921  Economy / Goods / Re: Art sold for less than 1c on LN on: January 24, 2020, 04:47:49 PM
All I can say is brilliant! All the Bitcoin > Fiat statements made using a single minimal artistic creation is amazing.

Kudos for sharing the article and congratulations to the artist for the talent and inspiration!

A bad experience with getting a spyware or other type of virus that intrudes your computer have a big impact especially for newbies who are just getting started. Losing all your crypto funds due to not paying attention to small.things could frustrate the hell out of some people.

I have always thought that "better be safe than sorry" is a very good proverb. It doesn't cost that much to do a little bit of research on how to protect your identity and belongings in the digital world.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying real estate with Bitcoin on: January 23, 2020, 05:59:03 PM
Bitcoin has become a recognised asset all over the world. It's just that most of the people are not comfortable with the high volatility on cryptocurrencies. That's the reason why many people have not started allocating a big part of their savings to it. Bitcoin can be exchanged to fiat at any moment so I don't see why would anyone reject BTC as a payment especially if they are not a big businesses that needs to respect a lot of regulations and accounting laws.
924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fraud victim,75, loses £11k in life savings! Secure your BTC just now! on: January 23, 2020, 05:29:17 PM
Hackers' tactics and abilities must evolve over time so they keep up with the innovations in the antivirus and protection software. If we don't remain updated about the latest practices and don't make the minimum necessary effort to keep our belongings safe then we shouldn't be suprised if we lose them. The world is full of mischievous people and some will attempt to steal from us one way or another. Be safe out there!
925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Evolution of the Bitcoin Logo on: January 23, 2020, 02:19:36 PM
It is a very interesting story indeed! Thanks for sharing it in here!

My opinion is that we need a logo for the or at least a symbol. Our mental structure tends to associate things. That's how we make distinctions.

Although Bitcoin could survive without it, it is a nice addition to have.
926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Selling milk tea for Bitcoin on: January 23, 2020, 01:15:25 PM
Gotta love when different generations join forces to make something great from a relatively simple business.

Of course it would be beneficial for the adoption to incentivise paying with Bitcoin. You could also keep a percent of the payments made with BTC for further appreciation if you believe in a "crypto future".

Small businesses like yours are the backbone of any economy and could represent the main pillars towards adoption. Coffee, milk tea shops are the best places to promote crypto.
927  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Options is a bit overwhelming for me. Any Suggestions to make it easier? on: January 22, 2020, 05:13:40 PM
As the title suggests. I am a newbie trader and have recently found out the benefits of trading options. The hard part is that there are just too many things I see that I have to fill to execute a trade. Are there any guides that could help me understand trading options? or any platforms that makes it easier for trading? Thanks in advance.

Read some books, understand the inner workings of options by digging deeper in the subject. Make sure you test trading options on demo accounts before risking your hard-earned funds. Moreover by making a few hundred option trades you will see how your positions react to different kinds of price movement & more importantly how to manuever yourself in and out of the positions. Financial derivatives products are complex things, don't expect to be easy to get a grasp of them.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do cryptocurrencies diversify each other? on: January 22, 2020, 04:52:45 PM
You can check the Bitcoin domination on a chart on tradingview. When BTC domination grows the altcoins general price in satoshi value decreases and vice-versa. Regarding your investments depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to multiply your dollars you should track your portfolio in fiat value and not against BTC.

I do think that altcoins have higher growth potential than Bitcoin just because they've got beat so hard by the bear market, but the risk higher too. Make your own analysis and come with a decision. Wink
929  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why does having a LinkedIn profile mean you're legit? on: January 22, 2020, 04:18:43 PM
For me to see that you're a legit person not even meeting you face-to-face wouldn't count too much. I need lawyers and signed contracts, guarantees from the bank. You know the saying "trust, but verify".
The scammers are coming with a multitude of new perspectives to con people. For an "established" scammer setting up a fake profile that looks like real is like a walk in the park. As we transcend into a highly technologized era we need to become aware about the risks we face at every online action we make. All I can recommend is to be safe out there and trust no one!
930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As expected THE LIAR, CLOWN 'John McAfee' backs down from $1M claim on: January 22, 2020, 02:56:24 PM
Sincerely, how many of us actually believed him that he will actually do that.. on national television. Let's be serious. Of course that his actions were manipulative and his arrogance is beyond any limits but he's free to say whatever he wants on his public page. Nevertheless I don't agree with his statement that Bitcoin is ancient technology. Internet is not ancient technology, telephone is not ancient technology so why would Bitcoin and blockchain be that?

The Bitcoin blockchain is very flexible and is a technological fountain. Many things can be built on and around it. LN and smart contracts are just small examples.
931  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OMG !!! Disaster for BitCoin... Who Stole all of PETER SCHIFF's Bitcoins ??? on: January 21, 2020, 05:34:30 PM
Settle down, my fellow Bitcoin follower. The fact that Peter Schiff lost his bitcoins has nothing to do with the drop in price. That's an isolated event - I didn't even know who Peter Schiff was to be sincere even if I consider myself a veteran in the cryptocurrency industry. He may have held some BTC in his account, but I'm sure he didn't have a significant amount. And he lost the access to his bitcoin wallet - not necessarily that someone hacked the account. At the end it could be just a fake statement to somehow influence the sentiment of the retailers.
932  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Institutional Investors Bring in the Next Wave of Hype to the Crypto-Sphere? on: January 21, 2020, 05:07:35 PM
Institutional investors and traders are already in the markets. It is just that only a few of the "sharks" from Wall Street have entered the market so far. CME and Bakkt have made the first steps towards creating a legal framework that would make the investors feel "safe" about their money. You won't see many institutional traders operating on exchanges like Bitmex or Binance that are not regulated and do not offer some kind of guarantee of the funds' safety.

