Pakistani women have no enough experience of International cricket, so it's big problem for them but still these women's manage some good fights in few matches like against Bangladesh and South African they lost very close matches but after these close encounters they won against West Indies which was a big win for them which give them some good confidence and their first win in this mega event hopefully this will help them in future and for change of mind set in future games.

Indian women's are one off most experienced players in this event but sadly lost against South Africa and their spot in semifinal were big shock for them and their fans because their performance was good but these women's completely fail against big teams which need some good work from them in future.

The performance from sub-continent teams remained below par during this edition of the world cup. If Thailand was allowed to qualify (they topped the qualifying tournament, but the ICC disqualified them saying that they are not ranked), then they would have done much better when compared to either India or Pakistan. Anyway, I had zero interest in the tournament this time. There were only 8 teams in total and I could see hardly any diversity. First of all, a tournament with just 8 teams should not be called a "World" cup.

Taylor had an extraordinary career that's spans over 15 years and include 112 tests, 236 ODIs and 102 T20Is. He has SR of 83 in 236 ODIs and 123 in 102 T20Is he played, that clearly shows how well he has aligned himself for these formats. New Zealand will badly miss this middle order batsmen and so will cricket fans.

There is no doubt that Ross was one of the most amazing batsmen New Zealand ever produced. But towards the end of his career, he was not doing great. During the last 2 years, his ODI average stood at 8.25. He played three matches against Netherlands this year and scored only 26 runs. His overall career stats look great, but the same can't be said about recent times. Anyway, now I think he should concentrate more on a TV role, as he has an amazing sense of humor (remember the twitter conversation with Virender Sehwag in Hindi?).

Anyway, could someone also explain why oil prices have frozen the past few days? They don't seem to be updating.

Initially the prices rose, because a lot of people thought that Russia won't be able to sell it's crude. But that is not the case, as countries such as China, India and Indonesia are mopping up the supplies from Russia at discounted rates. Even the United States has used this opportunity to increase the imports from Russia (and that is despite the "ban"). The supply crunch for crude oil has not worsened, despite the OPEC decision to not to increase the production. Unless the new set of sanctions explicitly target countries that purchase crude from Russia (that can't be ruled out, given the pro-OPEC leanings of Biden), I foresee the prices to remain in $100-120 per barrel range.
8944  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay in rubles or have your gas shut off by April on: April 05, 2022, 01:44:24 AM
The action of shutting off would really be not immediate as there are some existing contracts that need to be filled.
Maybe, after those contracts expired, European countries will assess the situation and push thru the shutting down of Russian services.
But if they can't find immediate alternatives or replacement, they may possibly continue to pay Russia, but now in rubles.
They will definitely weight the situation, but they won't be shutting down Russian gas if they can't find alternatives.

In countries such as Germany, industries are being shut down due to unavailability of gas. And even at this point, pipeline gas (as per contractual terms) from Russia is manytimes cheaper when compared to imported LNG from Qatar or the United States. The funny thing about pipeline gas is that the prices are linked to crude oil prices (although with a lag), and right now Russia doesn't make much of a profit from selling it. If the Europeans want to replace this gas with some other source, they may end up paying 3x or 4x extra.

Australia lost there 9th wicket on 166 it was Sean Abbott 49 on 40 balls that helped them crossing 200. Australia team were not playing with there major bowlers like starc, Hazlewood and Cummins. That's another plus for Pakistan. Australia will conclude this historic tour on 5th April by playing the only T20I.

Australia was one of the first teams to implement the player rotation policy. This time they went with a bunch of inexperienced players (Nathan Ellis, Jason Behrendorff, Ben McDermott.etc), and still managed to perform. However in the 3rd ODI things didn't worked as per the plan. Both the opening batsmen (Travis Head and Aaron Finch) were back in pavilion before they managed to score the first run. When Marnus Labuschagne got out, the score was 6/3 after 5 overs. And from there, things went downhill for Australia.
8946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: April 03, 2022, 02:48:33 AM
IPL not only pays the player but also board for releasing the players for IPL. For the first time CA stopped its players from participating in IPL 2022 because of ongoing Pakistan tour. Small boards like South Africa are happy to sacrifice players for IPL for the financial gains. South Africa first time on its soil lost to Bangladesh since its players are in IPL.

