Damn, I had 6-0. One silly goal and 350 points turned to 4. Seems like I'm betting on Belgium next leg  Angry

That would have been a very lucky payoff.  Not sure I can blame them for letting in 1 goal when ahead so much.    I'm only taking the simple bets not the precise scoring so much because of this possibility.
Is Brazil still most peoples guess for the overall winner ?
9142  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The consequences of gambling on: June 25, 2018, 03:05:02 PM

The economic consequences are often and most pronounced. Due to frequent losses of large amounts of money, constant loans

I have to point out the obvious thing here.    When gambling or maybe doing anything at all, do not constantly borrow money.   Dont go into debt to basically have fun, you have to do the hard work first.   Most successful gamblers are going to be those who in their luxury only gamble their previous profits and so have some leeway to win or lose.

Its starting off in a hole to be in debt and to gamble, thats the bad practise.    People who win then have to pay back the debt and not have much left over.  So they gamble too big and it goes badly from there
9143  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 25, 2018, 03:00:08 PM
It is one of the fundamental things that matters the most.  Bitcoin is not going to displace the worlds reserve currency, or even make a dent in it before it has taken out low hanging fruit like the Bolivar.

Venezuela is one of the places hyperbitcoinization happens first.

You'll see.

Well I checked the chart for how it'd look but of course I forget Venezuela has capital controls and the exchange is only officially sanctioned.    The data doesnt show for the real black market worth of a currency with 50% inflation every month, it shows for the propaganda government figure.

So the BTC VEF graph shows Bitcoin in decline compared to the outstanding government Bolivar supported rate.    If BTC had a government we would never show a loss, because we lock up anyone who disagreed.  Genius but people are starving in that country so I presume theres a flaw if you arent part of government top end.

Where did the demand go?

Not sure on demand but in Japan they have made the main exchange check KYC on anyone who uses crypto.   Thats a major restraint for ease of use and Japan is also a country with a declining currency for the small people maybe the most in need of a simple alternative.

I am not sure why you feel some kind of necessity to get into details about your LTC matter in this BTC thread?  Aren't you off topic and in the wrong place?

CHEAP HOT ALTS

GIT YER CHEAP HOT ALTS HERE

I'm buying alts or tokens which give a yield.    If its cheap and its going to be used, way cheaper then the 'ICO' was and the original utility is still there then it could be worth a buy.   Pure speculation on possible maybes is going to just orbit around bitcoin price itself.   Its possible for a few things to decouple and work off their actual use, there are cases out there.

6500 is a bullish test I think, in line with previous highs.   A strong rise from there could occur if sentiment turns, quite a few are negative still
9144  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price prediction for july on: June 25, 2018, 02:57:43 PM
For July to be optimistic we have a ceiling overhead to pass through first and then its possible it could rise alot.   Relief buying or something I think they call it, happens after a period of selling that buyers can be the main trend.

Here in the picture you can see where I was last bullish, when above the blue line however I did not forsee that solid line overhead.   Now we have both in a similar area and its a place to watch to be bullish or not I think.   The line is a daily, the blue line is more momentum accumulation/sentiment based.

9145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 24, 2018, 07:05:41 PM
So its a dramatic breakdown from the point we hoped would be bullish.    I guess it was a significant point to watch, trigger from to a few different packs of people trading round the world

The price now is just generally on weekly bars, the novemeber low and october highs so justified again as significant.  I think the situation again needs to develop to be sure what way it'll go but standard view would to see it as support and building from there.
9146  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2018? on: June 24, 2018, 08:28:03 AM
Bonkers we are discussing Iceland at all, such a tiny nation and performing at the top level.  They are possibly my favourite team to support of my own country, they are most deserving.
Despite failing to win their opening game against Switzerland, Brazil remain the favourites to lift the trophy according to dabblebet. Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Co. are rated 4/1 to emerge triumphant in Moscow on July 15.

Seems like a crazy polar extreme to fail at the first hurdle and then somehow beat all others.  I can only presume they had some kind of jetlag situation going on that caused them to underperform to start off with but they can correct themselves and improve vastly.   Still seems a bit of an omen
9147  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2018, 03:51:13 AM
so...essentially...you are saying 'it could go up' or 'it could go down' Smiley

I probably didnt even manage that much.   Just putting a stick in the sand trying to guess which way the tide is going, at least if I can observe it beating a negative point or ceiling then thats some strength.

Generally we're in a positive phase I think, so I'd say upwards til we negate certain measures like the blue line MA
On June 14th the price we're sitting above was a bit a ceiling, it declined from that point but we beat it with a good bigger bar on 18th June and now confirming it as some base to rise from.
I dont see we are in a strong trend currently, bit indecisive dealing with sellers and swapping back and forth I guess.   up or down then :p

smaller bars, what happened to Bart btw
9148  Economy / Speculation / Re: We expect a favorable market in June? on: June 22, 2018, 03:29:02 AM
As somebody else wrote, it's impossible to find a pattern and do any thoughtful prediction now.

