9161  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 25, 2021, 03:28:13 AM
Does this mean if you are living in Karnataka and you are using VPN you will be charged for online gambling because you are using VPN? they must first establish that you are using VPN to gamble and a VPN company will not give them confidential information on how their clients are using their service and they must go to court to take your computer.
But yes I agree if you are going to break the law be sure you know what you are doing and you know how the authorities can track your activity online.

Technically that will be the case.. but I don't think that they will go that far. Parliamentarians come up with a lot of useless laws every year in India and most of the times they are ignored. For example, porn is banned and anyone searching for porn faces a prison term up to 6 months. But India remains the top consumer of porn in the world, and as far as I know no one has been arrested for watching it. The same goes for file sharing with torrents. Technically, anyone downloading pirated movies face prison term. And although uploaders have been arrested, none of those who downloaded it has faced any legal action so far.
9162  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA Banning bitcoin: PBOC Says All Crypto-Related Transactions Are Illegal on: September 25, 2021, 03:18:12 AM
People are overlooking the other big piece of news coming out of China now - the collapse of the biggest property company within China that has huge debts. Either one of two things is happening, or possibly a combination of both. Banning bitcoin puts a lot of news out there to distract from this massive company collapse that could ripple through the whole economy and send them into a recession. Secondly, a lot of people within authoritarian regimes are always looking to keep their money out of the hands of the central government that might confiscate it if they fall out of line or they're looking for convenient scapegoats at any time. This is an attempt to stop money fleeing the country in the simplest terms.

China is the most manipulated economy in the world and what happened to Evergrande is just the tip of the iceberg. The Chinese economy managed to attain so much growth in recent times because the investors had no option to go for anything other than the overpriced assets that were locally available. The average P/E ratios for Chinese stocks stand at 40-50, compared to 10-12 in the other markets. Real estate prices make no sense and a lot people invested in them since they had no other option. I won't be surprised if the Chinese economy undergo a massive correction sometime in the next 1-2 years. The ban on BTC is not going to help.
9163  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: September 25, 2021, 03:08:39 AM
If the Nigerian government included bitcoin and cryptocurrencies it would be a good endorsement. In this case we know that the e-naira is the absolute control in Nigeria by the power of its rulers. But I can see it positive on the one hand because I know how people suffer, for example, when making a payment, sending money, etc. It is in an infrastructure that does not work and the worst in a country where there is exclusion.

I live in Venezuela and we sometimes suffer from many problems when making payments and sending money because there are failures in the state bank where the majority of Venezuelans use it, there is a power failure and internet sometimes which causes delays and waste of time.

There are two opposing approaches being made to cryptocurrency by the global governments. Countries like El Salvador are encouraging its usage and are benefitting from it (if not now, then in the future). On the other hand we have authoritarian regimes such as those in China, India and Nigeria, who think that they can prohibit ordinary people from using Bitcoin. Now I don't know which camp will emerge successful in the end. The stance from those who are in between matters a lot (i.e United States, Japan.etc).
9164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 25, 2021, 02:58:42 AM
Generally, I have seen in T20 matches that if you score anywhere above 180 then it is competitive. This match start was really good but RCB were not able to maintain that momentum. I was too expecting them to score more than 200 but the middle order collapsed too fast. With only 156 runs to chase CSK won the match without any effort.

Depends on the pitch. In the UAE 160-180 can be competitive. RCB bowlers also did a poor job yesterday. The pacers (Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini and Harshal Patel) failed completely and the much hyped Wanindu Hasaranga was a big failure yesterday. Yuzvendra Chahal was the only one who performed well. It was a direct battle between Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. And as expected, the latter emerged as victorious, because he had better tactics. I am hearing some rumors as well. There was a statement by Nick Compton regarding bias in selection by Kohli.. I agree for most part, but don't want to go in to the details.

The fact is that small boards have always said yes no matter what was the condition because they need revenue. Big boards are already generating good revenue therefore they show their tantrums. Small boards have tried their level best to increase revenue but till now they have been struggling, until then the situation will remain the same.