For overseas players, 20% of the salary directly goes to the national cricket board. So for SENA nations, IPL is a revenue generating source. And for boards such as West Indies and South Africa (which are in a very weak condition financially), this amount can be life changing. And it creates a lot of disparity as well. Pakistani players are not allowed, and so the PCB is losing out on the money. The same can be said about associate nations, and lower ranking test nations such as Bangladesh, Ireland and Zimbabwe.
8947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: April 03, 2022, 02:34:52 AM
I think those who will advance to the next round in Group A are the Netherlands as group winners and Senegal as second place in Group A. because Senegal is also a team of proven quality, they have just won the African champions, what Senegally needs to know is as the first position in the FIFA ranking list for the African region.
The star from Liverpool also comes from Senegal, namely Sadio Mane. Everyone knows the quality of Mane.

Sadio Mane alone can't take Senegal to the second round. And Senegal has been inconsistent in the past. I would still go with Ecuador. They are regularly playing against the best in the world (Brazil, Agrentina.etc), and have performed quite decently in the recent past. My guess is that Ecuador, along with the Netherlands will be able to qualify from Group A. One thing I have learnt from the previous editions of the world cup is not to underestimate any of the CONMEBOL teams. There are simply no weak teams from that confederation.

Not just India and Russia, but the whole world are now affected by the embargo on oil against the Russian. And as you have said, someone will have to benefit and it will be Saudi or at least some US ally in the Middle East. So it's going to be a battle of attrition, it looks like Putin is holding up and now putting pressure on US and it's allies regarding the war after a month.

The war will end in a month or so, and if the oil prices continue to remain at $110-120 levels, then many of the oil consuming nations will be forced to get their crude at discounted rates from Russia. Already China and India have indicated that they are willing to purchase Russian crude. These countries face a difficult choice - either purchase Russian crude at a discount, or witness an economic recession in their own territory. BTW, the Indian government should blame themselves. When crude was trading at $40 per barrel, these guys refused to accumulate oil reserves.

What time has come that the weakest Netherlands team is giving a tough time to the New Zealand batsmen. Shame on New Zealand batsmen who could not face the Netherlands bowling. Now how will NZ avoid this defeat, the match is being played at NZ, they can't make excuses and leave their own country  Cheesy
Thanks to 140 not out from Tom Latham and 41 from Doug Bracewell, New Zealand not only manage to play 50 overs but also give Netherlands a target of 269. Due to IPL most of teams are playing without there key players, I don't know whether same is the case with new zealand or not. Netherlands have already lost two wickets and it will be difficult to chase down this target.

Well.. quite shocking display from the Dutch in the end. They had the Kiwis at 35/5 and then they allowed them to make a total of 264. And in return, they could make a total of only 146 (despite a third wicket stand of 77 between Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede). This was a match that they could have won easily. But poor tactics cost them the match and now they need to focus on the last match that is scheduled for tomorrow. Netherlands don't get these chances too often and it saddens me when they throw them away in a haphazard manner.

In the 6th match of tri nation cup going on in Nepal,  Nepal beat Malaysia by 85 runs. Nepal gave a target of 223, Dipendra Singh Airee played a not out innings of 110. Haven't seen Dipendra in any league so far. Such tournaments will help players of associate teams to make it to leagues like IPL.

When was the last time a player from one of the associate nations got a chance to play the IPL? I guess Sandeep Lamichhane of Nepal got a couple of outings and after that he was dropped. IPL franchises prefer players from SENA nations - Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England and also from West Indies. Anyone outside this grouping doesn't stand a good chance to get selected. Now coming to the tri-nation series, these two teams (Nepal and Malaysia) are the ones with native players. But in recent times, they have gone down in ICC ranking, as they are unable to compete against mercenary teams like the UAE and Oman.

