I would like to remind everyone that when beta 0.5.0 IS released (which should be soon), the more you guys help test, the quicker we can get to actual launch. So please, everyone who wants launch to happen soon and without any issues, do everything you can to test the new beta as much as possible so that any possible bugs and glitches can be resolved for launch. Smiley

also it'll probably be THE BEST way to test multisig before launch.

And to understand the implications of it before you do it with actual NEM !!!
922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: February 01, 2015, 07:11:07 AM
haven't kept up with this whole thread (it's a lot).

any summary of the most important news, launch date discussed?

see the post a few comments up. screen shots of multisig =  0.5.0 beta release should be very soon = launch couldnt be far off now. Smiley

Launch would be awesome.  My only concern is the party for new alts is over.  Unfortunately, unless the coin is truly innovative or has a built-in use, it's bound to be just another coin in a sea of hundreds.

Until any crypto has some major adoption the party isn't over.

Any plan to prevent huge dumps after launch?

The higher number of socks that we weeded out should help with that. Other than that there is nothing anyone can do. There are going to be plenty of people that will dump - that's just how they operate.

Maybe check out the way archcoin does it and give holders extra privileges?

got a link for me ?

So I read the wp and I have 2 questions that I hope you can and will answer:

How will you ensure that a followee sends the same opinion to all it's followers ? The wp states that this is a property of the PBC but I can't seem to find an explanation of how that is achieved.

Also (this may be in the math which i didn't really look at much) the wp doesn't seem to say how consensus is actually reached. It only says that a node will form his opinion based on this own opinion and the opinions he get's from his followees but how exactly does that work ? What happens if a node receives different opinions ? Will it decide for the majority ? Is his own opinion more important the others' ?

Quoting cuz I'm really interested Smiley

We will launch when we are ready. The question is, will YOU be ready?  Wink

I'm definitely ready for POI, I really hope it's more than a sloppy add on to POS, it could be a serious breakthrough in crypto.

It's not a sloppy add on but it is an add-on. Of course only functionality-wise. No code from an existing POS implementation was used.

I don't think it's that we NEED him back, it's just that I wouldn't mind if he wanted to return. Forgiveness is an important trait to have in any community.
There is the need to have him back. And yeah, so let's be the first one to handle it. There won't be any problem with selling that^^ Smiley
I want us to build up a direction. Even more accurate than it is so far. And therefore, we'll need him. He'll be our odd number!

I'm with amy. There is no need.
929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 28, 2015, 10:09:24 AM
Just a conciliatory measure.

What would you guys think of asking utopianfuture/up to get back on the board with us?
With Telegram, Nem is already a kind of social, that's where I'm seeing us.
But there's definitely the need to bring some structure back, in our building. Up, was pretty good in that.
He's just a human like all of us and the human kind of living, just has it's mistakes. It's that simple.
I say, at least we should ask him, to be with us again. He's our odd number, no matter if he's a developer or not.
He will bring us back some structure, at least I say he should have the chance for that and I would be thankful, if he would take it.

I'm not against UP coming back but there is no lack of structure right now. It might not be as appearant but there is actually a well defined structure. Unless by structure you mean having 1 shot caller at the top - that's we don't have (and that makes for some process' being slower) but I'm not sure people want that.

Anyway, I'd be glad to have him back. He started this afterall and I'd actually be very interested in hearing what he thinks of the progress.

931  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cleanup: I'll attack some coins - I owned APEXcoin for 90 blocks on: January 27, 2015, 10:26:50 AM
Cool. The main problem I see that I spoke about earlier was how to get around Transparent Forging. Each forger/miner can predict who is due to forge the next block with high probability. You can see the predictions live from the real Nxt mainnet here:

http://188.138.33.10/
(red are accounts that missed their turn, blue are ones competing for Nxt block with a prediction for the time to next block)

If cynicSOB starts broadcasting blocks when it isn't his turn, the network with blacklist him/reject all his blocks. He will have to fool many nodes in the network to tell the remainder of the network that he is next for his blocks to be accepted. And it might only lead to a temporary fork, with the network reorging later on (upt to 720 blocks later) and orphaning all his blocks. Not a trivial problem to crack.