Again.. there is no point in blaming the cricket boards, when the decision is taken by the government. In this case, the New Zealand government asked the NZC to pull out of Pakistan and they complied with that. If the Bangladesh government ask the BCB to do the same in future, then I am afraid that the BCB will be forced to do so. On paper, the cricket boards are independent entities. But in security related matters, they need to follow the government directives. As far as I know, this is a political issue and need to be resolved between the governments. Let's leave the cricket boards for now.
9166  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-11] India's upcoming cryptocurrency law seeks to balance stability and on: September 24, 2021, 04:34:39 AM
This is not like this that only India is trying to implement rules about crypto currency payment or investment. If I am not wrong then the list of countries is enough longer and all they are trying to get the best regulatory way. Government have always attention on reducing black money transaction and how to stop illegal transaction. Its been a long time Indian governments is observing their citizens activity with crypto and no doubt that crypto world will get a massive boost if a country make crypto legal who have 1 billion population. Although its not that easy for them when they are continuing their fight against corruption and black money. I don't think Indian government or court will publish early decision about crypto but a large number of people in India have already introduced with bitcoin. Even still you will get a good number of new crypto projects who have Indian citizen on their team and they are working with this for a long time.

Every countries government always give priority to Tax and Indians are not different from here but important thing is that how Indian government open the crypto space for their people with strict control. If they can't control the transaction then you can expect that billions of illegal and black money holders will get a chance to convert their asset.

Rather than crying about tax evasion all the time, the governments should first analyze the reason for that happening. In case of India, the top tax bracket is 43% and the biggest joke is that only 2% of the total population pays income tax. Others are exempted, using various loopholes. Now on top of that, the government hasn't fully legalized freelancing and related professions. Freelancing (when the employer is from outside India) is a big grey area in India, as far as tax legality is concerned. Now let's come to cryptocurrency. The official stance from the government is that cryptocurrency transactions are not legal, but anyone who has received a profit from them needs to pay tax. Now who will be stupid enough to do that?
9167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Karnataka ( A state in India ) they introduced bill in assembly to ban o.gamblin on: September 24, 2021, 04:19:24 AM
Banning something should always be the last resort, and when it comes to gambling it is obvious regulation is the right choice not only for the players but also for the government, the government benefits from the taxes they get from it and the players benefit from having the government check that the games are not so heavily skewed on the house favor and that players are actually paid when they win, with a ban everyone losses with the exception of organized crime which now have a new industry to exploit.

We are talking about India, and the people have a sense of fake morality. On the outside they are against alcohol, porn, gambling.etc. But India remains the no.1 consumer of in all these sectors. The government knows that it may gain tax revenue if gambling is legalized and regulated. But doing so is a huge risk, and the "conservative" (i.e those who oppose these things on the outside and actually addicted to them on the inside) voters may take revenge by voting against them en bloc. And steps such as new prohibitions immediately boost the standing of the government with this section of the voters.

I am sure that you were less productive at home, compared to working from the office. No one works from home 9 to 17 with a 1 hour lunch break. There are so many things at home that distract from work.

Speak for yourself and not for others. A few days back, in my office we had a meeting in our office to review the performance of the employees for the last 12 months. My manager noticed an overall increase in the quantity of output, and the quality remained at the same level. If you are unable to focus on your work, or unable to deliver the same volumes, then there may be something wrong at your end. If that is the case, you need to attend the office, as soon as it opens. But for productive employees like me, we are more comfortable working from home.
9169  Economy / Economics / Re: Future economic fear of the rich and poor. on: September 24, 2021, 03:55:36 AM
The pandemic kills all the potential as to where rich and poor could go to enjoy. Even if they migrate somewhere, Pandemic is all around.

"poor people becoming poorer while rich people becoming richer" probably will not apply this time unless the rich really know where to put their investment to make more money. Did you know that the rich hypocrites are shouting so they could tax their rich enemies? I hope they don't exempt themselves.

I have found that a great majority of those who shout "tax the rich" are hypocrites themselves. Take the case of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who recently created some cheap publicity for herself by showing up with a gown with the "tax the rich" message on a $35,000 per ticket event.  For millionaires like AOC, the proposed tax increases are not going to have an impact on their net wealth, because the current tax structure is designed in a way for them to avoid paying taxes. "Tax the rich" is actually "spare the rich, and tax the middle class".
9170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: September 24, 2021, 03:45:23 AM
Şenol Güneş, the coach of the Turkish national team, left his job. Instead of Şenol Güneş, it was agreed with the German coach Stefan Kuntz. We will now see Kuntz as coach in the remaining matches of WCQ. Turkey has a qualified staff. Güneş did not use this squad. What will Kuntz do? Will they be able to beat Norway in the first match? We will see them all soon.

I think this is good news - it's better to try to fix something than wait for the problems to disappear by themselves. Turkey was in an obvious crisis and now with a new coach it will probably come out of it, in addition, I noticed that usually (at least at the club level) a change of coach usually encourages the team (players are more actively fighting for their place in the main squad) and the team's results are at least improve in the short term.

