901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Holders: Will you continue to hold or convert to Bitcoin? on: August 06, 2014, 02:32:36 AM
Litecoin is still a force to be reckoned with. Still holds second place behind btc.

The person that said litecoin has nothing over btc has not synced wallets lately or sent coins. Litecoin's wallet is quick to sync and transactions are fast compared to btc. You don't hear of many technical difficulties with litecoin or bugs. It works and it works well.

I agree ltc needs more PR.

It is encouraging to see established coins like TIPS fighting for their rightful place.

Makes no sense to buy the latest and greatest coin when you have no idea if it will be abandoned and left to die after it makes a few people a bit of money.

Let us support solid coins with committed devs; committed communities; history.  TIPS is a fine example of such.

903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: August 05, 2014, 03:47:40 AM
How can i help here? I have already bought lots of coins, but people are always dumping. Moreover i think that i was the guy who started the pump last week, but price is again down.

I think the best way to help is to just try and spend a few minutes everyday being active (with an optimistic slant) in the community, either here, on reddit, on the vertcoin forum, irc, twitter, or wherever you're online. If you can make applications or websites that use/support vert, even better, but I think everyone can help just by trying to put a few positive thoughts about vert online everyday. And try not to burn yourself, I guess Smiley

Well said.

Too many people panic over the price. Main thing is to be patient and positive. Vert has everything going for it.
Its not like Vert is alone with low prices; most coin markets have taken a huge hit. Smart traders are taking advantage of present prices and waiting it out.

For people who use gmail, don't forget you are giving up your privacy for free service.

You can be sure the other big players do the same. Gmail is just a bit more upfront about it.
905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] *New* Official Mintcoin Team Announced - New GitHub on: August 02, 2014, 06:42:09 PM
If the premine is no more, then why are we still advertising it like it still exists on the front page of this forum, Reddit, etc. I think we need to either get rid of it, or explain how/why there is no more premine.

Ill try to get everything updated in the am

Greetings!

New here in the MintCoin world and I have a few questions:

Is the coin total POS at this point?
If so, is there a MultiPool?
Is the info in the OP correct?
What happened to the original team/coin/etc?

Thanks in advance, on a smartphone so it would be a nightmare to read through all the posts to find out... Sorry!

I read earlier in the thread one of the original devs is working on another coin. This often happens in cryptocurrencies - devs chase the quick buck pumping out another coin for a few days or weeks of glory and profit.

Mintcoin has made public the real names of "Team Mint". http://mintcoin.cc/official-mintcoin-team/. This ushers in a new era of accountability and transparency in the altcoin scene. In short, Mint is not a scam coin and is here for the long run.

You can be well assured I loaded up on Mint at these low prices.

I've seen a guy in one of the troll boxes giving btc and other coins away. He hears a sob story and jumps right in to help. Of course. some have taken advantage of his kind heart. Wonder if its the same guy?

Hard to beat Gmail if only for their excellent 2FA. 2FA sms is invaluable to me and it should be to you too. Nothing worse than getting your email or exchange accounts hacked when you are dabbling with btc and altcoins.

Find me another email service with 2FA as good as Gmail's.
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] QIBUCK COIN - X13 - POW/POBH - 1st Proof of Baghold and asset backed. on: August 01, 2014, 01:57:13 AM
Thanks Qiwoman and silverkinguk.

I look forward to the show and future development of Qibuck coin.

I believe people are ready for integrity in the altcoin scene and will line up to buy a honest coin. I know I will.

Good luck.
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is real transparency coming to the altcoin scene? on: July 31, 2014, 11:50:49 PM
Mintcoin announced their new team. http://mintcoin.cc/official-mintcoin-team/

Looks like real names and real people behind a coin.

Bravo Mintcoin!

This coin is what we need right now. Too much SCAM coins are being hyped and dumped into the market.

Is real transparency coming to the altcoin scene? Mintcoin just announced their team. http://mintcoin.cc/official-mintcoin-team/

I would like to see Qibuck coin and others do the same.
911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] *New* Official Mintcoin Team Announced on: July 31, 2014, 11:34:16 PM
It brings me great pleasure to officially announce the new Mintcoin Team
http://mintcoin.cc/official-mintcoin-team/

Please spread the word!

Very impressive. We rarely see real names attached to coins. Glad I'm an investor.
912  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Browser You Use on: July 31, 2014, 12:20:22 AM
I was expecting to see a larger portion of Tor users. Huh  Maybe most of them just don't want to advertise their browser choices. Wink

Who actually uses Tor as their main browser? Tor is used to fulfill "illegal" or"blackhat" needs for most users, instead of regular use.

