at the birthday there was no significant change to the market, the price of increasingly cost without reply price increases, what  is this  a sign of reduced interest NOTE coins ?

That is a reasonable question. Any answer will be speculative. What I can say is that our most committed supporters are invested for the long-term - 5 to 10 years. If the price remains the same as today in another two years - I will be worried. Meanwhile, we will continue to work diligently to do what is right in creating value for our long-term stakeholders.

Great write up..! that was an excellent read!  and i see how that is a very important step for US and US based crypto company's. I hope they can see it the same way!

Good morning, mrbum805. Trust you must be enjoying your morning coffee to be posting this early.

Glad that you like the write-up. Technology is always ahead of regulations. We are doing our best to help educate and encourage our regulators to do the right thing. This industry will be massive and disruptive. Early country adopters will have a lot to gain. I remained hopeful that the United States will be one of them with sensible regulations to protect consumers without being an overburden to startups and smaller companies.

That was a fantastic article Alan!

Whenever I have the time, I like to show my support (with a like) for anyone that posts a DCEBrief article on Twitter. This article is so popular, I couldn't get through all the tweets without pausing for a break! lol

A huge thank you to everyone that has supported DNotes, DCEBrief, CryptoMoms, and The Four Pillars of Business Success on social media!  Smiley

Thanks, Chase. I am glad that you like it. We certainly appreciate and encourage more help in our social media efforts.

Excellent work everyone, DNotes is stronger than ever and has done a good job flying under the radar while building the necessary infrastructure to bring a completed product to market.

It looks as though 2017 is the year Alan's vision and careful planning will become a reality, and DNotes will differentiate itself from the competition in a way nobody else can replicate. He has seen the process of innovation occur first hand, and has a far deeper understanding than anyone in our industry on how/why innovation happens, as well as how to deploy innovation from a business perspective. There are many hands working behind the scenes, DNotes has the hardest working and one of the most talented developers in the industry. No other cryptocurrency can come close to matching "star players" like these. I remember early in DNotes' history, people were trying to lecture Alan on how to create a cryptocurrency (they thought any deviation from their ideals was blasphemy), not knowing that he has 40 years of business experience and has been involved in the technology sector since before most of them were born. But he was polite enough to let them voice their opinion.

So here's to the kindest, most skilled, and hardest working cryptocurrency team, DNotes. Happy birthday.

Wow. Kind words, but there are many hands involved in this adventure we are on, including yours! Alan would not have taken on this challenge without the full support from the team at Smokeys Gardens, and our DNotes team could not have made the strides we made without the support of a much wider group, you and many others included. DNotes is the product of many people, from diverse backgrounds, coming together for the good of the world. I am proud to be associated with this fine group. Happy Birthday, DNotes!! Many more to come.

Smokey

And a very Happy 3rd Birthday to the entire team who work very hard to make this all happen. The efforts that are put in to educating others about cryptocurrency and the industry have been outstanding. Congrats and Happy Birthday!

Thank you, Smokey and GrandMama. We all share a clear vision with amazing commitments and exceptional team-work. This makes our hard work rewarding and even fun sometimes.

We've been planning and working together on a lot of interesting possibilities in the last six months, and some of those will soon be coming to fruition, all of it part of a wider plan being executed to become a global digital currency suitable for mainstream adoption.

Happy Birthday DNotes.

Great to see you. TeeGee and looking forward to working closely with you on various projects.

After spending many hours each day for 2 ½ years to help articulate a cohesive and meaningful message in building a trusted brand for DNotes, frankly, it has been helpfully not having to worry about keeping up with the forum over the last few months.

It has afforded our team serious time and focus on researching and designing DNotes 2.0 – a significant upgrade with a second currency and a migration to a hybrid PoW/PoS system. Our continued challenges are centered on simplicity, ease of use, maximum participation, and security.

In celebration of DNotes 3rd Birthday we are opening this forum, for a few days, as an opportunity to rehash what DNotes has accomplished. A press release has been issued to that effect. Looking forward to share more with you.
935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOTE]DNotes - KickStarter Launched!!! on: May 22, 2016, 05:49:01 PM
DNotes was founded with the conviction of being a purposeful trusted digital currency for everyone world to participate with no barrier even for the smallest savers. To accomplish that vision we have been working long and hard by taking a very different path.

