901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have $10 in Bitcoin. What coin should I invest in? on: September 02, 2015, 05:04:20 AM
You can invest in altcoin which has a low price and then sell it at a high price. does not always ascending, but you can try it: D

That's what I meant by 'investing'....as in 'what/which altcoin(s) to invest in'  Wink

You're already invested in bitcoin.  Let it ride or add more.  You don't have enough to invest in any altcoin and you'll lose some of your capital in fee's just transferring and making trades..

Edit:

If you're dead set on investing in an altcoin then this is what you do with you're $10 in bitcoin.  Take half and buy enough of some cheap coin that has masternodes.  There are several that you could buy enough to fund one if not more masternodes.  Use the rest of the btc to get a $5 vps on vulture to host the masternode.  Vultr accepts bitcoin.  Setup masternode and collect payments.  Hope that the value of the coin will go up.  You will most likely not increase your bitcoin and in fact your bitcoin wealth will decrease.  But you will be able to sit back and watch your altcoin balance grow.  And who knows?  Maybe you'll pick the one that a pump group will pick up and you'll be able to cash out at $50 in bitcoin.

There are many ways to increase your bitcoin wealth even in times of downturns.  The problem you have is that you don't have enough capital and you don't know what to do.

Thanks for the vps idea - I've been looking for something like vultr for a while now!

No question about you need to investing in DopeCoin  Tongue
902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the Best Marijuana Coin? on: September 02, 2015, 03:37:41 AM
The Marijuana industry will not be using any of these coins or any cryptocurrency for that matter for sales transactions.  At least not in the United States and I'll tell you why.

Currently there are no banks that will deal with the Marijuana businesses in the United States because although it might be legal at the state level in some states it's still a schedule 1 controlled substance under federal law.   Because of that the banks will not conduct business with the dispensaries operating in states like Colorado, Washington, and Oregon.  These dispensaries deal strictly in cash because they do not have access to banking.   Just what are they going to do with a cryptocurrency that they will need to convert to bitcoin and then cash?  There is no avenue for them to convert cryptocurrency to cash because they do not have access to banking services.  Until these businesses have some method of converting cryptocurrency into cash they will not be accepting them for transactions.

I have been to dispensaries in Colorado and Washington and they are doing a robust business.  I don't think that they will complicate their business model by adding a payment that would just add to the legal and financial maze that they are already dealing with.

I'm not making any judgement on any of these coins.  It's the concept that the marijuana industry in the United States will adopt a cryptocurrency anytime soon that is faulty.

Hey Shojayxt. I get what you are saying. It is illegal under federal law currently this is true.  I just think at some point those restrictions will be lifted and 'weedcoins' and Bitcoin will be poised to strike. We are working on a merchant platform that will automatically convert so theoretically that can act like the 'bank' so to speak.  The reason they will add crypto is because of the digital ease of it . Just like Bitcoin has made payments so easy , there will be niche coins to fill this need for Cannabis. Good debate ShoJayxt.  Grin

Stop in on DopeCoins thread and say hi sometime Wink
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=467641.6060

The problem is that the restrictions with banking are strangling the Marijuana industry.  I know people in the industry and they would like nothing more than to be able to conduct business with Bank of America, US Bank, etc...  Cash is good but these guys need someplace to put that cash.  It's dangerous and the wrong element is aware of the amounts of cash these establishments deal with.  You also need a bank account to conduct any significant btc to fiat transactions.  I've been to shops in Colorado and Washington.  They're packed most of the day with customers.  They don't want to  hold on to that cash.  They would rather be able to deposit it at "Name your bank".  Unfortunately, Federal law in the United States says Marijuana is worse than Cocaine.  Banks are not going to do business with any entity until the federal law is rescinded.  If you live in the United States then write your Representatives and Senators.  Heck, send a letter to the President himself asking him to decriminalize Marijuana.  The more the better.  It's insane that in some states you can be locked up for twenty years for having a joint.

Right, I know cash is still king.  I'm working on a way to have it still where people can put their cash into coins and it store it away till needed .  I'll see what I can do  because that is the future . A bank for "weed'.

A DopeCoin Member pointed that we are mentioned in this Federal Reserve Article:
https://cbcfrs.org/articles/2015/q2/virtual-currencies

Launched in 2009, Bitcoin is currently the largest and most popular virtual currency. However, many other virtual currencies have emerged over the past several years, such as Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Peercoin.1 Meanwhile, even more virtual currencies are being developed; one of these is Dash (formerly Darkcoin), which offers even more anonymity and privacy than that provided by Bitcoin. Another new and specialized virtual currency is DopeCoin, which was developed for those who wish to purchase marijuana, either legally or illegally.
910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EB94 – Gavin Andresen: On The Blocksize And Bitcoin's Governance on: September 01, 2015, 02:33:40 AM
Can we just ask the simple question of how does BIP or XT effect the average holder?... we can't all afford to spend the time analyzing alternatives.

It doesn't. The average users really don't have to matter.

I agree with what you just said there. Very true.

"Dopay" into polish language is sounds like synthesis of words:
Popeye sailor + ass
LOL

seriously now
mayby something like DOPESHOP.com

or DOPYSHOP Smiley

Dopyshop sounds bad. Dopeshop is already taken. You have to find another name.

True. DopyShop sounds sort of bad.  DopeShop was taken a bit ago.

My two picks and maybe I didn't mention it are:

DopeShopper.com
DopeMarket.com

Btw:  http://metamarket.biz/   is a decentralized marketplace and I've made contact with them about adding a pull request to accept DopeCoin so this is something we'll be looking into. It was on our bounties list also.

Its working for me now, i downloaded old fastpackDopeCoinV3 blockchain (04/10/2015) https://mega.co.nz/#!kFchTSaJ!0qb_x7bHtkd1GnhGg-sCXGQqqdpgx7UA3NdRgXjpZkg

starting at 53 percent is allot better than 2.25 percent. Starting up your dopecoin wallet takes a while after you install either of the fast packs.
Difficulty has plummeted down to 0.08  so synching with the rest of the network will be allot quicker. I highly recommend the new people download one of the fast packs (old one worked for me).

If the old fast sync is working for you, then you are on the old wallet, this explains why the fast start pack I issued yesterday (3rd time lucky) worked for every body else and not for you and it also explains your lack of peers, as new wallets will only allow connections from equal or newer versions, update your wallet to 3.1.0.0 and the pack start again from the pack I Issued yesterday and you should only have 1 day work of syncing to do and should get more peers, also delete peers.db

How do i get the update??? I can ony find the old version . Hopefully its not on the dopecoin website as its down again.
I have a feeling its on the dopecoin website as a google search of the version you mention does not lead me anywhere.

https://www.google.ca/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dopecoin++3.1.0.0

Born try to the 1st page of the OP here right ? latest wallet there and latest fast-sync.

Shop4Dope.com

This gets my Vote as easiest too remember and gets the point across in the url alone.

Yes, this is true. I'll make note of this  Grin

It's called hell.

You have to dig your way out of it.

All the community has to do is realize that only a few matter for the success of the crypto world and the nonsense ends.

Until then Game of Thrones continues.

Haha not sure if its hell ,but I guess that is one way to look at it....onward to the game of thrones...
