921  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is it possible to do Gamestop saga in crypto.? on: September 27, 2023, 04:06:41 AM
Yeah it’s possible, especially on any type of small or mid cap coins which have perp futures and are heavily shorted. It happened before on many occasions.

GameStop was different because it was mostly extra leverage which was created by the market makers that printed those call options which were bought by the wall street bet investors. When the price went higher and higher they had to hedge by buying the shares which was in limited supply. Hence why it shot up so fast and blew out a few big players.
922  Economy / Economics / Re: The Devaluation of fiat money is powered by Inflation on: September 27, 2023, 04:03:47 AM
There will always be inflation. However getting 10% inflation is not normal. It hurts many people living pay check to pay check and those that are savers.

Normally you should never hold cash in the bank. You need to have it in some form of investments such as stocks or even bonds. Right now you can get 5% with most bonds and it’s risk free pretty much. So with the inflation we got right now, you are pretty much breaking even.
923  Economy / Speculation / Re: Potential events that can initiate next bitcoin rally on: September 27, 2023, 04:00:24 AM
Most likely no etf approval this year. SEC for some reason already delayed 2 different etf applications which were scheduled to be reviewed in a couple of weeks. This is very unusual.

However with this in mind there is a chance it might get approved in Q1 2024. September is pretty much done and that leaves only 3 more months of the year. We all knew they were most likely going to get delayed anyways.
924  Economy / Economics / Re: Surge in Bankruptcy Filings And Economic Crisis Vs Recession Vs BTC Price on: September 26, 2023, 04:42:07 AM
Yeah it’s not looking good. Pretty soon the employment data will show this. Many of these are most likely due to the high interest environment.

People got into debt when it was cheap and when it started to rise, they felt the pain and couldn’t keep up. It’s going to be worse since it looks like there will be another hike before the end of the year. And it will get worse if layoffs start to happen.
925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MicroStrategy Bought More BTC on: September 26, 2023, 04:38:07 AM
It seems like he buys every 2 months or so. From what I read he has like $600m left to purchase more. Most likely he will be buying around $75M every month until he depletes all those funds.

It’s crazy to think that after all this buying, he is still at a loss. This is why you should never DCA large portions near the top. I think he was in profit for a few days only this year before it again went below his average.
926  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does bitcoin price increase after halving? on: September 26, 2023, 04:35:39 AM
Yes just because it increased in the past doesn’t mean it’s going to increase again. This is similar to Nov 2018 when everybody assumed Bitcoin would rally because usually November at the time was a bullish month but instead the complete opposite happened.

So with the halving it can be the same situation. It should rally but it doesn’t mean it always will.
927  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: please help me? on: September 26, 2023, 04:33:33 AM
Yes unfortunately the way it works with bitcoin is that once it’s sent it can’t be reversed once it’s confirmed. You can’t do a chargeback like you could with a bank.

What you need to do is get a hardware wallet and you also need to format your computer and reinstall everything because you got some virus and that’s how you lost your coins.
928  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy is also getting harder for private equity companies on: September 25, 2023, 05:32:27 AM
Yeah this is how everything is cross collaterized pretty much and unless a massive alt coin crypto crash which makes many cross margined accounts go bust, the same can happen in the real world.

I remember in 2008 it was impossible to get any loans what so ever. People bought luxury items like cars, boats, etc and they had to liquidate them to no buyers. Liquidity just disappears because credit disappeared. And with people over leveraged the way they are, it’s a call for disasters.
929  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTCUSDT P. Trading Fees on: September 25, 2023, 05:28:45 AM
Your fees are high because you are entering and exiting using market orders. Don’t do this. Only use market orders for a stop loss. Not to enter or exit a trade unless you are in a rush.

Limit orders are ones that appear on the order book and someone else uses a market order and fills your limit order. Basically you provide liquidity and that’s why your fees are lower.
930  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 1k - 100k Challenge ✅ on: September 25, 2023, 05:26:18 AM
These trading challenges where you start with like $1K and go to $100K, hardly work out. There are many over twitter and discord and usually the account goes bust.

If someone can actually 100x their account with some mid type of risk, they aren’t going to brag about it on the internet for clout. They will just do it themselves. So if you see these challenges, be warned, unless they get extremely lucky, most will just blow their accounts.
931  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is www.teslaxswap.com fake or real exchange? on: September 25, 2023, 05:23:28 AM
I am surprised the name of the site wasn’t a dead give a way. Seems people call Tesla anything and people will think it’s good.

