9221  Other / Meta / Re: Is there some sort of Godfatherism in the forum? on: July 12, 2021, 09:02:58 PM
I have gotten accustomed to the bitcointalk forum to certain degree since my time here. I have noticed something in the forum, I won't be pointing fingers at anyone but I believe most will agree with me that there is a high probability factor that people give merit to those who merited them in the past, therefore creating a merit ring. You can easily discover such people from their merit summary. This could simply be a coincidence or I'm just imagining things. But if this is true, then such individuals are cheating the system and us unfair to others who take time to put in the work to develop good discussions and topics. Reading this there is no clear or postulated indicator that credits a post merit worthy. The system only demands quality spots, and quality posts is subjective to the reader. I think this is misused by those farming accounts. Without the merit system, I can't imagine what the forum would look like. There won't even be any interesting subjects to talk about just shit posts flooding every board.

Nah the problem is your interpretation.

I have been here since 2012 I know a few hundred posters very well.  I don't know you very well at all.

So if I see your name I won't go to click on you. Unless the thread title looks interesting.

I clicked here today because the title caught my eye.

This thread is short right now and I can tell you I know 85% of the posters on it.

They know me and if they like what I say I will get a point/merit. I could not care less about merits anymore I have 1000's of them.  Many earned. Plus 1000 given since I was here a long time. I know I write good posts. So if it was always a merit system from 2012 I would likely have earned 2000 not the 1000 they gave us. legendary members. I liked the title enough to give you a merit. SO I will now read your posts and see if you should get more points.  Its hard to catch my eye if you are a newbie but if you look you will see I gave more than 100 newbies their first  merited

Edit: I just read all 43 of your posts.

You write really well.
So well I would say you are an alt and not  a newbie.
But I did promise you a merit for the title of this thread. So I gave it to you.

And checking the posters here I know 8 of them I know they effort good work and I know that I have given all of them a merit or 2.

I also know they have given me merits.
As for the op your english posts are really good.  and my wife helped me with your spanish posts.  You do a lot of quality posts. Really good ones. I will be looking for your name the next few weeks.

buddy still slides along in the 32-34 slot.

lets see if he wears it out tonight.

Depending on how deep you are into the nonsense, sometimes it can take a bit of focus to ween ur lil selfie from ...

 appreciate... Perhaps?  perhaps?

That's a start... you seem to be in your early stages, but it likely would be better practice if you present your internal dialogue about such stupid-ass shitcoin privately, in order that by the time you come to this here thread, you don't need to mention such shitcoin(s), except perhaps in passing.  We (perhaps royal?) be talking about king daddy here.

Rome was not built in a day.

True ... monetary system.

Bitcoin is not special in the sense of increasing in fiat value, take a look at all the other assets out there vs the fiat currency. It's just that Bitcoin is a small market so growth is going to maximise returns compared to other assets hence we will get richer than others. And, in a world where goverments are going all 1984 on us, Bitcoin has that other benefit of not being able to be confiscated.

If you have been in bitcoin for about s.. but if you have a goal of the wife to stop working before you, accomplishing that would be showing that you are getting closer and closer to "fuck you" status.

We're going to be sideways at $33k until October... I have the most terrible feeling...

You are wrong quite frequently, so there is that angle, too.   Wink

If we stay in the 32-34 groove with very low diff rise.
Would not that be the definition of stable price level.
Many said this time is different.

So a six month flat like line for price say 32-36k and diff fluxing down to 13.5 and slowly back to 17,5 by october seems more and more likely.  lack of chips = no selling op for asic builders

Like it or not bitmain is a 4way whale

gear building
gear sales
self mining
cloud mining ops with OPM

and of course none of us know their coin holdings anymore.

