name shall suffer because of this. They will fall flat and Bitcoin shall stand strong as usual.
8835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Give your child/ren a bright future! on: June 01, 2017, 06:45:42 AM
To all parents and soon to be parents out there,

Plan for your children or future children by saving Bitcoin for them. Buying them bit by bit would be a great investment for the future of your kids. I am saying that you must have a new wallet for your kids so that when they come at the right age, you can give them that wallet and imagine how bright their future will be. You can hold bitcoin for their education, life plans, or whatever you think of.

I believe that if you start storing bitcoin for them now, a bright future is ahead of them  Wink

This sounds like those commercials selling insurance and investment policies, but I like the idea. It's something that I had long been thinking about. Accordingly I made three wallets and I spilt what ever I earn to my personal spending, my wife and kids and my parents. So in near future if it grows and it surely will grow, I am sure we all can enjoy life and be sure that we made the right decision. I am sure everyone will implement this idea as it's safe, and if you do implement make sure the people for whom you do are aware of it.
8836  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS TRAVELING PLACES!!! on: June 01, 2017, 04:57:48 AM
LEGALIZATION OF BITCOIN EVERYWHERE IN THE NEAR FUTURE

SAVE SAVE SAVE!!!
BITCOIN WILL SOON OVERTAKE BANKS AND OTHER NOTABLE CURRENCIES IN THE WORLD.
I HAVE SAVED UP TO ALMOST A 0.4 BTC AND STILL YEARNING FOR MORE THAN EVEN 1BTC.
BUT DOES ANYONE COME TO REALISE IF BITCOINS WILL BE CLOSED SO I DON'T INVEST ALL MY MONEY INTO BITCOINS?

Is it the latest trend, ask one question in title, then give a view and then again change the view. Anyways of course Bitcoin will be accepted sooner by all countries it's a matter of if not when. No it won't ever come to an end, and if you want to earn more do some jobs, or sell your skills, or move to Japan they may donate you some satoshi's to make your rich lol. Op just relax and make merry with Bitcoins, the reason why no one is putting entire money in Bitcoin is we need Fiat for other expenses also. So wait for the bull run to begin again, I am positive it shall rise and make us rich again.
8837  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 THIS WEEK 105BTC GOES TO ASH AND 75BTC TO SOOP! 🎰🎰🎰 on: May 31, 2017, 05:54:14 PM

That's nice, something fresh in the site it's really nice to have these games as this will give the users a chance to try out new games and spend more time at the site, can't wait to try out these games.

Hey guys,

Sorry for the issues. Blockchain is getting too spammy, we already had 0.002BTC per kilo for the fees and covered them from our own pocket, but even this amount is not enough. Unfortunately I can not set dynamic fees for users as I'm traveling by work until 3rd of June, so I've just bumped fees to 0.003BTC per kilo. Also site fees have been bumped from 0.0002 to 0.0005. I hope that upcoming HF and SegWit will solve it.

PS: As soon as I get back we will add on-site exchange back Wink

Regards,
Alex.

How about grouping withdrawals and processing them once in 5 minutes or once in 10 minutes, the fees would be lowered.
Sadly SegWit won't solve the problem for the coins generated before the SegWit activation. Maybe lightning can be the sollution.

I apparently missed that event ! the on-site exchange, will be following this.

Thanks for the update Alex, everyone is aware of the current btc fees scenario so I guess no one will complain, it's a fair solutions and as always shows they care about the members. Thanks once again.
8838  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How Bitcointalk Escrow Works on: May 31, 2017, 04:52:23 PM
People have been telling me to use bitcointalk escrow and I have been denying their request, telling them I prefer Localbitcoins escrow

Please I need to know how escrow works here for Bitcoin

You are on a bitcointalk.org forum and you want to look at local Bitcoin, you are really not good at handling Bitcoins then. Anyways coming to your questions escrow here works, in a way that you send your coins to a reputed escrow dealer. For me Yahoo62278 is one of the most trusted guys, there are many but for me he's the go to go guy, cause he's active literally each hour, though he has not got escrow thread, he does. You need to pm him. For more escrow dealers just type escrow and you will get them. But be careful if you are not selecting a reputed dealer. So in short you send coins to escrow dealer, then when the deal is complete he release the funds. Oh yes one important thing they charge fees, nothing is free here. Being a newbie all will ask for escrow.
8839  Economy / Economics / Re: The fluctuation in pricing.. on: May 31, 2017, 04:00:53 AM
is creating a wall that makes it harder for BTCto be a universal economic currency. Stores may take 1BTC for a product and in the AM that 1BTC could be valued at .08BTC. Obviously theres a ton of positives to this happening I think more than negatives. I for one hope it does though because USD is getting old Smiley

What are you trying to write, first you put up questions on the price fluctuations, then you show it could be bad business, then again you put its good. Look op price fluctuations happens due to demand and supply. Normally all transactions are done at a fixed rate, so if there a increase or decrease no one can help it. No risk no gain. USD is not that strong any more yes, currently due to trump policies it's weak, I expect Bitcoin to be strong as usual and continue for long. Keep buying at every dip that's the only way to work out this price fall.
8840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was it due to Ransomware? on: May 30, 2017, 09:13:02 AM
So I have just heard that the pump or rise in bitcoin value was due to the recent Ransomware attack. And after the recent drop, it makes sense too, I mean the price went up considerably as the demand of bitcoin went up, and now probably they are cashing in their rewards and hence the value is going down.
What do you think?

I disagree 👎, Bitcoin price had nothing to do with ransomeware, it's got a bad name due to it. Bitcoin price work on a simple rule of demand and supply. So the ransomeware coincided with the high demand period hence the price hike, and the existing users sold to cash out making a huge profits hence the fall. No effect of ransomeware, the funny point is people are not talking about ransomeware any more, Bitcoin taken the centre stage and that's not good cause it's not for right reasons. You can study more on the economic section.