It is a long story being told, as reflected in the previous post – “The DNotes Story” written by TeeGee with the support of others in our community. And it is recorded in Chapter 15 – The DNotes Story in my recently published book “Improve Your Odds – The Four Pillars of Business Success.” This book is now available in hardcover, paperback, and Kindle on Amazon and other retailers worldwide: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0692718877/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new
https://fourpillarsofbusinesssuccess.com/

The DNotes Bitcointalk Forum is where it all began and it has served us well. This is where we met you all and gained your support and confidence. Together we have done great work and created our own ecosystem, not just for ourselves but also as platform for others to participate, hopefully to share our success as well. I believe that we have accomplished our mission and it is time to move on.

As you can see in the DNotes Story our plate is getting very full and our time becoming harder to come by, and hence very precious, as we switch our focus on technology development. After some lengthy consideration we have decided to end this forum and move our discussion to CryptoMoms.

This move will put us in a better position to do much more to assist others in our industry. Although, it has yet to be decided we could one day re-brand “CryptoMoms to make the site a “DNotes Global Forum.” Join us and share your ideas. Thank you all for your continued support.

What has DNotes been doing differently?

1. Culture

In consideration of the fragmented, chaotic, and insular nature of our industry, where users often prefer anonymity that often resulted in aggressive online disagreements, DNotes began by creating a culture of mutual respect and cooperation. This resulted in a productive and rewarding community atmosphere that many characterized as “refreshing”. Every new member is promptly welcomed and all questions are respectfully answered. DNotes is respected as a mature community, and a currency with a purpose. This team-work made it possible for DNotes to establish the beginnings of its ecosystem system without outside funding. It is quite a remarkable accomplishment for anyone who knows what it takes.

2. A Trusted Brand

With a great sense of direction, coupled with a well defined mission, and a clear vision early, DNotes has built a trusted brand by being engaging, appreciative, and respectful. We highly value the support and confidence of our communities as well as that of our stakeholders and supporters. Our commitments have always been to follow through with all our stated plans and goals. We have built a proven track record of doing so. Trust is invaluable in financial services, which will account for a significant part of DNotes' future growth.

DNotes’ leadership has always been responsive, transparent, and trustworthy; committed to building a purposeful currency focusing on educating and benefiting the largest population possible. Outside of Bitcoin, DNotes is among the most publicized digital currencies in the industry.

3. Dedicated Long Term Commitment

The DNotes team and many of its stakeholders are long term investors. The vast majority of them are net buyers investing for the long term. Our goal is to make DNotes the first currency to fulfill money’s requirement as a store of value. Unfortunately, trading bots including a few likely operated by some exchanges [market operators] are making price stability nearly impossible to achieve in the short-term. That said, high volatilities are not a great concern until we start promoting DNotes as a medium of exchange. By then, we believe that other mechanisms will be in place to address the issue.

4. Women’s Full Participation - CryptoMoms

DNotes is committed to encourage and assist women’s participation in the digital currency space. According to Forbes magazine, women account for 70 to 80% of household spending and half the population. However, the female population today represents just one in ten of the industry participants. We created CryptoMoms as a community to help remedy this underwhelming participation. CryptoMoms has been well received, reaching more than 20,000 registered members in its first two years. A lot more will be done to assist female participation in the market and women’s small businesses using DNotes.

5. Saving for the Future – CRISP

”It is not how big the project is at launch, but how well positioned it is for global expansion at the appropriate time.” Alan often reminded us.

Our family of CRISPs for children, students, employees and retirees is designed to fulfill our mission to make DNotes’ ecosystem available for everyone worldwide to participate. We believe that disciplined long term savings, done on a regular basis, is a good thing for everyone. Our job is to provide for the convenience, safety, and long term appreciating value of DNotes. Consequently, DNotes is managed as a business, but not controlled as one. The CRISP plans have been launched as pilot programs for second stage development that can be scaled up quickly.

6. DNotesVault

DNotesVault is a significant accomplishment that is difficult for its competitors to replicate. It demonstrates the mantra of DNotes’ willingness to go the extra mile of “doing things that others will not do, so that one day it gains the advantage to do things that others can not do.” (Alan Yong)

DNotesVault is one of the major steps to positioning the digital currency as money. While it does not sell or trade DNotes, the vault is set up like a bank with comparable convenience and ease of use. It is easier to set up an account at the DNotesVault than it is to set up a bank account. DNotes can be conveniently sent to an email or a DNotes deposit address. Account holders also have the option of scheduled payments or “timed released” over a user defined period of time with specified amounts.