These scams are always the same. They promise you a large amount of bitcoin or Ethereum but in return you need to send a small deposit. Most figure, it’s a small amount and do the transaction and get scammed.
932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Potential events that can initiate next bitcoin rally on: September 25, 2023, 04:52:58 AM
The FOMO will only come if bitcoin starts to rally and breaks the ATH. Right now most markets are weak. Sure the stock market indices look healthy but if you remove the top 10 companies on the Sp500 the actual gain is maybe 3-4% or so. Many companies are hitting 52 week lows.

We got bad inflation, rates might go up again one more time before year end, and we still got geopolitical issues to deal with. So with all this, I don’t see FOMO starting sometime next month or so.
933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: interesting article: Pay-to-use blockchains will never achieve mass adoption on: September 25, 2023, 04:46:09 AM
There is no blockchain out there that is totally free. Sure there are some L2 or coins like Doge where the transaction fees are fractions of a penny but none of them are ever free.

Miners need some incentive to mine these blocks and hence why there are fees in place when the block reward gets halved so much that the coinbase reward is almost zero.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using change addresses does not increase privacy, just fees on: September 24, 2023, 05:18:55 AM
Wasn’t the reason why it’s suggested to use Change addresses so if there is some bug in the hashing of the public key, your chances are higher of not being targeted.

Basically when you spend an output you show your pub key, if you never send your outputs then your public key is a secret. Since the public key is known there is slightly less security. Hence why it’s smart to use change addresses.

Is this correct?
935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the SEC approve BTC ETF in the coming 23 days? on: September 24, 2023, 05:07:31 AM
Most likely it will be delayed again. I read that blackrock already knows it’s going to be delayed at least till first quarter of next year. Then it will most likely be approved because by then any technical issues that SEC has with the physical etf should be solved.

I would actually be very surprised if it was approved next month. Keep in mind that if it gets approved it’ll be a while before it goes live. And when it goes live hopefully the launch won’t be the peak of the cycle like last time.
936  Economy / Economics / Re: The Kids buying Mcdonald order via BTC on: September 23, 2023, 04:42:41 AM
Yeah you guys been to a McDonald’s lately, it’s so expensive you are better off going to a restaurant pretty much. They used to have coupons but now they rarely do. Only deals were with this coupon books. Still not great but better.

BigMac meal here in Canada $12 or so. Some of the double big Macs and speciality burgers at $15. And at that point you can just go to a restaurant. I’ll cost the same but it will take longer.
937  Economy / Speculation / Re: Share your opinion on the market. on: September 23, 2023, 04:37:31 AM
The market is not going anywhere. You would think that by end of September it would have a trend at least but it’s just trading sideways.

Wonder if we will get another November 2018 event where we trade nowhere and then out of the blue we have a huge dump. Price action is very similar to those days when we were bouncing off the $6K support.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Bug or Fat Finger Reason for the Bitcoin’s 87% Drop in 2021 on: September 23, 2023, 04:34:39 AM
We all knew it was Alameda because CZ tweeted somewhere along the lines “someone who recently launched a new exchange, had a bug in there code”. And if you were around that time you would of known that Ftx was launched maybe a couple of weeks prior. So it’s nothing new and we knew it was Ftx or their market maker.

Didn’t think they sold tens of millions of dollars on that mistake. Probably the start to their skimming customer funds to pay for bad trades.
939  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Decline Due to debt ceiling concern on: September 22, 2023, 04:42:49 AM
I think you are confusing the debt ceiling with the interest rate hike odds. The debt ceiling was extended till end of this year or next year, it’s unlimited pretty much.

The interest rate was held but the issue is the dot plot they gave during the conference shows that interest rates will be high at least until end of 2024. There is also the chance of one more hike next month.
940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Repayment Deadline Increased for the MT Gox Exchange’s Creditors on: September 22, 2023, 04:38:14 AM
Wow didn’t think they would extend it that long, I assumed it would be a few more months not another year. This is why there is little hope for FTX creditors because after these lawyers all get paid we will all get Pennies on the dollars in about 10 years time.

They really need to speed up this process because the only winners in this scenario are pretty much just the lawyers. They extend it as long as possible to get the most money. It’s ridiculous.