Torbrowser is another privacy tool period. While it can be used for "illegal" or "blackhat" needs, many of us simply want to avoid eavesdropping from isp or network admins.
913  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Browser You Use on: July 30, 2014, 11:16:23 PM
Chromium, Torbrowser, Qupzilla, and Firefox.

Firefox keeps picking up PUA.script and PUA.Phishing.Bank files in its cache as identified by ClamAV. I've yet to narrow down where they come from and its pissing me off. Can't use Firefox for anything important.
914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: alt coin markets looks more and more like a scam circus, how to save it on: July 30, 2014, 10:03:29 PM
i think it's time to collect some ideas how to stop this scene-collective-suicide happening right now in alt coin markets

the point is: there are too many scams

too many scams lead to a complete abandon of exchanges by traders, less trust in bitcoin in general and a collective discontent for the constant losses of money and trust

i already stopped trading after 3 scam-coins one after another.. i've got small losses, don't really care about the money i lost, more important i lost all my trust in any ANN or new project.. this stop me to invest in any new interesting coin, i probably will not put any more money in this for a while

what we can actively do to stop this massacre?

- we need a professional alt coin exchange

i used mintpal till beginning, it has a great interface (and poor graphs), for a while acted professionally then the greed start eating their souls and basically adding all that shit-coins (isis?!?? lol) turned out to be a quite fast suicide

how to define a professional exchange?

- adding coin with serious intentions and projects, real world implementations etc. with at least few months of life

- give rich infos of every coin listed, with developers details and contacts, coin specs details, whitepaper, history and graphs.. is not that difficult to dedicate a single page to each coin with all the juicy details

- requests based on btc donations / votings should be ignored

more ideas?

Excellent post.

Exchanges have shot themselves in the foot. They rode the shitcoin wave and made a mint. Now the money is drying up. What will they do now that they have f*cked themselves?

As far as "professional" exchange goes, btc-e is the only one I know of that is close in the altcoin scene.

Traders have the power to lever change.

915  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Developer Needed ( Galactic coin ) Sun coin Rebirth on: July 30, 2014, 08:50:33 PM
Why choose another name? Suncoin is one of the best coin names out there.

I understand the coin/community are very quiet. Have they given up? Too bad if the coin has been abandoned. I have fond memories of the profits I made trading.

Good luck reviving Suncoin.
916  Economy / Economics / Re: Solution to poverty - Socialism or Capitalism? on: July 29, 2014, 11:27:51 PM
"Socialism or Capitalism?"

Not a lot of difference between the two in reality. Both rife with corruption and greed. Money is always funnelled to the already rich and powerful in both cases. The poor stay poor.
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bittrex, Scammer or Scammed. on: July 29, 2014, 07:52:42 PM
"But at the current rate of scam, I would expect that Bittrex will soon be ready to make their grand finale, the infamous  "we got hacked" scam   Grin"

I've been worried about this for awhile since exchange revenues went down. Needless to say, I've left nothing of value on Bittrex and a couple of others. We just got lucky with Mintpal and their recent hacking.
Everyone would be well advised to move assets to safety.
918  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what exchange do u use? on: July 29, 2014, 03:49:46 PM
Btc-e gets my vote.

They don't add a new shitcoin everyday and delist them when volume drops off. They have their selection of coins and they stick with them. Other exchanges could take lessons.

They have the worst selection of altcoins. I honestly can't believe they still list NVC & TRC over something else.

I agree. I still respect btc-e for sticking by these coins and their customers who trade them.

920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] July 26th 2014 Mintcoin Community Update on: July 29, 2014, 01:16:50 AM

I was wondering if it could affect Mintcoin (being one of the "removed coin"). Well, even though we are on the first page, we are pretty low on it. It would be good to coordinate a campaign toward Moolah to not be removed, stressing out that we are relaunching, the dev premine thing being over. Being delisted now would be very detrimental, just when we are going back.

Of course, maybe Moolah doesn't intend to delist us. But it is better to ask before they announce they will, it will prove we are proactive.

Among other news, I donated 50000 MINT to Linux Mint. It was the distro that shipped with the machine I am typing the post. It is a great open source project and I might even be the first to donate Smiley

Hi,

It is my pleasure to send you 50000 MINT. Linux Mint was the distro that shipped with my Mintbox when I bought it. I chose the Mintbox because it is environemently-friendly: both for the atmospheric environement (low electricity) and for the accoustic environment (silent). Since Mintcoin is a cryptocurrency about sustainable development, this just made sense!

Keep working on Linux Mint, what you are doing matters.

I've updated computers to the new Mint Xfce. It really is a class act operating system. Maybe one of the reasons I've always liked Mintcoin; another class act.
