Since they are not shutting down, please change the thread title. There is no reason to cause unneeded alarm.
Too me it looks like they are shut-down for good.

You can trade on 1:1 leverage and short, can not do this on other exchanges.

Bitcoinica should start its own independent service and provide some real competition to Mt. Gox.

I also found out about Bitcoin from Max Keiser.

Well you've called it a few times, but I think your wrong about this one.
Next move is UP, correction is over.

So what's the time-frame on that inau?

so i've been shamelessly slaughtering any bears who make refutable points. That's . . . not a very nice way to treat a bear!

I got spiked with a stop order two days ago. I was only trial trading with a few bitcent, so it was a cheap price for an important lesson learned.
Back to sleepless nights.

If you followed the discussions, you would know that you wouldn't be trapped in a position. Trading restriction only applies on new positions. You can close any position any time. This is guaranteed now.
OK, thanks. I must have missed that post.

Dear Mr Z,
I have been mucking around on Bitcoinica for about a month now, with a small amount of coins. I think the site is excellent and I'm very impressed.
However, the possibility of becoming trapped in a position (due to no reserve) is stopping me from moving more money to your site.
Is this something that will be fixed in the future?

Did someone mention bears.

Thanks all for comments, exactly what I was after.
Will rethink the problem of scalable alternative.

Validating transactions.
Nodes would support 'getInputPath' and 'getOutputPath' messages.
Called node will return a 'not found' message if block is not in its tree, or if it finds the block it will return a 'block chain'.
The returned block chain is the path from the nodes position in the tree to the found block. Like Bitcoin we accept the longest block chain, or in this case deepest rightest most.

Sorry for my description being so vague.
I am talking about the structure of the block chain and not the network topology.
The client can be set as root so that it stores the whole tree, or set to a depth of 1 with path 'left' stores the left side of tree, or set to a depth of 1 with path 'right' stores the right side of tree. or set to a depth of 2 with path 'left, left' stores left left quarter of tree ... ... ...

A vague idea to improve scalability.
Instead of a block chain, how about a block tree.
You start with the root or genesis block and all branches must be filled breadth first from left to right. So all blocks have order and could be viewed as a chain.
Nodes have a position in the tree, so a full node has a depth of 0 and no path. A half node would be at depth 1 and a binary path of either 'left' or 'right' etc. Nodes can be at any depth and must have a path to a branch in the tree.
A node only has to deal with blocks relevant to its position, that is the path blocks to its location in the tree and the sub-tree blocks that come after.
This would allow people running the client to select how much of their resource they want to donate to the network. A quarter node for example would only use a quarter of the resources.
Please criticise.

Its great to have an alternative to mtgoxlive, its always going down.
Could you add the trades that come up on the top right of mtgoxlive.
Nice +one

Sorry to disappoint everyone, but there's an ice-age on the way.

Have you tested these:-
1) Adequate power supply 2) Overheating 3) Bad corrupt driver 4) Conflict with other software/driver
