9321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin prevent crime? on: January 25, 2017, 01:16:02 PM
Sorry, let me rephrase - not prevent crime exactly, but prevent violence during criminal transactions.

In a criminal transaction Escrow would be the safest option because if the escrow jets with the money he'll have two criminals after him, not just one!
Escrow is a very nice system, enabling people to trust each other and do business irrelevant to it being criminal or not. However, escrow is not tied specifically to bitcoin, because it is just about the third party in a deal, Payment Services Directive is an example. And taking into consideration the pseudonymousity of bitcoin it would rather help crime than prevent it. Violence is prevented but crime isn't.
9322  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does bitcoin price speculation make sense on: January 25, 2017, 11:42:49 AM
There is a saying "pure speculation" for a reason, it is not derived from anything that is 100% predictable.
Of course there is no 100 predictability here. There is actually no 100% predictability anywhere. What I am asking is whether there is any % predictability? Or something below 50%? Something we can really be sure about.. For example, is there a very high probability of the price going down right after halving?
9323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In a Bitcoin Disaster where would you move your Money? on: January 24, 2017, 09:45:11 PM
I was surprised not to see many votes for litecoin! If btc dies why not to start using something very similar just as if nothing happened? Maybe, because that would mean taking the same risks with the catastrophy. But choosing fiat... This is not good that most of people choose it. It means they don't trust the whole system, the ideology and use bitcoin because it is strong and popular now.
9324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs altcoins because ... on: January 24, 2017, 09:31:13 PM
...

- Alts mostly need bitcoin to trade and some bitcoins might be always reserved / locked for this.
This one is obviously more about alts needing btc, not the opposite.
- Alts might help to generate a closed bitcoin economy
How comes? Maybe you are right but I don't get it. I thought that alternative currencies make bitcoin more open and exchangeable for something close to it and so they all become parts of one economy.
Anyway, I think it is true that bitcoin won't be alone forever, because when there is something strong it got to have an analogous strong opponent, like USD and EURO, good and bad etc.
9325  Economy / Speculation / Does bitcoin price speculation make sense on: January 24, 2017, 09:23:10 PM
I've seen a lot of threads on this forum, speculating about the price of bitcoin regularly. We make guesses but what are they based on? It might be a chart with previous fluctuations but we know that if something happened once it doesn't mean it will happen again. And yet I guess it is us, the btc users, who actually control the price by believing in it bieng worth something. What do you think?
9326  Economy / Economics / Re: Which one is good, trading or investing? on: January 24, 2017, 10:57:30 AM
We can say that trading is exchanging money in different currencies and investing is just putting all the money into some business. Nevertheless, I would say that trading is investing in currencies and I think this is a promising thing to do. Just go to yobit or some other similar site, read stuff about some currencies and try your luck.
9327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Daily use of bitcoin? on: January 24, 2017, 10:47:42 AM
Sometimes we need to wait for transaction to be confirmed around 1 hour. Such thing has never happened to me, though. A credit card gets confirmation simultaniously in the shop. With btc it's different. However, did anybody have experience of a transaction not to be confirmed after some time? Maybe we just need to take the risks.
9328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: whether bitcoin is able to change the level of a person's life for the better? on: January 23, 2017, 03:35:50 PM
I think the best here is to have a job where you recieve btc as a salary. Bitcoin is promising and it might make sense to keep it. However, we all need to sustain ourselves and so any job is needed to provide us with money. Bitcoin offers great opportunities for one to earn money and I'm really glad for that as I'm from a 3rd world country.
9329  Economy / Gambling / Re: KINGDICE.COM - Play Dice Game & Invest in bankroll on: January 23, 2017, 03:15:07 PM
They have a nice animation and the bets go fast. It's not that easy to find a faucet at first, because it is not anywhere near balance and it is just that under your bet sum you can see this tiny 'free bitcoin'. And they have a minimum amount of money to bet which is 100 Satoshis, so when you have like 70 you can't bet them and you can't use a faucet as well which means you are sort of stuck.
9330  Economy / Economics / Re: What Would Happen If Bitcoin Were Declared Illegal in the USA? on: January 23, 2017, 02:58:12 PM
Okay, let's imagine bitcoin is declared illegal. I think in America there are many people who use it and many people not satisfied with the new president, so I think it would inevitable lead to some protests. Some will do that, because they want to have a right to use btc and others just because they are against Trump. Meanwhile, bitcoin will become more popular because of all the information in the news and the price is likely to grow.
9331  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitdouble.io | social gambling game | Prov fair | 0.025 mBit faucet | VIP Prog on: January 23, 2017, 09:56:40 AM
I've tried this website. Design seems nice but it is not easy to understand how things are done there. And people are chatting mostly in Russian. After you sign up they do give you 0.025mbit which is a nice way to write it down, because it looks like you are given a lot which is not true, because it is only 2500 Satoshis. And you have to wait for an hour before you get another 2500 from the faucet in case your balance is zero. Oh, and there is also another thing. When you've registered and want some money from the faucet, sometimes it doesn't give it, writing in the chat that there are too many faucet claims now.
9332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is 100% safe? on: January 23, 2017, 09:15:05 AM
The bitcoin itself wasn't hacked and sort of can't be because of the strong encryption system. So, bitcoin is safe. Users, however, aren't. Some bank can be robbed and so someone's btc can be stolen. I know there are no bitcoin banks but I think you know what I mean when I say they can be stolen from somewhere, because it has already happened about a year ago with that japanese guy Ryota Fujii. However, even he didn't steal btc as I can see now, he just bought a lot using stolen money.
9333  Other / Off-topic / Re: Whats Your Current Balance In Bitcoins ? on: January 22, 2017, 05:15:08 PM
Hello Friends !

