9021  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 30, 2020, 11:09:19 PM
Nice pump, hope the guy who tried to drop the price hours ago bites his ass.

Actually it's not the first pump that maybe started with a fake dump (or got triggered by a real dump?)
9022  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-05-30] China: Parliament passes law allowing inheritance of Bitcoin on: May 30, 2020, 06:24:42 PM
I do not see any hidden intention in this

Well, this works only if one passes KYC, so the government knows about his funds. And this leads sooner or later to some taxes (especially when they will sell crypto).
Nothing unusual, in theory at least, since people are supposed to pay taxes on the income from their investments (in some countries may be even for their possessions, but I don't know how is it in China).
9023  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.trezor.app on: May 30, 2020, 04:43:18 PM
Why are hardware wallets apps ratings so bad on Google Play? I have read some of the comments and they seem logical because of unresolved problems, but why don't you do these famous wallets solve them?
https://imgur.com/a/RMZXDm5
I want to buy some hardware wallets, but these ratings make me think again.
Does anyone know what the reasons are for this?

1. How to solve? Add fake ratings? Is that the best solution?
2. The Google play ratings worth nothing. One late example is the apps used by teachers for online courses getting bad reviews from the kids for the sole purpose to avoid making the classes. Gmail addresses are for free, remember?
3. Although Ledger and Trezor wallets are good, at least the Ledger application... has some room for improvement (I don't know about Trezor). But that's not a problem since there are enough good established wallets that work fine with both Trezor and Ledger hardware.

I didn't read those reviews since I only use Ledger Live for installing apps and updates. The reviews about the apps may be legit, but I don't think that 1* reflects reality, hence my point 1.
Again, the actual hardware wallet is good.
9024  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance API - How to check wallet status? on: May 30, 2020, 10:53:19 AM
Would this be enough? By making a new deposit address it will give out a success true or false status and supply you with a address so you know you can deposit.
https://github.com/binance-exchange/binance-official-api-docs/blob/master/wapi-api.md#deposit-address-user_data

I don't know. My guess was Asset Detail, on the same page, since it has

"depositTip": "Delisted, Deposit Suspended" //reason

You can see a couple of posts earlier.

But it's just a guess. Some input from these guys is needed if we want to get somewhere.
9025  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Cumpără Bitcoin fără KYC: ATM-ul Bitcoin din Milano care respectă anonimitatea on: May 30, 2020, 10:06:27 AM
Așa că sunt mai priceput cu limba romānă decāt calendarul romānesc, așa cum credeam că 15 mai a trecut deja și īn Romānia!

Am corectat inainte sa postezi  Wink

9026  Local / Romānă (Romanian) / Re: Cumpără Bitcoin fără KYC: ATM-ul Bitcoin din Milano care respectă anonimitatea on: May 30, 2020, 09:57:08 AM
However, if any Romanian member has precise information about the ShitCoins.club ATMs, please let us know Smiley

9027  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:52:03 AM
I wonder If these disk wiping programs were legit?

When I've used such a program, years ago, on a proper old-fashion HDD, it seemed to do what it said: made the data unrecoverable. At least from my tests back then it was so.
However, in SSD era, all this doesn't matter anymore.
9028  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:44:13 AM
It doesn't have a classic hard-drive. It has an NVME, its already at the top of the performance chart hard-drive wise. I'll probably end up buying a new NVME to replace it before the new one arrives.

Then indeed the overwrite method may not work.
So: either new wallets and account settings (maybe it's time for a hardware wallet too), either new SSD.
9029  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance API - How to check wallet status? on: May 30, 2020, 09:40:20 AM
My bad, Thought the coin status was enough.

symbol: "ETHBTC",
status: "TRADING",
baseAsset: "ETH",

I think that they need something like

    "depositTipStatus": false,
    "depositTipEn": null,
    "depositTipCn": null,

(source: https://web.archive.org/web/20181031060538/https://www.binance.com/assetWithdraw/getAllAsset.html )

Of course, it would be of use to find out what these guys really want, but all they say (for now) is that a certain web page doesn't work. (Interesting enough at some point it worked for me.)
9030  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance API - How to check wallet status? on: May 30, 2020, 09:22:34 AM

Yep, this works, but it doesn't tell if a wallet is in maintenance or not, which is what these guys seem to need.
9031  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would you do before selling your laptop? on: May 30, 2020, 09:13:48 AM
There are programs that overwrite your harddisk with random data, cluster by cluster. I've needed one long ago for Windows, I don't know what you use, but I'm sure a search will help you out. That should be pretty safe.

