Yes this is going in almost all Gulf countries cricket team and AFAIK same is with Canada cricket team, they also pick players from Pakistan, India, Bangla and SL (not sure they are permanent residents or just on work visa).
ICC is just happy with this since now he has some more teams in his list and getting some more funds. I don't see any role of ICC in regulating cricketing affairs worldwide.

Canada do have some citizens playing for them, in addition to the expats. John Davison (the hero of the Canada team in the 2003 world cup) was born in Canada and had Canadian citizenship at the time when he participated in the 2003 and 2007 world cups. But the irony is that John Davison becomes ineligible to play for Canada as per the revised criteria by the ICC. The new requirement states that a player needs to reside in the country for 6 months. Davison (although a Canadian citizen) resides in Australia and therefore he becomes ineligible to represent his country. On the other hand, non-citizens who are on work visa are now eligible to represent Canada. These rules just doesn't make any sense. They allow foreigners to represent a country, and at the same time prohibit natives from doing so.
9102  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will replace oil and Gold on: October 01, 2021, 03:10:51 AM
How on earth will Bitcoin replace oil op, do you really know you are talking about or you are just talking out over anxiety which no one can depend on to the bank if I should put it that way. Are you aware that oil is not own by every country of the world, i.e not every country is oil producing country and you should note that every country of the world can start mining Bitcoin if and only if every government want to do just that you know. And if you say yes to that then do you the economic effects of that on Bitcoin. So don't just compare oil and Bitcoin as they serve different purpose.
Maybe you're looking at a different angle the OP is referring to.
I think it's a matter of its importance in life, but substitute is a word that can be misunderstood by many.
The problem here as you talk about their different uses is about the nature of the common. But I think if you look at the fact that it's all things that serve a human purpose, so I just look at it as tools to solve life's problems and one day we might see the importance between them is the same.

Nothing wrong in what XCANA said. If the OP meant differently, then he should have clarified it in his post. The topic was not how Bitcoin will replace oil in terms of importance or in commodity trading. When you say just replacement, it naturally means substitution. And even in this sense, I am not sure how Bitcoin is going to replace oil, because the position of oil in commodity trading is secure, at least for the next few decades. And also let's not forget the fact that the oil prices have gone up by almost 100% in the recent times. It proves that oil is still very relevant.
9103  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: October 01, 2021, 03:00:05 AM
The government can't be trusted in case they have a history of lying.

Government is the first instance that makes things worse in their own country. Their decisions are not only illogical, but absurd.

Specifically on the topic. Our country right now has a growing number of cases. Thanks God the number of deaths remains on the same level. (if it is appropriate to say like that). Number of cases is identical to previous year, when the decision to start a lockdown and impose a curfew was accepted. Government is not making any actions. I can make a conclusion, that previous year lockdown and curfew were useless, or vaccine isnt helping or working. Btw, government proudly announced, that more than 50% of population are vaccinated.

It will be wrong to say that lockdowns and other safety protocols are useless. Such measures in 2020 saved a lot of lives, slowed down the pandemic and gave more time for the medical professionals to respond to the pandemic. But now, since most of the population is vaccinated (at least those who want to get vaccinated are able to do so), the governments don't need to coerce the population with lockdowns. Everyone is aware of the risks outside and based on their requirement and analysis, they can make their own decisions.
9104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: October 01, 2021, 02:50:26 AM
I still think that this time it will be easy for KKR to reserve their berth in the quarterfinals. The team has been performing exceptionally well and it will be easy for them to win in the next match with Punjab Kings. It was an easy win for CSK yesterday and I do not think it would be easier for DC to defeat them tomorrow.

Three matches remain and you don't know how they will turn out. KKR and MI both have 10 points, and if they win all of them, then it will get them to 16. RCB is having 14 points right now. If they lose two out of their three remaining matches, then they will also end up at 16. Then the teams qualifying for the playoffs are going to be decided based on NRR. And it is here that the KKR is having an advantage. They have a positive NRR (+0.363), while both the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore have negative NRR.
9105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: October 01, 2021, 02:40:06 AM
ICC is the governing body but I do not think they have jurisdiction in such a matter. There have been lots of instances in the past when big boards have cancelled tours and nothing happened to them. Pakistani board has suffered a substantial amount of revenue but more importantly, its reputation has now been tarnished because of these cancellations.