I dont think its impossible but the easy trend is not there.  Its a steady fight between sellers and buyers.    I've been following 50 moving average on 4 hour bars, this has been a good handrail to follow as we step up and down and right now we are in a positive phase with price generally appreciating.
Theres more then a couple measures to follow then just that but Bitcoin is tricky and shoots upwards after languishing and I try to learn that just going sideways is not especially weak when it comes to crypto and it can rise from here certainly

Quote
We expect a favorable market in June? What are your thoughts guys ?
Its made a good base in June but has not risen strongly from there.    Theres better traders then me I've listened to me who say this is a slow bottom forming and will not give the fast results some want.    Its not a negative market imo
9149  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 22, 2018, 01:58:50 AM
I didnt realise big blocks meant more of a tendency to centralisation, otherwise I agree the argument for expansion parallel to tech advance would be a reasonable one.  Its interesting how each side is seeing the best path forward, I prefer the more diverse less central route if possible as I think that will weather best.

daily analysis here - waiting for breakout

Could be, I see the uptrend on the lows there.   I dont see the downtrend exactly or what would be a boundary upwards exactly
6528 was beat, thats support hopefully and 7369 range to 7724 as a target is reasonable seems like.   Also 6846 as a line we met early June before losing 6528
9150  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: June 22, 2018, 01:20:17 AM
From the look of things, legendary members do not need merits anymore. That is to say,it does not affect them in anyway. But they are those that are currently being given the higher number of merits by others. Hardly will you see a newbie or a jnr member being given a merit so far.Well, the merit system just started and we cant jump to conclusion how the trend will be.But i foresee that lower ranked members will struggle to get merits. I must say that this is an important check system that has been put in place, but i see myself being a newbie for another year or two. Grin Grin Grin

Main flaw here is you are presuming the low rank member and the highest ranked members are making exactly the same comment.   Its not the case, the higher rank people are probably going to make more of a comment that is welcomed or agreed with on the forum just because they been around a few years in many cases.     The new guys are going to take a while to find a thread where people appreciate more what they are saying, I think that makes sense and its not really any inside game against people.

If anything Iam biased against the legendary ranks because as said they dont exactly need it but sometimes I just want the comment on my history so I can go back, maybe it was genuinely useful or interesting.   On the other hand if I can double sometimes merit quite easily because they have almost nothing, thats cool and I do go ahead and do that way more often.   Only should take some genuine comment nobody else will post, I think thats what counts most.

Quite often there is useful info from very low post count members in the mining sections, some genuine knowledge and experience and yea not given enough merit.  There is a kind of natural economy but I dont think its being fixed against anyone, it might take some time to mature and propagate across the forum fully.

De-ranking due to not gaining merits in a certain period of time is kind of out of the question
People get distracted by events in life, I dont think derank can really be a thing.  Its not a competitive ranking system more ageing with more depth then plain activity takes

Janko departure is good for rat 4 black net
Nah, talent leaving is hardly a positive and nobody was sitting in opposition so as I far I know.   Sounds like he is just busy and will be back in time if possible, to me thats just normal.   Most people dont have the luxury to have just this one project occupy a large amount of their time, usually there is studies and all sorts of other distractions going on.
9152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Ercoin — proof of stake, fair distribution, messages, accounts, original code on: June 19, 2018, 06:34:58 PM
I think your thread is not detailed enough, requires more information, and needs to set more rewards to attract a large number of people to participate

Generally needs more info, more of a hook to capture peoples attention.     First five minutes of every introduction to a new entrant is vital in settling an image going forward in peoples handle on that particular product innovation I reckon

I would vote this domain from the choices listed.    I guess this is very much a work in progress so I'm always interested in new ideas and possibilities of course, good luck.

Burning Blackcoin ?  sacrilege, I dont mind new stuff, innovations but yea do make a new thread and I'll subscribe read up on it some.   Oh this is the right link I guess, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2071642
I'm not immediately seeing whats distinctive about it, but now I've posted the link it should be discussed there mostly.   Good luck
9154  Economy / Speculation / Re: who else has the feeling that bitcoin will keep going down? on: June 18, 2018, 06:11:06 PM
Its only a bull trap if the overall trend is down.   Thats not always been the case even recently.  Sometimes it would do better to buy in even if only short term and sell later.

Rather then rely on feelings to indicate the direction of a globally traded asset, I would just look at the base prospects such as population of users, usage, utility availability in bitcoin and related apps.   If all those things are rising its probably not especially negative even in the longer term.   The other side to consider is the case for dollar which is the current de facto standard.