Another idea would be to make on the new laptop completely new wallets for the crypto you've used and transfer your coins to the new wallets. Of course, you'll also need to change the passwords and 2FA for all the accounts if you are this paranoid.  Smiley But I think that proper full overwrite should do.
9032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vaccine against Covid-19 should be made before sports events will take place? on: May 30, 2020, 08:48:47 AM
There has never been a successful vaccine for the coronavirus group of viruses, not a successful vaccine for Sars, Mers, the common cold.

Do not be the guinea pigs if your country's health care system declares that they have the vaccine available hehe.

Well pointed out. Everybody talks about vaccines like they'd be the holy grail. No.
Medicines that help the body fight this, ameliorate symptoms, help recovery may be easier to get discovered and approved. Yes, most probably they are not as profitable as vaccines...
9033  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Watching-only wallet on Electrum using Ledger Nano S on: May 30, 2020, 08:32:31 AM
Just want to confirm this is the correct way if it involves a hardware wallet.

As long as you re-create from the master public key, you are doing it correctly.
Your [2] looks very good to me.

Also if you want to just check the balances, a very easy approach is on your phone, at least if it's Android.
Install Mycelium, plug in the Ledger to have your wallet in, then you'll have the option to check the balance whenever you want without the hardware wallet on your phone. Of course, you'll be able to spend only with the Ledger connected again.
9034  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crazy idea for a community project: empty compromised paper wallets on: May 30, 2020, 06:38:46 AM
Should I pursue this?

only if you have extra time at your hand

Time and possibly resources too.

Step 2 is where I don't know how to do it (yet), but I do know there are brain wallet hunters out there who use a similar system to steal funds.

I never wrote anything like that, so I'll be speaking only theoretically.

You need to run a node that listens to new transactions, it should match the output addresses of all new transactions against this database of compromised addresses, when it finds a match the program will make a CPFP transaction with high fee that spends the unconfirmed output. This transaction would ideally be pushed directly to miners, instead of relying on normal propagation. If this method fails, you can try to wait for the transaction to get 1 confirmation and then try to sweep it.

It actually would interesting to look at the addresses of the victims of this fraud, if the coins get stolen in the same block as the incoming transaction, then the thieves use the CPFP method and you should do the same to have a chance to beat them.

I also didn't do this, but there could be a way without full node (so less resources on OP side) : use Electrum wallet (I found this, but I don't know whether it works) or maybe do what Electrum does and work directly with ElectrumX servers (blockchain.address.subscribe looks very promising)

However, if these notifications won't work you may need your own server  Undecided (hence resources)
9035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will CPU PoW coins have a future? on: May 30, 2020, 06:09:31 AM
Do you think CPU coins will have a future? Or is everything "dead lost"? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

It depends by what you mean "have a future".

Bitcoin has shown us that the more the mining actually costs (for industrial miners) the more the coin will be valuated on the free market (usually). And that's quite normal, since the miners are expected to be the big sellers.

Of course, a coin can be considered pretty successful (have a future) without being super expensive. The blockchain is stable, there are services built around the coin and so on.

Unfortunately there are 2 problems here:
1. In most people's mind success means money and this pretty much rules out CPU coins.
2. CPU coins have "low power" blockchains, meaning that there's always a risk that a script kiddie with a botnet behind himself may be able to ruin it.

Both https://www.binance.com/assetWithdraw/getAllAsset.html and https://api.binance.com/api/v1/exchangeInfo worked when I called in my browser.
So instead of bumping a 2 years old thread, please start another one with much more info, explaining in more words your actual problem, maybe add some code too, so people can actually help you.

Indeed getAllAsset.html seems not to be working anymore.
I think that you may have to use https://github.com/binance-exchange/binance-official-api-docs/blob/master/wapi-api.md#asset-detail-user_data, but that'll need your user signature, as described https://github.com/binance-exchange/binance-official-api-docs/blob/master/wapi-api.md#signed-trade-and-user_data-endpoint-security

I may give it a try in the near future, if nobody else posts a solution.
9038  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin themed t-shirts - feeback on our designs on: May 29, 2020, 08:16:04 AM
In line with our thoughts! I just posted other designs! I'd like to know yours on these too!

I'm somewhat disappointed that the other designs have dropped Satoshi's quote, but maybe it'll come back in a nicer design.
From the new batch the most I like t2.png. It's not perfect, but I like the idea and the comparison.

9040  Economy / Goods / Re: Bitcoin themed t-shirts - feeback on our designs on: May 28, 2020, 10:40:53 AM
I will share with you some of the design we made, please express your feedback! Thank you!

Sorry to say, I don't like it. The Satoshi quote is cool, but the image with the thinking/unconvinced person and those paths/thoughts I don't like.
Maybe I'm old fashioned, but money or payments may go better. I mean, since we don't care to convince them, we don't pay attention to the direction of their thought, we just presenting what we have: "A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System"(TM)
