It will be interesting to see what effect this has on bitcoin transactions - it might be possible to gauge just what % were attributed to SR.
923  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Great Silk Road Crash of 20** ...? on: October 02, 2013, 04:48:07 PM
BTC-e has dropped from $124 to $115

Let's see how much of an effect this has.

I think we will easily bounce back Smiley

927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: SEC Charges pirateat40 With Running Bitcoin-Denominated Ponzi Scheme on: September 27, 2013, 08:53:10 PM
I fell for this, sadly.

The mob mentality definitely was part of it.

My belief that bitcoin is revolutionary also played a part - I thought it not impossible that it could be used for some function that normal currency couldn't, producing such profits.

Of course with hindsight I was awfully stupid.

You live you learn.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unspent Bitcoin Dust on: September 24, 2013, 05:42:15 PM
For example, on BTC-e I have:

Balance: 0.00367673 BTC

This is not dust. It will be spent by BTC-e owners.
So maybe it's not technically dust.

However, I would still be interested in people's speculations.

929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Unspent Bitcoin Dust on: September 24, 2013, 04:45:25 PM
This is for a project...

Does anyone care to estimate the amount of unspent BTC dust that is left on various exchanges, gambling sites, online wallets etc.

For example, on BTC-e I have:

Balance: 0.00367673 BTC

It would be a great help if people could speculate on how much this might add up to.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I am going to try eBay as well. I have a screenshot of my order. I can't see a way to post it? I see the IMG tags but it looks like it needs a URL. I don't really have a place to host the image from.
You can host it at http://imgur.com/

932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC coming to Gox? on: September 05, 2013, 06:38:12 AM
The only thing driving BTC price up on Gox is the inability to cash out

so today's btc price crash must be driven by the sudden ability to cash out USD now   ...right?

logic

Can you elaborate - are you referring to some change at MtGox or to the fact BTCe is now doing international wires to US customers?

935  Economy / Speculation / Re: The ultimate bitcoin taboo topic on: September 02, 2013, 04:08:38 PM
If the high concentration of wealth of a small number of people starts to cause significant problems, then people will simply move away from BTC and into another more evenly distributed crypto-currency.

However, I don't see it as being a significant enough problem for this to happen.

What's more, who's to say the owners of these large wallets might not act benevolently?

And to think, on Star Trek they meet strange aliens from different galaxies and instantly understand every word they say. lol
That's because on Star Trek the aliens aren't cognitively impaired.

938  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to explain google trends vs BTC/USD ratio? on: September 01, 2013, 05:26:16 PM
That looks like a breakaway from relying on media hype and a move towards legitimacy to me Smiley

What about 65 euros for both?
Sorry that's far too low for me.

Smoothie sells them from the US for 43 LTC each which = ~$102

And his postage to Europe would be 28 LTC = ~$67

Yes, but you realize that:
1) 102 usd is slighty more than 65 euros.
2) You can't sell them higher than his price. Or even at the same price. They are second hand.
3) You don't have such a high price for delivering in Europe.

How much do you expect for it?
I would consider these coins to be no more second hand than coins you would buy from a reseller. They have been looked at twice, that's all.

I believe charging the same as smoothie does for the coins is fair, considering I am offering the exact same product and also a potential cost and time saving on postage.

I will clarify how much I am looking for in the original post.