I would disagree. I know that the Turkish team is not doing extremely well recently, but let's not forget the fact that it they made the biggest upset by defeating the Netherlands when Şenol Güneş was still coaching the team. And if their form has dipped recently, then there may be a chance that it was due to some reason other than the coach. My opinion is that changing the coach at this point may result in further chaos and disorganization. Güneş was made a scapegoat. Can Stefan Kuntz get adjusted with the team members immediately? It may take some time for that.
9171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 24, 2021, 03:35:12 AM
BCCI is going to face a lot of financial losses if they cannot control the Covid-19 situation in the IPL and it will lead to a lot of other problems too. Like them not being able to complete this IPL. And I haven't even talked about the worst-case scenario. Because we sure don't wanna see any player die because of COVID-19 and get blamed by the whole world that IPL was responsible for that. I think we all get the point, BCCI should be more careful and cautious and also strict about this matter.

Previously, the players were not vaccinated against COVID and in case someone got infected then there was a very high possibility that he might have required hospitalization. But now the situation has changed. Everyone is fully vaccinated and even if the player is infected then the chances of hospitalization is near zero. This is also one of the reasons why the BCCI is now more relaxed towards players testing positive for COVID inside the bubble. Anyway, they can't afford the disruption for the second time.
9172  Economy / Economics / Re: E-Naira: CBN to launches Nigeria’s digital currency on: September 24, 2021, 03:26:09 AM
OK.. so now CBDCs represent another option for the government to create unlimited amounts of fiat currency out of thin air. And do you know the best part about them? They don't even need to spend money on paper and ink. This is like the ideal situation for governments all around the world. And then next step will be the prohibition of proper cryptocurrencies, similar to the way China did. If real cryptocurrencies are in circulation, then obviously these CBDC shitcoins won't be able to compete against them.
9173  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador Bitcoin payment option on: September 24, 2021, 03:15:18 AM
I just found out who is leading the development of the Chivo Wallet Jack Mallers. He is also in charge of the latest on Twitter about sending tip payments in bitcoin to NFT for the content creators who will be receiving it.

If the Salvadorans who are still resisting using bitcoin. Now they will know first-hand on Twitter when they interact with content that is receiving bitcoin payment tip.
It is a master move so that bitcoin is definitely seen with its usefulness in everyday life for everyone thanks to the power of the lightning network.

If I were Salvadoran I would feel proud for the use of bitcoin in my country and for the contribution we would be making in the world.

There will always be opposition towards new innovations. And as the surveys are pointing out, more than half of the Salvadoran population have no knowledge about Bitcoin. So essentially they are opposing something that is unknown to them. Gradually, as they gain knowledge, their attitude may change. And I don't care much about those who oppose cryptocurrency in that country. They already have the choice of making payments in US Dollar. But they don't have the right to demand that others should not use BTC.
9174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 24, 2021, 03:05:16 AM
I wouldn't say that quality is not there. You can easily find 8-10 quality teams who can beat any SENA country domestic team here in India 9 out of 10 times and able to put good show in SENA country against local teams. Even 3-4 local teams can give good scare to any touring team (intl), we have seen this in the past countless time.

County cricket also struggling, pitches there are ridiculously favors the fast bowlers that's why you see 4 days match gets done and dusted in just 2 days regularly.

In county cricket, almost all of the 18 teams are at the same level. But in the Indian domestic cricket, out of the 38 teams you have 4-5 extremely good teams such as Karnataka, Delhi and Mumbai, and then on the other end of the spectrum you have a few teams who are there just to make up the numbers (Sikkim, Mizoram.etc). Personally I favor organizing Indian domestic cricket in the form of zonal sides - such as Northern Zone and Central Zone. There are too many state sides and the quality gets diluted when you form the state-based squads.
9175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 24, 2021, 02:55:17 AM
Interestingly the fan following of T20 cricket is more than the Test cricket. Amazingly you do not need a lot of skills like Test cricket in T20 format. You only need to hit the ball well as a batsman and as a bowler, you need to restrict the batsmen. I am not a fan of Test cricket and most of us here would agree that we do not have time to watch the match for a whole day. I generally go for the highlights rather than checking the score.

