921  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Spiderchains on: September 27, 2023, 11:37:20 AM
I don't like the idea of having a peg, because that tends to imply "here are two different coins you can trade separately" which is usually the case for other pegs.
It is true that it is not a 1:1 connection and is not dependent on a third party (BitGo) as in the case of pegged tokens, but any Orchestrator will receive a slashing reward as long as this equation is adhered to:

BTC secured< ((4n^2)*s)/9 where n = number of signers and s = stake size per orchestrator

With this equation, we can say that if there were 5 signatories, each staking 5 BTC, then the maximum “safe” amount of Bitcoin in the multi-signature would be ~56 BTC, which is not good since their total Bitcoin is 25 BTC.

But if there are 30 signers each staking 30 BTC, you will find that the “safe” amount is ~12,500 BTC while the currencies being bet with are 900 BTC.

So the more Orchestrator nodes there are, the smaller the probability of having a large number of malicious Orchestrators in the same multisig.
But the question is what would anyone pay to run an Orchestrator node as income can only be earned from transaction fees which are supposed to be cheaper than on-chain fees.

This is a good explanation https://blog.lopp.net/an-introduction-to-spiderchain/, including the equation above

922  Economy / Economics / Re: Chase Bank New Policy On Crypto - Users Beware !!! on: September 27, 2023, 10:28:33 AM
Do you expect a financial and banking services company to encourage investment in Bitcoin? They will not do so, and if they notice that there is a high demand from customers, they will create an investment portfolio related to Bitcoin, and they must have the appropriate motive, which is to protect customers’ money from scammers. this investment portfolio will be centralized and you will not be allowed to withdraw funds.

I began to be optimistic about the price, as this news always appears at the end of the downward curve, and in how many months such news will disappear, to be replaced by real positive news and exaggerated positive news (as confirmation of the end of the upward curve).

923  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Spiderchains on: September 27, 2023, 10:16:35 AM
I still have not seen how 2-way peg will be decentralized, as the network still needs a completely central intermediary in the first stage, and even if it is developed, it will be a distributed network of orchestrators with a limited number (the number cannot be greatly increased due to the volume of multiple signatures). It is closer because It will be decentralized and distributed. It is true that it will be much better than alternative currencies, but pegged 1:1 with BTC with blocks being mined every 12 seconds will create a finality problem.

The real challenge is their success in attracting a large number of Orchestrator nodes running. If this happens, then this may change, as spiderchains  are compatible with EVM, and it may mean attracting more projects.

How about this website?
Some of these sites are either closed, such as https://www.acceptedhere.io/, or are in maintenance, or need to update the list, but I think what @OP is looking for are services that design or print Bitcoin-related things, such as T-shirts, clothes, pens, books, artwork, and other accessories that you can find under the links to stores of YouTube channels.

926  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet RBF Feature on: September 27, 2023, 09:16:32 AM
One block you get 26Sat/vbyte fee and the very next block is mined at only 7 Sat/Vbyte and this has been happening all day today. Don't know any special reason for this  Huh
these three blocks are

  • Block 809446 Timestamp ‎2023-09-26 17:24 Median fee ~11 sat/vB
  • Block 809447 Timestamp ‎2023-09-26 17:27 Median fee ~7 sat/vB
  • Block 809448 Timestamp ‎2023-09-26 17:42 Median fee ~26 sat/vB

Mining block 809447 took 3 minutes after 809446, which contained 2994 transactions. mining pool will not risk waiting for new transactions to come with higher fees, will broadcasting the mined block and earning 6.25 BTC instead of waiting for high fees that may be less than 0.5 BTC.
While block 809448 was mined with enough time for there to be many transactions with higher fees.

In fact, if two blocks were mined with a small time difference, many transactions may not be included in the new one because  block reward is higher than fees and this has happened many times
927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some information on Bitcoin on: September 27, 2023, 07:47:08 AM
Among the many countries that support Bitcoin are: the United States, Canada, Australia, and many European countries.Finland, Iceland, Spain, United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany, Japan, Denmark And some of the countries that don't support Bitcoin are: Bangladesh, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco. At the age of 2023, this number of people who have not yet supported Bitcoin has been given to Bitcoin.
This is your personal opinion, but at the national level, supporting Bitcoin as a legal tender will not be positive for countries, as countries are trying to centralize their economy and control all the money, but adding Bitcoin to the reserve and using it in international trade will have greater economic feasibility and imposing taxes on transactions and activities related to Bitcoin.

For individuals, purchasing Bitcoin may lead to a change in financial conditions if Hodling it in the long term, especially in developing and poor countries.
928  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Notable apps that can accept BTC for premium subscription packages. on: September 25, 2023, 04:15:24 AM

Take a look at Where to spend Bitcoin? by Ratimov to know where you can use crypto for getting services and many other stuff.
it's a great list, but some of it may need updating as services are encouraged to accept Bitcoin and when they don't find enough support they stop, so buying gift cards is the most stable solution.
This is a list of services that sell gift cards that enable you to buy almost anything with Bitcoin https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5208530.0

When was the bitcoin white paper first published on bitcoin dot org ?
Was it published elsewhere also?
Do you mean before 2008, or the sites host it after that, or now?

