921  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Goodbye Philippines for Binance. on: December 01, 2023, 06:05:49 AM
PH is a country full of crypto users. I hope my fellow members there will extract their coins out of Binance quickly. They should move to local exchanges, P2P and DEXs. No international exchange is forever, this event only solidifies this fact as the truth.

Local exchanges actually have a good opportunity to catch these users who have lost their prefered exchange and willing to use a new one.

I would not suggest my fellow members to use a VPN to bypass the block when it comes in future. You will be putting yourself at risk.
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happen if Bitcoin shutdown? on: November 30, 2023, 08:59:53 AM
As long as even one user is using bitcoin it is not shut down. It is censorship-resistant meaning that governments cannot stop it because they don't like. It is decentralised which means that no central body is in control of it which makes it even more difficult to stop let alone, shut down.

Market crash is something secondary to a negative news. It is not what is shutting down would actually infer though maybe for centralised coins like Ripple this might be a useful term.

Hackers are knowledgeable enough to not attempt to stop bitcoin, they would rather try to steal coins.
923  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mempool fees and Solutions on: November 30, 2023, 08:56:29 AM
In this context I would like to raise a question on how do you confirm that an accelerator service actually helped your transaction speedup or was it just a placebo effect?
If you successfully submit your transaction to an accelerating service, you will know they accelerated your transaction because it would be included in the next block mined by the mining pool. If you use a paid tx accelerating service, then your tx can either be mined by the pool themselves or their cooperating pools. Take note that there are a lot of scam accelerating services and some who only rebroadcast tx's, but collect payment from gullible bitcoiners for that.
The second point is exactly what is happening to many users out there. If they are not showing which pool they are working with and just rebroadcast the transaction they are essentially running a scam. However more work needs to be done from our side to shine such scammers without any loophole and outcast them from the forum.

Some of them are nicely operating from this forum itself which makes me cringe.

925  Other / Meta / Re: Has Bitcointalk lost it's appeal for projects to announce themselves on? on: November 29, 2023, 10:01:27 AM
What do you think is the reason? Has bitcointalk lost it's charm?
Yeah most of them either ended up as failures of downright scams. You are right they losing their habit of coming here, but they are doing this because they are getting "Victims" to scam here with their vaporware and rugpulls.

If you have a community which is hardened enough to call out every other scam from the core and expose their red flags, you would not want to come there unless you have a legitimate project at hand that you are proud of.

I would rather see a handful of legit projects run their ANNs here than a multitude of scams run their bullshit.
926  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mempool fees and Solutions on: November 29, 2023, 09:55:24 AM
Here are the viable solutions that I have found to be working till date:
1. Use an altcoin for the time being. LTC, DOGE are good options if you dont want to stretch it.
2. Use SegWit if not already and learn how to use the Lightning Network along with its arguments and counter-arguments. There is a lot of pro/anti voice surrounding LN in this forum.
3. Just wait it out - might not be feasible for everyone though.
4. ViaBTC accelerator is the only working one.

In this context I would like to raise a question on how do you confirm that an accelerator service actually helped your transaction speedup or was it just a placebo effect? The second one has been exploited by certain unscrupulous users of this forum essentially extorting users of money by doing nothing in the name of speeding up transactions - their prevalence has dropped but they still operate and we need some concrete argument to stop them once and for all.
927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who says you can't be a millionaire in sports betting? on: November 29, 2023, 09:46:37 AM
These wins that get posted on social media including this forum are one in a thousand or more. The rest of them are losing the bets. If everyone was winning the bets, the casino would go bankrupt, but that never happening, we all know that.

Hence by showing one big win, it does not mean that the next bet is going to be another big win. Maybe even the person who made this bet won big after a long line of losses and it is possible that they money they made on this one still does not break even the cumulative losses till date.

My point being that gambling can be a win for some, if so cash out and never come back - but for most people it will be a loss and the casino will always be the winner.
928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Request to learn gambling on: November 29, 2023, 09:43:10 AM
Now, there's a simple question that I want to ask: do you guys think I should introduce her to gambling? If yes, what's the easiest game she can stake in and also enjoy while gambling?
Only paper based dummy gambling is safe with no money involved, otherwise any gamble is a risk. You could show her how these games work with the constant hammering that the casinos are made to profit the owners and not the players and that quick and easy money does not exist.

Then show here some free games and how you can easily "lose" money there no matter how hard you try. Explain the math behind this if she is interested and is educated enough to fathom it.