I agree. Test cricket is more "classical" and it needs more skills. When legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Alan Donald, Glen McGrath, Shane Warne.etc play test cricket, it is a treat to watch. But for the new fans, who are in their teens and 20s, test format is not very appealing. To tell the truth, no one has 40 hours to spare, to go through an entire match. Even I used to watch a lot of test cricket 10-15 years ago. But now I restrict myself to some very important series such as the Ashes, WTC finals and Border-Gavaskar trophy.
9176  Economy / Economics / Re: New regulation in South Korea has forced several exchanges to close on: September 23, 2021, 04:24:13 AM
New controls in south korea have forced many exchanges to close because it could surprise many to name south korea as the main suspect in a major cyber attack. It is one of the poorest countries in the world and is isolated from the rest of the world in terms of technology economy and almost everything else also crypto decentralized has no government control here. The government cannot take any part of the profit in crypto no tax from now on that's why  thinking of stopping.

Are you confusing South Korea with North Korea? The OP referred to the South, as the new law is applicable there. No cryptocurrency exchange operates in the North. However, North Korean hackers have been accused of hacking many of the cryptocurrency exchanges which are based in South Korea and Japan in recent times. And it is impossible to take any legal action against them. North Korea is already under all sorts of sanctions and embargoes. It is not possible to impose any new restriction or penalty upon them.
9177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons for newbies loss in bitcoin on: September 23, 2021, 04:10:13 AM
No wonder the ultra rich does not like crypto because if they tried and they fail, they will fail miserably. Better not to indulge in cryptocurrency than risk your money to something you don't understand. And having that get-rich-quick kind of thinking like you said will not work with cryptocurrency. The ones who made tons of money here were the ones who were patient enough to wait for the price to be right.

The real reason why the ultra-rich doesn't like Bitcoin is not because they are unable to make profits out of it. The real reason is that most of their assets are in fiat economy, and cryptocurrency represents a threat to that. Many of the uber-rich do have investments with cryptocurrency, and many of them have profited out of it. But even then, it poses a threat for the maintenance of their wealth. Another factor is that cryptocurrency has the potential to create a large number of new millionaires (and even billionaires). This will dilute the standing of the current millionaires.
9178  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is one of the saviors. on: September 23, 2021, 04:00:06 AM
You are right, I am not only with Bitcoin, because those who have something to invest in do so without thinking about it in BTC, when they go up in price they obtain large profits, of course according to their investment, if the investment is large it gives greater benefits, another of The things that I have seen the most in crypto that make profits are those that buy in pre-sales, and that sell in the public sale.

I have seen these options in both betatest and NFT game projects, which are very fashionable now, in this way it is what I have seen that all the knowledge of commerce applies.

Well.. I agree partially with the pre-sales part. But remember that there is no guarantee that you should always end up with a profit. There are too many scam projects coming online recently and if you go for pre-sales, then you will end up with a loss. I don't understand the need to go for new projects and NFTs, when we already have so many established projects to chose from. Even investing in Bitcoin should return 5x-20x profits in the next 4-5 years. That is still much better when compared to the potential returns from stocks or any other asset for the same duration.
9179  Economy / Economics / Re: Future economic fear of the rich and poor. on: September 23, 2021, 03:50:09 AM
If you say so but during this pandemic I don't think they can handle any more losses. Yes, that phrase as "poor people becoming poorer while rich people becoming richer" is too common to almost everyday but with this pandemic if this will continue for more than a year then what do you expect to the rich people who are living on a country where there's always a lockdown? Do you think they can still enjoy their wealth more than the others like how the poor people live their life? I think it depends on who has the strongest will to survive will always wins.

In the United States, the top 1% of the population pays 40% of all the taxes. And trust me, if needed many of these people can just migrate to another country. For this group, the tax rates are already sky high, with the marginal tax rates approaching 60%. Now Biden regime wants to increase the capital gains tax to the same level. Do you really think that anyone would take the risk of investing in volatile assets, if there is a chance that 60% of their potential profits would go up as taxes? The left-leaning governments are just killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. By the time the population realizes this, it will be too late.
9180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant on: September 23, 2021, 03:40:10 AM
^ Mate just looks at the stats. Canelo He's just going to run over Plant. I wonder why plant did all those trash-talking, if plant actually should have done anything I think he should have practiced more and make plans about how to defeat his opponent in the ring rather than defeating his opponent in the press conference. And after the press conference, I honestly think that the man has no fear for his life, lol Tongue.

It is a well planned strategy employed by some of the boxers to divert the attention of their higher ranked opponent. However in this case, I am not sure whether it will work or not. Because Canelo seems to have ignored the comments made by Caleb. Ideally that is what the stronger opponents should do. But sometimes they lose their focus and get provoked by the statements. And this gives an opportunity for underdogs such as Caleb. I don't support any of this, but Caleb's behavior makes perfect sense for me.
