9081  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Brand new mining venture - electrcity costs at sub 4.5 cents but profit share on: September 05, 2021, 02:29:15 PM
Dear all
I have spent close to 3 years on the basics of this venture, I can now categorically claim 4.5 cent per KW.
Am interested in containerised mining operation
My electricity supplier also has a suitable location in an industrial estate.
Electrical supply up 2MW.

Am looking for technical and financial partners
Realistic prices and suppliers for ASIC's, cooling, cabling and containers.
There is absolutely no legislatory and authority risk......in fact there is support for establishing a 'data centre'

any advice is welcome
free or paid (small lighting fee)
interested parties, words of encouragement, ideas, suggestions, horror stories, cautionary advice,  potential partners....please post replies here in the first instance.

thanks for your interest.

A suggestion is:

1) tell us the country it is in.
9082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asking about 3060 card laptop mining (need help). on: September 05, 2021, 12:30:34 PM
I mined with an omen laptop and with a dell laptop.

about 40 days I decided it was a bad idea and stopped.

They survived the 40 days of mining.
9083  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Wattmeter Antminer T17 and T19 on: September 05, 2021, 03:08:44 AM
Understood on the hardware.
But if I want the power consumption numbers like 3rd party firmware, is there a way to get that on the bitmain default firmware?
thanks

no you need a hard meter.

a s17 has two plugs you can use two hard meters which will each show 1300 watts or so.

a s19 pro has two plugs you can use two hard meters which will each show 1650 watts or so.

if you program an s17 with brains you can set a specific wattage like 2000 and the software will attempt to send exactly 2000 watts to the unit.

bitmain firmware does not do this.

Another failure to sustainably penetrate $50k while alts are getting most of the attention. This is the predictable outcome of a failed cryptocurrency. Expect to see mostly lower prices for the rest of the year (and ever).
When I saw his post, I immediately knew that we would cross $50k to near-$51k levels today. Maybe even beyond that.

We didn't even kiss 51k, but got in the upper half of 50k.

Hm eddie?   I am wondering which charts you be looking at?

Around 28 hours ago (would that be 14:30 UTC yesterday), BTC prices got up to $51,050 on bitstamp.

You might need either a batman slap or some glasses.  #nohomo
I must remember this: a kiss is still a kiss, even if it's only the wicks.

Average of 200% per year seems a little pie in the sky though. That would bring her to 50M$ in 10 years. Somehow, it seems a bit too much. Not that I would complain.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of.  None of the 3070ti's or 3080ti's are marked as LHR or KL or V2,
so even the KRs and V1s are LHR. That's deceptive.

I have been spot buying hp pcs for the fe cards.

I got some good pavillion pc with 3060ti selling just the pc on ebay.

Most of the GPUs these days... if you find any in stock you can safely assume its LHR.

Anyone know of a list of LHR and non-LHR GPUs? There seems to be no consistency in labelling even
within a brand. There is also a lot of contradictory information about how to identify LHR.

9087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it reasonable to start a new GPU mining farm right when eth 2.0 is so close? on: September 04, 2021, 03:20:43 PM
What ETH 2.0? The earlier the better mate many people refuse to join the train years back simply because people keep talking about upcoming Ethereum PoS and oh ETH mining is coming to an end, none of that happen till this day

I still think they will switch to progpow vs doing pos.

They can

1) stick with this current algo means they are voting for asics and companies like bitmain, innosilicon, linzhi

2) switch to progpow alog it means they are voting for amd ,nvidia ,intel.

3) switch to piece of shit = POS which screws bitmain, innosilicon, linzhi, amd, nvidia , intel.

I am guessing he switches from 1 to 2 not from 1 to 3.
9088  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: September 04, 2021, 02:07:11 PM
So... I finally got my win in a shuffle after trying 30+ times and it seems like this new RTX 3080 Xtreme is a LHR edition. NOTE there was no advisement from newegg about it being LHR. Nothing in the shuffle or on the box or sticker says anything about LHR. Its starts mining around 87mhs and drops to 47 very quickly. I'm super bummed. Do you guys know of any mining software that gets around the issue? Feel free to PM if its private.