Show her how many gambling addiction support groups are there and how people lose their entire life savings to gambling to make sure they dont go down the rabbit hole.

What about 10BTC investment? It generates 0.001BTC daily that is equal of $37 daily or 1200 USD monthly. It's more than enough income for those who live in poor countries and still a very good addition for those who live in rich western countries.
Not bad at all. Monthly money made from that can be easily used to cover up monthly bills in any under-developed country that has its local currency in red compared to the USD.

It can be a good method to hold those coins instead of keeping them locked in the wallet. Additionally the site allows you to withdraw the money any time you want. The only deterrent is the counterparty risk - meaning that you have to trust the opposite party in this case freebitco.in's owner and that they would not scam you, which we can all be sure that they would not.

OP is probably trying to get some users from this forum to their telegram where they can run their shady deals for the last one month.

Take a look at their post history, Archived here - https://archive.fo/TVA9G

Anyone contacting the OP, please exercise caution. The number of ways a person can scam you here is beyond your thinking. If possible make the deal on the forum with a reputed escrow as middleman.

There seems to be a user in the Spanish local who already detected his scam here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5472513.msg63116577#msg63116577

Archived - https://archive.fo/hUOpD#selection-6979.0-7018.3

Spanish locals might be able to enlighten us here.
931  Local / Buyer/ Seller Reputations (India) / Re: Got Scammed worth 7318.50 INR By user Nag1977 On Binance P2P on: November 28, 2023, 07:07:35 AM
Well firstly, I would suggest removing the personal data of the scammer from the OP, this is not an "Investigations" section/ Doxing is not allowed here.
Secondly, thanks for posting this, such information will help others in similar position.

Chargeback is something we have to take the risk of in such methods of payment. Paypal has been notorious in such cases previously when digital payments in India was still a thinktank blueprint.

Even an escrow cannot save you in such cases they can force the chargeback months after the payment is completed.

Has the OP started taken any legal steps yet/contacted the Law enforcement? Those guys in uniform are worth trying, such cases are not completely unknown to them.

I would also like to ask because I have not used Binance P2P myself - is UPI part of their system or did you deal with them after getting their offer away from Binance P2P, meaning outside the site?
932  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: sites with bonuses without deposit on: November 28, 2023, 07:00:40 AM
Hello everyone, do you have sites with no deposit bonuses or no deposit free bets?
Sites used to have faucets before this.

I think crypto.games still have a faucet and most of the other sites have shut down or restricted the same to limited use.

But specifically a site giving you free bets without any deposit is a red flag, they may try to scam. In such cases you need to verify the provably fair system and if things are not seeming clear to you, try to avoid the website altogether, dont get greedy with free spins or free bets. Do check the terms before you start playing on such a site.

In case you are a freeloader, I would say bad days are coming for you if you are only looking for free money.
933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not perfect, and that's okay. on: November 28, 2023, 06:54:42 AM
Yes, no. I used to think that Bitcoin was a perfect thing that was perfect in all components, but now, due to some reasons, I am forced to think that there are actually some reasons that can reduce Bitcoin in the eyes of people and that there is a problem with fees. And when I monitor, there is a lack of concept in Bitcoin due to fees, and this is a big sensitive issue for Bitcoin enthusiasm, but this issue can present a hurdle to Bitcoin adoption in the world.
The fees problem was why SegWit and Lightning Network was conceived. You can start by reading about how the LN works and gradually start using it, although we have a lot of anti-LN voice in this forum too. Whether it can reduce the enthusiasm? I dont think so, because the fees are usually high when the price is rising and that increases enthusiasm as well. It was low when the market was bearish so fans should have bought at that time. Hence someone buying when the fees are high is also making a wrong move.

Another option is to use a different altcoin to tide over the high fees temporarily. In future we might get new features from the devs to solve this problem.

Quote
Moreover, two weeks have passed since my signature payment, but the manager has not sent us his payment because of the fee. Which I think could be a big issue for Bitcoin.
Managers will decide how to solve this issue at present. Some have used LTC as payment if LN of BTC is not used by the participants.
934  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the fall of Elon Musk's empire imminent? on: November 28, 2023, 06:49:50 AM
I think he said per year.
I wouldn't pay 1 $ a month for any social media. Not even Whatsapp.
You would pay to use a instant messenger or a social media app? I would shut down my social media if that was the case and wait for another free platform to come up or use the SMS system. We are indeed dependent on the IM apps but not on social media apps, which have now become pseudo-escorting apps in case of Tinder/Bumble and a place for redpilled people in case of Twitter/X and so on.