The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan and the involvement of Pakistani forces in that changed the ground situation. Rather than any real change in the security status, this may be the factor that might have resulted in the tour cancellation. The ICC can't do much. They can't even impose a financial penalty, if the teams come up with some proof to show that Pakistan is not safe for them. Look at India. The last time they toured Pakistan was two decades ago. Still, the ICC has supported the stance by BCCI.
9106  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and wealth as the major religions in world. on: September 30, 2021, 04:23:20 AM
Ever since the dawn of the civilization, the most powerful man are the ones who have the most money and that idea has been carried out through history whether we ant to admit it or not, sure a lot of people would lie and say that money can't buy happiness but when facing your problems do you rather face them as a poor man or as a rich man, money in it all forms whether its crypto or fiat if you hold it, you hold the key and the answer to every issue.

I disagree. Money-based economy became important only very recently. In the pre-historic times, it was power that was valued much more than money. Because there were limited options where money could be used. Nowadays the families have become more nuclear and communal structure has disappeared. Now everyone is on his own, and under these circumstances it is money which reigns supreme. In a few locations, they still follow the collective community structure, such as the Kibbutz groupings of Israel.
9107  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 30, 2021, 04:05:30 AM
This pandemic has devastated the economy in my country, many companies have cut staff and very few job positions, costing me a whole year to be unemployed. I really didn't expect much from the vaccine they reported, less than a year they claimed their vaccine was effective but in fact the number of victims continues to increase. but I think this vaccine will improve and give society time to take care of our health. It is essential in most countries, otherwise it would be extremely difficult. about I've personally never been infected with this virus, looks like I'm a lucky man.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your job. Even among my friend circle, there are a couple of guys who lost their jobs due to the economic downturn. The vaccine has resulted in a decrease in the number of deaths from the virus, but the number of total infections remain more or less the same. I don't know which vaccine is used in your country, but it looks as if the efficacy of most vaccines decrease over time. Here in India, we are mostly using AstraZeneca, but a lot of people got infected even after that.
9108  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 30, 2021, 03:55:47 AM
OK.. we're almost in to October and I don't see any real change in the odds for Caleb Plant. For Caleb, the odds remain in +500 to +600 range (which are still overestimating his chances IMO). None of his verbal tirade against Canelo seems to have impressed the fans. If there was an uptick in bets favoring him, then the odds would have definitely changed. That hasn't happened. Neither the fans, or the sportsbooks think that he is having a realistic chance of defeating Canelo. And this may be the most one-sided fight featuring Canelo in the recent times.
9109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 30, 2021, 03:45:10 AM
@Sithara007 and the ICC is okay with this?, isn’t this a manipulation of the rules because their own citizens don’t participate so how’s this allowed I don’t understand. Also do these player’s give up their country, and become permanent residents of Oman? if not then I feel this is not a legit way to make a team, maybe you’ll have a different perspective and I’m keen to know it.

The ICC changed its rules sometime in 2005 or 2006. Previously only citizens were able to represent a country (as the case with all other sports, including football, volleyball, hockey.etc). And no. These players don't become permanent residents of Oman. They are usually given 3-year contracts, and if the contracts are not renewed, then they go back to their home countries. It is just like IPL franchises recruiting overseas players. A few of the players are sourced from expats already residing and working in Oman, but the vast majority (~80%) are recruited from overseas.
9110  Economy / Economics / Re: US with problems to raise the debt ceiling... again on: September 30, 2021, 03:36:18 AM
On top of that, the US Dollar is considered as the most stable fiat currency
Widely used, maybe. Stable? Not even close. Take a look at the ballooning deficit, debt, debt ceiling, Federal Reserve balance sheet, etc. The most stable fiat currency is probably the Swiss Franc (CHF).

