921  Economy / Economics / Re: The economy is also getting harder for private equity companies on: September 25, 2023, 03:08:19 AM
Remember this link if private equity companies start laying off their employees, or start collapsing on their own weight, https://www.ft.com/content/be9e095f-71b8-402f-a404-1172d6df1fb7
The link you provided is paid. Can you quote a free copy of it or clarify the points contained in it?

Companies do not only borrow to strengthen their assets, but rather buy part of their stock to maintain the strength of the company. Part of the expenses of these companies goes to advertising, buying shares, and enhancing profits, which brings more money to expand the worker base, but they are the first to be fired if a problem happen and the last to be added if gains are achieved.
922  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 12500€ loan on: September 25, 2023, 02:58:09 AM
Is there any scam reported to someone who provided a loan to newbies without any collateral, just like these accounts do? Their insistence on creating these posts is a waste of time, but why?
If someone had succeeded in believing this scam, or if there had been a percentage of even 1%, it would have been more believable.

He isn't going to mortgage his home he isn't going to use it for collateral. First post newbies asking for loans isn't new. They won't get it but it didn't stop them asking. I've seen a newbies asking for more.
923  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building my own HODL service for lazy friends/family on: September 25, 2023, 02:24:29 AM

I remember what yogg do on this community and we don't want another incident like that will happen again.
Not only that, but it is blind trust, if you are scammed, then trying to recover the money will be a headache, not to mention that there is no escrow for the money like banks doing, and there are other better decentralized and reduce risks options, there is no need to trust a third party.

If you get your money back, you have missed a missed opportunity, as you will mostly get your money back in dollars instead of investing it now in Bitcoin, and its value will be less.
924  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin merch recommendations on: September 25, 2023, 02:18:38 AM
I know it’s not highly recommended to advertise yourself as a HODLer but I’m interested in getting a cool BTC flat rim. Does anyone have any recommendations on merch stores that are highly reputable/support the ecosystem as well? Thanks!
I see a lot of crypto channels on YouTube that have their own designs and put links to those stores, so I'm not sure if they are as good as they say they are, but I can say that https://bitcoinmerch.com and https://btcmerchshop.com are the best, but it is still an option to use them. Paying for traditional services using cards charged with Bitcoin is an option.

Being a HODLer does not mean that you will not spend money, but you will spend it wisely. Bitcoin should be used to buy some things.
925  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 12500€ loan on: September 22, 2023, 03:02:18 AM
How will this happen? It is difficult to conclude a guarantee for your home with a person who is thousands of kilometers away from you and cannot verify your data. Try to mortgage your home or tell a friend or the bank about it, but it is difficult to obtain such a loan here.
It's your first post and no one will take it seriously.
926  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building my own HODL service for lazy friends/family on: September 22, 2023, 02:53:32 AM
The idea is contradictory to Bitcoin and be your own bank, as they trust you as if they were the bank's customers. The only difference is that the bank guarantees the money if it is stolen, and there are institutions that compensate customers' deposits up to a certain amount. Are you ready to guarantee their currencies and how will you do that if you make a mistake and it is stolen?
If they are not prepared to keep their private keys, Bitcoin may not be an ideal idea for them, or if they want to think of Bitcoin as an investment, they should wait until banks in your country offer deposits in Bitcoin.

There are services that provide encryption for wallet seed (Ledger Recover) so that the encryption is split between several trusted people, and it may be an option for those who do not have a safe place to store seeds, but again, do not trust anyone to store your coins.
927  Other / Meta / Re: question on: September 22, 2023, 02:21:15 AM
is it ok to advertise link to faucets or other platforms to earn some satoshi ?
If these faucets are good and pay users, you can make a list, continue to update it and put links to those faucets, but the problem is with the referral links. You can put them in your signature when you reach the appropriate rank, or at least put a link and ask the users to PM you to get the referral link in private if they want to support you, but you couldn't make it public.
928  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 22, 2023, 02:03:33 AM
But if you have a BIP39 seed phrase and change any of the letters to an upper-case letter, you will see a message saying "BIP39 (unknown wordlist)" and you will get completely different addresses.

