9101  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bithumb Hacked on: March 31, 2019, 03:06:55 AM
Correct, this is not the first time that they have been hacked. I just look at the current price and seems there is a small correction today, EOS is already -3.5% as per coinmarketcap. I was thinking that this hacking news has something to do with it. Anyways, it's a inside job, maybe some disgruntled employees did the hack or maybe he/she collude with others. Bithumb reported just last week that they're going to lay off 50% of its workforce. So someone think of a way to get back at them. Not cool dude. You will be caught and put to jail for this.

9102  Economy / Exchanges / Bithumb Hacked on: March 30, 2019, 02:02:48 PM
Bithumb reported that they've been hacked,

https://www.coindesk.com/crypto-exchange-bithumb-hacked-for-13-million-in-suspected-insider-job

Quote
South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb has had around $13 million in the EOS cryptocurrency stolen in a hack it suspects was an insider job.

The company confirmed in statement on Saturday that it first spotted an “abnormal withdrawal” of the cryptocurrency through its monitoring system at 22:00 Korean time (13:00 UTC) on Friday, March 29.

The exchange suspended asset withdrawals and deposits on the platform after noticing the breach.

Ok here we go again, when we are about to take off, another bad incident came in. Although EOS is stolen and not Bitcoin. It says it's a inside job, so let's see how big the extend of this damage is to the whole crypto sphere.

What are your thoughts?
9103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Laser-etching a Cold Storage Coin on: March 30, 2019, 06:31:52 AM
Well, that's a first to me. How much do you think it would cost for making a cold storage like that? Do you think that someone actually did put his coins in a cold storage like that?
I would rather prefer still on using Ledger than on this coin cold wallet storage. You can only store up 1-2 PK front and back. The price might not really be too far from each other. So on practicality $60 Hardware wallet
would already be enough.

Seeing those laser etching or printing is very fancy in the eyes.

it has nothing to do with being fancy although it doesn't hurt.

using this method is all about having the ultimate cold storage which is stored "physically" instead of digitally (like hardware wallets) and is resistant to damage such as in case of a fire. for example if your house burns down your hardware wallet is going to melt, your paper is going to evaporate instantly, your computer is going to explode,... but your "metal wallet" which you etched is going to remain intact and you won't lose your bitcoins.

Exactly. And again although others have pointed out that this is not new, but this is something I haven't heard or see. Although I've searched the forum and found this one, Bitcoin Private Keys engraved in Diamond, yes Diamond  Grin. Hardware wallet is the best, but at least we have options today and can really protect our investments in those etched cold storage coin.
9104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Poll. Will the market go upside or downside in short term? on: March 30, 2019, 06:09:29 AM
Short term, crypto will be bullish, with a few upside here and there. Long term, we will go on a side trading sideways until we broke another direction and I hope that direction will be a bullish one. So I'm not expecting something big up until the last quarter of the year and leading up to the 2020, wherein there is a bitcoin block halving that will re-ignite the market to the next all-time-high.
9105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: March 30, 2019, 05:39:00 AM
Anyone seen the Warriors vs Wolves game? A lot of controversial calls in that game. Well, first off, Curry led the team from 9 point down in the last 1.5 minutes hitting threes. But prior to that with 5.8 seconds left, Durant hit a three and get fouled. I thought it was going to be a four point play and give the Warriors the lead by it's waved by the referee, to my surprised. Then Curry buries a three to tie the game with 0.5 seconds. The only possible way to score at this point for the Wolves is to lobe a pass to KAT, it was long. However, the referee called a crucial foul on Durant for pushing KAT, very controversial. KAT made 1 out of 2. Giving the Wolves 131-130 win. What are you thoughts? Is it a right call?

9106  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Here we are! lovers' of bullish trend. on: March 30, 2019, 05:20:44 AM
The bearish trend that commenced in December around 15, 2017 seem to be over and now we are awaiting another bull run that may create another pathways that we have never seeing before. My desired is that all the cryptocurrencies holders and enthusiast become millionaires, billionaires and the leaders of the world financial system.

I don't think so. We have seen this kind of rally in the past, actually just last month alone, we even recorded $4200 but it was short lived, so I don't think that seeing the price today above $4k means that we are in a bull run or the run has started. I understand your sentiments mate, I'm with you, but if you're too emotional and gets excited with every price jump, I don't know maybe you need to change your mindset a bit otherwise you might end up losing though, just saying.
9107  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit Abuse? on: March 30, 2019, 04:39:37 AM
Quote
So he either buy merits somewhere or those two accounts who just gave him merit is his alt so that he can qualify
I don’t think this can ever be proven with certainty because it is always possible someone wants to make the person look bad by giving merit to someone on a post that shouldn’t reasonably receive merit. Also, someone could be reviewing the persons posts, decide they deserve merit and give merit for the wrong post.