OK.. I would agree. US Dollar is at least the most recognized fiat currency and the one with maximum acceptability. CHF is one of the strongest fiat currencies available (I would rate the Norwegian Krone as another strong fiat currency). But it is hardly used in international trade and rarely features among the forex reserves of various countries. The Swiss government also has made no attempt to widen the usage of CHF. It is surprising, because it is a much stronger currency when compared to USD, EUR, GBP or JPY.
9111  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: September 30, 2021, 03:25:05 AM
I feel like this was to be the case with pretty much any place where the crypto or bitcoin is widely used, we saw that china has progressively banned bitcoin and that is to launch their own version of crypto currency and new we are seeing a place like Nigeria where the CB is trying to make their own, and i really think that this is useless because the whole idea of using crypto is to stay away from the control from the banks and governments and using these or accepting them is against that idea.

Most of the countries that have placed restrictions against Bitcoin are those with manipulated economies. China is having a problem wit Bitcoin, because it poses a challenge to their heavily manipulated national currency (CNY). The case with Nigeria is not very different. But at the same time, countries with proper economies have tried to legalize and regulate the cryptocurrency market. Japan was perhaps the first country to do so, followed by many of the European Union countries and the United States.
9112  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 30, 2021, 03:15:29 AM
Yes most of the players played in the Oman national cricket team comes from Pakistan and India which already a good team. Oman already gained the highest point in the world cup selection match between Oman, USA, Papua new guinea and Scotland.

Not "most", but all (100%). The Oman cricket team in its history has never included an Omani citizen in its playing XI. They just give temporary contracts to domestic players from Pakistan and India and bring them to Oman with work visa to qualify for the 6-month residency requirement. But it has worked well for them, as they are on top of the points table. Other gulf nations also do the same. But in case of UAE and Kuwait, they used to have 1-2 Arab players in their playing XI earlier (Sultan Mohammed Zarawani and Fahad Al Hashemi are examples).
9113  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 30, 2021, 03:05:39 AM
With this win RCB now is ranked 3rd in the overall point standing. The top 4 teams at the moment are CSK, DC, RCB and KKR and I assume these teams will be playing the quarterfinals. Interesting to see KKR in the top 4. Defending champions MI might not even qualify for the quarterfinals this time. What do you guys think?

KKR's spot is not secure. If you check the points table, then you can see that both the Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians have the same number of points. Earlier the race for the final playoff spot was between KKR, MI and RR. But with the defeat yesterday, RR's chances have reduced to near zero. But the advantage for Kolkata Knight Riders here is that their next match is against a weak Punjab Kings, while the Mumbai Indians need to take on one of the strongest teams in the tournament (Delhi Capitals).
9114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador to mine bitcoin using Volcanic energy on: September 30, 2021, 02:55:08 AM
LOL... Nayib Bukele is trying to kill two birds with the same stone. One one hand, he is taking care of those who criticize Bitcoin mining, claiming that it consumes a lot of fossil fuels. And on the other hand, he has diverted attention away from the untrustworthy power supply from the national grid. I saw the original tweet, where there was a short video of a mining farm being set up. It works for publicity purpose, but in order to catch up with other countries in terms of hash power, El Salvador needs some time.
9115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: September 30, 2021, 02:45:26 AM
The 14.567 (thousands separator) TX per day create some confusion, and I’ve seen many comments elsewhere reasoning along this line. The figure, nevertheless, is under de "ATM" supra-caption, so I’d say that it relates exclusively to ATM TXs, and not the whole Chivo network (which would be incoherent with regards to what one would expect).

That would render an average of 73 TX per active ATM per day, which still may seem rather low for what we’d expect. We do have to take into consideration though that ATM positioning and usage will be diverse, and we also don’t really know if the number of daily TXs corresponds to a running 24 hours, or the current day (the latter would make the significance of the value time sensitive).

I'd love to see indicator definitions …

Well.. if the 14,500 figure represents only ATM transactions, then it makes sense for me. Personally I visit the ATM only once or twice per month. So the 2.25 million users making 10,000-20,000 ATM transactions in a day is not very surprising. But the number of total transactions in Chivo will be much higher. Because I heard reports that a lot of people are using the wallet to buy coffee and for shopping. The daily transactions may be more than a million (although need confirmation on this). Anyway, they have 199 Bitcoin ATMs now (minus one that was burnt down recently). So it translates to around 70 transactions per day, per ATM.
9116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: September 29, 2021, 04:05:07 AM
“Transacciones por segundo” doesn’t mean that we have 65,437 new transactions every sec, but that the system is processing an average of 65,437 transactions every sec.

