9041  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Bouny Hunter: MTGOX 600K BTC thief bounty discussion on: July 15, 2018, 10:30:47 AM
Guys, this is an old thread that Roger Ver opened back then, when this was still applicable. I think most of the investigations are done now and some victims of this are going to get back a small percentage of their money. We might never know who was really behind all of this, but I guess pseudo anonymity has proven that it is working for both the criminals and the legitimate users.

Would have been nice to know if this was a inside job or a independent Black hat or a government sanctioned hack.   Angry Angry Angry
9042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you see crypto-currency take us in the next 5, 10, 15 or 20+ years? on: July 15, 2018, 09:47:14 AM
The PoS and PoW thing has been discussed to death already and most people prefer PoW over PoS.  Roll Eyes  I think the most important reason why most people use Bitcoin is because of the privacy aspect of it, so we should never make sacrifices on privacy to satisfy these governments need for control.

If they do change this in the future, people would move back to PoW based coins and this would have accomplished nothing.   Tongue

I have argumented these numbers for years, but the standard answer is always " Not every user of Freebitco.in is registered on this forum " , so we are not going to get more than that.  Grin

Not only are most of our users not on this forum the vast majority of them prefer to enjoy their winnings in private. Why do you find a forum post of a screenshot of an email more convincing than a provably fair system?

I base this on the feedback that are received on the bigger Freeroll prizes that are won, with the faucet. <See other thread> The people there are almost going through the roof with excitement over $20 and I would have thought if someone have won bigger prizes in the Lottery, they would have gone crazy.

We are dealing with almost 1600 winners in +/- 3 years, so it is strange that we not seeing people raving about Lottery prizes too. It is after all ranging from $10 to $12 000, weekly.  Roll Eyes
9044  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Centralized Investment sites - Good or Bad? on: July 15, 2018, 08:25:41 AM
I noticed lately that a lot of sites are popping up that offers investors the option to deposit fiat and then they buy and sell the Alt coins on behalf of the investor. So they manage the wallets and security and the portfolio for the investor and the investor just decides when they want to withdraw their capital.

There are some obvious dangers involved with this, but I would like to know what your opinion is.

~ Hard forks
~ Signing Addresses
~ Security concerns <Exploits in code>
~ Centralized decision making
~ Fiat not backed by actual coins
~ Extra Fees

So, let's see what you think about this?
9045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If there was a Bitcoin Transaction Confirmation time within 1 minute on: July 15, 2018, 08:15:14 AM
There is no problem to accept Bitcoin tx's with zero confirmations for very small purchases. <like someone paying for a cup of coffee>, but the ideal scenario would be to get a confirmation almost immediately after you made the purchase. Fortunately for us, the Core developers have recognized that need and they developed the Lightning Network, as described above by other posters.

Most of the smaller micro transactions will move to the second layer <LN> and the on-chain transactions via SegWit will be much faster.  Cool
9046  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: July 15, 2018, 08:06:05 AM
At least 4 first place winners have come forward and posted about in this and other threads.

Thats it?  Out of how many weeks?  52wks/year for 5yrs and only 4 have posted here?  WTF.  Those kinda odds could rival the odds of winning the lottery to begin with haha.

I know you have learning difficulties and find it hard to read so I'll try and help the village idiot out here.

The rounds are numbered, here is a picture showing the current round.

There is one round a week. Can you work out how many weeks yet?

Well, give or take 3 years. It is still a lot of weeks and you have to multiply that with like 10x for the amount of participants for every Lottery. <Yes, the first 3 or so draws had only 3 spots>  Shocked

I have argumented these numbers for years, but the standard answer is always " Not every user of Freebitco.in is registered on this forum " , so we are not going to get more than that.  Grin

I know I will be the first one that runs to this forum, if I ever win anything here and I will make a public apology for doubting the fairness of the Lottery all these years. <I have been playing this from the first draw and never won anything>  Roll Eyes
9047  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [13-07-2018] Scammers to Leak Users Masturbation Vids Demands Bitcoin Ransom on: July 15, 2018, 07:47:26 AM
You obviously have not watched the live social video streaming sites like, Periscope where people have 1on1 private wanking sessions in front of each other or where they broadcast that to people all over the world.
I'm glad that I can wholeheartedly assure you that I have not seen any wanking sessions.  Cheesy

You get pretty messed up people out there or they are just horny enough to do that in public.
If you are horny you just stick to person to person wanking sessions, not let the whole world see how perverse you are. I seriously believe that there fundamentally is something wrong with these people.

