8982  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-06] Forbes - Did Google Just Censor Bitcoin on: May 12, 2020, 04:49:23 PM
There are a lot of scam accusations about gambling sites - some for real, some not. Some cry that the casino didn't let them cheat, some don't understand gambling, sometimes errors happen and some times times some casinos are indeed found scamming.

And the number of casinos is nowhere near the number of youtube videos. I can't imagine how many are scam indeed, I expect a lot. Of course, a lot others are not related at all with scam, which doesn't mean they don't get reported, for various reasons or simply by the competition. And of course, the AI handling all this + the humans checking now and then is most probably making mistakes too here and there, not only on bitcoin topics.

Does this mean Google is afraid of bitcoin? Does this mean Google has anything against bitcoin? Does this mean anything?? No. Sorry.
Google is nowhere near angels, clearly, but this accusation has no basis.

PS. Would that Forbes guy have said anything if by chance his videos would have been unaffected?  Wink Or he's just calling "burn the witch anyway!"?

8983  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: #DeGoogle - Luati-va inapoi controlul asupra intimitatii on: May 12, 2020, 01:53:07 PM

Cheesy
8984  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Want to buy .1 or .2 of BTC by paying with something i can purchase on credit on: May 12, 2020, 12:44:54 PM
yeah yeah, I got it, don't buy crytpo with credit. Now that that's out of the way...

I can purchase a gift card or whatnot. Ideally we'd make 4 $500 transactions. I give you the code, you give me the btc.

I'll only work with trusted users. Rate would be negotiable, though I'm trying to not get fucked over so bad like purchasing on paxful.

I think that there's a very high chance you'll end up with worse rates than if you'd buy with the CC directly from the few exchanges that offer that option.
But as you started: don't buy BTC for credit money. The market is volatile (halving or not) and credit money is clearly money you don't afford to lose.
8985  Local / Minerit / Re: Minerit in cloud? on: May 12, 2020, 12:39:24 PM
Aveti niste recomandari in aceasta privinta? As dori sa aflu niste platfome sigure care opereaza de mult.

Se mai merita?

Multumesc!

8986  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [Electrum] How can I add a new address having the private key? on: May 12, 2020, 12:02:03 PM
If you want to add your private key to an existing wallet then I am afraid it is not possible. You can either 'Sweep' which tells Electrum to move those coins automatically to your wallet via a transaction or create a new wallet and select 'Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys'.

It has to be emphasized that with Sweep you don't add that private key to your actual wallet so you won't be able to "prove ownership" if others ask for it.
Sweep only creates a transaction that'll move those coins to this wallet.

For "adding private key" and proper ownership proving the "new/import" is the proper way.
Of course, import also doesn't mean addition to current wallet, it's creation of new wallet, but you'll be able to use it in Electrum.

Hello I have my private key. How can I prove my ownership of my address to electrum? I don't see any insert button...

If you already have a wallet in Electrum, you should do File->New/Restore.
And when you'll have 2 or more wallets you can switch between them with File->Open
:D on: May 12, 2020, 07:47:05 AM

Degeaba... Undecided
8988  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Privacy setup on: May 11, 2020, 12:32:33 PM
What you say is a bit ambiguous. You say that students may have to record themselves during the test then you say you'll stop the mic and webcam.
The test may happen as a conference so the teacher can keep an eye on you real time. If so you'll need the webcam and mic and also ToR may get out of question for making the things too slow.

About distro, since you'll use a VM and will not "touch" your main data (that's smth you set from VM, not the OS inside VM), you can consider that VM disposable and it doesn't matter how much privacy-oriented will it be, it doesn't matter.
Make sure the VM OS will have installed everything you need!!

So the data from the computer should be safe.
The content of your room may be somewhat visible, I recommend you change the position of your office so your back will be next to a wall.
The IP however I don't know how you can hide without losing speed.

PS. Wait for others' opinions too.