After this message and in February 2009 the first talking about it in the P2P Foundation forum by Satoshi with a post titled “I’ve developed a new open source P2P e-cash system called Bitcoin.” I remember that the name was discussed in emails between him and Sirius, a.k.a. Martti Malmi
930  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 25, 2023, 03:23:47 AM
It is true that there is complaining or that the prices of products have begun to rise, but the nature of the people and individual actions will determine the degree of your tolerance. We have a prevailing culture in society of the importance of saving, so you will rarely find a person whose income = expenditure, but we save, and saving over the past years has made the impact of the shock much less than in many cases. Among the countries in which the citizen benefits from debts to provide luxury, the interest on these debts began to rise, and thus the money available to many became less.
Spending priorities may vary depending on the country, but the more skills you develop and start saving early, the less the impact of these crises will be.

Remember this link if private equity companies start laying off their employees, or start collapsing on their own weight, https://www.ft.com/content/be9e095f-71b8-402f-a404-1172d6df1fb7
The link you provided is paid. Can you quote a free copy of it or clarify the points contained in it?

Companies do not only borrow to strengthen their assets, but rather buy part of their stock to maintain the strength of the company. Part of the expenses of these companies goes to advertising, buying shares, and enhancing profits, which brings more money to expand the worker base, but they are the first to be fired if a problem happen and the last to be added if gains are achieved.
932  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 12500€ loan on: September 25, 2023, 02:58:09 AM
Is there any scam reported to someone who provided a loan to newbies without any collateral, just like these accounts do? Their insistence on creating these posts is a waste of time, but why?
If someone had succeeded in believing this scam, or if there had been a percentage of even 1%, it would have been more believable.

He isn't going to mortgage his home he isn't going to use it for collateral. First post newbies asking for loans isn't new. They won't get it but it didn't stop them asking. I've seen a newbies asking for more.
933  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building my own HODL service for lazy friends/family on: September 25, 2023, 02:24:29 AM

I remember what yogg do on this community and we don't want another incident like that will happen again.
Not only that, but it is blind trust, if you are scammed, then trying to recover the money will be a headache, not to mention that there is no escrow for the money like banks doing, and there are other better decentralized and reduce risks options, there is no need to trust a third party.

If you get your money back, you have missed a missed opportunity, as you will mostly get your money back in dollars instead of investing it now in Bitcoin, and its value will be less.
934  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin merch recommendations on: September 25, 2023, 02:18:38 AM
I know it’s not highly recommended to advertise yourself as a HODLer but I’m interested in getting a cool BTC flat rim. Does anyone have any recommendations on merch stores that are highly reputable/support the ecosystem as well? Thanks!
I see a lot of crypto channels on YouTube that have their own designs and put links to those stores, so I'm not sure if they are as good as they say they are, but I can say that https://bitcoinmerch.com and https://btcmerchshop.com are the best, but it is still an option to use them. Paying for traditional services using cards charged with Bitcoin is an option.

Being a HODLer does not mean that you will not spend money, but you will spend it wisely. Bitcoin should be used to buy some things.
935  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 12500€ loan on: September 22, 2023, 03:02:18 AM
How will this happen? It is difficult to conclude a guarantee for your home with a person who is thousands of kilometers away from you and cannot verify your data. Try to mortgage your home or tell a friend or the bank about it, but it is difficult to obtain such a loan here.
It's your first post and no one will take it seriously.
936  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building my own HODL service for lazy friends/family on: September 22, 2023, 02:53:32 AM
The idea is contradictory to Bitcoin and be your own bank, as they trust you as if they were the bank's customers. The only difference is that the bank guarantees the money if it is stolen, and there are institutions that compensate customers' deposits up to a certain amount. Are you ready to guarantee their currencies and how will you do that if you make a mistake and it is stolen?
If they are not prepared to keep their private keys, Bitcoin may not be an ideal idea for them, or if they want to think of Bitcoin as an investment, they should wait until banks in your country offer deposits in Bitcoin.

There are services that provide encryption for wallet seed (Ledger Recover) so that the encryption is split between several trusted people, and it may be an option for those who do not have a safe place to store seeds, but again, do not trust anyone to store your coins.
937  Other / Meta / Re: question on: September 22, 2023, 02:21:15 AM
is it ok to advertise link to faucets or other platforms to earn some satoshi ?
If these faucets are good and pay users, you can make a list, continue to update it and put links to those faucets, but the problem is with the referral links. You can put them in your signature when you reach the appropriate rank, or at least put a link and ask the users to PM you to get the referral link in private if they want to support you, but you couldn't make it public.
938  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 22, 2023, 02:03:33 AM
But if you have a BIP39 seed phrase and change any of the letters to an upper-case letter, you will see a message saying "BIP39 (unknown wordlist)" and you will get completely different addresses.

OP generated his/her seed phrase on another wallet and it was BIP39.
But why isn't the principle the same as the seed phrase which is rechecked using the BIP 39 dictionary list, if the phrase exists it will give you guesses for the word, otherwise you will get an unknown wordlist error message? Huh
939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 21, 2023, 10:10:36 AM
I completely agree with you, do not release the guarantee unless everything is settled on both sides or at least rely on reliable people who have a good track record in resolving problems as these people are more understanding of delays in the time of arrival of payments than beginners who are usually in a hurry and try to put pressure. You need the support team to complete the transaction quickly, and this is something that scammers may do.
940  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 21, 2023, 10:04:07 AM
Thank you everyone......  It appears I have solved the problem.

Error was me writing down the words from Hodl and capitalizing them.  Entering them in lower-case worked.

Huh It is the first time that I know that electrum seed is case sensitive. I used to think that when you enter any seed word, it will be rechecked using the BIP 39 dictionary list. Therefore, you can always choose the correct word when you click on suggestions and you will not find new suggestions if the previous word you entered dis-matches the words of BIP 39. This is the way you know that you entered the wrong word.
