9221  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: HELP. fan TFC1212DE with S5 on: May 28, 2015, 06:10:55 AM
excuse the delay, I speak of the fans who do not start, and a 4-pin fan, when I connect to the controller, the fan does not start, remains firm Cry

Do you have anyway to test the fan?   IE plugging it in a molex to 4 pin adapter or something?

I would like you to be able to test.  My next suggestion would be checking pinout to make sure they are the same.
9222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 + 3D printied mods on: May 28, 2015, 06:08:41 AM
Out of curiosity what is time and cost to do this?  It is very very nice.

Also can I ask what 3d printer do you use for this?  And kudos for releasing designs that is above and beyond.
9223  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Ckpool Solo Setup mark 2 - An alternative on: May 28, 2015, 06:03:53 AM
So far no one has come forward & said they want to join the group.

I have an email address setup so no one has to come thru this forum at all, Everyone is pointing out security risks, I believe if u just email me this would best the best for everyone.

Im not going to pass on anyones information

It isn't just that. People will not just trust someone out of the blue. Just like aurel said.

A lot of trust goes with a project like this. I approached philipma1957 about doing solo mining as a pair because i trusted him to pay me if we hit which I never had a worry that he would, so I let him hold the coins and do the setup on his Nicehash account.

That is pretty much the only reason you have to overcome now.

This is all very true.  I understand you want to run one of these, but most will not trust you.  And it's nothing personal just with this community it takes A LOT to gain trust.  You have to earn widespread trust before you will ever be able to run something like this.

I suggest waiting a few weeks and see if someone else runs one.   I don't want to be mean just chances of people trusting you are slim.

Also I do have a referral link for nicehash/westhash.  If anyone ever does this if they sign up under me I would be able to provide some free mining time.   So if anyone does do that this keep that in mind.  With huge rentals it might be a nice bonus.   I would have to look into it more as I have not used it. But if a future group is interested I can look more in depth into it.
9224  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What's the best hardware, that's not vaporware? on: May 28, 2015, 05:58:43 AM
The upside to something like the S5 (or SP20) is that it should be economically viable for a longer period of time when difficulty starts rising. The S3 will drop into "not paying the electric bill" sooner. My sense is that the last few months of "small to no" difficulty increases will end in the next couple months, and we'll see another ratcheting up of difficulty. I hope not like the brutal days of 10-20% increases every two weeks.

As always it depends on your definition of "best". None of the suggestions are obviously "perfect".

If you can get a ROI on s3 really nothing else matters.  Upside of having better gear does not come into effect.  Once they hit ROI they are making pure profit.  If they can achieve pure profit quicker on S3 they should go there.

This is for very few and those with extremely low electricity.  For them S3 might be the ticket.  For most with normal electricity S5 and others are better.
9225  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New Hardware June 2015? on: May 28, 2015, 05:56:13 AM
What is BEST hardware for someone new?  And why?

wait for a bit i heard the s6 or s7 will be out in june-july.
more hashing power = easier ROI but we do have to consider the difficulty level too.

This is a guess.  We really do not know when S6 or S7 will be released.

Whenever they do release it's safe to say they will follow releasing of S6 and wait a bit till S7.   But no one knows for sure when this will be.   If they follow suit S7 would need new chips, or more efficiency out of S5 chips.
9226  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: Results of The Best Miner is…Contest [Updated 26/05/15] on: May 28, 2015, 03:57:23 AM

I will forever cherish my Most Creative title as a miner inventor.  Thank you Sfards and if a lava lamp miner ever does come into existence, I hope I will be considered as a beta tester. Smiley Best of luck to you!

I give you huge credit on this.  It was a idea that made us all smile I think. It was one of those ideas that is crazy enough it could actually even work.

I hope to see someone mod a miner to provide heat to a lava lamp.  I will be honest you have me thinking about putting a old lava lamp I know of in my pile of stuff behind a miner to see if I can get the heat. But I don't think I can achieve the hotness (which is normally a good thing Smiley ).

lavalamp bulbs are 25W in the majority of lamps. If you used a 24/7 heat source and deposited most heat to the lava (rather than the sides of the metal base) it could be functional with 15-20W worth of mining power, possibly just some stick miners glued to the bottom part of the glass base

I am sad to report a Avalon Nano usb stick was not enough to make it work.  I was able to keep it in wax state (used bulb to warm it at first).

