What speeds should be achievable on WhirlpoolX with a 290x, 290, and 280x? Any reason for 32bit releases being faster than 64bit? Or am I misconfiguring something?

On the stock kernel you should be able to get 160-165MH on a 290 and around 145 on a 280X Smiley

What kind of config settings are you using for your 290? Or is it overclocked?  I get about 155 on my reference 290x, not overclocked.

Overclocked yes.

Settings:

xintensity : 4096
worksize": 256
engine:1100
memclock :1250
threads : 2

you can thank Zuikkis for those settings.

Here's a quick update on where we (think) we are on a few things.

As you know there are GPU miners out there. We are (and were) aware of them. We estimate that less than 10% of the network is from GPU mining and it's possible that it's even less than 5% of the network. We're in contact with most of the devs and we're monitoring the network as much as possible.

We haven't released our GPU code yet for a few reasons.
First our users are liking that they can mine with just a CPU. At the moment on my personal, year old, i5 I get a hashrate of 340kH/s. This means I'll get a block (on average) every 20 hours. To me personally this means the coin is not only CPU mineable still, but it's solo mineable still as well (considering pools do not yet give users the 5% PoK bonus). It may seem unfair to some people, but the few GPU miners out there are keeping it under control. It's no different than the people who are using their access at work to server machines or setting up Amazon AWS instances (both of which we also know are happening).

Related to that is the curve of coin distribution. Our coin is unique (at least I think, there are a lot of alts) in the way coins are distributed, in that early on very few coins are released per block. This means that if distribution isn't perfectly fair early in the coin's life, it's not the end of the world. It's more important that the software and the community is solid and it's better if there's is slow natural growth.

The other reason is that we want our coin to be as user friendly as possible. Ideally the user just clicks the mine button in their Qt wallet to GPU mine (possibly entering some pool info too), just like how they can CPU mine now.. Not releasing the GPU code gives us time to work on this more. However, we will simply make our github repos public if it comes to that.

Regarding our pool, we're still working on it. I'm hearing that it will be out in the next day or two. There are two other working pools now and solo is still viable for many users. We're excited about our pool, but we also want to make sure it's not THE pool to use. We don't want this to be a centralized coin (any more than it already is at this stage of its life).

Coin has just been released for a few days and you're already calling it a scam.

This is the first coin which i'm not skeptical about.

I strongly believe it has a bright future.

I've got a Pool set up:

https://ziftr.suprnova.cc

A CPU Miner and the instructions (read them!) is in the "Getting Started" Section - It currently has a little bug, hopefully someone with better C coding/debugging skills than me finds it, it's sending duplicates sometimes, not sure why. So after some "yay!!"'s you'll get a series of fast "boo"'s until a new block is announced... Its probably a minor thing and someone will point it out quickly so I can merge it to my github repo.

If you have any problems, contact me, I consider the pool beta now, lets see how it goes.

Congratulations to you sir!

You have made a lot of people very happy!

As soon as i've mined a decent amount i will definitely share!

That's all legit.. trust me. I'm surprised people are still mining with old .bin files.. :/

about this topic, posted it in his other thread he made too:

This is the second post you do about this..

Why is that?
You want people to download it, use it, get ripped off?

Btw, if a new sgminer version would come out, it would be presented in the official sgminer thread, and would also be available as source on github.

So you would be a dumbass to trust this..

Been mining since an hour after launch and still no block with around 300 kh/s.. Bad luck i guess  Embarrassed I think a pool would be great for the small hashrate that have little to no chance to find blocks in a reasonable time frame, lets make a true fair distribution where the little guys still have a chance to get at least a percentage of the reward.

I must be very lucky then.. i've found 4 blocks so far with 200Kh Smiley

Set up my miners to mine Whirlcoin. Working great i must say.

Getting around 130Mh/s on my 280x's and just over 100Mh/s on my 290's..
Although that this isn't very optimal yet, cards are freezing, i had to lower the fans to keep them hot..
So in other words, these can go at least double as fast..

Edit: Getting 150M/s on my 280's now and also 150 on my 290's Smiley

Oh yeah,
I can switch between algo's just fine.

I used Wolf his 64bit linux version (source).

Mmm.. it is indeed beginning to look like a scam...

Do not fall for transactions made by the alt accounts of this scammer.

let's bet.

if he pays in the next 1h you send me 0.1 BTC
if ne does not pay in the next 1h i send you 0.1 BTC
Let's see if he's as confident as he says he is, sounds like an easy .1 for you!

Keep in mind up to 3 confirmations are needed before payments are sent by the system to prevent double spends!

4 confirmations at the moment......

Download link to "sgminer-5.1-2014-12-20-win32.zip" ( https://www.nicehash.com/?p=software ) is 4.2.2-310-g8 985f-dirty version.
I found 5.1.0. version and it gives me better hash rate with your .bin, but the problem is that GPU load keeps dropping-rising Sad Can't get it stable on 100% load.
Any idea why and how to fix that?

I must make .conf file and run sgminer.exe, if I make .bat file it crashes  Huh

Above is on HD7850, on other PC with R9280X it keeps crashing, nothing works! not version 5.1.0 nor 4.2.2-310-g8 985f-dirty...oh just fuck me Sad

It wasn't enough I was mining until 3 days ago with 3,1mh/s with r9280x, now when I finaly found out about w0lfs .bin that gives you ~100% hash increase, cant get it started... oh god...

Don't push it to hard, those bins will increase your power usage. Maybe that is a factor to keep in mind.

Also, windows, not a big fan either.. been running on unix for ages and never had any issues..

And no it's not that difficult. There are distro's out there that to everything for you. (Pimp for example)

Any idea why sgminer keeps craching?
Not one version works Sad it closes in a second

I tried your download link and some other versions

Funny that version 5.1.0 works on another PC, but on other crushes..

Try girino's miner.

Can you pls post download link to windows version of the miner you're using ( https://ottrbutt.com/miner/x13localrigwolf-02132015.png )
"sgminer 5.1.0-dev" - can't find it anywhere Sad (wouldnt ask otherwise)
I found "sgminer 5.1.0" but crashes, I would like to try also -dev version...if that doesnt work I'll stick to girinos (with fee included).

thanks wolf0

I am getting a consistent 6.5MH/s at 1110 MHz. Any higher would result in crashing/dying too often.

http://i61.tinypic.com/2hzuagz.jpg

6.5MH/s net about ~0.0015 BTC/day @ ~$300/BTC (CAD) = ~$0.5.

i'm doing 7.3 on my 280X Smiley

http://i58.tinypic.com/2sb4a34.png

So it's possible to get them higher

WOW! thats crazy!
what miner are you using? can you share your config setup?

i get 6,35mh/s on 1120mhz, -I 18, -w 64

i think he is runnig it at 1200 or more clock, and mem probably very high too

Maybe, or maybe not  Wink

Oh, come off it. You leaked everything you had - your hash comes from the volt mod I did for you, plus high clocks.

Speaking of, might be time for me to work on SIMD,..

Me Personally, i didn't leak anything... you know that.. and yes, it's true, higher clocks ,1250/1650 to be correct.

But i wouldn't advice anyone to do that, however, doing that made it use less energy then before.

But life expectancy will probably, no definitely go down...

And another thing, the leakage of those bins did one thing.
It made people like and respect you A LOT more, because before that, most here didn't like you very much... And please don't say that that isn't true.

WOW! thats crazy!
what miner are you using? can you share your config setup?

i get 6,35mh/s on 1120mhz, -I 18, -w 64

Regular Sgminer-Dev version, config: g2, w64, xi128, 1250/1650, ptune20

Good luck!