You can read more about the background to Transparent Forging here, if you are interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=364218

Is TF already running and working on the testnet ?

Any updates about Multisig?

Devs are working on it but ran into some performance problems. No ETA on next beta-release.

934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 25, 2015, 05:55:41 PM
Quick questions guys .... if you have your real NEM address and private key how do you get the public key?

Shazzy

you should have gotten it when you created real account data? i dont think you actually need it though if you have your private key and address. you can always just produce new data and send to the new account after launch if there isnt a way to get the private key

I didn't note it down like a dipsy but I do have the private key ... I wanted to verify if it was correct but the "verify" option requires public key hence I was thinking how do I get it...
I guess closer to the time we will get more info on how to import from private key?

Answered your pm but I'll answer it again for public awareness.
You can import the private key-right now. It will give you a different address though since we're still on the testnet. The only thing you can verify that way is that it is a valid priv-key but that doesn't really say much.
935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 25, 2015, 12:39:55 PM
Probably best to just wait a few weeks and buy NEM on an exchange  Cool

As a core developer you can't go around dropping hints like its like some fucking tease a cock day. I'll gonna take that as you saying the coin will be released within a few weeks, few meaning a small number more than 1, so I'm gunna say less than a month cause you don't call a couple of months a few weeks.

So you heard it here first a solid non tease statement within a month till release. Thats 25th February. Mark your calenders folks.

*Unless of course this is more dick waving by the developers. Which would be another fail.

Join the telegram group fuckingnem  Cool

Yeah, right now the telegram chat is a Qora free zone, but I'm sure we can make an exception.

I think Djinou94 is part of the Qora community.
936  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Obstacles to crypto adoption on: January 25, 2015, 09:07:32 AM
The people use what's most convenient for them. They don't care about the underlying technology or the problems that it brings with it (environmental, privacy...).
If it's convenient - "it just works" - and cheap to use then that's what they'll use.
"Normal" people don't care about decentralization. They don't care about the "idealistic" advantages of cryptos like taking the power over the money supply away from corrupt entities and.
And of course is also the crazy price fluctuation and constant bad press with indivudials sabotaging the crypto movement by robbing people.

In their current state there is imho no way in hell cryptos will be adopted.

The lunch was yesterday and the ipo lasted 24 hours, too bad bitcointalk forums went down soon after the announcement so many people missed it.

Well I had lunch anyway. What about launch though ? Tongue

Pretty sure I saw a thread from you saying the same thing ?

I'm pretty sure you know how to FUCKIN' READ...  so...  what's the true purpose of this post?   Undecided

Either go back and read what I'm ACTUALLY saying in my thread (HINT: I am the only one being excluded from CPS) OR come clean...  check the dates of posts once in a while too...   Roll Eyes

From what I read in that thread noone understood what the fuck you wanted. Who can blame them with how you wrote it and the styling of the text.
The purpose of this post was to find out if there is more evidence that he is a scammer because I was pretty sure he was on the NEM stakeholderlist.
939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NxtChg/Simcoin is a scam on: January 20, 2015, 08:55:53 AM
Every question, every post I've had concerning the IPO/Simcoin updates/anything, have been deleted by NxtChg(the "dev" of simcoin")

He had/has an IPO, took people's money, and never delivered any coins.

Simcoin is a scam, just like Stackcoin was.

Welcome to my Ignore List!   Grin

Pretty sure I saw a thread from you saying the same thing ?
940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption extended[Updates&Discussion] on: January 20, 2015, 08:37:41 AM
Why is it that recently NXTers come there to trash NEM ? Butthurt about the price decline ? Guess what, that's not NEMs fault.

I am commenting about seeing weird claims posted on this thread. We have absolutely no solid info how well Nem was traded on AE. The numbers can be easily fuged by fake trades.

What recent "price" decline? Nxt has been (up and down) around 6K satoshi for a whole year. It's BTC that has declined in prices, bring down the entire crypto with it (compared to fiat)

Weird claimes ? Those claims are fact, wether manipulated or not. What you're doing is spreading FUD (uncertainty, doubt).

Anyway...I'm gonna leave you to it now.