But it would just stay in wax state in liquid form at bottom.  It was not producing enough heat to have it going up to top of lava lamp.   I guess I will have to look into more heat maybe tomorrow to see if that will do it.  I was running the Avalon Nano pretty hot for it.
9227  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to get highest free BTC? on: May 28, 2015, 03:42:46 AM
try to look for betchain.tm

they are a casino site who offers free BTC

but i don't know how legit they are so make a research first before joining

A casino is a horrible idea on getting BTC.   And recommending a site you don't know if they are legit is also not so great.

I would say avoid unless knowing they are legit.  It's kinda odd to advertise a site and then say I'm not sure if they are legit.
9228  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best Cloud mining Site? on: May 28, 2015, 03:41:08 AM
i don't think cloud mining is profitable
but if you would like to try, take a look at hashnest.com or genisismining

It can be profitable. Just as regular mining can be.  But it is not without risk.

No one can guarantee ROI with difficulty changes it is just not something anyone can read future and do.  The sites that guarantee return avoid them for sure.
9229  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: what are you here for? on: May 28, 2015, 03:38:06 AM
well, about me, im here to learning more for sure, for me is basic to do that before any movement.

in the near future maybe start with trading or find a way to be payed in BTC for work.

what i willnever do is gambling, i have really bad lucky hehe.

me too iam not have luck in gambling
but i have more luck in trading Grin

oh trust me. lost 2 btc straight last night. i wish you said that before last night

I find it crazy to use online BTC gambling.  There is nothing as far a regulatory body like most normal casinos. They could change their odds very easy.

Let's say owner needs some cash nothing is there stopping him from making people lose a lot more.  Most btc casinos are trying to doge laws to be able to be used in countries it should not be offered to from them.  So is that the type of people you want to trust with your money?  I sure dont.
9230  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Circle vs Coinbase Fees Withdrawing to Bank Account. on: May 28, 2015, 03:35:00 AM
I would guess it's due to coinbase having such a loyal base including me.  But I might have to give circle a try someday.  Thanks for sharing.

It appears circle is free as far as withdrawal fees to bank - https://support.circle.com/hc/en-us/articles/202941180-What-are-deposit-withdraw-options-  That is pretty impressive I have to admit.
9231  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Summer Mining - Fans/Other summer equipment on: May 28, 2015, 03:31:42 AM
Looks like heat will cool down slightly making it a tad cooler.  I don't like the heat currently, I think new gable will really help out the stale hot air twords ceiling.

Looked at install what it will take.  I already have right sized screws (won't poke through boards and poke through siding, very important).   Also looked at install I think even though this gable fan has a nice temperature gunge I will keep old one.  It works fine just not as fancy, will take one less thing needing changed out.
9232  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: May 28, 2015, 03:27:02 AM

Truly very impressive setup.   Can you share more details about it?

Thank you for sharing looks like very clean data center setup.
9233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: May 28, 2015, 03:24:42 AM
As many suppliers as there is today for just about anything you wouldn't think it would be that much trouble. However it seems that it is so application specific there is no need for anyone to supply it to the public. I wasn't planing on salvaging anything to get a fix, and the time to do it all.

Anyway, I do appreciate the replies. It looks like I need to get more aggressive and try to clean out the melted plastic with more than a paper clip.

I believe I have some of these on hand.  If you want, and I still have some, I can dig one out for you.

If you don't mind, shoot me a PM if you have one.  Thanks.

I am still open for trade on this unit. 1:1 shipped in US.

I'd just like to say thank you to all that gave me suggestions on where to find/salvage a 90 female PCI-e connector helping me fix this. A HUGE THANK YOU to dropt for sending me a fresh replacement that has made this unit hash as it once was. It's people like him and anyone that goes out of their way to lending a helping hand to other members that really make this a great community.

Cheers!

Thank you for sharing end result.  Sadly a lot don't share end result.  But it's great to hear you got it going again!   Cool story that it was not as bad as I thought.

Best of luck mining!
9234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.319/GH & 0.51W/GH on: May 28, 2015, 03:22:57 AM
Has anyone used NiceHashe's custom firmware for the S5s? I know it runs a newer version of cgminer that the latest Bitmain one. Wonder if there are any advantages/GUI updates with the nicehash one.

Also what  they typical HW error rate or these? Im getting .1% on one and .003% on the other. Even though they are both really low one still produces almost a 1000x extra hardware errors.
I run the Nicehash FW with Westhash for both my S3 and S5 and the result is clearly superior -- I presume it's due to extranonce support!

It is due to that.  Thanks to Smit we have that option on a lot of Bitmain gear.  If you are going to mine long term on nicehash/westhash it really will make a difference on speed which leads to higher pay.

