901  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Could I put a bitcoin miner in my yard buried underground in a sealed box? on: December 05, 2023, 03:59:35 PM
Oil filled container? You would have heating issues from that more so because it is in a sealed box.

Problems with the local water supply and type of soil might affect the heat dissipation but not sure about a sealed box. Maybe you can experiment with a heating device in the same setup and see how much the soil is being affected and how much the device is getting heated?

Like @seek3r said, weather issues is the biggest problem which seems to downplay it.

Another point to raise is whether soil temperature affect the flora and fauna, my guess is that it would, but I cant confirm.

How you access the devices in case you have to physically get hold of them is another question.
902  Local / India / Re: Future of Indian Economy on: December 04, 2023, 04:53:11 PM
We are emerging economically, but at a slow rate, in other sectors we are developing apart from healthcare which has slumped down.

These things are not in our direct control, but we have to adjust ourselves to meet the economic trend, so allow it to take its own course while you plan on how to manage savings, earn and grow your wealth.

Crypto has little role to play here, the top GDP countries also have the proportionally high crypto ownership and users.
903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gambling and Invest in gambling. on: December 04, 2023, 04:43:50 PM
The worst part of it is most of these local gamblers don't even work so how do you expect them to pay you back.
Lending to gamblers is tricky but possible to run a good business from. As a matter of fact, the Lending section of this forum is financing mostly loans for gambling or trading.

But doing this locally in your neighborhood where everyone knows each others underwear colors, it would not be recommended. Either run a pawn shop or be a shark in your local, which is often the case in many under-developed countries. These lenders need to have connections with the local police, mafia and goons in order to live. Its not a safe job at all.

I hope the OP finds something else to interest them, like investing in a casino bankroll, like I suggested to many others.
904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A noobie question about secret words on: December 04, 2023, 04:31:52 PM
Wallet has worked well. However I'm a noobie with this stuff. If I buy another computer and download Electrum software there do I need to use recover words?
Use the link @bitmover posted, bookmark it if necessary. Remember that to recover the wallet you need your seed phrase.

Quote
They are behind username and password currently but I'm not sure are they bound to physical device somehow and what point do I need to use recover words.
I dont know if there is a username involved, but there is a wallet naming and a password to encrypt the wallet. These are only required to access the wallet on the device where it already loaded up. You will not need them on a new device where you want to load up your wallet again. There you will need the seed phrase once again and after that you can encrypt that wallet with a different password.

I understood coins are being held on Electrum servers.
This is wrong. Coins are never stored in servers. The coins are accessible by your private key, electrum is only the "window" to access the blockchain.
905  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: December 04, 2023, 03:50:58 PM
Guess how much a freeroll is getting now at basic? 5 satoshis (rounded up but it's actually more like 0.48+ satoshi now)!
With bitcoin price rising I can see that the freeroll is going to be even less attractive to users. The most we can hope for it hitting one of the top tier rolls and end up with a decent prize once a while. I think the multiply BTC and Earn BTC sections are to be given more importance. But then again prices are rising and people might be getting conservative about their BTC spending.

Exchanging the RP to freeroll increments for limited period only if you have access to your device almost all day is also a good option to take once a while.
906  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is forum reputation enough to influence mixers? on: December 04, 2023, 03:46:50 PM
Since mixers will be soon be rejected on the forum due to the heat they are bringing from the government, do you think that the reputation of the forum and the rejection of these mixers from the forum will be enough to force them to change the way they mix their coins?
The forum is a place to discuss about things and that includes mixers. The stance that the administration here faces mixing services with may influence the way they market their services in the forum but it is unrealistic to think that forum policies will influence them on how they function. After all, there is a huge world outside this forum which influences these services way more because it part of their customer base.

Mixers are out of this forum from the coming year, no use shedding tears about it.

908  Local / India / Re: Oh digital rupee is already live!? on: December 03, 2023, 06:03:04 AM
I am still waiting to see how the digital rupee system is going to work out.

The pilot project registration was already started and I think I saw some news articles regarding this but it quickly faded out and is out of the buzz at this point. Regardless so is the CBDC buzz from the net.

I think UPI/banking will be seperate from digital rupee which is supposed to be a CBDC.
909  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: December 03, 2023, 05:59:31 AM
But, in a broader sense, can you make gambling a career path, abandoning all other sources of income to focus entirely on it?
The only and only method to make gambling a career path is to be the casino's owner and not play in it.

Gambling is a business and that from the player's side is a net loss, so it cannot be a career path as a player - you might argue that poker players do. That is because their main income is not from the games but the affiliate marketing they get into, the promotions they launch and the stuff they sell. In between they play a bit to be on the camera and that too with different companies money added to their own money.

The first line is just another extension of the "If you cant beat 'em, Join 'em!"
910  Other / Meta / Re: Was the forum better before without Merit or is it better now with Merit? on: December 03, 2023, 05:55:54 AM
I was here 2years before the merit system was started and I am still here after 5years of the merit system.

The good thing/or so we thought, was that alt-accounts would reduce in number and account farming would be discouraged, although the second point has fairly been effective, they eventually are managing to rank up and introduce their own into multiple campaign and defraud them like previously. In other words, there are loopholes and its not perfect, but sometimes merit ends up being a distraction rather than engaging in the community.

So my opinion is that not much has changed, we had bootlickers previously and we still have, its just how democracy works. Suck it up and continue on your one man army life.
911  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is purchase of amazon gift cards legal and legit? on: December 03, 2023, 05:50:55 AM
I have been using Bitrefill for buying local grocery store gift cards for more than a year now, I have seen they offer Amazon gift cards too but I have never tried them.

