8881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cars That Can Be Purchased with Bitcoin on: April 16, 2021, 06:30:44 AM
1) The fiat payments will decrease the company wealth over the time with increasing inflation but on the contrary basis when they have Bitcoin as payment for their services and products they gain huge profits when the prices increase.Profit growth is their main objective.
Besides Tesla that keeps its bitcoin and doesn't convert it to fiat, all of the mentioned companies and dealerships use a payment processor that converts the received bitcoin to USD fiat at the moment of payment. Unfortunately, they can't take the risk to speculate with the prices. They have got taxes and salaries to pay.

Take the last 24 hours as an example. Imagine someone bought a car for 1 bitcoin (around $64k) yesterday. The dealership kept the bitcoin. This morning, the coins they received are only worth $61.300. They lost money over night. Tomorrow, those coins can go up to $70k or down to $50k. Most businesses can't that risk.
8882  Economy / Gambling discussion / What Feature Do You Look for In Slot Games? on: April 15, 2021, 07:24:14 PM
Whether we like it or not, slot games are some of the most popular games in casinos. That is the case with physical casinos as well as online casinos. Some of the reasons why they are so popular are that they are simple to learn and play, and they offer immense payout potentials and jackpots.

In this poll, I’d like to know how this forum’s players select which slot games to play? What feature is most important to you?

•   The RTP percentage determines the average return to player rate of a game. The higher this rate is, the bigger the possibility to earn profits.
•   Volatility varies from slot to slot. Low volatility games offer regular wins in smaller amounts, whereas high volatility games pay less frequently but in larger amounts.
•   Free spins and bonus games. Slots with wilds and scatters award players free bonus rounds with increased potential to profit. Some games also offer an expensive buy feature that gives you straight access to bonus rounds.
•   The more paylines a game has, the more winning combinations are available to the player. But more paylines also equal higher stakes.
•   Progressive jackpots can earn players returns of several million dollars. But to be eligible for the highest payouts, you are often required to play with maximum bets.
•   Each game developer has his own unique style, design, and interface for his games. Are the graphics, designs, and layouts something essential in the slots you play?

When I play slot games, I like to try my luck with low to medium volatility games with RTP rates above 96%.

You are allowed to vote twice and select two features you like the most.
Please keep the discussions clean and on-topic.
8883  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Bitcoin gegen Bar Geld ? on: April 15, 2021, 02:01:16 PM
8884  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Taproot proposal on: April 15, 2021, 01:30:25 PM
Is there anything people could conceivably object to?  The communications so far all seem on point to me.
Besides the part that with Taproot the public key will be exposed before an output is spent, there doesn't seem to be any major objections. Even this doesn't seem like an issue as pooya87 explained in one of his previous posts. The article I linked to hasn't created confusion or uncertainty in regards to whether or not Bitcoin should go ahead with Taproot activation. If we arrive to a point where SHA2 is not quantum resistant, an exposed public key is the least of our problems.
8885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency trading on: April 15, 2021, 11:33:46 AM
Stick to buying and holding for now. Forget about day-trading and promises of big profits. Bigger fishes eat the smaller fishes. For one successful and profitable crypto trader, there will be dozens who lost money. Guess which group those with no experience with trading will fall into?

Before you begin trading with real money, you need theoretical knowledge. You need to get yourself acquainted with the trading platforms, terminology, charts, etc. Most of your portfolio should be in bitcoin, and with the rest you can purchase those coins you personally believe to have a future. That requires doing your own research and not just listening to the advice of random people (including myself).

8887  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - New Community Chat feature on site now!! 🚀 on: April 15, 2021, 07:23:12 AM
Why does PSG not have a position in your hope?
PSG looks like a much stronger unit compared to previous years and I wouldn't rule them out of reaching the Finals. They were unlucky in several situations in the second leg of the Bayern match. Neymar hit the post and the bar on two occasions. He could have scored in the dying moments of the game if it weren't for Neuer's quick reactions. He also had a great chance in the 2nd half where he missed the ball by a couple of inches after a Di Maria pass. Mbappe has scored several knock-out goals in the CL already. I read some stats yesterday that he has already scored more knockout goals than Henry in his entire career. And the lad is only 22-23 years old.

