921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do I need to verified my bittrex account ? on: December 11, 2017, 09:02:17 AM
You like it or not, you need to verify yourself. Basic accounts won't work with them anymore and your account must be enhanced account and that's it. Biitrex account is the best trading platform and so I have nothing against with their new policies if it would mean more security for its users.

I have a basic account with them before and it works perfectly being able to withdraw but due to their new policy not allowing withdrawal without verification then there are many traders whose funds were trapped in there and some are unlucky because they use a different name that's why they can't be verified. Luckily for me, I don't have any funds left before they implement that but I am planning to deposit again but will verify first before depositing so that all will go smoothly. The coins that I want to trade are in there and they have high volume as well that's why I decided to go back.
922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what to do if bitcoin decreases? on: December 11, 2017, 04:40:35 AM
now a lot of investors are investing in bitcoin, therefore bitcoin has increased very rapidly, if bitcoin decreased what should be done?, whether the investors will lose? Roll Eyes

Just relax and see the price go up again. It is just normal for bitcoin to move rapidly that's why no need to panic but this maybe just applicable to those who already experience how the price moves but for those new investors, it would be so stressful to watch the price moves a thousand dollars in just a short span of time. It would only be a paper loss if they do not sell but if they panic sell then that would be a realized loss. If one would invest in bitcoin, they should know first the risk involved because it is highly speculative.

925  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Turning crypto into fiat or is that even nessesary anymore! on: December 10, 2017, 09:39:06 AM
It is still necessary for me to convert crypto to fiat because there are expenses that cannot be paid directly with bitcoin such as groceries. The supermarket does not accept bitcoin yet and if ever they would, I would not use bitcoin for now because confirmation will take some time and the fee is high which is not practical when purchasing small value items. From time to time, I convert my earnings in here to fiat using our local exchange platform that is license by the central bank so I can directly send my money to my bank account which is pretty convenient.
926  Economy / Economics / Re: impacts off cryptocurrency on: December 10, 2017, 09:23:16 AM
what are the social and economic impacts cryptocurrencies have ?
and how will this affect third world and poor countries because of their limited access to internet and modern technology?

Cryptocurrency has been a big help for people living in third world countries because wages are low that's why finding a second source of income is not new and earning in cryptocurrencies is a good option to do so. Doing the signature campaigns and other campaigns may not be that much for those developed countries but for those living in third world, it is a big help because it can supplement their income.

There are students who were able to study without their parents financial support because they are already earning for themselves and those that are having day jobs have another source of income which is a big help to pay the bills. Those who are unemployed were able to find have an income and others even consider it as their full time job now because income from earning bitcoin is bigger than the income they earn from day jobs. Internet may be a problem but for the people who are willing to do something, there would always be a way.

931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to explain BTC to family members? on: December 09, 2017, 10:37:57 AM
I explained to my family that BTC is a currency, and my father said, "just like the dollar?" Shocked

I just explain to them that it is an internet money without physical form and you can trade with it like stocks. My family is not really into technology because we are from the province where internet connection is poor and the people living there have simple life. I am living now in the city and has good internet connection that's why I can easily access the sites but it is hard to explain to my family in detail because they are not interested in it. They just told me that as long as it is not scam then it's a good way of earning money.
932  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-08] Here's Why Bitcoin Has Gone Ballistic on: December 08, 2017, 08:36:09 AM
You probably never heard of bitcoin a year ago, but just overnight it went through the roof - several times.

In a dizzying and volatile ride on Thursday (Dec 7), the price of a single bitcoin crossed US$20,000 on some exchanges, meaning it broke though six US$1,000 markers in 24 hours from US$14,000 at the start. It then fell more than 20 per cent to just over US$15,000 before rising to above US$16,000 on Friday morning.

Bitcoin, the world's most in-demand cryptocurrency, began the year trading at below US$1,000. It hit US$5,000 in October, but the real acceleration started in late November.

So what's been fuelling bitcoin's wild and meteoric rise in the past few weeks?

1. ENTRY OF HEDGE FUNDS

News in late October that it's not just retail investors interested in the cryptocurrency. CNBC reported that more than 120 hedge funds are focused solely on bitcoin and other digital currencies.

2. INCLUSION IN FUTURES TRADING

Arguably the biggest reason for bitcoin's spectacular rise.

On the last day of October, the world's largest futures exchange CME announced it would launch bitcoin futures. It was followed quickly by Cboe Global Markets whose bitcoin futures start trading on Sunday. CME will launch its futures next week. There was even talk that Nasdaq would get into the action.

The move by two respected exchanges to include bitcoin - which has no intrinsic value and no backing from a government or commodity - was a big step towards giving the cryptocurrency more credence as a legitimate and tradeable asset class.

The move is also expected to bring many new players into the market. With a futures contract, banks can bet on the price of bitcoin without the complications of holding bitcoins, as the New York Times noted. Some banks have already signed up with the two exchanges and can immediately begin trading bitcoin contracts.

The futures contract will also allow investors to short bitcoin, or bet on the price going down, which has been hard to do until now. Bloomberg reported last week that many hedge funds are waiting on the sidelines, preparing to use futures to short or trade against bitcoin.

3. BUBBLE BEHAVIOUR

Over and over, the bitcoin frenzy is being compared to speculative bubbles that have spectacularly burst in the past - from the tulip mania of 1600s to the the dot.com bubble of 1995.

