921  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is minimum safe amount of fee that can be set manually in Electrum wallet? on: June 04, 2020, 09:56:50 AM
Well... currently, it's constrained more by amounts than anything else. Trying to find paths through channels that allow sending of more than 50k-100k sats can be problematic Sad Undecided

As long as you are connected to a well-connected node or have multiple active channels, you can split your payment into multiple smaller parts. All implementations now support this feature; some clients need to be updated, though.
922  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: June 02, 2020, 11:35:32 PM
I guess the answer is no; but may it's just that I haven't found the option. And, in case it's not available... is this a feature that will be coming with Trezor Suite?

Sorry, but you can't do that in both Trezor Suite and Trezor Wallet. The following screenshot is a fragment of the 'Receiving' tab from Trezor Suite.

'Total Received' is a completely useless stat, especially for people who consolidate their UTXOs. Current balance would be more useful.
923  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Trx Fee on: June 02, 2020, 08:32:10 PM
Because the minimum fee is 1 sat/B.
Anything below that, won't get relayed by the nodes. Therefore such a transaction would never reach a miner and would never be included.

minRelayFee is freely configurable by node operators, so there should be some nodes accepting < 1 sat/byte transactions. As far as I remember, the default value was supposed to be decreased in some Bitcoin Core update, but I am not sure if it's still relevant. I could only find this.

Lastly, if someone can send me any current publication links on the "beta" stuff for Trezor previously mentioned, that would be awesome... Ty.

There isn't really much information about it because only few people got invited to the beta. You can become a beta tester by subscribing to the Trezor newsletter. Don't worry, they won't spam your e-mail. I haven't tested the new software, yet. I will give it a shot in the next few days.
925  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallets... on: June 02, 2020, 12:11:19 AM
I guess it doesn't matter whether it's typed in to the computer or on the device itself.

Technically, if you were ever to enter your seed on the same computer, which you shouldn't really do, it could be a threat.

But the inconsistencies with electrum using different addresses than what's on the trezor website is a little weird.

By default, Electrum generates native SegWit addresses (bc1...) while Trezor Wallet supports only legacy (1...) and nested SegWit (3...) addresses. The upcoming Trezor Suite (a desktop and mobile app) will introduce an official support for generating native SegWit addresses. However, it is still in early beta. If you want to use the same type of addresses as Trezor Wallet supports then you should take a closer look at the following screen which appears when adding a new wallet using a hardware device.

First, you have to select what type of address you want (p2sh-segwit would be the best choice if you need to be able to access your coins through Trezor Wallet for some reason). Then, you can modify the derivation path. The last number is the number of the account you want to access. Zero is the first account, one is the second and so on. I would leave it at native SegWit, though.

To rectify that I guess we should say, is that just entering the addresses given to me by trezor manually into electrum as a watch wallet?

If you enter your address manually into Electrum then you will get a watch-only wallet. However, in order to be able to spend coins using your hardware wallet, you have to choose another option ('Standard wallet -> Use a hardware device').

But then if you go to send from that, the secret key, is still stored on the device and never transferred to electrum?

Yes, your private keys never leave your device. Electrum only knows your Master Public Key from which new addresses are derived. If you disconnect your hardware wallet, Electrum will act as a watch-only wallet.

But then what if it's a wallet with a passphrase I set on electrum but want to see that address on the trezor site. Same thing by just entering the pass. I guess think of it as a backwards compatibility type question.

I hope that you don't confuse a passphrase with a password which encrypts Electrum wallet file. Once you enable passphrase support in the settings on Trezor Wallet, both Electrum and Trezor Wallet will prompt you to enter your passphrase every time you open your wallet. You should see the same addresses on both wallets using the same passphrase.
926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Seeds on: June 01, 2020, 12:31:11 PM
Aren't they all generated by the same method? (BIP39)

No, Electrum for instance, uses their own method which they introduced two years before BIP39 was released. You can import a BIP39 seed in Electrum, though.
927  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.trezor.app on: May 31, 2020, 09:25:02 AM
I want to buy some hardware wallets, but these ratings make me think again.

You should take a closer look at the ratings. As for the Ledger Live, there are lot of 1 star ratings claiming that there is not support for Ledger Nano S. This problem was addressed a long time ago. A lot of people don't update their reviews. Also, Android is not iOS. A lot of people might be trying to run Ledger Live on crappy devices with no manufacturer support. I used to own a few such devices and some apps would not launch for no reason. Ledger Live now works perfectly on my OnePlus phone.

As for the Trezor Manager, it does exactly what the name suggests. It lets you manage your device, so you will not be able to check your balance, send transactions or generate new addresses. Upcoming Trezor Suite should provide such functionality, but it is currently in the beta stage only for computers. Most ratings are complaints about that. Green Wallet supports both Trezor One and model T, but they force users to use their 2-of-2 multisig setup.

929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Hi, did they send with a too low fee? on: May 27, 2020, 05:11:39 PM
Did they provide enough fee for it to be confirmed or not?

The mempool cleared up in the last few hours. Currently, there is ~2.5 MB of transactions paying 4 sat/byte or more in the mempool so your transaction should get confirmed in the next few blocks as long as nothing extraordinary happens.

