901  Other / Off-topic / Re: How many Bitcoins are lost forever? on: November 07, 2016, 04:44:32 PM
I think I read somewhere an estimation of up to 2 million being irreversibly lost. This means max 19 million in total should be available to investors/holders/miners.

This is a good estimate. It's hard to tell the amount of kiddos running Bitcoin client on their laptops generating 1000s of coins then losing them.

It looks so dang practical
903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Used a Bitcoin ATM in a gas station today on: November 06, 2016, 08:29:40 PM
The people at the gas station didn't seem to know much about it, so I'm guessing they were approached by a company for a share of the profits. There is another gas station across the street that has had a Bitcoin ATM for longer, so I'm thinking they put one there with a lower fee to steal some business from the competition.

Or maybe panic buyers are keeping the market afloat until Black Friday  Cheesy
905  Economy / Auctions / Re: Domain Name Auction : BitcoinGUIDE.com on: November 05, 2016, 05:19:47 PM
It is a great domain easily worth 6 BTC+ to the right company. Anyone looking to make a "Bitcoin Guide" would want to have this name.

As everyone else mentioned, 6 BTC is a bit high to start the bidding with an auction on these forums. Most people just don't have that sort of BTC to drop and it would take awhile for the right bidder to come along. I would recommend putting up a For Sale page on the domain with a contact email. Then put in your signature "BitcoinGuide.com For Sale - Make an Offer" or similar.

Be patient and stick to your guns on the price. This is definitely a $x,xxx - $xx,xxx domain name. You may have to wait a few years though before the buyer comes along with a budget to pay what it's worth. Good luck!

908  Other / Archival / Re: Nice dip to buy more cheap BTC on: November 03, 2016, 09:43:56 PM
$700 for a Bitcoin is reasonable, but might dip by Christmas. You can't eat or play with a Bitcoin (If you're a child)  Cheesy

910  Economy / Speculation / Re: China putting capital controls on BTC! (lol) on: November 03, 2016, 06:41:54 PM
The Price is definitely tanking, but I'm thinking it'll settle around $550 which is a pretty solid figure for current market.
911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effects of Banning Bitcoin ? on: November 02, 2016, 03:40:02 AM

913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it safe to keep all your Bitcoins in one wallet? on: November 01, 2016, 03:50:29 PM
It is not as safe as keeping them in 2 wallets. Reason is you might lose your private key to one wallet, or it's possible it could get hacked in some sort of fashion. You just never know. Better to spread your funds through multiple Paper Wallets/Cold Storage. But not too many that it is a chore to keep up with.
914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How does bitcoin ATM going to affect bitcoin? on: November 01, 2016, 01:05:54 PM
It definitely increases awareness. I used a Bitcoin ATM in a gas station the other day, and spent a good 30 minutes explaining it to people. Luckily the fees on the ATM I used were only 5%.

Yeah I wasn't sure how long 5.290055e+025y was so I just said 1000 LOL
That's not even slightly off. It's off by the same order of magnitude as saying "I wasn't sure how old the universe was so I just said 10 microseconds LOL." Humans don't understand large numbers.

EDIT: Typo.

Idk, 1000 years isn't a bad estimate when you take into account progress of technology. amirite??  Cheesy
917  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] a-ads.com: Bitcoin advertising network. Advertise now! on: November 01, 2016, 12:47:56 PM
If a publisher has multiple ad spaces on the same page, but each ad space shows a different banner on the same page view.... will each banner view count?
918  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin with PayPal? on: November 01, 2016, 07:17:06 AM
Buying BTC with PayPal you will always pay a Premium unless you have lots of Trust. Simply because it is easy to scam with PayPal by doing chargebacks. You'll have to start out with small amounts most likely to build your feedback and relationships with sellers. Or prove your identity in some fashion.

Just wanted to see how long it would take to generate 18 1's with vanity gen and it was like 1000 years

You are slightly off...

Code:

920  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which exchange to buy Bitcoin using paypal? on: November 01, 2016, 03:56:18 AM
Local Bitcoins is probably your best bet. As long as you go through all the verification methods you should be fine. You could also get the cash out and buy Bitcoins using a Bitcoin ATM or cash in person through Local Bitcoins.
