9361  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Did you lose your confidence as an investor? on: December 29, 2018, 05:56:59 PM
The sudden rise (from the very beginning of 2018) to fall (end of 2018 and still continuing), did you have the courage to hodl your coins and have your confidence intact just as before? Or did the extreme hustle of the bearish markets ended everything for you and even compelled you in such a way that you're now no more going to put anything in cryptocurrencies? Do you think this is an opportunity itself or is this going to end up hard in grave like most of the best ICO projects of whose tokens got dumped down to even 1/20th their ATH?

P.S.: This is just a poll, so don't take it as a measurement to decide whether to remain and/or invest in crypto or not.

To be honest I still hold as much as I can up until the April-May of this year. But common sense tells me that its time to dumped but my friends didn't listen to me and instead they keep on holding, but we all know what happen next, because after that everything went crashing hard and the market condition worsens.

I guess it really boils down as to what 2019 will bring, if the market recovers then I'm sure ICO will be alive again and more money pouring in.
9362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do people mean when they say bitcoin is in 1994? on: December 29, 2018, 05:28:53 PM
It could be the internet or the email comparison in the 1990's. During that time no one really knows for sure how to used it, similar to what bitcoin or cryptocurrency. Adoption curve is very slow, but once people discover and learn that this technology has a lot of advantages, it has quickly grew at a much larger scale.
9363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 232: Jones vs Gustafsson 2 Prediction and Info Thread on: December 29, 2018, 10:57:58 AM
@NavI_027. Can I join you in your time machine? The main event is not starting for another 24 hours in normal time, I reckon. I would like to know the results ahead of time and make my bets hehehe.

@kenzawak. We heard you. However, why was Jon the only fighter caught by USADA in this event?

Maybe @NavI_027 lives on Asia and usually 1 day ahead so maybe he thought that fight is today.

@ kenzawak - Well if Jones took it himself then obviously he knows nothing about those PED's, hehehe. Probably they are all into steroids but for all the high profile athletes who have been tested Jones was so unlucky that he got caught the second time around.
9364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hollywood Votes for Bitcoin: Gwyneth Paltrow Joins the Game? on: December 29, 2018, 10:38:34 AM
Of course this is a welcoming news specially if Hollywood stars will be at the forefront of Bitcoin. However, I have mix emotions on this one. Does bitcoin really need someone to promote and help spread the word? And also I don't think it can really bring bitcoin closer to mainstream, bitcoin doesn't need it and people will discover it eventually. But I guess there's nothing wrong so let's see specially for those Iron Man fans out there.  Grin
9365  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will 2019 be the year of Altcoins ? on: December 28, 2018, 09:26:48 PM
Do you think that 2019 will be a good year for Altcoins ? and if yes which of them will performance the most ?

There will be no changes if the bear market continue in 2019 and obviously altcoins will suffer the most. Just look at how Ethereum manage this year, January its a all-time-high but after that, its all downward spiral. I guess coins in the top ten will remain as is, but with no significant jump whatsoever. Unless though that we have another break out run in 2019.

All eyes is on bitcoin so if the price rose then obviously atlcoins will follow. However, even Bitcoin future is still uncertain in 2019 so it will be a waiting game for all of us and just hope for the best.
9366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: December 28, 2018, 08:04:56 PM
I wasn't able to watch the game live, I just checked some hi lights in YT and it's a very close game. It seems that Portland will win but Durant hit clutch three to send the game in OT. And when everyone expect the Warriors to win because they have a 5 point lead down to a minute or two. And still they have the edge in the dying seconds, Lilard hit's a three. Durant though posted a triple double as a consolation.
9367  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price go to 1 BTC = 1 oz gold again? on: December 28, 2018, 07:38:57 PM
What do you think?

Well everything is possible but I don't think we will reach that point again. Will you not buy bitcoin and take that risk again when the price is just $1K? I'm sure that many investors will take that opportunity to scoop a lot of bitcoins, while casual investors will also jump and try to get at least 1 BTC because everyone had a dream to at least earn one full BTC in their lifetime. So we might see a massive buying when the price hits $1K-$2K, just sayin'.
9368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Layoffs Underway Amid ‘Adjustments,’ Bitcoin Miner Bitmain Confirms on: December 28, 2018, 06:53:38 PM
No real surprise. They'll have expanded unnecessarily when bitcoin mining was immensely profitable in the previous bull run and now they're feeling the squeeze. They won't be the only company that is doing this.

Remember they have tons of BCH which is not as profitable as they think it would be.