They are messed up. It has been proven that people desperately looking for this sort of large scale attention have problems in their personal lives which has been brewing long enough to make them do all this.

I think you are too quick to judge. Some of these people do not want to risk going out and having sex with prostitutes and they do not have a partner. So they are human too and they want some excitement, so they turn to the internet video streaming sites. The unfortunate side of this is that many of these sessions are recorded without the consent of the parties involved and placed on the internet or used for bribes in this case.

Loneliness and hornyness can get you into trouble.  Roll Eyes
9048  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cryptocurrency a revolutionize innovation? on: July 15, 2018, 07:40:33 AM
I think a lot of people thought that Bitcoin would replace the Fiat system and be a revolutionary technology, but it has not turned out that way...yet. The Masters of the world have managed to mitigate that risk, by creating their own versions of this technology and by using that technology against itself. <Private Blockchains>

Most of these are still in development, but it is going to be used as a counter for disruption.  Angry
9049  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [13-07-2018] Scammers to Leak Users Masturbation Vids Demands Bitcoin Ransom on: July 14, 2018, 08:44:42 AM
We saw a similar situation in the Black Mirror TV Series. Internet is really a very dangerous place, so we need to be very cautious in terms of security. Even slightest mistake can cause serious damage.
People are too dumb to realize that everything they do on the internet can lead to their own downfall.

What these specific cases are good for is that they give people a firm wake-up call to stop being a retard and for once respect your privacy and don't do desperate shit that people (whoever they are) can use against you.

What retarded fool wanks and record that on video? I don't feel sorry for any of the people that were a victim of this. Let it be an expensive lesson that will make you think twice before you ever do such a thing again.

You obviously have not watched the live social video streaming sites like, Periscope where people have 1on1 private wanking sessions in front of each other or where they broadcast that to people all over the world. You get pretty messed up people out there or they are just horny enough to do that in public.

It is one thing, giving your consent to do this, but blackmailing someone with stolen videos is a criminal offence.  Angry

Would still be great if we could place a human or humans behind the face of this project.

Can you do that with any Bitcoin gambling site?

I would have dumped a lot more coins into Freebitco.in if I knew what I was dealing with and if I could have explained that income to my local tax authorities.  Cheesy

I don't see why that should be a problem, just declare the interest if you need to under your local legislation.

Yea, you can with the Brick n Mortar sites, but these unregulated online gambling sites are all the same. You just close your eyes and hope for the best.  Roll Eyes < So pointing fingers to Freebitco.in would be unfair, because most of them are doing it this way >  Grin

When I declare my income with the tax authorities or when they do a audit, they want some kind of paper trail and with sites like this, it is not possible. Some of the investment sites I deal with, have "reports" that I use in PDF format for tax purposes.  Wink
9051  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: July 14, 2018, 07:46:08 AM
Personal income generated in another country, does not exempt you from paying taxes in your country of origin. They might use the Virgin Islands as a tax haven, but they can still be held liable for the tax income and the penalties, if they are caught. As TheQuin said, most unregistered gambling sites do this, but at one stage they grow too big and then people start knocking at your door.

Freebitco is currently operating as a Bank / Gambling site / Unregistered Business and I bet you, they not paying any taxes. They might want to legitimize this operation now, by re-branding the site.  Huh

You're making a lot of assumptions about people's private financial arrangements. You're also misinformed about the need for registration and what constitutes legitimate.

You right. I probably are sucking this out of my ass.  Undecided

Would still be great if we could place a human or humans behind the face of this project. It would just make the decision easier to dump a lot of money into the "investment" side of the site, if you knew that you not dealing with a site that might turn out to be a criminal front or some money laundering racket.

I would have dumped a lot more coins into Freebitco.in if I knew what I was dealing with and if I could have explained that income to my local tax authorities.  Cheesy
9052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you know that 25% of all Bitcoins are lost? on: July 14, 2018, 07:34:06 AM
According to Jameson Lopp, a former BitGo and current CasaHODL engineer over 4 million Bitcoins (over 25% of current circulation) are lost.