They used to have over 200k coins
9224  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s19 pro hashboard seems to be faulty on: July 12, 2021, 02:18:44 PM
Hello everyone,

I purchased the Antminer s19 pro last week and it arrived 2 days ago.
when I start it up, it looks like 1 of the hash boards doesn't work well.
These are the lines from the log of the miner that are related to this issue:

2021-07-09 06:56:47 Chain[0]: find 114 asic, times 0
2021-07-09 06:56:54 Chain[1]: find 109 asic, times 0
2021-07-09 06:57:03 Chain[1]: find 109 asic, times 1
2021-07-09 06:57:11 Chain[1]: find 109 asic, times 2
2021-07-09 06:57:12 Chain 1 only find 109 asic, will power off hash board 1
2021-07-09 06:57:20 Chain[2]: find 114 asic, times 0

In addition, I see that only 2 hash boards out of the 3, are mining.

The mining value is 72 TH/s where it should be 110 TH/s

Please also see screenshots from the Miner's Dashboard:

Can someone please advise how to fix this issue?

Thanks
Shai
.

Return it for warranty service.  The chips are not soldered properly.

Good for miners
Good for hodling
Good for DCA and Hodling.

So follow the above

But if you trade a lot be very careful.
9226  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Possible covert mining attack (in progress???) on: July 12, 2021, 01:22:57 PM
The main difference that you can gain much much more than just the block reward with the long term attack. Imagine if you hidden mine your longer chain for two weeks. Under that two weeks you can send your real bitcoin to an exchange and withdraw the FIAT or exchange bitcoin for USDC, Monero, etc. That's all on the public chain.

On your hidden chain you send the bitcoin back to yourself to spend the input TXU. So when you publish your longer chain you get your coins back ....

And let's stop there.
Because the moment you do this the value of those coins will drop if not to zero pretty closeby it, imagine 4 weeks of trasanctions getting rolled over, who the hell do you think will use this coin, all aspects of security are destroyed, once this attack happens is clear another one is possible two so everyone will simply dump.
So you will end up with the coins/fiat that you exchanged first, worthless coins after the attacks and worthless mining gear as the reward will plummet too in $ terms.
At this point, you're at a loss.

Financial attacks make no sense at this level, the way you picture it this would be an attack to kill the coin and that's it, after such a thing the is no way out of it, who do you think will deal with it anymore? You buy coins at an ATM and 3 weeks later you have no coins? You sold 100k$ worth of stuff and suddenly you have nothing? You traded some shitcoins for BTC and you end up with zero? What about all the miners who have mined at zero income for a month?

Do you really think there will be something after all this chaos?

well it could easily be used to kill

BCH
BSV
Xec

or any sha 256 alt.

it is not easy to do for btc.

and op is fantasying to think it would be.  But with good old free speech he is allowed his idea.

Actually the real damage is not what he is saying but that hash was dropped 1/2 by shutting down cloud mining due to most cloud contracts have the we can fuck you when we want to clause.  It has clearly shown that a large builder/ miner/cloud company can 1/2 the hash rate when it wants to. and that it can make sure they have a running farm now earning 2x the coins it did when the diff was 25.04t

To me this has shaken a bit of faith in all coins as it was also done to LTC/DOGE. so the 3 largest asic backed coins BTC LTC/DOGE were played and played hard.

Everything here is confirmable except for the size of Bitmain's farms not in China.
This clearly shows a weakness in the asics due to the amount of control bitmain can do over the hash rate.

Lots of chips flood the market with gear.= yes been done more than once.
no chips = shut the hash off yes been done right now.

there are some people that may work on it for you.  you likely need to reflow some chips.
9229  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: building a mynode rasp pi on: July 12, 2021, 10:05:14 AM
Thanks for answers
So I did the full kit without a ssd from them.

Added my own ssd.  Saved a few bucks. As I had an ssd on hnd

I am now doing the amazon 8gb kit added the software and an ssd.  This was 333 usd vs 339 usd but the rasp pi is 8gb model with a fan in a plastic case.
It is quicker easy enough to assemble. Fan keeps it cooler. I am up to block 402000 this download will be under 3 days maybe 2 .

