8841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Newbie (me) trying to invest in a project on: September 27, 2017, 12:35:24 PM
Since you are new to the forum I can understand how tough it is to get used to the forum and the vast knowledge of crypto it has to offer. I suggest you get you bitcoin and ethereum wallets first.

For bitcoin I suggest Electrum wallet for a desktop one. It is the one I use but there are several other ones as well. For Ethereum I suggest Mist wallet as a desktop solution or MyEtherWallet.com which is a web wallet. Remember to keep the secure and NEVER share your Electrum seed words or private keys with anyone. Some ICOs run on Waves platform in that case you need a Waves wallet as well.

Next as far as ICOs are concerned, there are tons of ICOs happening everyday and not all of them will be successful in future. If you are interested in investing in any of them visit their website (be careful of phishing websites, they are very common in flooding the social media when the crowdsale starts and the rush happens) and then when the crowdsale starts send them the amount you want to invest in BTC/ETH/Fiat or whatever.

Most of them will have a token (ERC20 is the most common Ethereum Token, but there can be Waves token as well) which will be sent to you on successful investment - process can take some time keep an eye on the social media links - but be careful of phishing addresses and websites.

These token can now be used for that project for investors to buy the service (most common use) or they can always be traded on Cryptocurrency exchanges.

I hope this overview will be enough for you for now. Remember that this is a generalized scheme and there may be variations. But always remember one thing - Always invest money that you can afford to lose and Never invest more than what you can afford to lose.
8842  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Ethereum Is Not a Bubble on: September 27, 2017, 12:25:04 PM
The potential for Ethereum is MASSIVE. Whether or not its short time price is in a bubble, only time will tell. But this does not affect the long term value and potential of this technology.

I agree with you view. Ethereum does have a potential to become second to bitcoin. Currently price of ethereum is second to bitcoin and the price will rise more in future because ICOs are happening everyday and as they happen more and more people who were previously ignorant of ether and altcoin and even bitcoin will be exposed to the crypto market. Many of them will go the next step and invest in bitcoin and altcoins including ethereum. I think this is a good step for the future of crypto, bitcoin and that the traders are going to have some good profits in future.
8843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In what country the most loyal attitude to Bicoin? on: September 27, 2017, 12:16:41 PM
I dont understand what exactly you mean to say by "loyal attitude". If you want to know the legal status of bitcoin in your country thats a different topic.

Considering what you have written in your OP, I understand that most advertisements in your country are negative about bitcoin. You must understand that there are people who dont like bitcoin at all and really consider it as a ponzi scheme.

It is upto you to decide whether you will also believe the same or not. In our country people are more bothered about making money rather than calling it a ponzi scheme but if your country considers bitcoin illegal then you should be careful and stop doing transactions immediately.
8844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Ethereum just got personal for me. on: September 27, 2017, 12:11:41 PM
Well I must say that you are not alone and this has happened with me several times as well. Personally I was introduced to Bitcoin before Ethereum and hence the first choice preference is always there. However one must consider the advantages and disadvantages while comparing two different crypto before commenting on them and not be biased about them. I feel both have potential capabilities for boosting value in future and hence I buy both but of course bitcoin prices vary on a larger scale than ether. It is totally your own decision whether you want to invest more in bitcoin or ether and other people's opinions dont matter.

I just want to ask if you get to ask to provide ethereum wallet. What is the wallet you give and use? is this poloniex.com one of them?

Poloniex is an exchange, where you buy/sell or in other words "trade" cryptocurrencies. You should not use poloniex as a wallet for collecting tokens or so because they control your private keys. Never use an exchange ETH address for any ICO.

You have to use a wallet like Mist which is a desktop wallet. MyEtherWallet.com which is a web wallet. I use both and personally I think Mist sucks because you have to wait long time for the blocks to sync before you can transact. MyEtherWallet is better where I can upload the keystore JSON from Mist and then transact/collect tokens without having to do a full sync.
8848  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Blockchain replace SWIFT? on: September 26, 2017, 07:41:31 AM
Blockchain replacing SWIFT may be a bit too far-fetched in my opinion. I believe there are supporters of blockchain and SWIFT in the world and they will each grow their own business models. There will be competition between the two and there cannot be a easy replacement of one by another. Like it is generally seen that blockchain technology is talked about getting integrated into banks but this never happens only the talk happens and so I dont think the two can be unified as well.
8849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is being accepted as method of payment by more and more businesses on: September 26, 2017, 07:35:48 AM
These are just speculations to try to pump the market. Like I always say people are weak-minded and they are willing to sell away the bitcoin they have because are not ready to accept losses. It is true that bitcoin gets more acceptance gradually but frankly speaking it will occur at a very slow rate. Even altcoins are trying to get into different parts of the society to make people aware of them and bitcoin. However the degree of acceptance by the public is low and will not increase unless the fiat to crypto exchange system is fully integrated with every device.
8850  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Charlie Shrem "China has no real effect on the future of bitcoin" on: September 26, 2017, 07:31:42 AM
Chinese miners dont control bitcoin if needed they can stop mining even then there will be enough miners in the world in fact it will even make the difficulty easier for them making it better for the other country miners. No country has control over bitcoin because it is controlled by the people who use it and not those who talk about it. Those who do talk about it influence the market - how that occurs is because there are people who are weak minded and panic that bitcoin prices will fall giving them losses.
8851  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MEW Wallet on: September 25, 2017, 08:57:45 AM
Yes MyEtherWallet can be used by everyone by creating a new wallet in their website. Generate a private key/passphrase and then use it. I prefer to use Mist wallet though and sometimes I have problems with the block syncing. It takes forever to sync and I have to wait for the syncing to complete before I can do any transactions. There comes in MEW - I can upload the Mist JSON keystore file there and use the password to unlock it. Then I can send transactions and view my tokens there without having to do a full sync from MEW itself.