As the industry first, it also serves as the home of “CRISPs” a family of digital currency savings plans for children, students, employees, and others interested in saving for their retirement. Above all, the deposits are securely stored off-line and backed by 100% verifiable matching funds stored in other locations.

DNotesVault is a prime example of the incorporation of multiple viable solutions to overcome known problems typical of an emerging industry. We strongly believe that to gain mass acceptance of digital currency it must meet or exceed the full functions of money along with providing ease of use and secure storage solutions. It must also be conveniently available for everyone worldwide to participate, without barriers, for small savers. Above all, it must earn the privilege of a trusted brand.

7. DCEBrief

The latest addition to our ecosystem - DCEBrief was created in response to digital currencies biased and misunderstood reporting in mainstream media. The site provides objective and unbiased news on the latest developments in our industry with articles written by journalists who specialize in blockchain and digital currency. The target markets are busy executives, business owners, philanthropists, regulators, and other decision-makers to help them understand the digital currency environment. Due to the busy nature of the website's readership, all articles are packaged into “executive summary” format without fluff or filler.

8. A Book for Small Business Owners and Startups

Alan has always been very passionate about helping struggling small business owners having lent his business expertise to many entrepreneurs in the capacity as a small business consultant for more than a decade. As a community, we are often inspired with respect for his business experience and strong leadership as reflected in the management of DNotes. Consequently, we have often encouraged him to write a book one day.

This book is a key foundation block to our ecosystem. It will serve as a launching pad for funding upcoming projects and further development. Equally important is the opportunity for DNotes to connect with small business owners and their employees. I believe that this book will be of great inspiration and help to entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, I trust that this book will also help to promote our CRISP for Retirement and Employee Incentive Benefit programs which will greatly benefit business owners and their employees. Additionally, this chapter will help spread the word and recognition about DNotes, piquing the interest of potential stakeholders. We are proud to have assisted Alan in an editing capacity and in the writing of the DNotes story.

9. Integrated Private Company

Although DNotes is managed as a business, it is not controlled like one. Being a decentralized autonomous organization, the DNotes currency is owned by its entire group of stakeholders on an “at will” basis. Any stakeholder can change ownership at will without notice. We have taken this ownership structure one step further by owning up to a 25% stake of the equity in the privately held for-profit company, DNotes Global, Inc., incorporated in the State of Delaware, USA. By extension, all of DNotes stakeholders have an ownership stake in DNotes Global, Inc.

This company does not control the currency itself. However, among others plans, the company will help to develop and fund our growing ecosystem and projects that are going to be essential in taking DNotes to the next level; to become the dominant digital currency leading to mass global acceptance. Extending the company equity to currency holders is expected to provide significant fundamental and intrinsic value to the currency as the company expands.

Leaderless organizations can be a big hurdle to ongoing development. This has been witnessed in Bitcoin’s community in solving the issue concerning the maximum number of transactions its network can handle simultaneously. We see the potential of chaos and impotence as an inherent weakness of decentralized systems that forego leadership. This risk can be minimized with the presence of a group of developing stakeholders who have sufficient self-interest to help protect and promote the organization.

Digital currency and the blockchain are the best opportunity in a generation to invest in the future from the ground floor. The next several years will be pivotal to DNotes’ rise to preeminence in the financial technology industry. Upon release of this book, Alan and the team will switch into the next phase from planning to execution of technology development. The last two and a half years have been spent carefully analyzing market and consumer behavior, working on our value proposition, building critical infrastructures, and waiting to spring forward at the most opportune moment. We are confident that we will dominate the industry swiftly when we are ready. This book serves to throw the gauntlet in our self-imposed challenge.

Arnold H. Glasow probably said it best when he said “Success is simple. Do what’s right, the right way, at the right time.” DNotes is focused on exploiting its competitive advantages at the most opportune time.

Some industry experts feel that as far as blockchain technology goes, 'first mover' is a disadvantage.

Larry Tabb: ‘Blockchain Technology Has No First-Mover Advantage’

https://news.bitcoin.com/larry-tabb-blockchain-no-first-mover-advantage/

I agree with the author. I have been critical of the "wild goose chase" for some time. It is so typical of the "me too" mentality mentioned in my book. In more casual settings, like this forum, I would add that they are like mindless zombies - follow the wave to be slaughtered. This explains why over 60% of new business fail in the first 5 years.