The balance of the two, old and new is what gives direction and the price is on a very long leash to that with alot of speculation of course
9155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 18, 2018, 06:05:57 PM
The BIS report is nothing new, BTC asic uses energy and they say all value can be compromised easily.  Where as FIAT is tied to national trade and so far superior.    Just seems like a biased view, not especially insightful

The cash app has a license in NYC, big area but not massive news yet either.

The graph view is more interesting and possibly more bullish should we keep improving, confirm above this level

Were it not for DOGE's legacy as a joke coin, and its infinite emission schedule.

They state transactions not revenue so BCH is 859 dollars each and a doge is one fifth of a cent each.     So triple the transactions would not seem much when its likely far less revenue in value terms, less significance.   If thats what they meant by the graph

Code:
Volume (24h)
$334,153,000 USD
50,989 BTC
vs
Code:
Volume (24h)
$8,586,680 USD
1,310 BTC

39x the revenue in BCH favour.   This is why people dont trust graphs and statistics I guess.    Maybe their point was people, not value so doge is more widely used but I cant tell that

6639 to beat for btc and 6200 base is my rough view

I had read there that a measure of poverty extreme was 1 dollar a day and others talk about 2 dollars a day ... Then a lot of Venezuelans are in extreme poverty because they earn a dollar every 15 days ...

A dollar every 15 days makes no sense, I imagine its hard to track currency well.  Maybe its become barter, off the grid.    This is part of the efficiency function to every part of an economy, it even applies to money itself.  When inaccurate it really makes tracking any financial transaction hard to do I imagine.

This is why some people say we will eventually come back to gold as the age old reset of solid currency (governments world wide have this struggle with paper money, its no isolated criticism of one nation or system).  Gold cant be debased and has a direct measure of value consistant over thousands of years apparently.     Part of that argument to me would be crypto adds efficiency and certainly a fast clearance and instant transmission with low overhead in its utility to a population of users.   Hence crypto could be of great use to Venezuela and its people and I hope thats just how it turns out, everyone is better off with a system that works better.    But I've not read too much yet, if theres programmers available I hope they are valued and able to help the situation positively develop.

From what I remember, some years back India had a population of about 30% of its nation living on a dollar a day.      Maybe 10 years ago say, they have come a long way since

9158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling in the crypto market on: June 16, 2018, 05:14:56 AM

But even today also bitcoin is mostly used in gambling, porn and some illegal business more compared to other uses in mainstream business. Until now in my country, we can't buy any items from bitcoin or any other altcoins either in online or offline. I bought bitcoins mostly only for investment purpose and sometimes play online gambling but not much. I don't know how long it takes to get into mainstream business and we all can buy things directly using bitcoins or altcoins.

I dont think it has to be illegal exactly, crypto probably helps any business that is in someway disadvantaged.     I see alot of crypto in use for trading of virtual items, maybe payment for tokens, vouchers and discount cards.
Not everyone is a gambler or motivated by any of those things you mention.  Crypto is just cheap to use quite often and useful for tiny amounts.   Some of my crypto for example the wallet is giving me like a mining fee just for helping to confirm transactions.   So its a bit like interest on my money.  Other crypto types probably has its positives also.

All through the 90's people mentioned this micro transaction currency.   Long before the word bitcoin came, I think its just part of a trend not just for gambling
9159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin stay above 6500? on: June 13, 2018, 04:57:17 PM
In a bearish trend to gain a profit from buying you must predict each time the trend relents and we rise up, it should rise more quickly at that point and your buy is rewarded.    Predicting each level of support to buy into would be the advantage gained there.   It is harder to go against the prevailing wind and still advance but its possible, in a bear trend the spikes up are more extreme I have read where as a bullish trend the progress up is more regular, slower.
9160  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 13, 2018, 04:52:31 PM
The smartest bet of all, I will bet 13 btc on it not going to zero.    I think I'm hedged on that one, at some point I'm perfectly right either way :p

All kidding aside, I think BTC markets do love to slide to both extremes and of course the whales or however you view exchange volume they want the bigger splash not the indifferent hesitation of a price doing little in either direction which is more risky over time to take part in then catching a wave up or down.

If you want a distraction, I would look at US dollar.   With US treasury bond rate yields rising, it should put the pressure on lots of alternative holdings.   USD has seen some strength recently, I dont know if the NPK agreement today was helping in forming a positive trend to dollar.  Ultimately I think it declines but short term it appears stronger, the peak actually being in early 2017 in anticipation with the reality being deficit spending, weakness, etc.

I dont really rate costs as a determiner of prices, that would apply if we had a relationship of production falling off or increasing on higher prices. BTC doesnt operate like that, like a mined metal would hence bigger spikes up and more volatility then many markets
