It seems the singles aren't playing well with a couple of my chosen pools. I've set a portable AC unit to blow directly into their intakes and switched them to mine strictly at bitminter, where they seem very happy. This will likely cause our variance to increase, but we're now getting much closer to rated speed from the singles. I've switched the configs on the Avalons around to compensate.

This is just the Single SCs.

Edit: According to the kill-a-watt the singles were drawing 1094w from a dedicated 120v circuit when I snapped that screenie. While I've been very critical of BFL the efficiency is pretty sensational. These are likely to be hashing for us for a very long while with those kind of numbers.

Cheers.

I just want to say, great job.  It's been fun watching this stock.

Ty parseval, always nice to hear.

When the next avalon arrives can we get a "family photo"  Smiley ? Or they are far to apart ?

Too far apart at present. I moved av1 to make room for the singles as I didn't want any downtime from tripped breakers, then I moved the singles away from av2 & av3 for the same reason. I'm running some new dedicated circuits to deal with the load. If Avalon is serious about completing batch 3 shipping two weeks from Monday(unlikely) then we could have our four module monster very soon and I intend to be ready. I should've snapped off a pic when I had all three Avalons stacked nice and tidy like. Not the prettiest thing you ever saw since I added some wooden struts between the rigs to allow more airflow between them, but it did seem to cut temps.

All four singles are caseless and 4-8c cooler. It remains to be seen if and how much increased performance this will translate into.

Cheers.

I've stripped one of the singles and replaced one of the two fans(intake) with a beefier adda unit. It's only been hashing for about 15mins in this state, but temps are down 5-6c with a slight drop in HW errors. The cases are trapping heat, but it remains to be seen if they're better off with higher performance fans with or without enclosures.

Cheers.

Well, the magical 1.00000000 Bitcoin mark wasn't touched yet, so I save the champange pictures for now, but BASIC-MINER surpassed AM in volume, at least for the last 24 hours. Wink

creativex, not really a need, but maybe nice to have: do you keep hashing statistics somewhere? Like daily average? Those 445 GH/s from the spreadsheet aren't live, right?

Hi deX7. No they're not live. I've been logging data from the Avalons into a spreadsheet since the first two were delivered, but in tuning them I've been more concerned with diffa/time than questionable hashrate displays since that's how we get paid. For the BFLs I still have very little data.

Cheers.

Growing pains aside, we still mined 7.81012571 of which 70%(5.46708800) will be paid out to virtual shareholders today.

Cheers.

I'm going to lower the expected output of the BFL units. Their real hashrate over the past 18 hours has been closer to 55Gh/s than 60. Perhaps if they're better cooled they can reach higher speeds, but we're not getting 60 out of them at this time.

Nasty Mining also gets about 55 Gh/s from each such units.

Yeah, I think he's stripped them nekked too...the stock cooling isn't cutting it. I just got spoiled by the slick way in which Avalon designed their boxes, with them it's not a question of whether they meet spec or not, but by how much they exceed them. The singles are going to make me work to meet their rated speed.

Cheers.

The cluster of three singles stopped mining at some point over night, it looks like about two - three hours revenue was lost. I'm looking into the cause of the problem. The three Avalons and remaining single were not affected.

Cheers.

bASIC isn't designing next gen chips or selling hardware. With that said, creative has done a great job with the asset.

...actually I do have some GPUs if you're interested. Grin Thank you Frank, kind of you to say.

First, great work on the additional units. OgNasty had to strip off the cases of the BLFs for additional cooling. Also, naked devices make for great mining rig pr0n.  Wink
If you decide to take off the cases, watch out: it's sharp.

Thanks Carnth. As soon as I saw the HW rate & temps on the BFLs I went for tools to strip them naked, but restrained myself. I want some baseline numbers at various operating temps before I go fiddling around with them. The fans don't seem adequate and the case seems to be just trapping heat. They still haven't managed to meet their rated speed yet today, but it's getting downright cold where they're hashing. I want to see where they end up. At least they've stopped dropping out.

Cheers.