We are positioning DNotes very differently. We have been focusing on building a solid foundation of our own ecosystem along with a trusted brand. We are committed on educating our industry with DCEBrief, DNotes Educational Guide, and The Four Pillars of Business Success book. We have also been putting great efforts to encourage and assist women to participate in the digital currency space.

Although, it appears that none of our efforts are reflected in the value of DNotes, we are here for the long term. We strongly believe that we are on the right tracks while waiting for the technologies to become more mature. I am not seeing much earlier mover advantages to jump in too early. Instead, I believe that there is a significant pioneer burden for the early participants.

[We can discuss Tabb over a beer in the garden.]

' . . . Although, it appears that none of our efforts are reflected in the value of DNotes . . . '

Early days! Literally. The last six months of Dnotes' charts have been solid; and it doesn't matter that that level is down on the earlier price. Ian and I have pretty much come to ignore the first half of a crypto's 'ALL' data because it comes from what is effectively the primordial ooze of the time line. It doesn't tell you much.

The CRISP thang, the cloud wallet, the 'outwards focus' . . . these are all things that will take time to mature. The tight buy-sell split situates NOTE well for 'currency function,' which most communities overlook. I urge all active stakeholders to (a) find and assist one small merchant to accept Dnotes, and (b) trade the living daylights out of NOTE (at whatever price it's at!), to give it volume (and to make yourselves a penny).

Mark

DNotes' price tends to remain quite stable with a narrow trading range for a long time. I trust that the next move will be on an up trend. We certainly can use a higher trading volume. Merchant accounts accepting DNotes may take a bit longer.

This is a worldwide problem and not just limited to great Britain. We also need to understand that when majority of the population are struggling to make ends meet even setting aside $10 per month is a tough thing to do, if that money is needed to buy bare minimum food for the family.

"As a nation, we prefer to spend now and worry about the future later, or otherwise rely on the apparently ever rising value of our houses as a nest egg for old age."

One third of cash is in the hands of five US tech firms, and three quarters of it is held overseas.

A third of cash is held by 5 U.S. companies

http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/markets/2016/05/20/third-cash-owned-5-us-companies/84640704/

Notice that all 5 are technology companies. With the exception of Alphabet (GOOGLE) the rest have been around for about 30 years at the emergency of personal computers. Alphabet has taken only one third of the time to catch up in terms of cash accumulation.

"Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL), Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Oracle (ORCL) are sitting on $504 billion, or 30%, of the $1.7 trillion in cash and cash equivalents held by U.S. non-financial companies in 2015"

I wonder what the inflation in the US will look like if* it is ever sent back and spent in the USA?

It's hard to speculate without knowing the conditions that are considered sufficiently favorable to attract some of the cash currently stashed overseas to come back to US. However, with the right incentives, it could certainly create a lot of new jobs.

Preparing for What’s Next

May 20, 20167,636 views445 Likes31 CommentsShare on LinkedInShare on FacebookShare on Twitter

Written by
Jeff Immel, CEO GE

On May 20th, I delivered the keynote at New York University’s Stern Business School convocation. Here are excerpts from my message to the graduates.

We’re in a volatile, global economy – the most uncertain I have ever seen. There is distrust of institutions. Protectionism is rising. Globalization is being attacked as never before. For those looking to succeed, the playbook from the past just won’t cut it. It’s time to pivot, be bold, and not fear criticism.

I built my career at GE in a time when productivity, innovation and globalization were the way to win. When I joined the company in 1982, 80 percent of our revenue came from the U.S. Now, 70 percent of our revenue will be global. We have customers in more than 180 countries. We export over $20 billion worth of goods to the world each year. We have become woven into the global economy.

You would think that companies like GE that give people good jobs, make good products, and contribute to their communities would be valued. That governments would try to nurture growth and address big problems like income inequality and unemployment. That global integration would be seen as a force of good and would continue to grow.

You would be wrong. Today, big companies are distrusted; governments and global institutions are failing to address the world’s challenges; and globalization is being attacked as never before.

This is not just true for the U.S., but everywhere. These sentiments have traction in Europe and Latin America, on both the right and the left. The future of the EU is an open question. Protectionist barriers are rising in Asia and Africa. China is repositioning its economy to be more sustainable and inclusive.