OP generated his/her seed phrase on another wallet and it was BIP39.
But why isn't the principle the same as the seed phrase which is rechecked using the BIP 39 dictionary list, if the phrase exists it will give you guesses for the word, otherwise you will get an unknown wordlist error message? Huh
929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: No matter the pressure don't release on: September 21, 2023, 10:10:36 AM
I completely agree with you, do not release the guarantee unless everything is settled on both sides or at least rely on reliable people who have a good track record in resolving problems as these people are more understanding of delays in the time of arrival of payments than beginners who are usually in a hurry and try to put pressure. You need the support team to complete the transaction quickly, and this is something that scammers may do.
930  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Seed Phrase in Electum on: September 21, 2023, 10:04:07 AM
Thank you everyone......  It appears I have solved the problem.

Error was me writing down the words from Hodl and capitalizing them.  Entering them in lower-case worked.

Huh It is the first time that I know that electrum seed is case sensitive. I used to think that when you enter any seed word, it will be rechecked using the BIP 39 dictionary list. Therefore, you can always choose the correct word when you click on suggestions and you will not find new suggestions if the previous word you entered dis-matches the words of BIP 39. This is the way you know that you entered the wrong word.

2. Put the numerical index of the order of this into a deadman switch which will be sent to them if I fail to respond for my chosen period / times.

Trusting these devices is difficult and it may not broadcast the message at all, so I prefer to use a 3-of-5 (or 3-of-4)  multi-signature wallet, and you can choose the distribution according to what you need:

  • A key to a safe place such as a bank or a safe for a private company that protects everything, with their names placed on the list of guardians after proof of death
  • Another key is in the house.
  • A lawyer's key is in a safe whose password no one knows.
  • Distribute the password among them.
  • You have two additional keys that you can keep in a safe place outside the country or with a friend you trust.

932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unusual mnemonic seed and alternative recovery options on: September 21, 2023, 09:16:33 AM
She tried to login with the wallet ID instead of email, which asked for her password, which then gave a "Authorization required, check your email" message. So I'm assuming she also had two factor authentication.

Let her try to create a new account using that email or recover the wallet-ID using it. If a new account is created, this means that it is not the email associated with your account, and if you get a notification with the wallet-ID, then the problem is on their part in sending authorization mails.

There is a suggestion: If she is using a device from 2016 or from a device that she has connected to before, then try to connect through it. People rarely delete cookies, and if cookies are present, they may bypass authorization, although I think the probability of this option being successful is slim.
933  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Whats your thoughts: Next-Gen Bitcoin Mining Machine With 1X Efficiency Rating. on: September 21, 2023, 08:53:51 AM
So guys I stumbled on this article while doing my normal reading routine and I decided to bring it here to know how miners in the forum will react about this development by freely expressing their take about  it by way of a discussion.

If you have any investments in Bitcoin or are adopting any investment plan according to articles on bitcoin.com, it is a misleading site and may intentionally publish false information related to Bitcoin, and sometimes BCH is mentioned as if it were Bitcoin, review the article more than once or stop browsing them.

What do you think about Microbt’s plans to launch a new bitcoin miner with an efficiency rating of 1X J/T?  Share your thoughts and opinions about this subject just for the purpose of discussion.
Planning is different from implementation. Implementation requires testing several times before we can say that the promises they make are true. Therefore, we rarely witness rapid transformation of mining devices without tests. Some people may request a device or two, and after several months of experimentation, we can give an evaluation.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do crypto gateways compare to traditional methods in security & efficiency? on: September 21, 2023, 08:31:57 AM

And to be honest, local currency doesn't fluctuate that much, and in some sight that fluctuation is good. Because those who are making losses due to transactional fees and due to the volatility of the BTC. They might recover the loss by selling BTC into USDT and then USDT into local currency while the rates are now high and you are getting more money in local currency now due to the high fluctuations in the local currency/USDT pair.
It is that you are limited to a certain time before selling Bitcoin. The best stores can wait a year or two before selling their balance of Bitcoin, and then they may be forced to sell at a loss. For example, whoever bought Bitcoin in the previous period may be forced to sell it at the end of the year at a price less than 20,000.