The gift cards are issued by
Code:
Qwikcilver Solutions Private limited ("Qwikcilver")
from their terms and conditions section. Do give than a read in case you are willing to buy on their site and try it out.

Not sure about the legal issues though, but only good reviews on the site so far.

Fees are huge though. Wink
912  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Since 2013 | Longest Running Crypto Casino | 113 BTC Jackpot! on: December 03, 2023, 05:41:14 AM
In fact it seems so clever it makes me wonder why wouldn't new casinos just offer this service, no matter if they are part of related casino.
Ssure, casinos would lose money used to put in by account growers, but they would surely get those highroller players, and those customers are harder to come by.
High rollers from what I have seen are divided, some of them want the VIP system and get treated like some king while others dont care and just want to roll high on a new account created everyday and cash out to come back on a new one. For the second group of players, I dont see the account migration thing being of any use. But the first one might want this to happen in future.

Still I dont see any effect on the staff doing anything of this sort right away, maybe in near future.
913  Economy / Reputation / Re: Royse777 will not pay anyone for the last week /Sinbad campaign/ on: December 03, 2023, 05:38:33 AM
People, do you want your money to be kept by Royse777? Just because he cares about you.
Not a campaign participant myself and neither is the OP, but I worry more about Royse777's well-being surrounding this case rather than the fact of one week of blotched campaign payments. Not to mention the campaign participants who may get dragged up to this if any further movement from that escrow wallet if occurs.

Making the spreadsheets public but with the address's tab omitted seems to be a option worth seeking. Although it is fairly easy to check up public addresses posted by any user and also helps track alt-accounts from that data if kept public.
914  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: December 02, 2023, 06:13:36 PM
It is true that we cannot completely trust third parties, but we can choose the right place for our money, even though the wallet is not completely safe either, there are also some cases of them losing their money in the wallet either because of phishing sites or others, all of them It depends on each user how they want to store their money, third party sites like exchanges or sites like freebitcoin.
I can see there are two opinions about this , just like in any other debate Grin

Just consider this, the site started offering the daily interest scheme back in 2018-2019 and now we have crossed 4years and if you all would have put in 10BTC each you would all have a profit of 1.63+BTC because the site did not get hacked nor did the owner turn scam during these few years.

Consider that as a savings account and just put in the spare you can allow. I think this goes both ways as to putting in a risky asset in your portfolio and reaping the fixed profit.
915  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slot games are a waste of time and money (most of the time) on: December 01, 2023, 06:09:20 AM
Slot games are part of the games which have a negative expected value. It is easy to start playing and takes no skills from your part.

The games are attractive by its colours, animation and sounds which feeds the gambler's mind with good emotions and a sens of winning when actually they are losing money on every spin.

Once a while those specials will roll in, but by the time that happens the player would have already lost a lot.

Visit the land based casinos in Vegas and you will find people stuck on slot machines for days with nothing but losses playing like zombies.
916  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Goodbye Philippines for Binance. on: December 01, 2023, 06:05:49 AM
PH is a country full of crypto users. I hope my fellow members there will extract their coins out of Binance quickly. They should move to local exchanges, P2P and DEXs. No international exchange is forever, this event only solidifies this fact as the truth.

Local exchanges actually have a good opportunity to catch these users who have lost their prefered exchange and willing to use a new one.

I would not suggest my fellow members to use a VPN to bypass the block when it comes in future. You will be putting yourself at risk.
917  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: November 30, 2023, 08:59:53 AM
As long as even one user is using bitcoin it is not shut down. It is censorship-resistant meaning that governments cannot stop it because they don't like. It is decentralised which means that no central body is in control of it which makes it even more difficult to stop let alone, shut down.

Market crash is something secondary to a negative news. It is not what is shutting down would actually infer though maybe for centralised coins like Ripple this might be a useful term.

Hackers are knowledgeable enough to not attempt to stop bitcoin, they would rather try to steal coins.
918  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mempool fees and Solutions on: November 30, 2023, 08:56:29 AM
In this context I would like to raise a question on how do you confirm that an accelerator service actually helped your transaction speedup or was it just a placebo effect?
If you successfully submit your transaction to an accelerating service, you will know they accelerated your transaction because it would be included in the next block mined by the mining pool. If you use a paid tx accelerating service, then your tx can either be mined by the pool themselves or their cooperating pools. Take note that there are a lot of scam accelerating services and some who only rebroadcast tx's, but collect payment from gullible bitcoiners for that.
The second point is exactly what is happening to many users out there. If they are not showing which pool they are working with and just rebroadcast the transaction they are essentially running a scam. However more work needs to be done from our side to shine such scammers without any loophole and outcast them from the forum.

Some of them are nicely operating from this forum itself which makes me cringe.

920  Other / Meta / Re: Has Bitcointalk lost it's appeal for projects to announce themselves on? on: November 29, 2023, 10:01:27 AM
What do you think is the reason? Has bitcointalk lost it's charm?
Yeah most of them either ended up as failures of downright scams. You are right they losing their habit of coming here, but they are doing this because they are getting "Victims" to scam here with their vaporware and rugpulls.

If you have a community which is hardened enough to call out every other scam from the core and expose their red flags, you would not want to come there unless you have a legitimate project at hand that you are proud of.

I would rather see a handful of legit projects run their ANNs here than a multitude of scams run their bullshit.
