921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: The Cypherfunks[FUNK]! Internet band & coin. For the musicians! New bounties up. on: March 17, 2014, 05:03:43 AM
So as I see it we should add a few more bounties:

1) Android Wallet - Obvious for obvious reasons.

2) IRC Channel Bot - For #cypherfunks on freenode.
Functions should at least include: !tip !exchanges !bounties !pools !tunes !price !community

3) Youtube Tipper Bot - Either through a G+ page and subdomains that run the wallets (ala Coinye Bot here) OR like how the Doge Chrome Extension (found here)

4) CypherFunk Flyers - Should be very appealing to the eye with brief explanations of the concept of Cypherfunk and cryptocurrencies in general. Should also have relevant links and a QR code of the most relevant link (so we can tape them up in public places!)

5) Various Desktop Wallet "Themes" or "Skins" - This is so each Cypherfunk user can customize the wallets to their favorite type of music. For example, I love house and drum and bass music so it would be really cool to switch to a theme that features this type of music.

6) Well-written articles and blogs about The Cypherfunks - For positive exposure

7+) Something brand new that no other cryptocurrency has done/tried before - The best way to stand out in this sea of altcoins is to experiment with a new service or tool that no other coin has tried before.

8 ) Get our first well-known band, dj, producer, etc. to join the Cypherfunks and release a track!

I don't have photoshop skills but I made a logo concept in Paint. If anyone likes it they can spice it up in a better editor.

The concept is to have input nodes representing the decentralized community coming together and producing one collective output (the soundwaves).

Love where this is going! Added new the source to the p2pool to the frontpage and the link to the IRC.

I'm going to focus on reading up on the different retargeting algorithms (besides KGW), working on the android wallet & looking at a pamphlet.

Been speaking to bjmillican4 on figuring out a one-liner and a paragraph to use to get people excited. Here's a paragraph I wrote.

---

"The Cypherfunks" is a network of musicians working individually & together to make music under the same name. A cryptocurrency [FUNK] acts as "stock" in the band.

Both the currency & band are completely decentralized. It is a grand experiment in permission-less, internet scale innovation in music, collaboration, and technology.

By creating music for this internet band and sharing it, musicians increase the network effect & subsequent demand for the currency. As contributors, musicians can be tipped FUNK by other members. FUNK can be exchanged into your currency of choice through various online exchanges. In the future, you will be able to use FUNK directly to buy products that assist in music making, and eventually anything else you can think of.

The long-term goal is to have a community of musicians use FUNK as currency to help each other continuously create great new music.

---

How about that? Any thoughts?

I'll take a look and re-edit after my errands. really procrastinating  now Smiley

Well this is a cool coin, while the coin isn't innovative (not an insult), it really has the possible community acceptance. Here's my thoughts:

1. It could use a visual refresh (logos, wallet)
2. DO NOT rush to exchanges, refuse them for a while if possible. It does not hurt a coin no to be immediately listed (look at FLT ffs, I was solo'ing when it soft launched right up to BTER surprise listing)
3. Focus on community building, the fact that this isn't a marketing tool to make $$ like Songcoin
4. Use that CoinDesk article more in the OP. It's really good and from a great source. I'd put these in the OP:

From CoinDesk (http://www.coindesk.com/coins-for-bands-disrupt-music-industry/):

Quote
Altcoins targeting specific communities are starting to emerge. This month sees the introduction of two separate cryptocurrencies aimed at musicians. Songcoin and FUNK each take different political and technical approaches to helping the independent music economy.

Coindesk on Songcoin:

Quote
This seems to turn it into a marketing play, rather than a technological innovation. Songcoin will be premined, with the premined proportion amounting to far less than 50%, said Franks, although Pimovi hasn’t decided what proportion will be premined yet. The premine will be used for initial giveaways to promote the coin (known as ‘faucets’, in the cryptocurrency world).

Songcoin focusing on $$$:

Quote
Naturally, Franks sees big things ahead for the coin. “We are closely watching Auroracoin with its $230 million market cap along with its distribution designed for Iceland’s population. We see the music listening population as being much larger obviously,” he said.

FUNK is the community-driven alternative:

Quote
Anyone can join the Cypherfunks, says de la Rouviere, who describes participants as a “decentralized band”. All musicians have rights to everything produced, and it can remixed and shared by participants in the collective. It is essentially crowdsourced, open sourced music.

Quote
The coin will not be premined, he said. “Everyone needs equal stake in the idea for it flourish fully.”

This is a very good post!

Definitely Android Wallets, fresh logo, and Coindesk article are highlights.

Community building through Reddit and Youtube and IRC bots will be a nice start.
Advertise in real life by handing out flyers and putting up flyers in public places or in music shops and bars!

Advertise the Cypherfunks Soundcloud page.

We can do this guys. Music is a powerful uniter!

I'm also thinking this coin could benefit from a sleeker logo.

Something with a vinyl record maybe (since those are round like a coin)?

Or headphones? Headphones are a universal music symbol.