Btw would you mind to removing password to beta from one of your previous posts? We picked up just few beta testers and at this point we don't want average Joe to have an access there; the software is experimental and we want to control amount of people using it. Thank you!

Sure, I have just removed it from my post. Would you mind if I wrote about the "Suite" in a separate topic without the login credentials or do you want to keep a low profile for now?
931  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live wrong balance on: May 27, 2020, 09:10:07 AM
You'll be able with this to also check if funds were sent to your address, but not confirmed (which can be your case too).

The coins would appear in Ledger Live as unconfirmed, though. It's most likely a synchronization issue since OP claims to have been really cautious about double-checking the address.
932  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Live wrong balance on: May 27, 2020, 09:06:55 AM
Is there any tutorial I can find?
What did I do wrong?

Let's try two different things for now. Open Ledger Live settings (top-right corner), go to 'Help' tab and select 'Clear cache'. Give your wallet a moment to resynchronize with Ledger's servers. If it doesn't work then maybe there is something wrong with your accounts. Did you create a new account for this transaction or did you use an existing one?
933  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why my blockchain is so small ? on: May 27, 2020, 07:22:40 AM
Go to the settings, select options and see if you have 'Prune block storage to ...' enabled under 'Main' tab. If you do, it means that your client downloads and verifies every single block, but keeps only a specified amount of data. If you want to serve as an archival node then you will have to redownload all the blocks again after disabling pruning. If you use Bitcoin Core only as your wallet then you will be fine with such a setup.

By the way, the synchronization time decreases greatly if you move the chainstate to an SSD. It took me about 10 hours to sync using a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and an NVMe SSD.
934  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can only send my entire balance on: May 25, 2020, 11:05:17 PM
Also uninstalled the wallet, but I never put in any 2 step verification codes or such in the old wallet, so they shouldnt be able to do anything with my "new" wallet, am I correct?

Since you are referring to 2FA, I assume that you are using TrustedCoin service to co-sign your transactions. Even if your wallet file was uploaded somewhere, it is completely useless because of 2FA. Since you were about to send some of your coins, you could add another output spending the rest of your coins to a new wallet anyway. It won't cost you much and it will ensure that your funds are completely safe.
935  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can only send my entire balance on: May 25, 2020, 10:41:45 PM
Hmm that is very odd, i clicked a link from the "old" wallet. How could I possibly have downloaded the wrong version? :s

Did that link appear when you tried to send a transaction? Versions older than 3.3.4 are vulnerable to phishing. Malicious servers are still tricking users into downloading a fake version. New versions now have built-in update notifications which can't be forged because the update messages are signed with a hardcoded Bitcoin address. Nevertheless, you should still verify the installers according to the guide from my previous post.

You should consider your wallet and PC as compromised. You should create a new wallet and move your coins there.
936  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can only send my entire balance on: May 25, 2020, 10:15:29 PM
I am running 4.0.0, which I believe is the latest?

That's the problem. 4.0.0 hasn't been released officially, yet. The latest official version is 3.3.8. You have downloaded a fake version of Electrum (a similar case). Uninstall it, scan your PC with Malwarebytes (reinstalling the whole OS would be safer, though) and download Electrum from the official website. You should also verify the signature of the installer to see if it wasn't modified or replaced.

Where did you download Electrum from? Do you have your recovery seed? If not, you will have to export your private keys before uninstalling the fake version.

Could it be because my balance is divided into different "adresses"?

As long as the funds are in the same wallet, you can use coins from multiple addresses in a single transaction.
937  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can only send my entire balance on: May 25, 2020, 09:59:59 PM
What version of Electrum do you have? Try mitigating your problem this way: Select 'Tools' -> 'Pay to many' and fill 'Pay to' like this:

Code:
destination_address, 0.00056082
any_of_your_addresses, !

'!' should force Electrum to spend all the remaining funds after deducting the transaction fee. By the way, your transaction should get confirmed in the next few blocks even if you set your transaction fee to 4 sat/byte right now.

938  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallets... on: May 23, 2020, 08:28:15 PM
Would have to double check,  but as far as avoid issues goes. As long as trezor does LTC which I believe it does. It, may be the better option. Def more reading to do.

Trezor supports LTC. You should read about the unfixable vulnerability found in Trezor devices and their response to the described attacks. They are very unlike to happen and require a physical access to the device, but everyone should be warned about it before making a purchase. Ledger is not vulnerable to any (publicly known) attack at the moment, but because of Secure Element, it is not fully open-source.
939  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is some solution connect desktop Electrum Wallet and some mobile iOS wallet? on: May 23, 2020, 02:02:38 PM
I don't think so. These versions are multisig-wallets 2/2 too. You only have one BIP39 seed, and you need two to recover.

Actually, you're right. I was quite sure that I could use Green Wallet while being offline and generate native SegWit addresses, but I have just double checked that and I am wrong. Normally, I would have recommended Samourai Wallet, but it hasn't been released for iOS, yet.
940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Dumping private keys gives me an error on: May 21, 2020, 08:20:57 AM
But I get back: Cannot open wallet dump file (code -8)

Your forgot about inverted commas. You should also choose a different location. I couldn't dump my wallet directly to the C drive (probably due to lack of permissions). Try the following command (replace USERNAME with your username).

Code:
dumpwallet "C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop\dump.txt"