Still pretty profitable when you consider they just magicked a lot of it out of thin air with the bitcoin fork. I don't really have any sympathy for them, they probably generate billions of dollars in profit every year, even with the market as bearish as it is.

But they expecting more from their BCH stash which didn't materialized because we suddenly went into a bearish trend. Yes this made billions in profit but BCH become a non performing asset unless they liquidate it and with today's price, they probably lost billions as well. I'm sure that Bitmain will survived, but it order to do that, they have to lay off a lot of employees, it's a cut throat business and anyone is "dispensable".
9369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquaio vs. Adrien Broner on: December 28, 2018, 06:12:12 PM
But it looks like the fight is going to push through despite Broner having personal problems. But it's crazy though, $1 million for jewelry alone? That's why boxers really need to be careful with their finances otherwise all the money they got will just be wipe out in just a couple of years.
I'm not really knowledgeable about his background so this can be the hint on why he's called "the problem". Athlete's or not, we do have taste for luxuries and its just caught that he did something wrong for getting into jewelries.

Usually though, he portray himself as being "the problem", that boxers can't solved in the right. But Marcos Maidana destroy him a couple years back so its problem solved. I'm not really sure though, maybe he thought that jewelries is a good investment or he just want to flaunt and to show everyone that he is really a high profile athlete. Anyways, let's see what he can do against Manny it's just a couple of weeks from now and I read that Manny is already in the US to complete his training.
9370  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2019 Expectation of BTC, History is always strikingly similar? on: December 27, 2018, 10:42:24 PM
Because 2018 is really the long season of market falldown, in the coming year 2019, investors and members of cryptocurrency are expecting 2019 for bitcoin as recovering from the long season of crypto market falldown, and looking forward for a great change in the year 2019 that it will look so good.

That's what everyone is hoping next year, however, we all know that the market is very volatile and its hard for everyone to really see where the price will end up. Eventually though we may see some good recovery in the future, there might be some good news like the BAKKT offerings that may change the sentiments of investors to put their money and gamble on the market so let's see how it goes in 2019. And pray to the crypto Gods that it will be different, a change for the better.
9371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: predictions of 2019 on: December 27, 2018, 10:19:44 PM
.. snip ..

BAKKT will be accepted only at the end of 2019. In the first half of the year, the market will be falling. The capitalization in 2019 will be at most $350 (now it's nearly $130). I think there'll be the calm before the storm.

Wow man you really broke a lot of hearts with your prediction. Lmao.

Why do you think that BAKKT will be accepted at the end of 2019? Care you share you insights? Do you have a inside information?

I'm not really sure where you that capitulation numbers as well. Of course I want to believed that the bear market is not over and there will be more blood in the street. But as least show us some graph so we will have a idea about where you coming from as far as your predictions in 2019.

9372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquaio vs. Adrien Broner on: December 27, 2018, 09:57:05 PM
Yep, this will definitely bother Broner coming in with a lot of personal issues surrounding him. It's going to be a psychological advantage for Pacquiao and even if Broner's camp says that it will not affect him because they have one of the best camp, I don't believed it.
I think the opposite will happen. Broner gets more motivated in his upcoming fight because he really need to win in order to pay his debts on that jeweler Grin, he is like facing an all or nothing situation. But unfortunately, winning would be not so easy especially that he's fighting with Pacman — a legendary in the boxing industry.

Honestly, I'm less excited in this fight. I'm more excited if Manny will have a fight against Spence Jr. or Thurman. Nevertheless, I'm still willing to watch the match and make a bet in favor of Pacquiao.
As far as the purse is concern, it's already been settled, meaning before the fight actually starts Broner already knows how much money he will get from the Pacquiao (except for the PPV numbers) fight so no need for him to get motivated in order to pay his debts. So the money is already there, he will just have to wait and I believed that the money is escrow as well.

Yes that's true. Money is already in the table for Broner and once the fight is complete, regardless of the outcome he will got what he deserves. I'm not sure what the split will be, but since Broner is the B-side of this might, he will take less money, probably 65-35 in favor of Manny since he is the champion.

As for Spence and Thurman, I don't think that Manny has the luxury of time to face them both. We are now in a different era, let's accept that fact.
9373  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Street is Backing Out of Crypto on: December 27, 2018, 09:39:38 PM
Wall Street is Backing Out of Crypto

We wish!  It would be nice if Wall Street would sell Bitcoin now and buy back when price will be $100k. But reality is opposite., They are buying now. And they are buying big.