In either case, if they start such a system people will move on and the owners will face a drop in revenue as another developer comes up with a free and open-source app.

Speculation at its peak indeed, lets see who the space psychos face the upcoming future.

Same sort of deal is why interest rates can be confusing, credit cards always want to quote monthly as it can easily confuse people how they add it all up to the annual cost.
I dont see much confusion here at all.

Quote
Compounding and so on complicates matters but they've been fair here and its equalized on the yearly view.
It is easier that way and to get the monthly rare just divide by 12.

Quote
Same sort of mixup can happen when looking at the daily interest given, its only altogether and including compound that its 4% or higher but daily its all alot smaller but still I like that its daily; banks dont give that convenience on deposits some of them Im never sure they pay me anything as it takes forever to appear.
Daily interest is given on the "Earn BTC" page
Code:
Daily interest will be calculated at a random time everyday @ 0.0109589% per day.
However for any amount less than 100BTC invested, the daily interest would not seem withdraw-worthy. I would rather run it for a month or a year before I withdraw.

I was just wondering if anyone heard of this site taking Ethereum as a deposit.  Would this not boost traffic and open availability to a wider audience.  I just figured that'd be an easy way to gain more revenue and also its helpful to the players to have the ability to bet ETH.  I know we can bet on the ETH price so maybe its possible.  I guess this decision on this idea was already considered at some point but every year ETH is a bit more established so who knows maybe we can see it ?
Talk about the site taking altcoin deposits happened back in 2018-2019 but was never taken up forward. The site has branded itself as a "bitcoin" faucet and it should remain like that in my opinion.

Thank you, can be closed. I got the loan and payed it back accordingly. Thanks!
Ya bumped this thread after 5years for what? Lock this thread and move on, posting random followup comments about loans taken and paid will not earn you reputation here.

As far as lenders here are concerned, you asked for a non-collateral loan five years ago and then vanished just like any drive-by loan (Vod's wording here Grin).

In any place one live in there must be an accusation the the resolution is always the best.
Accusations happen in every casino out there, but sites like Crypto.games/DogeCoinMachine, Primedice, Yolodice, Justdice, have been here for so long with a clean sheet that cannot be ever tainted and they all strive to maintain that reputation over years.

Often they have to take decisions in lines of their terms and conditions of users attempting to misuse the website with a malevolent mindset. I have seen accusations being solved clearly in the "Scam accusations" section and genuine ones are professionally solved. Most of the times, the newbie accusers are often at fault themselves.
938  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Since 2013 | Longest Running Crypto Casino | 113 BTC Jackpot! on: November 27, 2023, 09:34:21 AM
Maybe they can offer something like account transfer from PD to Stake so old Stake players do not need to start from Zero to enjoy the VIP perks.
Dont think anything like that is happening in the near future or so. PD seems to drag on with some older users who keep running their bets and a bunch of rainlovers in the chat who have been posting nonsense for years now just to get that "booty drop" <-- thats a new term I learnt from the chat these days Cheesy

In either case the serious players have moved on to Stake and sadly to other sites. With the shutdown of the promotional stuff at primedice and their small forum, it eventually means the attention from owners have shifted and although they are supporting PD, it will not be like it was back in the days.
939  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: History of garage mining in Russia on: November 27, 2023, 09:25:32 AM
If you believe the news that Russia ranks 2nd in mining in the world, then mining companies do not have such problems.
I dont know the actual metrics to be able to confirm or deny this, but as per the data on this website, it says that USA is the first and China has been the second and before this the opposite was true, the Chinese have lost their dominance as the first in the recent years.

Each company has a contract for a certain power consumption and their data cents are well designed and protected. Although I heard that in Europe data centers are burning. The last major fire was in a large data center in Strasbourg in 2021.
Havent heard such news for long indeed, the European centers must have better setups and fire prevention.

I wanted to tell you how private miners work in Russia, and what risks they take to engage in mining.
Thankfully no one got hurt in the above incident.

By the way, if we gather fun tokens on freebitco, do we also get interest on them as well? and if so, the same percentage 4.08%?
I have not tried the FUN token investment. But I do participate in the Bitcoin investment which gives us 4.08% per year. I have seen the section dedicated to the FUN tokens and it is in my view another investment scheme running on the site which uses the FUN tokens that can be bought using BTC on the site itself with reference to the exchange price widget in the same page. That FUN token interest is separate from the bitcoin "savings account" interest.

Correct me if I am wrong though. I have not used or touched the FUN tokens section much.
