921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is going on? is everyone on vacation or something? on: July 28, 2014, 09:50:35 PM
Too many coins. Too many scams. Too many pump&dumps.

The end result:    People lose money and leave. Never to return. Less and less btc invested.

Personally, I just sit on my btc and a few altcoins waiting for better times. Does not pay to invest in a failing market.
922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: a lot of scam coins on: July 28, 2014, 09:41:38 PM
I agree. Lots of scam coins.

I don't buy them.

Warning.

qiwoman/qiwoman2 and Bitcoin_Mafia/Bitcoin_Mafia_me should not have funds in their care or safeguarding. Both have had accounts hacked here. Qiwoman has lost btc due to to hacking. BitcoinMafia lost coin in a joint business venture with qiwoman.

I am ** NOT ** saying they are thieves or dishonest. I think the lack of technical and security expertise is in question.

In today's altcoin world, one cannot be too careful.

1. V for vendetta
2. Fight Club

I considered V for Vendetta as one of the great movie I've seen.

I'm surprised too. Tremendous movie.
925  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Please do not trade on bittrex. Scammed too many times there. on: July 28, 2014, 06:26:55 PM
I agree Exchanges could take some responsibility for what they list. In the long run they are shooting themselves in the foot for allowing this shitcoin rampage. This is reflected by prices and volume in recent weeks. Big money has left the altcoin scene and exchanges are scrambling to maintain profits.

Buyers/investors need to take responsibility as well. You are screwing yourselves big time buying into the shitcoin pump&dump of the day.
Until people wise up, altcoin trading is going to remain in a downhill slump for some time.

926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★ DigiByte ★★ [DGB] ✈ DigiShield ✔ v2.9.1 ✔ Help us test the multi-algo update! on: July 28, 2014, 05:12:36 PM
Any team that sticks with their coin this long in this current environment is worth a lot of praise and patience (imho).

Regarding mass adoption, all a coin really needs is to leverage their brand/tech. for a specific valuable purpose or service, it becomes a vehicle for proper use and your coins (shares) become a valuable piece of that system. It's a pipe-dream for daytraders and used by BS artists with scam coins to make BTC, but it does and will continue to happen. Let BTC be mass adopted, but if you were to assume the ZETA case were real (another can of worms) then it is easy to see where particular technologies may very well end up in the years to come. DGB seem to be taking that path and have remained professional all year. They've proven they can dev. and adapt and have stuck with DGB through all the shit 2014 has thrown at altcoins.

Use it like the rest to yoink some BTC it's an unfortunate reality, but if they continue and find a place or service to slot their brand/coin into then you have a longer term winner. It seems they aren't going anywhere, and I'm sure they will continue to evolve until they are just right for their place on the board. You also can't underestimate the relationships they continue to solidify.

This isn't even me shilling. I won't lie much earlier in the year I wanted DGB out of the equation (they are a tough, stubborn and respected competition despite their market cap), but after so long of Jared and his team remaining polite and doing what they can in this environment I now watch and support DGB developments from the side.

TLDR: Multi-algo fork must be a tough gig and it's hard to agree upon which algos. I like DGB and good luck. Smiley

Its posts like Rofo's that give me hope good, solid coins will survive.

There are some great communities, teams, and developers working hard to survive this altcoin holocaust we are experiencing. It would be nice if people showed more consideration instead of panic when prices fall. Most coins have taken a big hit in recent months and DGB has weathered it well compared to many.

@Circonference

Well done and congratulations on your success.

As one of the original investors in Quebecoin, I am pleased you and your team were able to revive a worthwhile project.

"Better look for coins that have been prooven to stand the test of time and have somewhat a userbase."

Best advice ever.
929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I Need to Rave About All these Shitcoins on: July 10, 2014, 04:48:45 PM
Thanks for posting all your   * bags *.

Sorry, someone else would have said it.

Seriously, you are absolutely right for the most part although I may disagree on some of your coin choices.

Why not use your ' real ' id? Your post is not that inflammatory.
930  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The end of Mintpal - Which exchange will be the new leader? on: July 09, 2014, 03:14:08 PM
Last week they were mad at Poloniex.

Unhappy at Mintpal? Vircurex is looking for business.