Note: In the above statement, nobody knows whether the ',' is a decimal holder or a thousand separator. Visa does something like 1,700 TX/s (thousand separator) according to multiple sources. This therefore strengthens the idea that the ',' is decimal point holder in their Dashboard.

The original post was in Spanish and it mentioned 14.567 “Transacciones por dia” (i.e 14,567 transactions per day) and 65,437 “Transacciones por segundo” (i.e 65.4 transactions per second). For me, the number looks low. In the same tweet, it was mentioned "Usuarios Totales - 2,255,936". If the number of users are more than 2.25 million, then I would expect much more than 14,500 transactions per day. Anyway, I hope that the numbers will pick up in the coming days as people get more familiar with Chivo.
9117  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: September 29, 2021, 03:55:10 AM
Nigeria did not ban cryptocurrencies, CBN did. CBN also created e-naira, so likely the reason.

CBN is run by the government. So what is the difference? From what I understood, there was a banking ban imposed by the CBN. Bank accounts can't be used to buy or sell cryptocurrency (which was removed later). The possession of cryptocurrency, or trading it for physical cash or some other crypto was never made illegal in Nigeria. The situation is similar to what we had in India from 2018 to 2020. Back then the central bank, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had imposed a banking ban on cryptocurrency transactions. It was struck down by the supreme court in 2020.
9118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China trying its best to get hated on: September 29, 2021, 03:45:59 AM
china do not care if they are hated, because of what they did they will be the ones that will benefit the most, because of the banning of crypto in their country the price of crypto now will become lower and because of this the government will have the opportunity to whale bitcoin or other cryptocurrency. i think they did this too some time ago.

LOL.. these are just some wild conspiracy theories without any evidence. IMO, China banned cryptocurrency because it was posing as a threat for their heavily manipulated national currency. On top of that, they have a huge capital outflow problem. Cryptocurrency just made it easier for the mainland China residents to send their funds abroad. And finally, the power consumption from the mining farms was putting a huge strain on the national grid, especially in some of the provinces such as Xinjiang, Sichuan and Inner Mongolia
9119  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA Banning bitcoin: PBOC Says All Crypto-Related Transactions Are Illegal on: September 29, 2021, 03:35:08 AM
The impression this move from China gave to me is, Bitcoin has only become MORE valuable in China, and that the people under that tyrannical State has come to need Bitcoin MORE than they did BEFORE the ban.

Well... if you are a Chinese citizen, then do that at your own risk. There were reports from Canada that students from China, who used social media from their mobile phone to spread "Free Tibet" message were called up by the embassy and told to stop their activity. All their posts were anonymous, but somehow the CCP found out what they were doing. If they can do this to someone residing in Canada, don't you think that they will be able to do much more to those who are residing in China? If I were in your place, I would just stop my crypto activity at least until I could get out of China.
9120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] JOSHUA vs USYK on: September 29, 2021, 03:25:43 AM
Joshua has a big mountain to climb because of his weak showing against Usyk, of course, Joshua can opt for a rematch but he needs more than training to beat Usyk who is a very technical fighter, on his fight against Ruiz he underestimated him and was caught by those big punches, but against Usyk he was schooled on how to hit and not to get hit and you cannot be a technical fighter in a matter of months, Joshua relies on size and power all his career, but we'll, he has done it once he can do it again.

There is a "rematch clause" in the contract, which has been activated by Anthony Joshua's team. So Usyk needs to fight him again in the next 6-7 months. There is still some confusion regarding the venue of the fight. Usyk's team want the fight to take place in Kiev, Ukraine. But Joshua's promoter (Eddie Hearn) has rejected that suggestion. IMO, Kiev sounds good. Joshua had the home advantage in first fight, which took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Let Usyk have it next time. Why always the fight needs to be arranged as per Joshua's terms?