Maybe we Europeans should do the same to India as Russia does to Ukraine?
Of course with far better success chances, how many it took last time, 2 ships and 5 donkeys?

LOL.. I think you are still living in the 19th century. Dude, that era is long gone, when Europeans could do whatever they wanted. Most of the European countries don't even have a proper army nowadays and are entirely dependent on the United States for their defense deals. Within a few weeks, all these media hype about heroic Ukrainian defense will fall apart and Putin will walk away with half of Ukraine. Europeans will be left with another 10 million economic migrants from Ukraine, which will add further strain to the budget (that is already under pressure from the raising gas and oil prices).

I have a feeling that Punjab Kings (along with Sunrisers Hyderabad) will finish at the bottom of this year's IPL. Their top-order batting (Mayank Agarwal & Shikhar Dhawan) looks OK, but their bowling lineup is really pathetic. Apart from Kagiso Rabada, they have a bunch of inexperienced and incapable bowlers such as Sandeep Sharma, Arshdeep Singh and Harpreet Brar. Similar to the case with SRH, Punjab Kings also have a very unbalanced squad. Middle order batting also looks vulnerable, with players like Raj Bawa and Shahrukh Khan.

Russia offer its flagship Urals grade to India at discounts of as much as $35 a barrel. Russia has given access for rupee-ruble-denominated payments using Russia’s messaging system SPFS. The direct purchase is expected to involve Russia’s Rosneft PJSC and the Asian nation’s biggest processor Indian Oil Corporation.

India's decision to bypass the SWIFT system for buying Russian oil have been criticised by the U.S. Australia, Japan and U.K. It looks like India never think of the pressure from these countries. This way India and Russia seems to be highly beneficial out of the sanctions.

The Americans should mind their own business. First and foremost, the EU countries should do what they preach. On one hand they are asking India to refrain from purchasing the discounted crude and gas from Russia and on the other hand they are continuing to accumulate these commodities from the same source. As of now, the most Russophobic nations in the EU such as Poland and Lithuania receive more than 50% of their gas and oil from Russia. Who are they to give advise to India? We know how to take care of the internal matters in our country and help from EU/US is not needed.
8954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: April 02, 2022, 02:33:41 AM
Group A looks interesting. Qatar has IMO around 50% chances of qualifying to the next round. Netherlands in all probability will finish on top, but there is going to be fierce competition from Qatar, Senegal and Ecuador for the second position. I am more inclined towards Ecuador, since CONMEBOL teams are the best in football. Senegal on the other hand is famous for upsets, although their form has gone down recently. Qatar needs at least one win and a draw to progress to second round and it will be easier for them to defeat Senegal than Ecuador.
8955  Economy / Economics / Re: I heard a rumor that OPEC will go 300 USD / barrel this year on: April 02, 2022, 02:19:18 AM
Rumors that the price of oil must rise is an old thing that I often hear, of course OPEC hopes to regulate prices with supply and now many OPEC countries are leaving because they can't produce anymore, and this is a sign that a lot of oil is getting more difficult, I'm sure oil prices will continue The increase is not because of OPEC's appeal but the world's demand for oil continues to increase, the USA has announced that oil demand reaches more than 15% of world production so that oil prices will continue to rise.

Irrespective of whatever statements they make, the OPEC bloc has no real reason to accept lower prices for oil. Right now countries such as Saudi Arabia are benefitting from this situation in two ways - first of all they can sell increasing amounts of oil, due to the embargo on exports from Russia. And then, they are getting more $$$ for each barrel of oil that they export. Because of stupid policies from the Biden administration, it is the ordinary people from countries like India and Russia who are suffering.

