901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My portfolio: What to Hold, what to let go?? on: November 13, 2017, 02:06:53 PM
Buy low, sell high.

Unless you have a good reason/info or know what you are doing...stop playing/timing the market if you can't adhere to that rule.

As tempting as it is to jump ship when it s low--DON'T (again unless you know it will definitely tank).  Expect the market to rise and fall and learn to ride it.  Take advantages of those highs and lows if you can.  Panic selling is the opposite, you are likely to lose that way.

Losing on BCH recently can only mean you chased the train...and caught up when it was near the station...classic no-no LOL
902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: staking coins on: November 13, 2017, 12:49:27 AM
The ones I have are NEO and ARK.  Both don't require you running your PC/laptop to stake.
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC transaction speed...please report. on: November 12, 2017, 04:48:17 PM
yes right, i'm having the same problem with you. I sent BTC this morning and until now not yet arrived.
I do not know what the problem is but I hope this problem is resolved soon.
The problem is the hash share...as more miners switch to BCH, BTC transacrions will slow down.  Couple that woth the bulk of transactions happening now selling BTC to buy BCH, it basically locks BTC.
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BTC transaction speed...please report. on: November 12, 2017, 03:02:40 PM
With the hash share of BTC reduced down to 31%...I am wondering how fast/slow are BTC transactions now?

It was bad then but with the frenzy over BCH, and the reduced hash share...I am wondering how long each transactions are taking now.

Can you share your experience if you did a BTC transaction the past 24 hours?  Thanks!
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC has left the building. on: November 11, 2017, 07:04:27 PM
Will bitcoin be left by miners? I would be surprised and happy, because I really hate people who trust bitcoin fully because it is nonsense and more importantly they don't know anything.

BTC hashrate has dropped significantly:

https://fork.lol/pow/hashrate

What's significant with this is the obvious constant increase in hash rate towards BCH (and of course the corresponding decrease in BTC).

IF the data is reliable, it is a clear signal of what may come...

For reference, as of 2017/11/11 1:02 Central time...split of BTC/BCH hash is 51.94/48.06
906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin going down - altcoins bleeding again o WHY?????????????? on: November 11, 2017, 02:52:18 PM
This battle will now rely on hash power or miner support.

Scalability issue....
 - BTC is at 1MB block size
 - Cancelled Segwit2x would have increased it to 2MB
 - BCH has 8MB block size.

The BCH supporters and Segwit2x supporters used to be separate but recently merged forces...due to the cancellation of Segwit2X.  Both of these camps believed 1MB is not sufficient (reason BTC transactions are too slow) to survive the current competition.

If miners move support to BCH...BTC will die (and vice-versa).

Only time can tell which will remain.  Personally, I think BTC with 1MB is doomed.  Like a dinosaur...either it adapt and evolve or be extinct.

But the timing is uncanny. Do you think this is a coordinate attack against btc? The timing of cancellation and then the immediate rise of bch plus the fud around leads me to the think that these group has really merges and attacking btc at the moment and claiming they are the true btc as put up by the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto and the result is that btc is now bleeding and I'm feeling that there are ensuing panic among investors specially who have bought bitcoin at a premium price.

Of course it is.

It is really confusing to see that when the price of bitcoin skyrockets, the other altcoins tend to fall terribly. But when the price of bitcoin is depressed, all other altcoins fall into disfavor. Does anyone know what kind of cruel game this is, and if it is still appropriate to invest in altcoins against the always unfavorable scenarios?

It happens when one coin SUCKS lots of funds...this time it is BCH.  People are dumping alts to buy BCH.  Look at the 24Hr volume... $4.68 Billion !!! Shocked

It can happen too when say ETH suddenly have a huge demand.
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best privacy coin? on: November 10, 2017, 10:00:41 PM
I am invested on ZEN, XSPEC, and AEON.

I like Monero too but I am after investment growth and I believe the above mentioned 3 will yield higher returns now.  It is my gamble.

Mad dash to purchase BCH.
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2X back on??? on: November 10, 2017, 03:57:58 PM
I hate these forks but part of me wish they go with it so it is out of the way.  The disruption happened already anyway.
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any advice for a newbie? on: November 10, 2017, 03:42:06 PM
Hi guys,

Newbie here trying to set up a crypto profile. 1 month ago I had heard the name Bitcoin but didn't know what it was other than a digital currency and had not heard of any alt coins so bear with me  Undecided

I don't have a huge amount to invest, thus far i have 0.13 BTC and 2 ETH, 2.6k XRP AND 50 OMG. I want to keep adding to this and keep it for as long as needed, i  am not really interested in trading as i don't understand this space enough to do that.

Any ideas or thoughts? Should i move any of these around? Concentrate on adding to bitcoin? Add to XRP/OMG etc etc???

Also i have a ledger nano s en route to keep my coins.

cheers
I think you are doing very well.  Actually, your portfolio distribution is better than most I see posted here.

Hardware wallet choice is excellent so I think you did your research well.  Continue what you are doing and add coins that you believe in.  Avoid day trading until you learned enough.

If I may recommend, check the following coins (not to invest on them right away but a short list to check).  I invested on MOST of these myself.
ARK, NEO, ZEN, RPX, GAS, KNC, LINK, STRAT, ZRX, WTC, VTC, LSK, XSPEC, REQ

BTW, I did not mention BTC, ETH, and OMG since you already have them. Wink

Good luck!

Just to clarify, this news came after the cancellation...basically, a group is fighting the cancellation.
915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Segwit2X back on??? on: November 10, 2017, 02:26:44 PM
I know it was cancelled...this news came after the cancellation.

916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: everything red again. on: November 10, 2017, 02:26:12 PM
It is because Segwit2X is back on...
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: red pulse ICO worth it? on: November 10, 2017, 12:02:30 PM
Red pulse now trading just onl on Kucoin the brand new exchange with small volume $881,893
What's do you think about it price now $0.046489? Should I wait for a dip or buy now?

I am in two minds here. Missed the Red Pulse ICO of course, since I was completely tied down with all the bad pricing on alts. Was not ready to take yet another risk by liquidating to ETH for a starting loss. Turned out to be a good decision when RPX ICO had those problems. And turned out to be better when trading price was below ICO.

Then again, prices already are looking up. Time to buy in belated coins before they can't be stopped or is this the so-called dead cat bounce?

Any new investors want to weigh in?
"Buy low, sell high"

I research coins and have a list of what I believe are good (RPX is on that list).  From the list I buy when they are low.  It has come up now but still a very good bargain IMHO.
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best privacy coin? on: November 10, 2017, 02:13:21 AM
ZEN for me too.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Spectrecoin (XSPEC) on: November 10, 2017, 02:03:03 AM
What this coin need is be traded on a good exchange like Bittrex or Binance.
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ARK - HODL? on: November 09, 2017, 11:03:43 PM
The Ledger wallet supports Ark, so I believe Ark will be valued in the long term. I keep it in my wallet.

The best way to go.  Mine is also in my Ledger Nano S and staked...making more ARK Smiley
Wait, is Ark staking automatically? I don't remember getting stakes when I last checked several months ago. Is that something new or did I forget to set something up?
You need to choose your delegate and vote (1 ARK which some delegate returns-heard maybe less now).  Been this way as far as I can remember.

Use this.   http://calculator.reconnico.com/
Enter your ARK qty (public address not needed) then calculate.

You will see which delegate is best for you after.  Study it well before committing...it is a pain to switch.