Use nbminer-nebutech v39.2 (think this is the latest one), you should get around 65-70 Mhs depending on the card.

I get 77-80 mh steady with nbminer-nebutech v39.2 set to lhr 70

cards vary i have  3080ti asus strix pulls 275 watts
9089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I detected something new on: September 04, 2021, 01:57:11 PM
So it's true that temp isn't GPU mining friendly now I believe this is true, I have RTX3060ti that mine away at 61MH with 125watt and when browsing online I saw few people using same card with just 115watt, I really care about saving energy as possible so I decided to play with the GPU, mind you temp was 60°C but after reducing power down to 120 I lost 1.5MH, I was confused but the 5watt safe is not really much and I added a small table fan this make the temp dropped to 56°C and hashrate up to 61.5MH, it seems the more cooler a card works the better? By the way it's a gigabyte 3060ti non LHR, should I just buy a permanent fan for my rig instead? Or not worth it

well how much power does the fan use?

1.5 mh is about 12 cents a day.

lets say a kwatt costs 12 cents

so a 41 watt fan is 1 kwatt a day. Or break even.

But  .5 amp 12 volt fan is 6 watts or 144 watts or about 2 cents a win.

spending 2 cents to make 12 cents makes sense.

the fan below is 3.5 watts

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09794QQN3/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3TAMQRY7N9MXN&psc=1

now if you buy it and it costs a penny a day to make 12 cents you clear 11 cents.

in 150 days you paid off both fans. it is a two fan pack.

note the fan company is not known to me. I picked it because the seller answered that it uses 3.5 watts.

Hey Guys,
Quick question, is there a way on the default Bitmain firmware to get the power consumption? Maybe via the API or something?
Thanks

no you need a hard meter of some kind.
9092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvida CMP 170HX 164MH/s on: September 04, 2021, 03:33:20 AM
This year there were many different ASICs with hash rates above 2 Gigahesh, for example Linzhi Phoenix Miner, but the profit is still good.
Ordinary miners will not get these video cards, I think large companies will buy these video cards.
Vitalik promised us a POS algorithm, but it seems to me that it will be postponed again.

Mr V.  has a choice.

bitmain + innosilicon + linzhi

or

amd + nvidia + intel

or

piece of shit.

I think 🤔 he may pick amd + nvidia + intel.

but it is simply a guess.

What you mean bad ones, bad at mining or bad at warranty (EVGA all the way )

Well the evga do good warrantees but the xc3 was not as good as the ftw3

at least on raven 50 vs 57 or $6.50 vs $7.41

50k is in so I sold a small piece.

Next stop 60k although I hope some to sell at 55k in under 10 days. Maybe 60k in under 12 days.

Then the elusive 70k which I guaranteed for May 2021.

I  would like to get to 70k some time soon.  As I do not want that guarantee to continue to haunt me.

Frankly it (BTC) is a bit boring at the moment. This is cool as I have a ton of other issues in the real world to work on.

I ran ergo over night

core  -200
ram   1400
watts  324
mh.    254.   this is around 5-6 in earnings

I am going to run eth now.

core   -200
ram   1400
watts   285.  whole rig says 325 I will also check kwatt meter

lhr 70
temp 52 c

I will play with core and ram

So this does 75-80 mh

325 x 24 = 7.8 kwatts summer power rate adjusted for ac is 20 cents or 1.56 or 1.60 rounded up

75-80 mh is 77 x 0.0878 = $6.76 or about $5.16- $5.20 net  my partner paid bigly for this card  the combo was more than 2.5k for the card and a good monitor.  that is a 500 day roi.

I have seen 3080tis as low as 1400  much better roi.  the strix is premium but I would not buy another.

Watching this with curiosity. Since my 670gtx burned i've been considering one big card that would pay for itself (no need profit other than the card)
Highly considering 3080ti, its a new model (not mined to the ground), as i keep seeing them for 1200 euros. Would they pay for themselves or close if i mine on my spare time?
I use it like 2 or 3 hours per day. Could mine for 21H per day i guess.

Well assuming you get a good one at 1200 euros

20/24 = 83%. so if eth is doing 5 usd after power you do 4.15 usd or 3.49 euro a day after power.

so 1200/3.49 = 344 days.

