9162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Problems with the boards after burning a fan! on: July 18, 2021, 07:00:40 PM
What did you run at?

freq 384 or lower?

freq 400 or higher?

are you usa based?

my thoughts are

like the words from an old rock and rock song.

“Nah Nah Na Na say hey goodby.”

looks like you fried it all.

but the hope would be that a proper fan and not a crazy stupid burn the controller board could help.

So detach the 7500 rpm monster over kill fan and stop taxing the controller.

find a proper fan and try again.

good luck as you will need it.

you could look in the marketplace here and see if anyone is selling L3+ gear.

hint some one is.

he is a usa based seller.

it is me.

I also am selling working L3+ boards.

and I could toss in a proper fan.
9163  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: July 18, 2021, 06:00:21 PM
as of now we should be at 110 blocks and we are at 117 so we are +6%

far too soon 🔜 for accurate guesses.

I am hoping to be in the +2 to + 4 slot.

A +10 or +15 would feel superheated.

another - number would be a bit nerve wracking.

we will wait and see what happens in more time.
9164  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I'm out of touch lately - any good hobby-miners for my in-laws (110v USA) on: July 18, 2021, 04:22:36 PM
If you are usa based I can build you a modded s9.

uses an apw3++ psu which will work on 120 volts.

Runs braiins firmware

you can set it to 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 th

higher the louder.

You can control the fan speed as low as 1800 as high as 5200

5th setting is pretty quiet. pulls about 400 watts

I could ship it by tuesday.

I have a thread 🧵 in hardware.

here is a modded s9 with braiins near top speed.

volts set to 8.85
freq set to 625
fan set to 80% about 5120 rpm note  max chip temp is 85C

does 9 th.
it should pull close to 850 watts
it should work on 120 volt power
uses Bitmain apw3++ psu
only 1 fan to save on watts
this is a loud setting

Same rig lower settings

volts set  to 8.15
freq set   to 325
fan set to 18%  about 2300 rpm please  note max chip temp is under 78c

does 4.7 th
it should pull close to 400 watts
it will work on 120 volts
uses Bitmain apw3++ psu
only 1 fan to save watts
this is fairly quiet setting.

For introduction these are pretty good.
For changing speed these are super good.

You can't go over the 9th safely but you can drop lower the the 4.8 th I show for the low setting.

Freq can set to 200 and volts to 7.9   the low I did was at freq 325 and volts at 8.15
9165  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 258 blocks solved! on: July 18, 2021, 03:24:02 PM
so now all have paid and i will start the run in some hours.

update: Most vote for 15-20 or max speed. Then we make 20 PHs this round

Viel Glück!

Good luck with the new L7 and the sale Phil.  I'm really jealous and tempted to order one as well but I always fear the import tax kills the deal for me.

I owe you a good deal on something.  Grin

I am selling loose l3 + boards on ebay and full l3+ in marketplace.

I did really well with my l3+ gear.

9167  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: July 18, 2021, 03:40:28 AM
I smell +2 to +4%

Gear prices in China went up about 15-20% in the last couple of days, and since the price has been stable or more to the downside than up, and the difficulty hasn't changed in the past few days and thus profitability wasn't a factor this means

1- The Chinese are relocating to different regions in China.

Or / And

2- The demand from outside of China spiked.

The reason is somehow irrelevant, the outcome however is rather clear, at 32k Bitcoin we will unlikely witness any difficulty drop below the current levels, so if I had to bet, I would bet on the difficulty to go up (assuming the price doesn't collapse), and then remains the question of how much up? if it's the Chinese relocating within China then the rise will be fast, if it's overseas, it will be as small as you think.

My long-term projection remains the same, we will go up slowly, we won't see the ATH difficulty level any time soon, probably not until 2022.

I would love to see a slow climb to 22.22th by jan 27 2022

I am happy to buy this from you at your advertised price without the use of escrow. You ship first and when I receive I will send you the bitcoin.  PM for shipping details if interested.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Sure makes it look like your are trying to scam given I am about as close to a guaranteed payment as you can get given my trust.

But I'm not, so there's that.

You  have not been active in years and your name looks like blokforge. as if you do not know that blokforge is known to be a good member here.

You are marked with negative trust.

how on earth do you expect to sell the silver.

If you were a clever thief you would have sold one or two to someone  like lesbian cow and then scammed the third buyer.

too late for that now.

2022 I think I read it

 which is too long.

oh the diff just hit so I get to mine more  corn for 2 weeks.

-4.807%

https://www.bitrawr.com/difficulty-estimator

Last adjustment was really big this one not so much

I projected 5% 2 weeks ago I was close.

Lets say I wished for -5% maybe honey badger does care Grin

Difficulty drop and price bump. You love to see it

As a miner..

diff has dropped from

25.3 to 14.4 in last 2 months

price has dropped

64k to 34k

If you do the math in terms of collecting and stacking coins it means more coins and if you are just selling to cash (I am not). you are making about 5% less in terms of cash

14.4/25.3 x 64k = 36k and price  is 34.6k

I am concerned with the new diff adjustment coming in 2 weeks

...

