I will not comment too much on the players currently owned by Chelsea because indeed they have spent a lot of money to get them, it should be proven by their good play on the field. If Graham Potter really wants to build Chelsea from the ground up then he should have made good progress because I think that was enough time for him when he first stepped foot at Chelsea. If not doing this season, at least they have a clear and structured process of what he's going to do next season.
Their defence is not a strong one in my opinion. They need to make a good signing in defence and by good I mean someone who has been a crucial player of the previous team and not a young potential one. They need someone strong who can play along with Thiago Silva sharing defensive duties. They still can get on track but it will take time. I can see them getting creative again which is good. I think slowly they will get back on track in a month. We’ve expected changes the first few weeks Graham Potter was signed as the coach of Chelsea but till date we haven’t seen a significant change or improvement in the play of the whole team. The January transfer window came and was allowed to sign more players, and we are yet to still see the significant impact of the new signings. How much longer can the team wait to see changes, he had better improve or he might face the same fate as Thomas Tuchel soon. Things are quite problematic for Real Madrid in the La Liga right now. The 8-point difference is quite big to close up against a very consistent Barcelona I mean.
Real Madrid just don't have any other choice than continuing to win as many games as possible for a long time as of now. Because Barcelona literally don't lose any points here. They still win even the games in which they have big difficulties in showing their usual performance. The game against Villarreal was a great example for this surely. But I believe their main concentration should be on the La Liga still - at least unless the point difference gets bigger than this.
I don't think, Barcelona will allow anything that will make them to drop down from first position in the la Liga league competition table than to do what will make them to remain in unity to maintain the position till the end of the tournament. Man these Australian and English Women's teams are strong as hell.
They are just bossing around and belting every single team in this tournament. Fair to say they both will play in the Finals unless India wins against the Aussies in the semis.
Both England and Australia had full fledged franchise T20 leagues for women, when boards such as the BCCI were completely ignoring the women's game. And that is being reflected in the world cup as well. BCCI initially tried delaying tactics, by organizing a few meaningless exhibition matches in between the men's IPL. They decided to go for the WPL only after Rameez Raja announced the launch of WPSL. But it will take some time for the Indian women to catch up with the Poms and the Aussies. And the quality of women's domestic cricket in India remains appalling. Women cricket is dominated by England, Australia, and New Zealand only. Every other country, including India, is no match against these 3 big teams. I think WIPL will do same impact what men IPL has done to Indian cricket team. These leagues are just to generate revenue and have very little for betterment of cricket. Ramiz Raja game is over and so is WPSL. South Asia is male dominated society and not much attention is given to women sports. This highlighted part is a wrong assumption. England and Australia are the strongest sides, especially the Aussies are almost unbeatable. After that India ranks 3 and they performed quite well since 2017 wc, they were finalists. New Zealand and South Africa are better in terms of fitness level but they are behind in pecking order.
I guess Australia + India + England + South Africa are looking favorites to play in the semis.

I wouldnt say Sinner was unstable, he was actually quite stable in his mentality as was
Medvedev actually.
The match for me was actually closer than the second and third sets suggest, Sinner
in the end had far too many unforced errors which I am putting down to the long rallies,
medvedev is comfortable enough hitting baseline exchanges, sinner was too but
they took their toll on him in the end.
Great match all the same, I didnt bet on either.
It might be the experience that plays into the hands of Medvedev when it comes to three set games with long rallies, but I just saw that Sinner won his first tournaments at age 19 onwards. He is not that different from Medvedev and also played a couple of great tournaments already. He seems as if he has more in the tank and is still developing a a player. I just remember this quarter final against Djokovic in Wimbledon, which was a five set game and Sinner played like a maniac in first two sets but then lost it big time in the third/fourth/fifth. Djokovic is probably not the best example as he frequently turns around a 0:2 in sets, but still that was so high quality tennis that I thought if he can keep that level for an entire game, he could probably be a no.1 player one day. Before this match, this final, Medvedev beat Sinner four times. And was not beaten even once. So of course the advantage was with Medvedev. It was only the form that gave Sinner a chance. Sinner was unbeaten for seven matches straight. But that was not enough to give him a win against Medvedev in the final. Sinner actually had the first set. At that time I thought it was going to be a win for him. But it was a good comeback by Medvedev. He did not give any chance to his opponent in the next two sets. The fact that Medvedev beat Sinner four times before this final doesn't really say that much as Sinner is so young. At some point the turnaround can happen when a player has the potential for it. I could just compare this to Djokovic vs. Federer head to head. Guess what, Djokovic started with four losses against Federer and then slowly turned the statistics around. Another weird example is the final phase for Federer against Nadal, which ended with a 7-1 winning streak for Federer and nobody expected that. So yes, the statistics are an indicator. I am not saying they are meaningless. But Sinner will have his winning game against Medvedev soon. It is not like Medvedev always beats him with such an ease that we can say Sinner will never have a chance. @mv1986 I don’t think the earlier defeats mattered to Sinner, because he did won the first set which showed he was determined to beat Medvedev but unfortunately he felt short in the second and third set. Furthermore Sinner can only improve from this defeat, and I believe that when he faces Medvedev again he’ll most probably beat him because I’m sure that he’ll be hurting badly after constantly losing to him. |