I've altered our pool balance to incorporate the BFL units. We're currently mining at polmine, bitparking, bitminter, & slush with the following shares:

The singles are all aimed at polmine.
Bitparking is seeing 3 of 9 slices from our 3 Avalons.
Bitminter is seeing 3 of 9 slices from our 3 Avalons.
Polmine is seeing 2 of 9 slices from our 3 Avalons.
Slush is seeing 1 of 9 slices from our Avalons.

Polmine currently reports us at: 201997 Mh/s
Bitparking currently reports us at: 78045 Mh/s
Bitminter currently reports us at: 91611 Mh/s
Slush currently reports us at: 27807 Mh/s

Pool hashrates are obviously not reliable, but that's where we stand atm.

Cheers.

1000BTC more to spend? wow! what are you a magican  ? Also prepare for another split I quess  Cheesy

lol

I'll accept thrifty...even cheap...and proudly. We have 1031.935 to be precise. We raised 1872 in our IPO thanks to our awesome virtual shareholders, and then did extremely well with ASICMiner shares, collecting a healthy 73.1% profit while supplementing our dividends during our dark days. Going forward we'll have solid reinvestment fund growth(2.5+/day) to sustain us and help keep us on the happy side of network expansion. It's always been my goal to build a virtual company on a solid foundation. I haven't done anything without keeping long term sustainability in mind.

Cheers.

Well he is sitting on 429 BTC from the sale of AM.   Grin

I guess we know what he did with the coins from the sale of AM  Grin

Hi djjacket. It was not going to be a super dividend week for AM. We had a healthy profit, no reason to leave it on the table. I suspect we'll get more mileage from a 240Gh/s boost to our own hashrate. We've now doubled up our hashes, have 100+ Gh/s on the way and still have over 1000BTC in reserves.

Cheers.

Edit:

15Min average at polmine...still climbing.

Proud new owner of some Basic-Mining shares  Grin

Welcome aboard Bill. Unless things go VERY wrong today, tomorrow's will easily best our largest dividend ever. Wink

With this addition, does it make sense to continue with the GPU's?  I know they have to be shut down sooner or later, and with a major jump in hashing power, it might be an opportune time so it won't be missed, plus I doubt you need to fry eggs today

Alternatively, would it be at all worth it to point the GPUs at LTC?

Yes. Burnside added stratum which requires a more recent version of CGMiner. I was using GUIMiner to keep things easy to swap, but the version I have deployed is too old to benefit from stratum, so I need to upgrade that before switching back to kattare. The change is small potatoes compared to babysitting the ASICs so I've been prioritizing.

Cheers.

Travelling today, so will be unavailable. I'm going to try to calculate today's dividend earlier than usual and queue it up, but I may end up just paying PPS and squaring it with tomorrow's divvy.

Cheers.

Bring some new miners as gift from the travels as usual !

Perhaps. I have three singles running off a tiny netbook right now and it keeps coughing and sputtering, requiring me to restart BFGMiner. Often one of the singles fails to detect upon restart, which is a pain. The whole thing is very messy compared to the elegance of Avalon rigs, but hopefully they become more reliable over time. The one connected to my server is also running off BFGMiner 3.1.1, but hasn't had any issues. If it's the netbook that's causing the problem, I may just swap it out for a real computer which would allow me to run at least a couple vid cards mining LTCs while directing the BFLs. That kind of change is down the road at any rate, for now I need more cooling, these things are running too hot. BFL has not designed adequate cooling for the units and they're throttling...air temp is 20c in this room, so there's really no excuse. Off to pick up a second AC unit...

Cheers.

I have three online, the fourth is being a pain. Won't detect with either cgminer or bfgminer.

These things run HOT. Shocked

Edit: Got the fourth online, but had to connect it to my server which I'm not crazy about.

Pictured is the four singles and one new Antec HCP-1300 Platinum 1300w modular PSU. I actually obtained two of the Antec platinum PSUs in addition to the 4 BFL single SCs and a powered USB hub for a grand total of 503.44BTC. One of the beefy Antecs should be able to handle all four Singles and the other should easily handle our four module batch 3 rig when it arrives.

Cheers.