Anyone watching the 2nd ODI between New Zealand and the Netherlands right now? I am watching the match live on Amazon PrimeVideo, and New Zealand are in a lot of trouble at 38/5. Logan van Beek and Fred Klaassen just destroyed the Kiwi top order (supplemented by some poor shot selection from the NZ batsmen). Tom Latham is at the crease along with Colin de Grandhomme, and if these two are not able to build a big partnership, then New Zealand will lose 10 valuable points in the ICC ODI league.
8957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: April 01, 2022, 03:11:44 AM
Perhaps this is an indication that there is not enough talent available in India for a 10-team competition? I had mentioned this many months ago. The BCCI should seriously consider raising the threshold of foreign players in the XI from 4 to 5, and that in the squad from 8 to 10. Yesterday, for both the teams the disadvantage came from young local players (Mukesh Choudhary, Tushar Deshpande.etc). If the BCCI want to maintain the quality, then they should allow one more overseas player in the XI.
8958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: April 01, 2022, 02:53:25 AM
Pakistan isn't a weak team at this moment. They had the capability to win the first match too, but they lost it for the irresponsibility of their batsman. Pitch condition was batting friendly for both of the games. Pakistan lost the first ODI by 88 runs, still the betting odds was in favour of Pakistan before the start of the second ODI match. I think Pakistan will win the 3rd ODI match too.

Well.. I am getting mixed signals for the second ODI. The Pakistani bowlers looked pathetic and they allowed the Australians to build a total of around 350 in the first place. But at the same time, their batsmen exceeded the expectation and managed to chase down the total. It was mostly a calculating mistake from the Australians, who thought that 350 would be enough on a flat track. Batsmen like Ben McDermott took some time to settle in, and that proved to be too costly in the end. Also, they scored at less than a run per ball during overs 40-45.

If Russia is now asking Germany to make payment of gas shipment in rubies that means Russia is threatening Germany and EU because of her large gas reserve. This is probably the reason Russia is flexing military muscle against Ukraine with the understanding that they have resources and need that EU countries won't afford to resist in a haste. Looking for alternative is the best for eu.

LOL... who is threatening whom? It was Germany who imposed sanctions on Russia. First they are sanctioning the payments in EUR and USD. And when Russia ask for payments in RUR instead (in order to bypass the sanctions), they are refusing to adhere. Looking for alternatives may work well in an ideal scenario. But the problem is that, none of the "alternate" suppliers (including the United States) have enough spare capacity to replace even 20% of the Russian supply. Germany and Austria have already announced gas rationing plans. I guess such plans will remain in place for at least the next 5 years.

Final round of qualification matches are ongoing in CONCACAF. In less than 30 minutes, we will get to know who will qualify from this confederation. Costa Rica is leading by 2-0 against the United States, but most likely the US will secure direct qualification and CR will be playing in the inter-confederation playoffs. Mexico is leading by the same margin against El Salvador. Canada vs Panama match is irrelevant, because the former has already qualified for the world cup. One slot remains open from UEFA. Will be taken up by one of these three countries - Ukraine, Scotland or Wales.
Qualification for CONCACAF is quite easy and interesting. Surprise, surprise, surprise! However, Costa Rica still suffers despite winning the match 2-0. It will be a World Cup for the USMNT at this point. Mexico has also booked their place at Qatar 2022. Could they make it through the knockout rounds? Considering Mexico and the US are inconsistent, both countries will not make much progress, but you never know who may show up. I'd like to see the USA vs. Brazil.

Costa Rica may still manage to qualify. 29 out of the 32 slots for the 2022 World Cup have been finalized by now. One playoff slot from UEFA remains to be decided (postponed due to the war in Ukraine). Apart from that, the two remaining playoff matches are:

1. AFC v CONMEBOL: Winner of (Australia vs UAE) vs Peru
2. CONCACAF v OFC: Costa Rica vs New Zealand

As you can see, it is still possible for Costa Rica to play in the main tournament. After all, New Zealand is a very weak team IMO.
