The only reason i see wizary opting for a phone number based verification is maybe they want to limit every person to make a single account. Usually, people have many email addresses but only one phone number, so it's easier to limit people to 1 account by verification through the phone number. Another reason could be to do the KYC to know the region of the gambler and won't let him play if he belongs to the restricted countries by the wizary, if any. They initially required phone number verification upon registration since they offered a welcome bonus to new members. The welcome bonus has been canceled later because it was abused to a large extent after all. Several members have proposed eliminating phone number verification as well, which they have now done. I think they are listening to us, on checking the signup link nothing is showing up they may be fixing it that is why they disable it but I need to verify it to other members if they are also showing the same or just my location is restricting from accessing the sign-up form, hopefully, they are just fixing and taking away the phone verification when registering. KYC is required by parties when there is a suspicious transaction, and we are given the right to ask the casino to delete personal data if we no longer want to play there.
The hope is, of course, that in the future the casino can remove the cellphone number when registering or it can be an optional option.