Source: https://coincodex.com/article/2018/jameson-lopp-estimates-4-million-bitcoin-are-lost-forever/
I have read from several sources for a long time that more than six million bitcoins are considered lost. Here the figures are clearly understated and obsolete. In principle, how can you accurately calculate the number of already lost bitcoins. It is clear that this figure will always be approximate.
You do realize that the research is based on the addresses being used. According to them my 2014 wallets are probably lost, because I haven't made a single transaction since I bought the coins. I'm sure a lot of coins is lost, but estimating that it's 4 million or 6 million based purely on activity is stupid.
Don't underestimate the hodlers Wink

If they used that as a guideline, then we must assume that Satoshi's 1 000 000+ coins are lost too.  Roll Eyes  Some of the early adopters have loads of coins that was mined in the early days and those coins are stored in cold storage.  Wink

A lot of people lose coins on a daily basis, but they are too scared and embarrassed to announce it on a public forum. <Sending coins to wrong Bitcoin addresses or forgetting their passwords or passphrases for their wallets>  Tongue

I think the percentage is higher. <30%+> Shocked
9053  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: July 14, 2018, 07:27:05 AM
It's not being abandoned, just when we rebrand it will no longer be in the name. That's about getting away from the perception that we are just a faucet.
By the way, any news about rebranding. I remember it was planned in July or something similar, but now I suspect that it will not happen this summer?
And I got email message about reward points bonus and I noticed this thing at the bottom of message
FreeBitco.in, 3rd Floor, J and C Building, PO Box 933, Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands
So, this means that Freebitco.in now registered as official company?

Probably not. There are probably minimal laws and minimal enforcement there (however, they are sending out their location so maybe).

The British Virgin Islands are one of the places Britons use for legal tax evasion (probably what this site is doing also).

It's nothing new. If you do a whois lookup of the domain it tells you it is registered in Tortola, VG. I can't remember where I found it now but I found that address when I searched for it years ago.

The British Virgin Islands are a very popular place to base an internet company. The government there is very welcoming with a friendly attitude to regulation and taxes.

9054  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are Ico Projects Solving Problems Of Humanity? on: July 14, 2018, 07:15:25 AM
The long time vision of almost all ICO projects' main aim is to provide solutions to some of the problems  facing humanity in the area of health, education  etc. Despite this main motive of most projects, most  tokens end up at the exchanges for only trading without being used for their intended purposes.

Wrong, their main aim is to make a profit.  Roll Eyes  This is also one of the reason why more than 90% of them fail. They start out as a project with very ambitious goals to change the world, but that is quickly forgotten, when the money starts rolling in. Many of them are blatantly scamming people and the whole, changing the world thing is just a bunch of smoke and mirrors.  Roll Eyes

Let's just face it... only a very small percentage of them will change the world.  Roll Eyes
9055  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to make bitcoin a popular payment method? on: July 14, 2018, 07:06:25 AM
You left out one:

Government Approval - Now, some people might differ from me on this statement, but the reality is, no unregulated "currency" will survive for long, without some kind of regulation by government. Yes, people might use it as a barter system, if it is not regulated, but you need proper regulations for it to succeed in the formal sector of the financial sector.

These companies need to deal with tax issues and auditing and they cannot use a currency that are not regulated.  Roll Eyes
9056  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are zero transaction costs possible? on: July 14, 2018, 06:25:00 AM
The transaction is possible, but it is not profitable for the miner to continue mining IF everyone is doing this. The Block rewards and the Miners fees are the only incentive for these miners to continue mining and if we remove this, then all miners will stop their mining activities. You have to remember that with every Halving, the Block reward is smaller and at one stage in the future, the miners will only be mining for the Miners fees, so this has to continue for this experiment to succeed.  Roll Eyes

Dropping a few cents towards Miners fees, is an investment in the future of Bitcoin.  Wink
9057  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Contest with $30,000 in GUARANTEED PRIZES now live! on: July 13, 2018, 07:16:00 AM
Why does the percentage towards the next level bonus go down when you use the hourly free spin?  Also, what causes the bonus added to every win to drop?

Thanks to jackg & Thirdspace for correctly answering your questions.