... but I agree Branson is full of marketing BS, I think you probably have to do a full orbit of the planet to claim to have "been into space"

Yeah, and stay there a few days too in order to get a bit of a feel for it.

A few times I had been to the Phoenix airport (like changing planes, etc etc), and I did not really claim to have been to Phoenix based on those airport visits..

I was also at the Taiwan airport (twice for like an hour each time), but I hardly even would claim to have been to China (or Taiwan) based on that.

I also remember one strange prank when I was a teenager to have claimed to have been to Canada.. when I drove across the border (with a friend) and then drove back, and we drove to a city, inside the border, and our drive was a bit more than an hour in each direction (no documents needed back then).. and I am even having troubles claiming to have been to Canada based on that stint of ONLY really seeing the highway for right around two hours.

buddy is expanding the slot from 32-34 to 32-35

Actually think we have a nice week in front of us.

Don't get ahead of ur lil selfie, philip.

 Tongue Tongue Tongue

Well I did get a car to replace this one

9233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: FX processor can handle RIG? on: July 12, 2021, 02:27:34 AM
Good afternoon people , I would like to clarify a doubt , if the FX-4300 processor can handle 4 GPUS RX 570. And if it were a stronger processor, would it have a difference in mining capacity?    Huh

This is an alt coin question.

I will ask for it to be moved to alt coins

The answer is it should work and be fast enough

First question I have is why do they charge for the software it seems to be 99 usd
Second question is they have a community option which appears to be free not sure.
Third question is I paid for software and got a code much like a windows op code. cost is in the my node kit it would have been 99 alone.

So I can buy parts and make my own and pay 99 to use the software.

It is cheaper to build one from amazon parts and buy the 99 software.

1tb ssd 115
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD-MU-PA1T0B/dp/B073H552FJ/ref=sr_1_3?

8gb rasp pi kit 119
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08956GVXN/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

99 for the software.

https://www.mynodebtc.com/order_now

so 115+119+99 = 333 and it is the 8gb rasp pi

but the full kit on the website is 339 and a 4gb rasp pi

So I am figuring out the mechanics of build a rasp pi from the amazon kit  hint easy peasy

and I will start that synch.

I want to find out do I need to buy the 99 software and why.  If I must buy the license  its fine.
I want to see how much better is the 8gb rasp pi.
I can also get a 4gb rasp pi 4 kit on amazon for 65

so 65 + 115 + 99 = 279 for the exact same set up

So who has a mynode. anyone.

9235  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: building a mynode rasp pi on: July 11, 2021, 10:38:42 PM

so the oem model with 4gb fully loaded.

I am now doing the kit I made from scratch. Has 8 gb not 4gb I allowed 4gb from the hard drive to also be used thus maxing ram to 12gb.

I purchased the 99 software codes as I want this to be a full version.

this was

99 software
115 1tb ssd
119 rasp pi 4 with 8gb ram

333 total cost
9236  Bitcoin / Wallet software / mynode rasp pi 4 builds and comparisons on: July 11, 2021, 10:37:47 PM
Changed title to reflect that I did 2 builds and will do more.

build 1
1 kit from mynode rasp pi 4 prebuilt
99 USD worth of firmware/soft ware
1 samsung t5 ssd

build 2
1 kit from amazon rasp pi 4  8gb ram
1 t5 samung ssd
99 USD worth of mynode firmware/software

build 3  and build 4 to follow

So I grabbed a 4gb rasp pi kit from their website.

and I attached my own 1 tb Samsung

 https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD-MU-PA1T0B/dp/B073H552FJ/ref=sr_1_3?

I am close to done with synch almost 3 days

I have lots of questions and would like to create a FAQ thread on mynode.

9237  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 11, 2021, 08:01:43 PM
My DCA was set weekly for $50 vs 200 or 250 usd a month for last 4,5 months.

It is now set on the 1st and 15th of the month for 201 so 402 usd worth of BTC monthly for next 3 months.