PSG will be tough to play against. Unfortunately, they don't have a strong home record as we have seen both in the domestic competition and the CL lately.

Hey guys, tell us what's your favorite sport for betting right now?
Football is the most obvious choice and my pick as well. The wide offer of live events allows you to bet on all kinds of markets. Watching the game live on TV gives you a certain thrill because with a bit of knowledge and luck, you can make better predictions. It has happened to me more than once that I notice that the favorites aren't in good form and the underdog looks much better on the field. Staking some money in the opposite direction pays off in such situations.

Betting live is also entertaining for the various markets on bookings and cards. You can get a feeling of how aggressive the match will be. You pay attention to the standard of punishments the referee hands out.
8889  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: April 15, 2021, 06:49:51 AM
Taj sistem razmisljanja.

Izlaze svako malo nove adrese.

You got knocked down more than once, but you stood up every time and you are still here. Exposing scams and investigating scammers is a difficult and not a very rewarding task. Hats off to you for selecting that path. It's not something I am interested in or like to do, but I understand how much work it requires. Your late father is surely happy that you are doing good.

Stay strong and keep working hard!
8891  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting a user who just merited you on: April 14, 2021, 08:12:11 PM
I noticed in my 7 or 8 month journey in this forum which is like a exchange process. But in this process only higher ranked member got benifited. I saw in lots of topic that where higher ranked member comment just 1 or 2 line. But he got a 2 digit number merit. And in those post i saw a newbie member comment on it and his comment definitely deserve merit but he didn't get.

That is your subjective opinion. If you believe such a post by a newbie or any other member deserves to be awarded, feel free to throw some merits their way. No one said that a merit-worthy post needs to be lengthy and consist of multiple paragraphs. One sentence can offer a complete answer to a problem or show that the user is knowledgeable which makes his post merit-worthy in the eyes of many.

Higher ranked people exchange merit between them.
You could consider it an organized crime syndicate exchanging merits or have you considered that they receive substantial amounts of merits because of the quality and effort they show in their posts?

I saw someones topic who created that topic which will gives newbie or jr member merit to do some task like encrypted message or something. I have done this after a 1 week hard work and then i post that but i didn't get any merit maybe all because of i am a bounty hunter.
You are talking about OgNasty's thread where he asks users to encrypt a message. It could be because you are a bounty hunter, only he knows. He posted a disclaimer where it says if you spam a lot with bounty applications he will turn you down. I saw you posted it twice and got no reply.

And bounty, airdrop is a way by which i can earn free money. And without bitcointalk i can't join bounty. So what can i do.
You can be both a bounty hunter and a normal user of this bitcoin forum.

I have always classified bounty hunters in two different groups:
  • Social media link spammers
  • Those who actually do some work (graphic designers, video creators, translators, writers).

I am not a fan of the first group but I have no problem with the second group of hunters.

It happened back in 2019. ibminer announced in his opening post that he and suchmoon are now responsible for the development and are also the owners of bpip. suchmoon pays for the hosting expenses.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5213618.0

If you take a look at the About section of bpip, you will see that the team is only made up of ibminer & suchmoon.

8893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Favorite Slot Theme on: April 14, 2021, 09:06:56 AM
I like retro slots with themes from the 1980s and 1990s. Games with beautiful landscapes and engaging music. For example Hotline and Hotline 2 that take place on the boulevards of Miami. The game was actually inspired by the TV show Miami Vice. The player drives around the coastline of Miami and is chased by the cops. I think the game was created by Netent.

You haven't listed retro slots in your poll, so I voted for branded slots as that's the category most-closely related.
8894  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One more Ledger leak? on: April 14, 2021, 08:56:58 AM
Bro get real please, this is not Balkan or Wild West and courts actually work like they should most of the time Cheesy
I know it's not the Wild Balkans but it's still a lengthy process that can take several years. I am not saying it will, but there is that possibility. Ledger is not the only party being sued for something.