The global economy is growing too slowly, and many people feel left behind. Some workers have been displaced by outsourcing, the middle class has been squeezed, and income inequality has risen to unacceptable levels. As technology and globalization race forward, people understandably fear their impact on jobs and incomes, and distrust the motives of companies and government.

There are many causes, and business bears some blame. Productivity has slowed to a crawl and capital investment is declining. Financing is more difficult to get, particularly for infrastructure projects. Investment is required for productivity, which in turn, supports higher wages.

Part of the fault also lies with technology. Innovation has driven growth but also leads to greater instability. The internet can connect people, but doesn’t necessarily give them jobs. Technology has raised the competitive requirements for companies and people. This exacerbates economic insecurity.

Finally, Government is also responsible. In the U.S., regulation has expanded while infrastructure has lagged. Our trade deals are languishing in Congress, and we remain the only developed country in the world without a functioning Export Bank. Our tax code is 30 years old; our immigration system is broken; and a huge structural deficit clouds the future. In the face of this headwind, we are having a raucous Presidential election where every candidate is a protectionist, and globalization is being blamed for unemployment and wage inequality.

Globalization is still essential to growth. But, the globalization I knew, based on trade and global integration, is changing, which is why it’s time for a bold pivot. And in the face of a protectionist global environment, flexible thinking is required, and companies must navigate the world on their own. We must level the playing field, without government engagement. This requires dramatic transformation. This is how we will lead:

We will localize. In the future, sustainable growth will require a local capability inside a global footprint. At GE, we will always be a strong American manufacturer, but we also have built factories in China, India, South Africa, Nigeria, Hungary and elsewhere around the world. We are managing extended supply chains. We are not pursuing low wages; we are using a manufacturing strategy to open markets. We will produce for the U.S. in the U.S, but our exports may decline. At the same time, we will localize production in big, end-use markets like Saudi Arabia.

Our competitive advantage is digital productivity. When we digitize power plants and hospitals by connecting them to the Industrial Internet, we improve global productivity. In Pakistan, we are using analytics to improve energy efficiency and expanding capacity. In India, we can use the internet to deliver healthcare to remote regions. In China, engine analytics are improving airline productivity. Every industrial company must also be a digital leader. This is the next wave of competitiveness.

We accelerate growth by solving local problems. We can make the world work better when we innovate to solve problems with local capability. Our GE technologists around the world have come up with new ways to produce cleaner energy that’s more accessible and to give remote communities access to healthcare. Solutions from the developing world improve outcomes in developed markets.

Financing is the new oxygen of global growth. Capital is the fuel for globalization of the future. We have positioned GE to capitalize on investment flows from new sources. China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative is building new relationships in Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Most countries are increasing their export financing. We’ve learned how to invest in these countries, access those pools of capital to support export growth. This is critical as we cannot count on the U.S. EXIM Bank. Companies need to globalize on their own and control our destiny.

Winning requires simpler organizations. Change requires new business models that are leaner, faster, more decentralized. Complex and centralized bureaucracies are obsolete. GE is pushing capability to local teams who are empowered to take risks without second guessing.

We tend to think of globalization as a philosophy, but it is much more about what you do on the ground. Success requires hundreds of little things, and decisions made with a local context. A good global leader has an appreciation for how people do their work in a local culture. They try to make a teams’ work meaningful to their country. This allows us to hire the best talent in every country where we compete.

By taking these bold actions – by pivoting – I am confident we can continue to grow. One thing I know about globalization is that there will always be plenty of critics. Early in my career, I worried way too much about what people thought. Over time I realized that progress counts for more than perfection and that anything worthwhile takes persistence and resilience.

My shield consists of competency, hard work and fairness. I run a meritocracy with the highest standards. Discrimination has no place in business – in the U.S. or anywhere else in the world. Similarly, our factory teams know that, while we cannot guarantee markets, we can guarantee effort; we always play to win.

So be flexible, be bold, don’t fear criticism. We are going through a transformational change in globalization, which will require fresh, new thinking. Our goal is to build an economic ecosystem that is the most competitive in the world. To create great jobs through private enterprise and ingenuity. To give back competency and innovation directed at solving the world’s toughest problems. There is nothing elitist, or establishment, about this task. Only by being in the arena can you create work for others.

The discord we see in the U.S. today is primarily due to slow growth and the wealth discrepancy it creates. This problem will not be solved by any bureaucracy. It requires leaders who see the world as it is and are willing to drive change.
