929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Navajo [NAV]- The Unbreakable Code [PoS/Anonymity/Privacy] on: August 13, 2014, 08:48:41 PM
well i think nobody dares to buy till they see proove of anon. there have been to many delays and also a lot of scam stuff happened at other coins...so people have to see first before they trust

if anon gets launched we will see trading activities at normal levels again

I hate to burst the bubble because the new client is staking a lot better, but has anyone actually bothered to look at the github repo?

https://github.com/sherlockcoin/navajocoin/commits/master

In this new update which took 23 days since the last update, functionality wise, the dev has only changed 4 "if statements" and added a few more CheckBlocks.

All the other changes are just find and replaces of version numbers and the likes.

If writing 4 lines of code took 23 days, it will be the year 2145 before Anon is released.

This is not FUD, but facts.

My opinion is to get rid of your Nav while they're still above 100sats. Anon will never come, always told to wait.

PS. mod, don't delete my post. Defend your position if what I say is untrue, deleting my post only adds to my suspicion.

as the other guy said, he was in hospital so he didnt work 23 days on it!

secondly if you are into coding then you understand that most errors are created due to one missing or extra symbol. so changing one single letter can fix a problem completely.

they key is finding where the problem is, most of the times that takes the longest time.

You do have a point. But again, there was an article regarding the new CEO of paypal leaning towards the use of bitcoin.

Technically, you are selling "vouchers," which complies with paypal "online giftcards" rule.

There are a lot of grey areas with the use of paypal. How bout confirming with other coins that are currently using it atm?

yes, in time they will probably accept it as they will have no choice if bitcoin gets bigger. if bitcoin will be huge then paypal will become obsolete. that is why they always leave the option to adopt it, but this can take years.

but dont forget that xxxcoin targeting adult business. this places another big "avoid" stamp onto it for payment providers.

and if you sell the vouchers then you are responsible for all places where you can use those vouchers. basically every place who accept those vouchers will be your merchants. and paypal will force you to add some kind of terms of use for your merchants. so if one of those merchants sells forbidden stuff they breach your rules.

thats why you can not use ebay giftcards for those kind of stuff. and yes it works in the grey area...but once the first dispute comes in you will be fucked. and trust me with paypal you get a lot of disputes!

you have a lot of similar constructions who have all been tried in the past. for example porn sites asked their customers to become a member of site x and as a bonus they would get free access to illegal site x.

or they say, buy this painting and you can exchange that painting into a premium membership.

or donate on this crowdfunding project and get free access to x in return...and so on.

the  payment providers will all see this as a breach of contract.

regarding gift cards, coupons, vouchers and so on; its less risky but again just a matter of time before they shut you down.

its forbidden to use paypal (and any other payment method) as an indirect way to pay for things they do not allow!

so using it for coupons is ok but if you use these coupons for stuff they dont allow they close down your account immediately.

it probably works fine untill there is a dispute. then they will check you site and you are fucked.

trust me when i say that the porn industry has already tried these kinds of tricks.

I guess saffron hasn't updated their pages.  It clearly is not listed as completed on the official page.

More concerns to think about, can't just jump in to it.

Chargebacks for one.  Say someone buys 5,000 xxx coins for $50, we send them.  Then a day later, charge back.  Can you dispute that and get your money back from the buyer?

Then there's coding and API's, I've built Paypal apps before, it would take some time.

It's a lot to investigate, but I will after the weekend.

Hi mojpoj,

You can buy reddcoin and dogecoin and pay via paypal as well. www.wesellredd.com and weselldoges.com. If you didn't have the time maybe they would be willing to do a site for xxxcoin, but if you did it there might be some additional revenue for XxXcoin. I know you are already doing a ton of work so just some info. Also your on work on the camsite has been great!

Have a Good Day!

Looking briefly at this tonight.

How do they get around Paypal's Acceptable Use Policy?  (Section 3 - h)

And this post too.