I Am writing a study paper about bitcoin BTCBTCBTCBTCBTC , so can you all tell me how much bitcoin do you have & where do you store them ( online wallets OR own computer )  ?

THanks To Eveyone Who Answers
I can tell you my sum, because it is not really big. I have 0.1btc now. I just don't hold my btc, I spend it, that's why the sum is small. I store them in online wallet, because it is free and I trust the security system with all there passwords and confirmations I have to make every time. Good luck with your paper!
9334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you still use Bitcoin if price would be stable for years? on: January 22, 2017, 05:07:29 PM
It's true there are many people who don't really use bitcoin and just hold them for years waiting for the price to grow. However, I think if the majority of btc was kept this way then bitcoin would have dropped the price fastly, because it the truth that people don't actually believe in it as in a currency would be revealed. For me bitcoin is a currency, I don't hold them and wait till the price grows, I just use it when I need money.

Accepted but be careful of your post quality. You seem to post a lots in a small time and in trash topics.

Thanks for accepting me. I'll do my best to make better posts from now.

9337  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Sports Betting for You? on: January 14, 2017, 06:31:53 PM
You definitely better do some research after doing sports betting but I don't think huge research will make it really better. Such betting is not for me, because I am not good in understanding sports and I believe many results of games are decided before the games started, so even some good analysis can appear to be wrong, because it will only show you which team was supposed to win, not which one will actually win.
9338  Economy / Speculation / Re: When to expect the next big drop in BTC? on: January 14, 2017, 06:24:04 PM
I thought the price could hit something like $400 but then I found out some more information and now I think that bitcoin won't cost less than $650. But not is not a good time to buy btc anyway, because the price is like $820. You have to wait carefully for another two weeks and if the price starts growing - do your investments in two days or so. If the price is stable then you can wait more. If it starts dropping then wait till it starts growing again. Good luck!
9339  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin price may not crash like 2013 on: January 14, 2017, 06:17:50 PM
Yeah, I've heard the stories that at that time it was sort of a fake price growth. I mean, the price really hit $1k+ but it was due to some circumstances and now it is just the real price. The price is dropping but it is not dropping that fast. And yet it seems too unreal to me that the price can really be around $1k stable now. People don't trust bitcoin that much. They do like such a price but the problem is that they don't believe it is going to grow even more and spoil everything by their selling.
9340  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen to BTC next week ? on: January 14, 2017, 05:53:42 PM
I don't think there are big guys who try to keep the price lower. I think it is rather a big amount of people woth some sums of btc thinking it's the best time to sell everything now. I think the price will fall more and will stabilize around $650, so next week we'll see something like $730 as a btc price. I hope this won't happen, of course. People say this time when the price hit $1k it was different from two years ago, so maybe the price will grow again.