I think in this case though, others have connected their account, so obviously those that gave him merit doesn't want him to look bad, on the contrary help him boost his account and be accepted in a campaign wherein merit s a requirement.

But I would agree though in your point. Merit can be used as a weapon, I remember one thread from a bounty manager saying he was surprised someone gave him merits and he is somewhat confused or afraid that those giving him merits has bad intentions (ruining his reputation).

I am still pondering how to tell if someone is selling or buying merit and my reasoning is a work in progress. I think it is best to look at the merit (send) history of the person sending merit and if they have sent small amounts to many posts that don’t deserve merit then they might be selling merit. From there, you can look at the (receive) merit history of who received merit from these people on posts that don’t deserve merit and look at who else has sent them merit and see if they have also sent merit to many undeserving posts.

I posted analysis of a case of suspected merit abuse here that didn’t get much attention, however it can be used as an example as to how to use the above logic.

Thanks for the link, it was a good and through analysis. Actually I saw another one giving 5 merits to someone, the exact merit requirements to be able to qualify on that campaign. However, as you have said it's hard to prove plus the language barrier as well. The post that was given a merit is not in English so I can be wrong here.

And thanks for those who help find the connection, indeed they are alts but as @Coolcryptovator has said, we need more proofs like joining the same bounty, before he tag these accounts.
9108  Economy / Reputation / Re: Merit Abuse? on: March 29, 2019, 07:43:00 AM
Yep, that's probably what's happening here.  Hhampuz made a thread about this same thing recently, where people were somehow coming up with the required merits for his signature campaign right before applying.  The consensus (I think) was that he'd have to manually check posts like this to see if they were actually merit-worthy, and if he or another campaign manager looked at this one, he'd obviously realize the merit was traded.

Yes, I saw that thread, but this one is really obvious when I spotted it. And just like I said, Hhampuz won't accept those cheaters in his campaign.

Good catch.  There's no logical reason for anyone to be receiving merits for a signature campaign application.  That's ridiculous.  But as far as DT members tagging these fools, I doubt it's going to happen.  I wish it would, but it probably won't.

Unless we connected those account thru their address, twitter account. Maybe @coinlocket$ can help us out so that DT can tag them appropriately and at least managers will have second thoughts accepting them again.
9109  Economy / Reputation / Merit Abuse? on: March 29, 2019, 07:20:21 AM
Just going my usual route of posting and going around the forum but something caught my attention.

First time that I've seen someone receiving/giving a merit to a signature campaign application.  Grin

archived: http://archive.is/F5YVD

And as I looked closer to the account, and as you can see, he applied at Hhampuz campaigns which requires merit in the last 120 days. So he either buy merits somewhere or those two accounts who just gave him merit is his alt so that he can qualify in BestMixer Signature (But I'm sure he will not be accepted by Hhampuz, anyways).

9110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Team also needs to pass KYC on: March 29, 2019, 06:32:56 AM
Forgot about it, if people behind have no intentions of scamming investors then they will really show their faces, their accounts and online profiles. And I think that's the closest that we can know them. However, scammers won't do that, they will simply hide their real identify that's why we really need to be careful and do our due diligence before investing on projects
9111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2018-2019 betting on: March 29, 2019, 06:10:29 AM
I guess after a consecutive profitable month, I will have to end this month in a bad winning rate.
However, I am happy that some of our posters here are making profit this month, please continue giving picks for free so everyone will be happy.

I will update my record soon, and I believe it would be a tougher challenge ahead as playoffs is very near.

Good luck.

Nothing to be ashamed there @status, you already gave us a good head start so I will assumed that everyone is still on the positive based on your tips alone. Grin. And for those who are also giving free tips, hats off to you. Playoff is just around the corner so let's sharpen those analysis and share it to NBA fans here.
9112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Laser-etching a Cold Storage Coin on: March 29, 2019, 05:56:17 AM
Well, that's a first to me. How much do you think it would cost for making a cold storage like that? Do you think that someone actually did put his coins in a cold storage like that?

If you looked at their website, https://coldstoragecoins.com/, prices starts at 19.99 for a copper etch,

And if you go down below, the "BUY 5 AND SAVE +FREE GLOBAL SHIPPING $79" is out of stock. So I assume that there are a lot of crypto enthusiast who are into it.

i'd rather use a titanium plate and engrave my seed words for cheaper and without having to involve a stranger.
works so far and the plates were available on amazon, as well as the engraver.