These are some basic ideas to springboard off of:

Obviously it would be fun to see how to incorporate the Cypherfunk element into a logo like these.
926  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒[CGA] Cryptographic Anomaly - The Elusive Coin -Update Before Block 64k!!!⚒ on: March 16, 2014, 05:59:15 AM
I deposited 41 CGA to Poloniex but it hasn't shown up yet after a few hours. What's going on here?
Same here. No worries, just be patient until Poloniex is on the right chain, then they should show up.
Remember - when you transfer coins it is not like your regular coin wallet where you give money to another person
and if he runs off with it, it is lost. When you send crypto to an address, what really happens is that you register
in the block chain that the sending wallet's address is debited with the amount, while the receiving wallet's address
is being credited.
So, no matter whether the receiving wallet is online or not, the transaction is registered in the block chain.
As soon as a wallet that uses the Private key belonging to the receiving address is synchronised to the block chain,
it will show the credit that is in the block chain, that is how you can "receive" the coins, even though the transaction
really is only in the block chain. I regularly send coins to my wallet without having it open on my laptop. When I
synchronise my wallet a day later, it will pick up the info from the block chain and show it to me - your wallet is
essentially only a user interface into the block chain, showing transaction made for the address(es) that are present
in your wallet.
As long as the transaction of sending your 41 coins was registered in the block chain (use the explorer to see them,
you can see the amount and the receiving address and whether there were confirmation) then they are in the
block chain and Poloniex will eventually show them.
As I said, I have the same issue - the block with my transfer of 5 hours ago to Poloniex has over 100 confirmations in the block chain,
so it is just a matter of waiting till Poloniex synchronizes their wallet to the correct chain, then the coins will show up there.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. You've given me hope. I thought any time I send coins to a forked address they were lost forever. This is the first time that has happened. Glad to know they should be recoverable Smiley

I think it would be really cool to make a flyer that people could print out and pass around at festivals in the summer. I'm personally going to at least 3 of them (3-days each), so I could pass a ton of flyers out! Short, simple, snazzy, and informative! Anyone good at designing?

Ok, the tipbot is up and running in the main thread BUT it looks like a Tipbot requires Reddit Gold at $30/yr to run. I'm not in a place where I can afford to pay that, and I'm honestly not interested in giving Reddit my banking information anyway.

Don't use the tipbot, as it can't get messages when it's mentioned. You can register, send funds and withdraw, but can't send to anyone because the tipbot can't pick up when it's been mentioned until Reddit receive hard cash. Seriously lame. Worked on this all day.

Sorry to hear that.  Thanks for the work.  It will work out.

All someone has to do is buy Reddit gold for "FUNKTipBot" using Bitcoin. Anyone can do it. $30 a year. This will all be fine.

Can anyone else verify that other tip bots require Reddit Gold?

Also, you can buy Reddit Gold with Bitcoin.

Has the Windows Binary been (re)moved?

I'm getting a 404 Not Found error when I try to open http://cganomaly.com/downloads/CGA_1.3.0.1_WIN.exe
Just replaced it with a newer version, we were getting some forks this morning so I added a checkpoint and another node to help the network get on track.

http://cganomaly.com/downloads/CGA_1.3.0.2_WIN.exe

Got it, Thanks. Perfect!

Hrm, possibly not perfect. I'm getting these error messages again:

"errors" : "Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade.

My Wallet is also only Syncing up to block 60256 out of 60295

I can try deleting my chain and re-syncing

Took a while, but a complete re-sync fixed it. Now on block 60362

I deposited 41 CGA to Poloniex but it hasn't shown up yet after a few hours. What's going on here?

There was a fork and poloniex wallet was on the wrong side.

fucking really? goddamnit i'm done

938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [New wallet][CHA] CharityCoin - The World's First solely charitable coin on: March 15, 2014, 11:51:10 PM
On the Charity addresses I see the inputs but I also see outputs. Where are these outputs going? Do you have some type of "exchange receipt" if you are cashing these out and sending checks to the charities? I applaud the Charity address transparencies but there are no output transparencies as far as I can tell.

Hi neuroMode.

The outputs where minimal so far and spent on 1 donation, bounties and the giveaway . I am preparing a spreadsheet with the addresses these where sent, reason and the name of the charity, bountyhunter or giveaway claimer  for full disclosure.
No charity coins will ever be "cashed out". They are meant to be donate and disbursed as CHAs.
My apologies on the delay in preparing this spreadsheet. Although we have a good team involved, the workload is immense.
If you or anyone else would like to participate in a deeper level and volunteer your skills, it would be greatly appreciated! Smiley

Thank you for the reply. I'll see if I can assist in any way. looking forward to the spreadsheet
939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Coinye [KOI/COYE] Gift Card and Paper Wallet Designs! + Need Android Wallet on: March 15, 2014, 07:19:04 PM
Coinye was taken off Cryptorush because Cryptorush was sold and the new owners put in place a new copyright rule and removed Coinye.

The original owner made Cryptorush with Coinye in mind, that's why it still stayed on Cryptorush even after they received C&Ds. Now that it's in new hands they do not Coinye's interests at heart.

We must begin another Coinye Exodus. We are the persecuted Jews of the altcoin world.