Thus I recommend you to try out both and see which one works out for you. I do hope in future there is something like Electrum for Ethereum as well.
8852  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would be a good ICO? on: September 25, 2017, 08:51:43 AM
I my opinion a good ICO has the following things.

1. A clearly defined team which is backed by known advisors and people associated with crypto and related things.
2. A goal which is practical and not too exaggerated and has potential source of economic growth in future as well. The idea shaping it must be new and out of the box though in most cases this is may not happen. Transparency between the project development and the investors is something that is lacking in ICOs these days.
3. Working on a field where other projects could not develop or make a mark on and has potential ability to develop it further.
4. A token that can meet these demands and would be profitable to the investors when traded on exchanges.
5. A responsive support team.

These are what I think make a good ICO, but these are the ideal situation and may not happen in every ICO. Only invest money that you are willing to lose and never invest more than what you can afford.
8853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin illegal country. on: September 25, 2017, 08:43:55 AM
Many people consider bitcoin as a risk to the current banking infrastructure and thus the governments are worried that they will lose their tax payments that they burden their people with every year. No one likes to get taxed and thus many people resort to bitcoin payments and thus often many countries have tried to stop bitcoin being used. However this is not practically possible because bitcoin is not controlled by the government and thus using modern tools anyone can use it without being traced at all.
8854  Economy / Speculation / Re: how to predict bitcoin price increase or decrease? on: September 25, 2017, 08:40:48 AM
The crypto market is controlled by the people using the cryptocurrency and trading it. It does not depend on any centralized institution to increase or decrease its price. That said it is true that people are always wanting to invest in it.

Thus they instigate many influential people to make good or bad comments about crypto in the news and thus the market rises and falls respectively. These propaganda and FUD news are spreading viral across the internet which is why people who tend to panic and up playing the same part that these people wanted them to play.

In return nothing happens except the organisation spreading the FUD gets to buy some crypto at low price and you sold it away to them.

8856  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] BCDiploma - BCDT - Issues and stores degrees on: September 24, 2017, 11:07:36 AM
I have joined twitter campaign. It is good to see this type of a service being provided to people earning a diploma. I hope the the campaign is a success and I will try my best to promote it wherever I can. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to join the bounty.
8857  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HOW LONG CAN ALTCOIN LAST ? on: September 24, 2017, 10:01:34 AM
Why are you having a turmoil over altcoin? If you want to invest in any altcoin by all means do so and have some experience in trading. There are many altcoins whose future prices are going high for sure and you would not want to miss out on that opportunity while in this forum. Check out the new ICO announcements and then join their bounty campaigns. Just dont spam the forum and you can get some free tokens/coins from them when the ICO ends. That way you can collect some new altcoins and trade them on exchanges.

As long as there are services which need blockchain technology integration altcoins will live and those altcoins which are already alive will keep on kicking.
8858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pay hotel stay cost with token (Altcoin) on: September 24, 2017, 09:58:07 AM
In my opinion I feel we are thinking too much as different startups try to create their own token and distribute it for specific purpose. We all can pay with bitcoin and I think it is the solution to all problems of unification of finances. It does not matter to the people who create the token/coin as to who is going to accept it or not, they just want their wallet downloaded and the investors to invest in it. If we need to pay for every other service if by a different altcoin, then to hell with altcoins I prefer bitcoin to pay them all.
8859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mobile phones and the Internet are changing the banking on: September 24, 2017, 09:53:16 AM
I still dont like doing personal stuff on my smartphone where google is like monitoring every one of our moves. Personally many of these news are propaganda news and FUD in nature but many are true as well. No one knows which one is actually true and not everyone of us can build their own smartphone for using. I prefer to use my computer to do online transactions though there is not much difference with that. But for banking and all I would rather do it physically by going to the bank even if I feel lazy.
8860  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty role degrades. on: September 23, 2017, 02:26:05 PM
The ICO needs promotion and basically all ICOs are based on how much socially engaging they are and if they dont promote their project how do you expect the people to buy their tokens?

The bounties and campaigns that happen on social media and on this forum are just methods and techniques for promoting the ICO. There is no relation between an ICO being a scammer and the ICO having huge bounty to provide. A highly rewarding ICO maybe or may not be successful. It depends ultimately on the public acceptance of their project and if it really worked out the way it was supposed to.