Dedicated devs and community. Hopefully, investors take notice. Vertcoin deserves the spotlight.
932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Weekly SCAM ALERT - updated each monday via new posts on: July 08, 2014, 10:26:14 PM
Excellent thread platorin!

I have, mostly, quit trading because of the deluge of crap/scam/copy coins in recent weeks. The part that really hurts is; the good coins suffer for it. Look at prices. I've never saw so much red ink.
Investors and traders must be jumping ship by the dozens after losing their shirts on most everything. Could this be altcoin armmagedon?
933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - Beat ASIC | First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address | Largest P2Pool on: July 01, 2014, 03:08:38 PM
Vertcoin deserves mucho respect for delivering private transactions and doing it on time. No empty promises or disappointments with this crew. This is a professional coin; simply put.

Litecoin replacement? You bet. Vert has all the right stuff and more.
934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Silkcoin is going to steal people's money. on: June 28, 2014, 07:46:16 PM

first: I am not owning any Silkcoin and I am not part of it.
but i can understand why trolls are threatened and they maybe should also open their eyes.

imagine you put a lot of effort and money in creating a coin. Even if this is only a pump and dump coin, it would be also not a scam but legal and its still a lot of effort.
But imagine this coin is really your life. You hired a designer, that already made a few good logos, also if the coins themselves were not the burner, but you liked the design.

So you created that coin and try to make it shine and want to protect it.
Now comes a troll and tries to drag it down. What would you do?

If every developer ran away because of trolls we would not have any coins. Dumping coins and running away is pretty "low".
935  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst Movies You Have Ever Watched on: June 27, 2014, 05:44:25 AM
Watched "Sharknado" and "This is the End" recently. Really, really bad movies. I've had them taking up space for awhile and now I can delete them forever .... good riddance.
936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin | Scrypt N | Beat ASIC | Stealth Address | Vertlet for iOS on: June 25, 2014, 10:38:50 PM
Let's me summarize for you.

1. Scrypt-N ASIC, We have looking for another algorithm already. We have planed to implement it in GPU and CPU miner after we released Stealth Addresses.

2. Multiple PoW, In order to change to the new algorithm, it must be smooth transition as much as possible. We have planed to implement multiple PoW from Scrypt-N to the new algorithm. According to the plan, it will be Scrypt-N -> New Agorithm + Scrypt-N -> New Algorithm.

3. Multipool & Inflation, We still discussing the solutions with team members to find the best way to solve it, but it will do nothing until we released Stealth Address.

4. Stealth Address, It is in progressing.

Thanks,
bushido

This kind of news and communication from developers makes me confident in my VTC investment.

I refuse to put any money into the newer products.  I'm thinking of the recent Silkcoin debacle and who will be next.
937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Is NOT Dead (It Is Just Dying A Slow Death) on: June 23, 2014, 05:10:32 PM
Bitcoin is nowhere mass adoption by the general public, litecoin is positioned well should that happen. I hope it doesn't jump on the feature bandwagon doing tons of things badly rather than a few things well.

Meanwhile altcoiners living firmly in the 5th dimension have moved from Bitcoin, from litecoin to an ever growing fragmented list of new coins with zero chance of mass adoption, this altcoin section is the only driver for a constant parade of every more boring coins with more and more 'features that the world at large will never want or understand.

Litecoin could use more support but that support has been divided up into oblivion behind hundreds of coins largely created by a few devs who's only interest is making dollars.

Well said.
938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there an Anonymous coin right now? I don't mean promises, testing, or non-gui on: June 19, 2014, 06:03:45 AM
Thanks for the reply.

Pinkcoin is a surprise. You cannot judge a book by its cover apparently.
939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is there an Anonymous coin right now? I don't mean promises, testing, or non-gui on: June 18, 2014, 07:21:43 PM
It seems coins are arriving everyday advertising anonymity.

Some are promises. Some are in testing. Some are command line. Some are only for windows.

Is there a true anonymous coin now with gui for linux, mac, and windows?
940  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will girls ever like bitcoin? on: June 17, 2014, 05:36:50 AM
It is very simple mathematics.

1 btc = 600 usd X women love dollars = women love btc.
