Thanks TC for making this thread. I'm sure at some point it will be a great source for someone to help with their stolen account.

Mousepotato got her account hacked and was sold by Subud! (claimed to have bought it for 1 BTC) and then sold the account to a user named escrow.pm for 1.2 BTC, who claimed he was only going to use the account to serve as escrow for traders. Yeah I'm sure that would have worked out great. Anyway, she didn't have any publicly posted BTC address that she could have signed, but since I know her IRL, I vouched that her account did indeed get hacked. Based upon that and perhaps a bit of a war with Goat over 400+ BTC she was owed, Theymos was able restore her account and the PMs that the hacker wiped. PMs that she needed to prove that Goat did indeed owe her a fair bit of BTC. BTW, I just posted a thread here in Meta for staking your Bitcoin address so that in the event where your account gets hacked, you could simply sign the address you posted in that thread to prove that you are the owner of said account: Stake your Bitcoin address here Thats a excellent idea Tomatocage. I will do that in just a little bit. Thanks for making that thread as well. I'm sure the public, I know I do, really appreciates it.

Just out of curiousity, and you can remain hidden if you chose, but who on this forum has had their Bitcointalk account stolen and the admins get it back? I've only heard hearsay about 1 person. IronMarvel I do believe was their name. I am highly curious as to why I see all these stolen accounts and lots of information proving that they were stolen, and they never get returned. I added a poll to the thread so you can just answer the poll and leave, you don't have to post any comments unless you want to.
Its pretty simple, the Admins aren't going to return an account unless they can prove 100% that they are the original owner. If they sign a message from a Bitcoin address that they used in the past, that pretty much clears it up. If they have emails with pms, that is pretty inconclusive. Yeah I know. But I have a account that has been proven hacked/stolen, have proof that it was, signed a message to Theymos, and nada for over a month now. That's the point of this thread, basically to see if I'm all alone in this, or is this a ongoing occurance. I do understand that Theymos has a life and other stuff to do. But don't that responsibility fall on him whether he's got other things on his agenda or not? The threads say it does, but I've yet to see it done personally. I know with what I'm seeing in Meta that Theymos is OVERWHELMED WITH STOLEN ACCOUNTS RIGHT NOW, and am not "harshly" criticizing Theymos none. I do think though when the new forum comes into play he will relieve himself from this duty. I can't say that I blame him either. Not 1 bit. I'll post this just for reference as well. My account "convicted2008" was stolen on February 11th. They attempted to get a loan with Quickseller with it. They was nothing special about the account, it was just a full member account. Links to related stolen account threads: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=985555.0 <---This one is where the proof is that I was hacked and my account stole. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=952735.0 <---This is the thread I started when my account was stolen.

I really hope that when the new forum is released there are alot of changes to the trust system that's currently in place. I've read bits and pieces of this thread about Canaryinthemine but not enough to make a judgement on the party. Whether the trust system is updated or not makes no difference on who people should trust. They should use their best judgement and look into others judgement of others by checking their previously posted trust on "x" users. I do frown upon people abusing the trust system. Why would someone abuse something that's meant for good if they themselves are trustworthy? I'm not going to breakdown trustworthy into subexceptions. That would seem pointless now wouldn't it.

account details: registered in 2013 , Activity 500+, 3K posts , no avatar, with one posivte trusted feedback from member who on the default trust list.
Want to know your offer first before I decide to sell it or not.
Before an offer I think the majority of users want to know if you can sign a message from a bitcoin address posted here in the forum, as proof of ownership. Thank you for your reply redsnow, but I can't release more information. I'm just want to know how much I can get from selling account like that, if I get a competive offer, I will take a consideration on selling it. He didn't ask for you to show a signed message, he asked if you could. This sounds like a stolen account by the last response. Just a opinion. It may not be stolen I have no facts.

Absolutely, with the rise of stolen bitcointalk accounts now, a signed message is a must especially for a hero account. Nobody wants to be responsible or involved in any transaction where there my be a case of stolen goods. This is for your protection as well as the buyers. Only scammers would not care about this.

You have to have a credit card associated with the account as well. Also google may have caught onto the person wanting the accounts and banned them and they are having to resort to buying them from a unbanned user.

Finally a good deal! I bid 25$ in BTC
Watch out, selling steam account is frowned upon by Steam. This account may be banned if word gets out so keep it hush hush. Really? I guess I shouldn't risk that much then... What about 10$? As long as the name of the account isn't revealed then I don't see how they can do anything about it, unless the information is given to Steam.

I will buy them. We can use Redsn0w as the escrow?
Unless your willing to trust me. Your decision
EDIT: Redsn0w said that they didn't want to be a escrow any more. So the choices are, 1. find another escrow. 2 trust me. 3 Don't sell the accounts. I'll leave it up to you.
I can confirm that I am now in possession of the accouts. Here is the address I sent the btc too 1LJYHwpRYLrR5X9MdJQYsEHtt5DSkuJHRT
Here is the tx on it. 0e7b4896a327ecd52ecb4370d445970eeacbf3d82c46ecc858d5ea1d5d274f2e

Personally I feel that you could do a promo code and attract more members. I for one am not going to invest my own funds in something I know nothing about. You should give promo codes to trusted members of the community that are willing to validate your site, such as Faneagle for example. Just a suggestion.

Can you sign a message for both accounts to show they are not stolen?

I bought $75USD worth of BTC from this user. No escrow was used and the btc was sent within 1 minute of me giving them the tracking number associated with the transaction. I do recommend this seller of btc.

This is a obvious phishing attempt by some hacker. I would not do anything that the email instructs. Delete it, then delete your trash. You will end up getting everything you have stolen if you don't.

Wow, gods that we are..lol.. Sounds to me someone got their lunch money took alot and has found a way to retaliate. Just another opinion from the prior statement. I have not taken the time to read all the posts throughly and come to a legit cencus. I will in the next day or so.
