I fully agree. Fundamental analysis is not useful with Bitcoin.

I wouldn't go that far.
Short term fundamental analysis is not useful with Bitcoin.
922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price skyrocketting!! $266 here we come!! on: May 23, 2013, 12:52:53 AM
Yeah this rocket is going to the moon baby! Look at it fly on super low volume!

Who needs volume, when we have "hope"?  Cheesy

Hmm... will we drop to $119 like the last time we touched $124.5?  Wink
924  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 22, 2013, 05:15:06 PM

Uh... I don't see the distributed marketplace. (As most here, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.)

You would still need to
1. Obtain some kind of IOU (DGC)
2. Trade it at a particular place. (OT server)

926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 06:35:11 AM
lets just call it BMOT.

Agreed. BMOT!

When you get it you think like "why the hell did I not think of it myself", it is so simple! Kudos to Bitmessage inventors!

I know why I didn't... reading about the stream stuff, there's no way I would have been able to code that!  Cheesy

BitMessage and Open Transactions are both amazing projects.

Now I'm running BitMessage to experience it, but I don't know to whom I can send a message.  Tongue

It's basically a decentralized, serverless, encrypted, private/anonymous P2P messaging system for everything.

If anyone wants to try to message me:

So unlike a RIpple IOU, a open transaction cash token can be backed up.

If this works, this is a huge deal.
930  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 22, 2013, 05:26:16 AM
Well... today nothing happened.

At all.

ot + bm

Awwww c'mon, can't you share your opinion on Open Transaction and Bitmessage with the rest of us?  Grin

Edit: I'm genuinely interested.

I see what you're saying, I'm never sure whether he's talking about kBTC or BTC half the time.  He also tends to write 1000mBTC instead of 1BTC.  As you say, who knows what he means anyway?  Still, nobody should even be having a single satoshi stolen and at least from my perspective if not his a hundred grand in euros is still a lot to have pinched.

I am sure the 100k was either mBTC or 100k euros, both approx 100 BTC. Still an annoying amount to lose...

Yeah... no.  Wink

Gentlemen, you can't fight here, this is the wall movement tracker hardcore.
935  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 22, 2013, 03:17:49 AM
I used Cavirtex. Abyssal volume and 3% fees.  Cheesy

Why was Internet Explorer the #1 browser for so long? Because they were better? Being bigger, being the market leader is a huge competitive advantage.

Explorer still plagues our lifes to this day because it always comes with Windows.
936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 03:11:19 AM
Ok, so the point of bitmessage is to be the network, while Open Transaction is the notary.

Correct?
937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 03:08:01 AM
Well sure, OT doesn't need them, there doesn't seem to be a "network" per se.
(You can't spam the network.)

---> As far as I understand. I'm still in my bitmessage/Open Transactions reading.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Holy Grail! I wish I could kiss the author of Bitmessage on his face. on: May 22, 2013, 03:02:21 AM
Sounds like a far superior alternative to Ripple. One that the community can get behind.

What's the important difference with Ripple?
It still seems to be IOUs.
939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 22, 2013, 02:40:38 AM
Who said it was simple? MtGox isn't #1 because of the quality of their site/engine. It's liquidity. It's a chicken/egg argument. There are plenty of market leaders who are poorly run. They remain market leaders for a number of reasons. You have this naive business paradigm that the biggest site is clearly the best, clearly well run, otherwise they wouldn't be number #1! Sadly in the real world, where real people live, that's not always true.

They are still there, while plenty of others were taken down by hacks, regulations, or plain arbitrary decisions from banks.
They are also located outside of USA. Which, in my book, is an advantage.

Does liquidity play in their favor? Sure.
However, I would argue that this is only a small advantage.

Another exchange, with the same characteristics as MtGox (except the liquidity), could probably
take a good chunk of the market by offering smaller fees.
940  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 22, 2013, 01:00:40 AM
Cool.  When is your exchange launching?

Oh right, unless you run an existing exchange, you can't possibility comment on how MtGox is run. Maybe those 7 people on the planet can chime in.

Are you 6 years old (and/or retarded)?

You can comment all you want.
Meanwhile, they are there and making money.

If things were this simple, they would have been out-competed years ago.
Or you have an incredible business opportunity.

So... when is your exchange launching?  Grin