Warnings are rife of the irrational mentality that can take over in speculative bubbles.

The frenzy among ordinary retail investors - not just mom-and-pop but young and old - is perhaps nowhere more sharp than in South Korea, dubbed ground zero for the global cryptomania.

The craze has spread so far that, in South Korea, bitcoin is trading at a premium of about 16 per cent over prevailing international rates, and its prime minister recently warned that cryptocurrencies might corrupt the nation's youth.

934  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best paid Telegram group? on: December 08, 2017, 05:28:04 AM
I am looking for a good Telegram group that has a proven track record of accurate calls. Price does not matter if it is a good group. Not looking for one of these groups that says they are up XXX% in the past 2 days or that are run by some 18 year olds that shouts "Lambos to the moooooon", every minute. Only serious groups.

Any suggestions?

I don't trust a telegram group that only shows the result and just tell you to buy at a certain price and sell at a certain price. By the time the admin announced the coin, all of the members would hurry up to buy the coin and maybe your group are just the ones who push the price higher. You can try trading view, there are so many traders out there showing their charts and explaining why you should buy at that price and sell at that price. At least you have some some reference and while getting some tips of a coin that has potential to increase, you also learn from them and later on you can do it yourself without depending your trades from others. What's more good about this is it's free!
935  Economy / Economics / Re: This post was made in 2013. Guys i'm scared on: December 08, 2017, 04:59:12 AM
If this will happen then just save your bitcoin now and think of ways to not disclose it to authorities when 2020 comes. There are so many predictions appearing from the past and some of them have been able to predict it correctly. Do you really believe that a person can time travel? With his story, will the governments not do something about it now given that there is a possibility they will be wipe out. Besides, I think that bitcoin will become a store of value instead of a currency because of the high transaction fees but maybe in the future there will be a solution to this.

938  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Pump and Dump. How to make a profit? on: December 07, 2017, 05:58:33 AM
Hi. How can you recognize pumps and dumps for any coin? Is there any universal indicators? I mean to predict it. Maybe there are some non-market signs (banners, posts, etc.)
Should I avoid pumps and dumps or try to earn some money?
It would be interesting to know your opinion, guys! Thanks

You should avoid pumps and dumps because those are just the strategy of the ones who administered it to profit. There would be times that you can profit from it because you just got lucky but over all you would be on the losing side. There are many people who are using bots to detect unusual activity of the coins so they have edge over others who just wait for the coins to be announce and around half of those trading in exchanges are bots so you are already at a losing side if you do it manually.

Usually, the coins that are pump are those that have low volume for a few weeks around 20 btc or below so that they can easily pump the price. Just be warned that if you are trading in Bittrex and they can detect that you are participating in pumps and dumps then there is a possibility for your account to be suspended.
939  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-06] Big Fish Entering Bitcoin Waters: All Eyes on December 10 and 18 on: December 06, 2017, 12:28:49 PM
Generally, joy and optimism are awaiting the new market players that will join the Bitcoin realm, their pockets full of fresh cash to invest and add to the demand, when futures are traded by CME and CBOE on Dec. 10 and 18.

The news from CME even sent Bitcoin price to a new all-time high of $7,000; thus it is unsurprising that the small fry on forums and around the dinner table are excited about the prospect of new investors coming in on the backs of futures.

But futures are scary things, and perhaps there is also a dark side coming to the Bitcoin market as now people can profit just as much from the drive diving as they can from it rising. There could be some big swells from some big whales on its way.

How futures can affect Bitcoin
As it stands, the man with a fraction of a coin is as happy as the man with 100 the way the Bitcoin market operates at the moment. The more the price rises, the happier each of them are. Higher price means better returns and more money for nothing.

There is no need for the big name players in the Bitcoin market to cause too many waves as they are currently profiting happily from the way things are going. However, futures introduce a different type of playing field as whales, and these are whales that make Bitcoin whales look like shrimp, have an incentive to drive the market down.

Cash markets, such as Bitcoin, are there to serve investors, but a futures market is something different, it is there for people to hedge against risk. It is a pessimistic way to invest, and it bases itself on profiting when things go bad.

A farming analogy
Futures are seen a lot in farming as crops are subject to so much volatility (from pricing and markets to weather and pests) so a farmer will sell his corn on a futures market to guarantee the price when he does eventually get his crop to market.

At the same time, someone who wants the farmer’s crops will buy that futures contract in the hopes of securing a price should the price of the crops rise. Both of these players are now hedging on opposite ends and a balance is essentially struck.

Back to Bitcoin
Understanding futures like that, and applying the model to Bitcoin, there is a clear gap.

Miners sell their ‘futures contract’ to make sure they get the price for the coins they intend to mine in the future. Bitcoin holders are doing the same sort of thing in order to hedge their downside.

But now, there is no hedger on the buying side, so there is no equilibrium and the pressure is asserted on the downside. There is balance coming from the buyers, the speculators, but that equilibrium has always been met by a strong Bull market.

Now, there is a reason to be a strong bear with Bitcoin futures as three is profit to be made hedging against Bitcoin. Those entering the market, flush with never before seen cash, could enter as a bear and do all they can to drop the market.

Because the market is still just in its infancy, there is a chance that bears could overwhelm it, and still profit.