And next time you install a 2FA app consider using one that allows you back up your data like Aegis and such.  Wink

8990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach an astronomical all-time new high. on: May 11, 2020, 09:23:32 AM
It is expected that the price of bitcoin will reach an astronomical all-time new high.

As your numbers show, each new bubble means smaller percentual growth.
So the new ATH could be indeed big, but not astronomical. If you call it astronomical, some guys that just got a few satoshi from a faucet will think they'll be rich in 2 years.

This stuff really needs discussion.

Not really. Some have higher expectations, some not. Some still hope for low price so they can buy more. Some think that there will be no new ATH.
It's all speculation, which imho is rather meaningless. We cannot foresee the future and I'm not sure if we should build up so big expectations so fast.
Last ATH was iirc at more that a year after halving and the FOMO rush happened only in the last months of that period.
8991  Economy / Lending / Re: {Request} Need loan of 50-100k$ on: May 11, 2020, 08:28:14 AM
loan secured by precious stones

I am not sure how could those precious stones get to an escrow and who can decide they are valuable.
You better do some reading on what is considered valid collateral and try better if you indeed want a loan.
Also 50-100k is a big amount, so expect the lender be very picky on the collateral.

BITCOIN MIXER?

1. On forums, writing with all uppercase means you are shouting. Please start writing like we all do.

:D on: May 10, 2020, 09:18:26 AM

8994  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Usefulness of stablecoin on: May 10, 2020, 08:15:03 AM
Learn to hold stablecoin and wait for the right moment

You gave USDT as example. Not a good one.
If you want to hold stable coins you better go for coins/tokens with proper 3rd party audit (which USDT doesn't have) to make sure the coins/tokens are actually backed by something real, not just empty words.

PS. It's hard to tell now if Bitcoin is again in a bear market or not. We may need some 10 days for that (i.e. halving day + 1 week).
:D on: May 10, 2020, 07:04:43 AM
Ce parere aveti? Cheesy

PS. A avut si BYND asa cadere (13%?) azi noapte?  Grin

Naaah, that'll have to be around Christmas. Why break such wonderful tradition?
8997  Other / Meta / Re: About the donation to bitcointalk on: May 09, 2020, 12:37:42 PM
You open a big discussion, but if it's to be correct then yes I was wrong. I just see bitcoin as a currency that people want it to make dollars from. For example I won't keep a bitcoin for a life. With your theory nothing will change if I'll keep it 1 minute or 1 year, and I agree with you. This is how I want bitcoin to be seen from the world. As a currency and not as an investment. Investments are the ones that spoil bitcoin price. Anyway, I've got off topic.

I didn't open that. It was always here  Cheesy
Keep in mind that Satoshi called Bitcoin "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System", not "an investment for the masses".
8998  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hacked adress 2010 on: May 09, 2020, 12:34:56 PM
I have search that's address on both google search and this forum, nothing I found.

Discussing a unknown address from unknown owner is useless.

I guess we all did this; that's why I agree with 20kevin20 and I was also waiting for more details from OP on what he meant and what was he expecting.
8999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can I mine with a Laptop (a strong modern one)? on: May 09, 2020, 12:31:51 PM
I wanna know if it's possible on the following modern laptop

The strong processors also use to generate a lot of heat. Laptops are usually designed to allow a bit of cool down now and then - by stopping them now and then and/or by not leaving them hours after hours on 100% processor use. With GPU it's even worse.

Since mining is usually high CPU/GPU use and 24/7 run, you may end up by breaking the laptop early if you are lucky or burn down the house if you're not.

So if you want that badly to mine, I'd advice you do that only while you use the laptop for something else (like surfing the net or this forum) and use mining software that doesn't use the whole processing power (like the Stak miner for Monero). But you'll see that such mining will get you pennies over long periods of time and may not worth it.
9000  Other / Meta / Re: About the donation to bitcointalk on: May 09, 2020, 12:23:35 PM
They donated when the price was too low.

You should know that not everybody thinks the same. And many could simply tell you that 1 BTC = 1 BTC, so nothing has change.
