902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Digitalcoin or Devcoin? on: February 15, 2014, 08:02:38 AM
I'm going in on digitalcoin, especially with the upcoming developments (direct exchange to buy dgc for fiat).  I don't think you could go wrong with either, though.  I think both have a lot of headway for market growth.
903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The demise of DOGE and how it is affecting our income on: February 15, 2014, 06:58:35 AM
how we can make strong currency if everyone mine it just for quick profit? Mine and quick sell... oo mama it dropped to half.... what I will do?

If you're looking for a currency that really has a shot of going 'to da mune', then invest in something with a substantially smaller cap.  All you Max Keiser-esque sensationalists barking '$1 doge by 2015!!' need to have your heads examined.
904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Next cryptocurrency candidates for CoinEX on: February 15, 2014, 06:04:30 AM
You NEED to add VERT or you will continue losing out customers...it is one of the most actively new traded currencies out.

TIX, TIPS, MEOW, and Panda are all good volume traded coins.

Maybe even *gasp* MAXcoin.   (yes, I know...but still, this coin will probably garner a lot of new customers on your exchange, as it has huge publicity)
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DGC] DigitalCoin | Secure. Established. Active Development | Only 9% Mined on: February 14, 2014, 11:52:01 PM
I'm glad I'm holding my DGC. A big marketing push is just around the corner as mentioned by Baritus and CryptoAve is also due anyday now pending the BTC malleability related fixes. Good things come to those that wait  Smiley

Thats what makes me loose faith...everything is always 'just around the corner'

The marketing campaign was announced by Baritus on Jan24 to begin the week of Jan27.  So far nothing.

That's why I was skeptical that CryptoAve (that has been just around the corner since August) would open on the stated date of Feb10.  Baritus used the bad BTC news to justify the delay...but ask yourself if he really planned to launch on Feb10 wouldn't it have made just a pinch of sense to start the marketing campaign before that date to get the news out beyong the core DGC/SRC group.

So Feb10 came and went and opening re-announced to Feb14 with little more than a wisper.  Still no marketing.  Today is Feb14 and the news is the opening is delayed again.  Big surprise.

UNOCS 2.0

I'm backing up and loading the truck up on dgc right now.  But I agree with all points above.  The dev(s) have to know the fate of the coin is ultimately in their hands.  And despite the fact we do appreciate their work and tentative revamp of the coin, the constant procrastination and push-backs on updates is getting a bit tiresome.  There is still a ton of life left on this coin, but please don't cut it short by losing investor confidence!

*herp*You're biased.  I don't see the problem with monopolies.  BTC used to have monopolies early in its career.*herp*

Oh, how I feel for those absolute poor souls who bought into the first day sales when Maxcoins were pulling a ridiculous 0.01 btc PER coin.

Then again I realize, stupid people are needed in this ecosystem.  And for every shark, there is a pig led out to be slaughtered.

Bitcoin experienced the same in the early days. Rise up to few $ and drops all the way down to few cents. I'm sure there were lots of wise guys calling suckers those who stayed for the long haul.

Would anyone sell me a Bitcoin now for $10?

Call me in 10 years when bitcoin is still the gold standard of crypto currencies and maxcoin joins the litter of conversational pieces fathers will lecture their sons on regarding 'maxcoins and coinye, and what financial fuckups NOT to make in their own lives.'

Max will be back to hyping silver 'to the moon' while it forever stays stuck at 20 dollars once his half-assed crypto venture crashes n' burns.

909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 11, 2014, 09:54:16 AM
Am I the only one who loves the fact this coin is so difficult to mine efficiently?  Seems like it's going to keep the prices stable while others drown during crashes.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: WTS: ~7 million Coinye Coye on: February 11, 2014, 12:38:32 AM
Didn't this coin die?

Being rebranded as we speak.

As stated in title, I'm negotiable.  But also remember, you take risks and time putting your money on a smaller exchange.
911  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC-e Flash Crash 10/02/14 on: February 10, 2014, 01:51:51 PM
One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen in economics.  Ever.

Whoever was out of their right mind with sub 200 buy orders just scored themselves a nice early retirement bonus.

FML.
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / WTS: ~7 million Coinye Coye on: February 10, 2014, 08:14:58 AM
As title states, want to sell just a hare under 7 mill (6.9xxx mill) coinye, at rate of 0.03 per million, obo.

So let's say 0.2btc for the entire ~7 mill lot.  Can do small transactions or all in one via escrow...check my feedback.  Thanks.
913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy is trying to break me.. on: February 10, 2014, 03:18:50 AM
I mean were a public facing company with a hard address you can drive to. We have been around nearly a year now and have 170,000 users. Seems like the same 10-20 guys spamming this stuff over and over. Most of the team is available to help anyone who has an issue. Is it hard to get a hold of me sometimes? Sure there are 170,000 of you and one of me same goes for Mullick and Horus. Our support team is getting pretty efficient we just recently hired 4 more agents. I would bet we have a larger support staff than any other exchange.

Does that mean there might not be a guy or two slipped through the cracks? Sure it definitely could happen its something I worry about all the time. IF you really think we dont care your way off base and since I got your attention. Paul recently did this interview worth a listen.