I know you answered me sometimes here but are you among owners of freebitco? Or just support here?
Btw you may don't know but in old good days, even banks were promoting your website, this means you have trust in people.
You really pay low compared to old times but somehow no one considers the fact that bitcoin's price is high, more than 10x high. Low house edge would be better but I understand, being faucet and dice at the same time with 1% house edge is very unprofitable for website, however others can't understand it.
Wish you success, would love to see new and strong freebitco like it was some years ago.

I'm just support, wetsuit is the owner. Thanks for your kind words.

Oh please. Stop with that... You either want to give to charity or you do not want to give to charity.

At the time Save the Children removed the Bitcoin donation it was not possible for us to continue accepting donations we couldn't pass on.
So few of our customers used the facility that we see no point on reinstating it now they are accepting Bitcoin donations again. There is nothing to stop you or any other customer donating to them directly if you feel that strongly about it.

So it never crossed their minds to consider another charity that did accept bitcoins or to ask people if they had suggestions for another charity? This site have the potential to do a lot of good and to stand out from the rest of the sites that are offering a similar service.

Unfortunately you cannot face the fire for decisions that are made by "management", so I will not direct my frustration with this decision, towards you.

I think it is a bad decision to abandon the "FREE" concept, linked to this site. The foundation of this site was built on that concept and one of the reasons why it succeed this long.  Sad

Edit : Donating via this site was a One-Stop solution. It just made it easier for people who did not know about this.
9058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Kardashian Theory on: July 13, 2018, 06:58:37 AM
The end result is the same, because you are turning fiat cash into Crypto currencies. The problem is in the way that this is done and what the long-term impact of this is going to be. The original Bitcoin <<BTC>> have been building a technology that would sustain large scale adoption, with the introduction of the second layer solutions. <Lightning Network>

Bitcoin Cash is not sustainable, because increasing "Block" sizes have limitations. So Roger Ver is not supporting a technology that will last for long. In my opinion, they do not care about this, because they have short term plans for it. <Get Free fork coins --> Hype the technology --> Sell Free coins at the highest price --> move to next fork or Alt coin>  Roll Eyes
9059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Crypto facing hack Every time it recovers??? Govts involved?? on: July 13, 2018, 06:43:25 AM
Why crypto space happen to hack hack while its on a bullrun???
We've seen some of the massive hacks in this very short time period.Today also   But it doesn't happen in bearish market. Every time crypto has a bullrun.  Yesterday BTC Kept on Trying to Break above 6800 Resistance.. And today morning another hack on Bancor wallet.. Sespecious... Which is really effecting the current market..
But the Question is. Is the govt trying to manipulate and wanna  kill crypto??? That's why they are doing this???
It is not the cryptocurrency that is being hacked it is those exchange or wallet providers that are being hacked. I also think that there are fake reports on exchanges being hack but this is not always happening whenever the market is in a run for recovery. We dont know if governments are manipulating the price since we dont have a proof and we dont even know if there are governments that are investing or trading cryptocurrency so no one can answer that.
So you're saying that most of the hacking news are fake??? Someone is trying to manipulate the price by fudding right.. But who is that someone..  On recent govt regulations and bans are making me sespecious that the govt can do anything to stop crypto.. so they can also hire hackers right?

such news only affects the price temporarily and on a small scale. why would government want to affect the price in this way? what would they gain?

these services are shitty on their own. nobody has to do anything, and there is money involved so there is a good incentive for hackers to try them out. and most of these cases are actually false. the exchange scams their users and calls that a hack.

Governments have a lot to gain, when the price are on a constant decline. It will slow down adoption and it will also get under the skin of the current hoarders. Most people are only interested in this technology, because they want to make a lot of profit. <speculators>

I will also not be surprised if large Banks and government sanctioned hackers are involved in these orchestrated hacks on exchanges. Some of these governments can even channel the proceeds of these hacks into military funding or to be used to manipulate the price. <pushing it down with organized dumps>  Roll Eyes
9060  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/11]Isn’t Chinese Government Optimistic About Crypto? on: July 13, 2018, 06:17:37 AM
Some people put some statistics out there that transactions out of China has declined to only 1% in recent days. Most of their Bitcoin exchanges have been closed down. So they are trying their best to stop "Capital Flight" in their country.  Grin

On the other hand, Tesla are busy with a massive Tesla manufacturing facility in China as a counter to the influence of the trade wars against the USA.

It is all about control for them and they know they cannot control Bitcoin, so they target the centralized onramp services that are under their control.  Angry