I think it would be like treading on thin ice, always worried about my paypal account being locked down and money frozen.

If someone can give me a clear and acceptable way to change paypal payments into XxX coin, I can code a trading platform for it.

Otherwise, I guess we would have to look to credit card companies or banks that would be willing to process the transactions.

- You can forget about paypal for now as they just dont allow it. you can try but when they find out (and they find out fast if money starts coming in) your account will be blocked for at least a year!

- You can probably forget about creditcard as well. If you are lucky you can find one who allows you to do this with 3d secure, but if you find one you probably end up with a 10%+ fee per transaction + a rolling reserve of 10%+.

Above options are only possible for the short term, so till you get caught and your money is lost and/or frozen.

Paypal is busy with accepting certain adult sites, like porn.com now, but they ask for a 10% fee per transaction (for merchants).

Just look at bitcoin, there isnt a single site in the worl who accepts creditcards or paypal, at least no 100% legal sites! And the ones that do accept ask for giant fees to cover chargebacks and stuff like that.

You can better focuss on alternative payment option like ideal, sofort, european direct debit and stuff like that. Only downside of that is that those payment options can already be used directly on porn sites, but it will be something...

and maybe pay by phone is a good option as well to start with although most psp's dont accept cryptos as well.

We are currently informing the exchanges about the new wallet. Please wait with making transactions between new wallet and exchange until they will confirm that they updated their wallet versions on their exchanges.
Cheers! Wink

Hi,

This is the first time for me that im using a nav wallet. Can someone please explain the following things to me:

- Unconfirmed coins: are those coins used for staking? And if yes when to the go over to "spendable" ?
- encrypted wallet: currently my wallet is not encrypted. this is not really needed right as i just use it on my own pc only.

in settings i set the transaction fee to 0.01, is that advisable or not really needed?

cheers

Robin

1) No, Unconfirmed are coins already sended to wallet not confirmet transaction by nethwork. They not staking. Maybe you need wait to finish synchro if you use new wallet.
2) make any pasword harder is better dont matter who used your comuper.  When you "unlock" wallet coins start staking.

thanks for the explanation!

It sounds like you are pretty new to all this so I just wanted to stress to you the IMPORTANCE of both backing up all of your wallets AND encrypting them as well!!  Encrypting them simply means setting a password on the wallet.  I would also suggest you use a different random 15 character password  for every wallet you setup.  Make sure of course to keep your passwords in a safe place and not on your computer, unless you use a password manager like Last Pass or something.  This is what I use for all my sensitive data, I have paid version which is really cheap but you can also use the free version.

Backing up your wallet - your wallet is a file called "wallet.dat" and is usually located in your c:/users/pcname/appdata/roaming/coinname folder.  I keep 2 copies of this file on no less than 3 USB flash drives.  Do not copy the file while the wallet is open, close wallet first and wait about 1 minute before you copy, else you could wind up with a corrupted wallet file for your backup!

It is crucial you do this to avoid learning the hard way why it is so important to encrypt and backup your wallets by losing your coins!!  Just the other day a coin was released with an intended virus in the coin's wallet that stole people's various wallet.dat files from their PCs.  Those that had their wallets encrypted lost nothing as the scammer could not access their coins, even though they had their wallets!  This is why an unencrypted wallet is NOT safe on your PC.  Make sure to keep your passwords safe, possibly 2 copies like I do now......I did lose some small amount of coins before due to lost password......this is the bad thing about having to password protect all your stuff, if you lose your password.......you lose your coins!!

Again many thanks! Indeed im new regarding wallets. I normally just leave the coins on bittrex.

I just setup the nav wallet and added a highly secure pass which i printed on paper and stored in my vault. Im now going to do the backup, thanks for pointing the importance for that!

edit: the wallet was in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\SummerCoinV2 (so that is the correct one right?)

and i could also just created the backup while client was open through the integrated backup button, but i shouldnt do this as you said it might save a corrupted file?