Doing a search for "how long does a lawsuit take" delivers results mostly for personal injury claims (for some reason) and those take years as well.
The first result says:

Quote
How Long Does a Personal Injury Claim or Lawsuit Take? Most cases take anywhere from a year to five years after a lawyer is hired to conclude.
https://macgillivraylaw.com/how-long-does-a-personal-injury-claim-or-lawsuit-take

A different source shows this:
Average Case, 2-5 years
Personal Injury -2-3 years
Medical Malpractice, 2-3 years
Patent Issues, 1-5 years

8895  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Does this kind of wallet generated by electrum word seeds have any flaw? on: April 14, 2021, 08:31:09 AM
My offline signer is a phone and it uses electrum android. The next button would grey out if the checksum of seed phrase fails.
However what you said is true on desktop version, I generated some seeds for testing, they indeed could generate BIP39 wallets dispite of the failure of checksum.
You can restore a BIP-39 recovery phrase on Electrum mobile as well. You are probably using an old version of the Electrum app on your offline device. I just downloaded the newest version to try it out. When you click on the gear icon to enter the options menu, you have the possibility to extend your seed by entering a passphrase or restoring a BIP-39 seed.

Take a look:

8896  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Typo on Electrum Website on: April 14, 2021, 08:08:27 AM
When we are at that subject, there should also be a comma after the word 'desktop'.
"It can be used on mobile, desktop, or with the command line interface".

But these are really minor mistakes. The fact it's been there all these years without anyone noticing, proves how insignificant they are. Nice attention for detail -AndrewOne-, nevertheless.
8897  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: One more Ledger leak? on: April 14, 2021, 07:28:55 AM
I think those lawsuits and court proceedings will take a few years before a decision is made or we might even see a settlement between the counterparties.  If there isn't a settlement, don't forget that both sides usually appeal, then that leads to new proceedings, etc., etc.

The fact they aren't talking about it on their social media channels is understandable from their point of view. No one would want to advertise how big of a schmuck he is. Try creating a new discussion on their reddit page to see whether or not they will remove it.
8898  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mycellium vs CoinBase?Whats the difference? on: April 14, 2021, 07:13:53 AM
You need an interface for communication between Electrum on Android and your hardware wallet it is not as straightforward as porting it from Windows to Android. Most of the hardware wallets uses USB and you'll have to use the phone's USB C port for communication which could be difficult.
I know that Ledger sells the required cables in their shop. They call it the Ledger OTG Kit. Wouldn't that be enough to pair Electrum mobile and a Ledger hardware wallet?

It's a set with three different cables:
USB-C to Micro-USB
USB-A to Micro-USB
USB-C to USB-C

The price is ridiculous - €15, but cheaper alternatives can be purchased in tech shops.
8899  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Riddles and Brain-Teasers for Bitcointalk Members (Newbies – Members) on: April 13, 2021, 09:44:33 PM
OK, riddle 4 can now be considered solved.

John made several mistakes. He did not take enough time to study how hardware wallets work and the importance of properly storing a recovery phrase. He stored the seed on his computer and after he reformatted his machine, the seed was gone. A seed phrase shouldn't be stored digitally. It should be written down on paper and stored in a safe and dry place.

Had John invested more time in reading about his hardware wallet, he would have learned that a properly generated recovery phrase can't be known by another person. Mike from the store doesn't have a copy of John's seed, and he has no way to restore or otherwise reset his wallet. Hardware wallets are physical devices that store private keys. They don't store coins because coins only exist as inputs and outputs on the blockchain. Therefore, there were never any coins on John's device. If a hardware wallet malfunctions, the only way to regain access to the coins is by restoring your account via the recovery phrase. Sine John lost his, he ultimately lost his coins the moment his hardware wallet stopped working.

I didn't want to open the site because I don't know or trust it. So I looked for it via Google Play Store and the App Store.
I assume this is the wallet they are talking about > https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squeaks.app&hl=en_US&gl=US
It's some kind of social media + crypto wallet. It currently shows 10.000 installs and 1.300 reviews. It's got a review score of 5.0. Very credible indeed Grin

I guess this one is from the App Store > https://apps.apple.com/us/app/squeaks-app/id1545885293.
I can't see a single review or the download stats. I guess you are missing a couple of hundred ks of reviews.

I would be interested to know where those half a billion of users downloaded your app from as the internet (reddit, etc) show absolutely nothing about your wallet. There is only this > https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/mpmabv/smart_wallet_by_squeaks_hello_guys_we_have_worked/, and the post seems to have been removed.