Small stores cannot bear such surprises. They either use a third party that processes Bitcoin and transfers it to the bank account, whether in dollars or local currency, or they transfer part of their balances into stablecoin.
935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I'm looking for information on the wallet that has been emptied after the crack on: September 21, 2023, 08:08:49 AM
To collect information, if bitcoins are in the hackers wallet and it has not been moved, you may need to search  https://walletexplorer.com/wallet/
Walletexplorer is a poor tool for tracking transactions, which hasn't had most of the name database updated since 2016 since the founder moved on and now works for Chainalysis.com. If the hacker does not co-spend the transaction with other UTXO's in the same wallet. Walletexplorer will never know.
This is the main goal of such services. If you do not spend from many inputs (not using coinControl,) there is no way to know that they are linked except by connecting to a node managed by block analysis service and not having used Tor.
I agree with you that the results are bad, but I think they update them from time to time to exploit this service to collect more data, just as is the case when cooperating with some explorers.

Do you know a better or updated tool?

937  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Kroll Cyber Security Incident Leaks Out FTX Claimant Data on: September 20, 2023, 12:25:16 PM
The method for customers to recover their money from FTX started horribly, and I hope that the next stages will pass smoothly, but it is clear that from the moment the report was published, there was data sharing with several parties, not Kroll alone. Therefore, I think that it is easy for one of these parties to leak the data, and the entire recovery method seems hasty and as if An attempt to hide something. I do not think that everyone who lost their data will try to sue Kroll. I hope that they will be able to recover their money quickly and that what happened was a faltering start and not behavior that will turn the case into a new MTgox.
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do crypto gateways compare to traditional methods in security & efficiency? on: September 20, 2023, 12:14:15 PM
The current problem with Bitcoin is the limited user base and the fluctuation of exchange rates, which makes many people prefer to spend money with bank cards or banking services rather than spending it with Bitcoin, but in terms of security, the correct setting of the payment processing service reduces the possibility of losing your money, as you are in control of everything, you will not have to pay a commission or compliance with the terms of use. In terms of speed, it is the fastest based on the fact that payments are final and there is no possibility of using the Lightning network for small transactions.
The problem of exchange rate fluctuation can be solved by using a third party that converts bitcoin into dollars or stablecoins.
939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: All newbies should be aware. on: September 20, 2023, 11:56:09 AM
If you find money on the ground, this does not mean that you will find it daily at a pace that enables you to pay all your obligations. This is the same behavior that encourages people to airdrop, as there is a small possibility that one of several hundred of them will make a profit. However, this small gain makes people rush to it as long as it is written "Free" on them, but they do not feel that this free price comes with a price, either by trying to steal them, stealing their data, or wasting their time on worthless tokens.

Ignore every free Airdrop that comes to you, as you will lose a thousand dollars every few years, and use this time to learn something useful that will give you a continuous and guaranteed gain instead of dreams that may not came
940  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Notable apps that can accept BTC for premium subscription packages. on: September 20, 2023, 11:32:47 AM
Part of these services accept payment in Bitcoin directly, such as hosting service providers, VPNs, or freelancing platforms, or through Bitcoin payment services, whether direct, such as btcpayserver, or indirectly, such as cards that are charged with Bitcoin, such as Binance Pay. Indirect methods can include purchasing gift cards or postpaid cards, or paying a third party to conduct the transaction for you.