Recently the Gemini exchange has announced the backing of their proprietary insurance company that would cover it with over $200M. The signs are there folks, institutions are slowly marching into the crypto sphere.
933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full Bitcoin node in Tesla? It is possible! on: January 21, 2020, 04:05:36 PM
That's a very interesting though. If every electric car in the world would run a bitcoin full node we would have an incredible powerful dynamic decentralized network. We could actually create a mesh network upon that. EWlon Musk has showed his interest in the blockchain and cryptocurrencies industry through his many controversial tweets & for me it wouldn't be a big surprise if we would actually implement the ability to host nodes or at least integrated wallets. How comfy would it be to make payments from your Tesla touchscreen while on the go instead of using your phone which is mostly illegal?
934  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: You CANNOT trade successfully without RISK-MANAGEMENT on: January 21, 2020, 02:52:42 PM
Personally I don't agree with your statement that it is harder to save than to earn. If you have a little bit of financial education you can easily put your money to work for you at a relatively low amount of risk. For the average amateur investoe the returns won't be very high if you choose to invest in assets with a low risk like real estate or bonds.

Trading is a whole other endeavour than investing. You've got to have a viable edge first of all and then to implement solid risk management principles that protect your account and limit your behaviour. Losses will incur inevitably when you're a trader, risk management will enable you ro "absorb" those losses without much damage while you expose yourself to gains.
935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Petro And Cryptocurrency Casino In Venezuela on: January 21, 2020, 01:53:04 PM
My belief is that third-world countries which are in harsh economic situations are and will be the main pioneers of the cryptocurrency global mainstream adoption.

Crypto means freedom and the escape from governments excessive control. Blockchain on the other part of the ewuation adds transparency and if used correctly can eradicate corruption completely.
936  Economy / Speculation / Re: Monday Is the Best Day to Buy Bitcoin? on: January 20, 2020, 05:43:36 PM
Traditionally at the start of the week the retailer traders have more activity while the pros analyse their moves, maybe even trap them to engineer liquidity then drive the price in the direction they are looking for. If at the beginning of the week we have lower prices while at the end of the week we have higher prices it means that the institutional traders are probably bullish, but yet there are many intricacies within the market that are quite complex to fully understand.

Your charts look legit but I wouldn't base any investment decisions based on solely that factor. Remember, three times makes a trend! Wink
937  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3 smart ways to bet on the upcoming bitcoin halvening with options on: January 20, 2020, 05:31:51 PM
Options have always been a magnificent instrument for the professionals to hedge their portfolios. However for the amateur crypto trader options and derivatives in general can represent a daunting new world. Remember that when you sell call options you are exposed to unlimited risk( your whole account is exposed). Then you have to ask yourself if it is not better to just buy perpetual contracts on leverage instead of making a bet by buying a probably expensive option. But all these things depend on your trading/investment strategy.

While options can be very rewarding as all the other trading instruments, they can make a trader's account disappear as fast as a lightning.
938  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Okay. Charge tax on bitcoin. Is this fair policy? on: January 20, 2020, 05:10:42 PM
In my opinion due to the high volatility of the bitcoin asset countries sohuld only tax Bitcoin when it is converted into a fiat currency (seen as an income) or spent on purchasing a product or service. In other words they should apply the capital gains tax. The system should be similar to holding shares or commodities. For example if you purchase a TSLA share at $400 and you sell it at $380 you will be able to deduct your capital losses and vice-versa to pay tax on your capital gains. I think that's the fairest policy. If you trade and take your profits in Bitcoin you shouldn't have to pay the tax until you sell the Bitcoin.
939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Schiff Lost His Bitcoin on: January 20, 2020, 02:36:44 PM
There are two hypothesises here. Being a renown Bitcoin bear he might want to bring panic to the crypto community that Bitcoin and inherently BTC wallets are not safe, but I'm sure no one would believe that non-sense. He is either just faking the lose of his password or he is a negligent bitcoin user. It is common sense to back-up the private keys to your wallet especially if you hold a significant amount of funds.

No matter what he says - he is the only one to blame. He didn't even exposed the bitcoin wallet he was using afaik
940  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency Shines as US Mortgage Debt Exceeds 2008 Levels on: January 19, 2020, 05:41:21 PM
Almost all kinds of debt are hyper inflated in the United States. If mortgage debt is so big and continues to increase what should we say about the education debt. Banks are making huge loans to students who are not even capable of paying it back. Just a few of them can actually get a job in a decent amount of time. A lot of them default and go bankrupt by leaving school and some loans even excuse them from paying the credit if they don't finish the school or drop out on the initial stages as far as I have heard. BUT this is a big red flag and if all these bubbles pop around the same time it will be very hard for the economy to be revived at decent parameters.