We are down about 14%
It is very early but a 14% drop on top of the 27.94% drop is more than I thought would happen.

If we drop 14% and go from 14.3 to 12.29 we are well under 50% of the gear online

That could be a real security issue.  I advise all to check the diff  and see what it does. this adjustment is important how does that go "the next 2 weeks are critical"

https://diff.cryptothis.com/

is easy to understand.  I really do not want any drop over 10% in 2-2.5 weeks I would prefer a drop of 5% or less.

I just look at the current pace number which is real time.

I expect at least 40 above the pace when we are at the 1900 block number which should be 12,13 days from now.
9172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BITMAIN releases a new batch of mining machines L7 and Z15 on: July 17, 2021, 11:23:23 PM
3425 watt for a new ASIC miner? What are bitmain doing? They should start working on less consumption technology for their ASIC miners, this is 2021 for crying out loud, this is one reason why I don't do ASICS, there is no way near anything called energy efficiency

Look

19x l3+ do 9500 mh and pull 19 x 800 = 15200 watts

 1 x l7   does 9500 mh and pulls 3450 watts

seems to me to be an improvement of 4.4x   as 4.4 x  3450 = 15180 watts

I ordered one.

And to anyone I am selling my 800 watt l3's  In hand ready to ship as soon as this Monday.

Phillip, if you're giving merit to this seller, I assume you're vouching for them as a legitimate seller? No

A merit is simply to allow them to leave newbie status so they can handle pm's better.

I have only dealt with grace from miner expert if you look you will see I gave her a merit a year or so ago.

I have not been able to confirm that Bella works with grace.

Grace was pretty good seller.

this was her profile

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2706610

her posts

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2706610;sa=showPosts

and her telegram

https://t.me/minerexpertsales

it does say Bella works there on telegram

my assumption is they work together at miner expert.

I would directly message grace on telegram to be sure that the Bella here is the Bella on telegram.

mikeywith has done a lot of work with grace you can pm him to help find out if this Bella is good.

9176  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: mynode rasp pi 4 builds and comparisons on: July 17, 2021, 02:22:04 PM
So far I did 2 builds they work but my feeling is the rasp pi4 is under powered for this task.

I will do a build with a dell micro using an i7 8700t and 32 gb ram. Just busy for now.

build 1  cost was about 260 + 105 = 365 this gives a 4gb ram rasp pi 4 and is easier to build.

build 2 cost was about 120 + 105+ 99 = 324 this gives a 8gb ram rasp pi 4 and is a bit more work to create

both take over 3 days to synch the full block chain

When I do the dell micro build  with a vm I will post results.
9177  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: July 17, 2021, 12:16:42 PM
... and today there's been 7 blocks from a miner who is mining to a new address and not putting anything in the coinbase to identify them.
One block 7 hours ago, then six in the last 3 hours.

So someone is definitely trying to increase the hash rate ...

See the current block 691111 coinbase.

...
Looks like that was fupool using that 691,111 block bc1 address (bc1q7wed...) and not identifying it as themselves again.

The last address they did that with (bc1qf274...) for about 330 blocks, stopped at block 691,063 also didn't have their name in the coinbase, but they transferred block rewards to the usual fupool mining address, so it obviously was them.
That address stopped appearing just before this new one appeared (and has now been in 35 blocks)

Meanwhile, the history calc on the diff is now -4.58% with only 67 blocks to go, thus very likely that hash rate is now increasing again.

-4.44% is better than I hoped for.

July 3 to July 17 at 14.36
July 17 to July 31 at 13.72
Aug 1 to  Aug 15 at 14.00?  Next guess on my part.

9178  Economy / Economics / Re: Very interesting ban on mining gear. Actually a pc from Dell on: July 17, 2021, 02:53:17 AM
Philipma1957, thanks for noticing and posting this.  I'm almost speechless at the absolute stupidity of this, basically for the reasons that vapourminer pointed out.

What I'm wondering is why customers in those particular states are being restricted from buying 3070s and 3080s.  That isn't something Dell would just decide--it would have to come down from some governmental agency in each state, and if there are that many refusing to allow the purchase of high-end graphics cards, it seems to me that this must have been discussed in a national meeting (though I don't know what kind of meeting; it could be energy regulators or some other group).

When is this governmental cocksuckery aimed at crypto going to end?

yet hp.com will sell and ship a 3090 which pulls over 400 watts.

I am shocked to see this.

Well op is wrong but pow may soon be under worldwide attack.

this is on dell website.
six states ban this gear. and it pulls only 250 watts for 3070 or 400 watts for 3090

The ban is in 6 states.
It is for 3070 and for 3080 models

The 3080 pulls under 325 watts.