So for those pools it's a great tool.
9235  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury - Mining Lighbulb on: May 28, 2015, 03:21:35 AM
Very neat idea do you have more details?  I assume it's running wifi.  What's the efficiency on electricity?

Thanks for sharing.  Very cool.
9236  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What's the best hardware, that's not vaporware? on: May 28, 2015, 03:19:52 AM
Best  current gen "consumer" gear is currently S5, Avalon 4.1, SP20.   All of these are what I consider best efficiency of miners out currently.

The S5 will be lowest price.  Avalon is most quiet by far but is a premium price.  And SP20 only can be bought second hand at this point.
9237  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: May 17th to May 30th diff adjustment thread with promo. Picks Open! on: May 28, 2015, 03:18:15 AM

here go to http://btc.blockr.io/charts

171 on 5-17-2015  most about 95 of the blocks were last adjustment.  bitcoinwisdom still uses them for the guess in the future.

so above is 27 over norm of 144 for the day,  but only 10 for the 'real' count this adjustment.

143 5-18  -1        +9 running count
138 5-19  -6        +3
138 5-20  -6         -3
153 5-21 +9        +12
144 5-22   0        +12
110 5-23  -34      -22
145 5-24  +1       -21
141 5-25  -3        -24
144 5-26   0        -24
138 5-27  -6        -30

about 1487 made we should be at  1517

1487/1517 =  0.98022   - 1 =  -0.01977  or  (-1.977%) The real time number

https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

529 blocks left    (-1.97%) just about a perfect match  since we got past all of the last adjustment in bitcoinwisdom's prediction model

Once again not much change price at 238 usd

It is nice to see almost a negative 2 on difficultly.  This past months have been surprising with number of negatives.

And we are kinda stuck in sub 240 price.  Seems anytime in past week we get over eventually we end up in 230's once again.
9238  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best Cloud mining Site? on: May 27, 2015, 11:07:07 PM
If you are looking for legit ones only (the most trustable at least) would be hashnest/bitX by far but their ROI is nowhere considering you may have loses if a new asic is developed between the time you own the power making your much less valued.
On the other hand there are some others running for a long time but still not that trustable cause of lack of "proof" like scryptcc that can provide ROI in much less time, as well as they can run away with your money anytime and you can do nothing to sue or track them...

Cloud mining can be a very risky bet.    Sites that promise ROI in x months, or give better then true payout's are just not possible long term.

Most turn out to be ponzi schemes and run eventually with money.  It's much easier for them to make it look like it's mining then actually making a data center full of equipment.  It's sad but people are lured with amazing ROI clames, etc.

I would only go with trusted cloud mining services.   You don't want one that is going to split one day.

trusted/legit cloud mining services don't advertise with "amazing investment opportunity" or "great return on investment" bla bla bla.
mining is just not interesting at this point as being an investment.

With not being able to know difficulty change it is impossible for someone to guarantee ROI in X months like they did.

And with it being promised at 4 months it is impossible to pay for equipment, data center, employee or two, cooling, electricity, etc etc.

It boggles my mind how people would sing up with a cloud mining site like it.   I mean to guarantee no matter what 4 month ROI... that is crazy.  We could have a jump in difficulty that makes it impossible yet they can still guarantee it?
9239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: May 27, 2015, 11:01:51 PM
unbelievable. No one here reads what anybody else posted. This whole fucking board is a joke.

Why don't you guys stop farming for posts? Post some useful stuff for your signature campaigns or just stop.

The person you pointed to did not have a signature campaign on their profile.     So this comment is really inaccurate.

But in a year chances are a full member can get 1 BTC from a signature campaign.   Faucets will be pennies avoid those and other things like them.

I personally like mining.  If you have cheap electricity it can still be done at a profit.
9240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Faucet on: May 27, 2015, 10:59:00 PM
I have used 000webhost and it's fine but don't use it much long, It's much better a cheap host than a free one

Thanks!
I'll use it to get my first bucks (So that I can run a faucet investment free) and i'll use those bucks to buy a decent cheap hosting.
Which "cheap" hostings do you recommend for faucets?

I don't think it's possible to create a faucet for free. You need to deposit BTC into it in the first place.

I used to own a hosting company but I stopped it. I heard that iPage is good, but I've never used them.

With needing BTC your faucet will have to have a "hot wallet".  This makes it a possible target, as it is money in it.

I highly suggest putting enough for a day or two at a time.  Do not put a ton of BTC i a hot wallet being used on a faucet or any website really.