Since you get other use
since they have 3 year warranties.
1 card could be okay for you.
9098  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 3080ti thread for smos. on: September 03, 2021, 02:36:09 PM
Looking at all these numbers for RVN in this thread, unless one doesn't care about power efficiency, makes me think you can get more out of a 3080ti.  I'm getting ~0.19mh/watt RVN from a lowly 3060 (non ti) LHR=21.8mh/115watt software.  For me many combinations netted .15-.17mh/watt, few gave current efficiency.

Actually raven may be best bet for it at the moment.

I do wonder if better eth tweaks can be done.

I get a constant flux of 76-80 mh see screen shots.

285  watts for gpu
325  watts for rig
330  k-watt meter

9100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Seriously. How much market cap can Bitcoin absorb from other assets? on: September 03, 2021, 03:52:44 AM
Quote from: Poker Player link=topic=5357144.msg57810965#msg57810965
I think the vast majority of us on this forum would agree that Bitcoin is better than gold as a store of value and that it would make sense to absorb its market cap. If we have Bitcoin with a market cap of about $1T and gold with a market cap of about $11T, we see it quite likely that Bitcoin in the not too distant future will have a $10T market cap and gold $2T.

And why do you think the so-called gold market cap will crash 5 times?

First thing is that half of that so-called market cap is not in gold that stays in some vault in a bank and is in jewelry, are we going to seriously see a drop in demand for jewelry just because bitcoin is a better store of value? The cheapest engagement ring still is above 2 grams, multiply that by the population of the earth and you end up at least 3 times the gold reserves of the united states, even if we assume half of the world population is way too poor to afford one there are plenty who would compensate for an entire region of the city.

But leaving that aside, in order for gold to lose 5 times that value it would need people to massively sell it and this is just like bitcoin, if you have people who believe in the value of something it doesn't make sense for them to sell so cheaply and 5 times below the price they've bought in. And now the most important part, how are you going to convince ordinary people who don't care that much about technology that something they know has value, something they knew for a long time and something it's advertised all over the world as being of value that is less valuable than a bunch of numbers in an app? Not to mention that you can't have bitcoin plated rims, no matter how much you try.

Total global wealth is around USD 420 trillion  (https://www.credit-suisse.com/about-us-news/en/articles/media-releases/global-wealth-report-2021-202106.html)
Do you really believe that a quarter of all the wealth created in the world is going to be absorbed by Bitcoin?

Hihi, imagine this
People dump 50% of the shares in companies, land, houses, everything that makes wealth, and buy bitcoin with that money. What is the result? You will have half of the value in wealth and twice the value in currency. Guess where that leads to! Grin Not a pretty place!

Coin is very easily fully crash-able. it simply is in abundance according to this:

https://www.techtimes.com/articles/263854/20210806/nasa-plans-study-mine-goldmine-asteroid-worth-quadrillions-2026.htm

which is a follow up of this

So rare and precious metals may not be so much in 10-15 years.

A lot depends on easy space travel. Maybe a magnetic elevator system to the moon.

And really cheap metal happens before boomers die off. Figure boomers are all dead myself included by 2071.

I am thinking That those astroids will be harvested in 2030-2035. I would be 73-78 years old. So I simply do not see long term value in any precious metals at all. Even in my life time.

Remember the moon’s gravity is 1/6 that of earth. so landing pieces of asteroid there is feasible .

whether a magnetic levitational setup from earth to moon is doable how on earth do I know.  But betting all my money on metals staying high in value is dumb as fuck.

I still have coins silver platinum just not as much as I did.

BTW

history backs me up on this.

Aluminum dropped price when tech made it easy to get.

stainless steel dropped in price. can't find a good chart for it.

but aluminum dropped a lot. 17 a pound in 1851 to under 50 cents now. add in inflation and it got crushed.

https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2014/11/aluminum-was-once-one-of-the-most-expensive-metals-in-the-world/382447/

usa gold price in 1851 was 20 bucks an oz it would be 75 cents an oz  if it drops like aluminum dropped.

And it was all due to tech advances .