They're probably into crypto for all we know maybe around the 2016-2017 bull run's. And during this bearish trend, they repeated the cycle, accumulating and just waiting for the bears to get exhausted again. So I don't think that they are backing out of crypto, but quietly buying cheap coins at the sideline and just maybe buying in bulk order. Those Wall Street guys are very wise and wouldn't let us know what they're doing from behind but we can smell them what they really up to in this market.
9374  Economy / Marketplace / Re: 9 ways the chinese crypto market is different from the US on: December 27, 2018, 09:19:10 PM
It's a crap article to be honest, of course how can you even compare the China and the US market? Obviously there's a lot of difference and everyone in the community really knows what the Chinese stance on crypto specially last September 2017.
9375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Layoffs Underway Amid ‘Adjustments,’ Bitcoin Miner Bitmain Confirms on: December 27, 2018, 08:57:52 PM
No real surprise. They'll have expanded unnecessarily when bitcoin mining was immensely profitable in the previous bull run and now they're feeling the squeeze. They won't be the only company that is doing this.

Yep, they really grow during 2016-2017 so obviously they have to hire a lot of employees to cope up with the high demand during that time. But since the market went into a recession, they have to lay-off a lot of non-permanent employees to cut losses. They still have mining farms outside of China so it's another reason why they need to streamline their businesses in order to survived. Remember they have tons of BCH which is not as profitable as they think it would be.

9377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 NBA Pre-Season on: December 26, 2018, 11:52:24 PM
It's good to hear though that the injury suffered by Lebron is not that bad after although he was listed as day-to-day with groin injury. I agree though that Golden State has a off-night as they're missing shots that Curry or Durant has been hitting all day long. But it's a good win for the Lakers and all around performance after Lebron have to sit after he hyper extended that left groin.
9378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CHINA HOLDS THE CARDS AS ONLINE BETTING BOOMS IN THE PHILIPPINES on: December 26, 2018, 11:31:21 PM
I could attest that online gaming is in a boom in the Philippines although I was quite surprised to find a lot of Chinese even in my neighbors walking around and someone tell's me that they are operating in a gambling in one of the hotels close to my place. So it makes sense of the sudden influx of lots of Chinese and I thought that those guys are working in a call center setup or something until I found out that they are on the gambling scene. I don't know, maybe in the next two years or so, you can call Philippines as one of China's province as well because they are all over the country, lol.

Since you are living in Philippines can you confirm or disprove the notion that 76% of adults there understand spoken English and 46% of adults speak English? Could it be a problem for the local population to play on a gambling site where everything was in English? Asking because I took those numbers from the Internet, and I know how far from reality such stats can be in some cases (although in most cases they reflect the true facts of the matter, in my opinion).

Yeah, I would say that the number is around that ball-park. Heck even a ordinary vendor can speak and understand English here. So I don't see problem with locals playing on a English gambling site. As @nutildah have said, Philippines was under American rule after World War that's why the influence is still felt up to this day.
9379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which token has prevail? on: December 23, 2018, 11:57:33 PM
2018 has been amazing and we had a whole bunch of new ICOs with amazing projects.
We'll step into 2019 in less than 10 days.
Which token is your favorite, why and what changes do you want to see in 2019?

To be honest, I only hold one token before and it was really doing good but the bear market started so in May I finally decided to dump everything. So I haven't followed what happened to the ICO market nowadays.

But since the bear market lingers for about a year, I don't think that there are lots of ICO who remain successful in 2019 because obviously most of the investors dump once they got their tokens. So I would also be interested to known which one made it successfully this year. Might be a few exceptions here and there, imho.
9380  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bear period (December 17, 2017 - December 17, 2018) on: December 23, 2018, 11:37:14 PM
Does anybody noticed this? The bitcoin lost regular 85% of its value as a result of the market correction from $19,800 to $2,900 within the period of 12 months. Just like 2014 - where bitcoin went from $1,200 to $150, losing 85%. This happened to bitcoin before, does anyone here recalls 2013/2014 bitcoin correction?

It would be very nice if we could prove the repeatability of the cycles on other examples. The price history of Bitcoin looks like a growing wave, but unfortunately it is not known how long the next waves (cycles) can be and whether they will continue to grow, or if the next one will be much smaller. Many people try to look for such similarities in the hope that they will find a holy grail and will be able to predict the price. This, however, cannot be done.

And the fact that the market is still fairly young and the data sample who have right now is so small that's why its really hard to prove and get something out of its previous past. What we only know is that the market works on cycles, but we really don't know when will the bull/bear cycle ends and starts. So its really just a coincidence that the last cycle was similar because its really hard to predict the market price.

I just hope so that the bear cycle has ended so that we can finally see the price moving to a direction which everyone is comfortable.