I have to admit, I was beyond apprehensive to join cryptsy a few days ago, thinking I'd be experiencing lost or incomplete deposits.  But both of my btc deposits thus far went in seamlessly in under 10 minutes.   Purchased VTC just as easily.

Not so sure how I'll fare with the withdrawl process, but so far so good.
914  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The MtGox Debacle Explained on: February 10, 2014, 01:42:05 AM
Thank you kindly for the update.  Always comforting coming from a completely anonymous, unidentified source with no verifiable credentials.
915  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Cocks on: February 09, 2014, 05:10:02 AM
They are probably half way to the bahamas right now.   Does anyone know where the higher ups from Mt Gox are from.  Not that race has anything to do with it, but Japanese people are typically people of honor, and would never screw clients out of money.

I was wondering this too.  Even the japanese Yakuza have more honor than this and give back to the society.   The president looks european (possibly russian?).  I know people protested outside the headquarters, but are there even employees inside?  My best guess is that they packed up shop awhile ago.  Could have even been a makeshift 'front' for a headquarters.  Who knows.
916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoins ever replace conventional money? on: February 09, 2014, 01:59:29 AM
They will forever be an alternative to fiat, just like credit cards, money orders, and personal checks are alternatives for fiat.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Fiat will always ultimately be the easiest 'go to' method of payment anywhere in the world, be it in a small village in africa with no electricity, or the middle of tokyo.  But alt currency does indeed have its own purpose.
917  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox SCAM? $38million disappeared. Large sums affected. on: February 09, 2014, 01:56:44 AM
I'm just pissed the coinbase asking rate has been stuck at 698 all damn day.  Seems as though they're hedging quite a bit.

Give me btc at 650 and I'm a buyer!
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone is a victim not just the Gox customers on: February 09, 2014, 01:53:16 AM
Unfortunately bitcoin and all alt currencies in general are fighting an uphill battle against corruption/fraud/scams within its own community.  Forget about governments or government regulation.  There's enough scams and corruption on any btc or alt coin forum/website to make a grown man paranoid to the point of schizophrenia.

Absolutely.

Quote
So no.  I don't place the blame on governments.

Well, you should.

Just ask yourself the question, why are there so few exchanges that accept money worldwide, from US and non-US people? It is easy to acccept  SEPA, Swift and national transfers and send out BTC. A 12 year old can do that. It is not the technology, it is the aggression from governments, mainly USG, that stops entrepreneurs from doing that. They are afraid that one day, they will be kidnapped and abducted to the USA and spend 20 years in prison for a crimeless crime, even if they operated from a foreign country.

Or shops that accept cash and send you BTC, right away? Cash for BTC is 100% safe, all that is needed (technically) is a cash checker.

In theory there is nothing difficult about renting a small shop and doing that, then expanding to other locations to start a chain of cash-to-btc cafes. But sure enough, AML and KYC horrors will stop anyone from doing that as well.

There are BTC ATM's but even those require ID, fingerprints and so on - again that is not a technical requirement at all, technically all is needed is a cash checker and a bitcoin address.

If anonymous BTC ATM's would be everywhere, that alone would reduce scam dramatically. Only real cash for real btc, without the need for risky unknown counterparties or complicated AML procedures at an exchange.

What is holding BTC back today, is 10% private scammers and 90% government scammers IMHO  Sad

Put down the tin foil cap for a sec, bud.

I don't think you truly have a grasp of the situation.

The ONLY reason the government wants to partake in this endeavor, is because people are converting BTC to fiat, and many are not claiming taxable income on their earnings.  You really think any government would be cool with their citizens selling hundreds of millions (and potentially billions) of digital currency for fiat under the books?  You are truly living in a fantasy world.

With regulation comes responsibility.  Right now the BTC world is still basically a huge Silk Road bubble waiting to happen.  The ugly fact of the matter is that a great deal of the bitcoin users are using them for illegal methods or to attain illegal goods/services or simply scamming others out of their hard earned coins (without legal consequence)...and it's not something that is a positive contribution to society.

You can argue up and down about the government and their suppressive illuminati police state measures, but at the end of the day, we all are the ones living on their lands and using their resources.  Some on here may actually claim earnings on their convert btc stakes, but I'd say a good majority don't.

And until they all do, the government will consider btc and all alts a threat to circumvent the taxation system.

We need a system of controls badly, else what happened with Silk Road and Mt. Gox will ultimately become the norm in this virtual currency world and spell its demise.
919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Arrest in Florida of Localbitcoins Trader on: February 09, 2014, 01:46:31 AM
The arrest was held for no other reason than baiting him for credit card fraud.

Yes I agree that the charges related to fraud rather than to the use of bitcoin.  But unfortunately the way the article was written (as with many other articles in the media) it seems to infer that: bitcoin == illegal activity.  Thats how I would interperate the first few paragraphs of the article if I didn't know much about bitcoin.

That's why you read entire articles thoroughly before rushing to judgement.  The media machine is driven by key word titling and misleading excerpts.
920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Arrest in Florida of Localbitcoins Trader on: February 09, 2014, 12:24:45 AM
Jesus christ, OP.

lrn2read and lrn2forum.

The arrest was held for no other reason than baiting him for credit card fraud.  It doesn't matter if he was selling bitcoins or a used card.  They got him on fraud pretenses.  Nothing to do with bitcoin itself.

Simmer down and get ahold of yourself, goddamnt.