Then go for it mate, for me it's a overkill but if you have the budget then their's nothing wrong with that.
9113  Other / Meta / Re: Community Opinion - Signature Campaigns on: March 28, 2019, 06:04:59 AM
As far as I can remember we have one before, [CLOSED] THE LEGENDS ROOM Signature Campaign. So I'm sure it is allowed in the community. So I'd say go for it and as long as you don't violate any terms here. Goodluck.
9114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Laser-etching a Cold Storage Coin on: March 28, 2019, 05:42:18 AM
Anyone seen this video?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SlhCQtG4tc

I was amazed and maybe this could be the next generation of cold storage. It was strange that the video was uploaded in 2017, maybe I was just late seeing it. Anyways, just wanted to share it to everyone in the community and maybe they can have an idea (maybe engraving our seed or private key).  Grin
9115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Season on: March 28, 2019, 05:18:51 AM

Whoever taught George Hill and Bledsoe on how to defend Harden is a wise man.

Prevent the three's. Keep defending the left side of him to prevent him from shooting outside. Force him to the right and let him do a floater for a 2 point which could also miss or pass the ball to Capella. (if he cannot pass it to Capella, 50% chance for a steal) happened a lot of times.

Trust the big man to do his job. (center)
Just do not give him space to make a three point shot.

2 things happened.
Bledsoe forgot to defend Harden on the left side. He stayed in front and so Harden made a three.
Hill stayed on the left side, Harden forced a three and it was an air ball.

Hail to the defensive brain of the Bucks.
Also for Hill for not forgetting the strategy in every play.

If you would go around Youtube, you will see Scottie Pippen, being asked how he will defend James Harden, he said exactly like what we have witnessed in that game, cut his left, force him to go right double-team him and force him to pass or shoot the ball, chances are he might miss a few or the pass can be stolen, simply as that. Scottie is a first-defensive-team, 8 times and 2 second-defensive-team 2 times. So he really know how to play defense here. Maybe the Bucks defensive team have seen that interview and put it into play when they face Houston yesterday and it was very effective indeed.
9116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 4-year cycle is it real? Probable end year rally for Bitcoin on: March 28, 2019, 04:49:39 AM
I wouldn't be surprised if the upcoming halving is already priced in, with the next ATH not occurring until the halving of 2024. Crypto never fails to catch one off guard though.

I think purely the speculation and people's assumptions that the block halving will lift the price will make them buy in, especially if the price is trending up for a month or two straight. People buy into that what goes up, and whatever the reason is the price is going up, people link it to the most obviously available event, which again comes down to the block halving.

People will always assume in this market, I believed, how many assumed that the price would even go below 5 digits again, when we touch ATH last year? This market is really based on speculation and if they see the price started to rise after the next halving, and guarantee that they will opt to buy in again, pushing the market price again.

Bitmain recently stated that it plans to deploy 200,000 miners, which is something they wouldn't consider if they believed the price would stay more or less around the $4000'ish level. It's obviously not a guarantee that the price will explode, but at least these entities put their money where their mouth is with the insane risks they expose themselves to.

Maybe Bitmain knows something that we don't know,  Grin. Probably risking it, what do they have to lose? They have total monopoly of it, and at least a little risk might be worth in the next year or so.
9117  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much time you spend to read forum post ? on: March 28, 2019, 04:28:10 AM
Which one you like most?

1. Do you like to make your own post ?

Sometimes I shared post which I think can help the community, specially PSA's. My last post was about a Youtube advertising fake or a malware version of Electrum. But to my surprised, it was deleted . Sad

2. Do you like to spend time on reading forum post?

Definitely. Everyone should really spend a lot of time here reading around the community because you can really learn a lot, specially those members who have so much experience technically and I admire those guys. Usually before I go comment on certain topic, I click "All" and read the previous post to learn more about the subject matter and just add a few of my own in the discussions.

I'm imagining the bad fell that happened to him and it makes feel more than an ouch. Please recover fast Nurkic!

Enough for Nurkic discussion.

Let's discuss the Bucks vs the Rockets game, it ended up a win for the home team, bucks beating the Rockets (108-94)
and although Harden had a double double tonight but he did not score 30+ points, and we know what will happen if their main scoring machine is limited with that score only. Harden is consistent scoring 30+ points every game but got limited tonight, the defense of the Bucks are making it possible.

Correct, if Harden doesn't score 30+ points, then Houston has a problem. And we should give credits where it is due, to the Bucks swarming defense. You can check the stats, Houston just shot 35% from the field and went 16-52 from 3's very strange for Rockets. But then again, the defense is superb and not only that they created a lot of problem and turn-overs for Houston as well. So good game for the Bucks and really showing who is the team to beat in the East.

9120  Economy / Speculation / Re: 'Bitcoin will run up to $5,000 by May' on: March 24, 2019, 02:51:29 PM
Ok, so by the look of how market behaves today, it is very possible to reach that target mark on May. In fact I have see a lot of speculations regarding this one, and I dont want to believe not until the price settles to $4k.

It's behaving as it used to be. Stabilizing at certain price, (before it was $6k-$6.5) and then will break it either direction (last time though it was beyond our control as there is a hash war between BCH and BCH SV). But I do hope that if we ever make a break at this price it would be on the positive side so most likely $5k is can be reached by May.
