Why do we not see promotions and events with Freebitco.in on special days, like we see with other sites? We should celebrate certain events with higher freerolls for the day or increase rewards on days like this :

~ Freebitco.in's Birthday <date?>
~ Pizza Day
~ Valentines Day
~ Xmas
~ New Year
~ Halloween
~ Saint Patrick's Day
~ Hanukkah
~ Winter solstice
~ Black Friday
~ Diwali

There are so many special days in the year that we can celebrate and where Freebitco.in can be part of the festivities and fun.  Wink
Let's ask Wetsuit if it is possible to add some special rewards during some of these festivities?
9382  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-26] South African Police Investigate $80 Million Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme on: May 30, 2018, 05:41:52 AM
One of the people who was invested in this was a medical doctor, so I doubt if greed makes any distinction based on IQ.
It's important to understand that being a doctor has zero meaning when it comes to actions outside your comfort zone. Your doctor (medical) IQ might be sky high, but your IQ in other fields can be incredibly low, especially when it comes to investments and risk/reward ratios.

Greed is destructive, and it shows time on time again. If you can't prevent yourself from taking extreme risks, which these ponzi schemes are, then something is actually wrong with you. Investing in ponzi schemes, and especially when it is this obvious, is only a matter of you having a low IQ, at least in the investment field.

The thing that we lose in the end is credibility and a decline in adoption, fuelled by people who lost money in scams. Bitcoin is the unfortunate "collateral damage" in this scenario.  Angry Angry Angry
Nope. It only exposes how retarded people are. Bitcoin keeps growing as always. If we go by your logic, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Do you want to tell me that Ponzi schemes are good for Bitcoin? I have spoken to several people who got burnt by scam ICOs and Bitcoin Ponzi schemes and the majority of them does not want anything to do with Bitcoin after they lost their money on these scams. These people are from all walks of life and they always blame the technology and not themselves.

They even take it a step further, by warning people against "Bitcoin" investment. This has a much wider impact than simply one individual that got burnt, because every person that this individual come in contact with are poisoned by his or her anger and resentment towards this technology. <not the scammers/criminals that used the technology>

You do not grow adoption by exposing people to scams and Ponzi schemes, where they lose money!  ^hmmmmmm^
9383  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Disable person on: May 30, 2018, 05:30:16 AM
Hal Finney was severely disabled towards the end of his sickness, but he persevered and typed code with his mouth, even towards the end. <Hal Finney died in Phoenix August 28, 2014>

There are no reason why people with disabilities cannot be productive citizens of the community. The wife of a friend of mine is blind, but she is working on the telephone switch board of a very big company. Handling 1000s of calls on a day and using Braille to re-direct calls.

People with disabilities are even given preference for certain positions in some companies, because they have to employ a specific amount of people with disabilities.
Yeah youre right and thats even great that disabled people has to go in work than staying in house.but i believe it depends on how a disabled person brings to maturity by their family, just like in the poor municipality that they can even earn enough to eat so how would they bring to school or have a tools to teach their children with disabilities when they know nothing about it,most of the time its the resources thats lack why they stay needs help and support

There are many charity organizations out there, that would be more than willing to help, if people just reached out to them. Most of these disabled people have a wrong approach when they contact these organizations. I have been involved with this before and when we just ask for money they usually do not want to support us, but when we ask for tools and resources to enable these people to "fish" for themselves, then we get a overwhelming response from them.

They want to be involved with projects where the people are not just being given fish to eat, but rather taught how to fish.

Take a look at the success of companies like Netflix. They are not charging you a micropayment for every
minute of content that you consume, but rather charge a flat monthly fee.

I highly doubt that Netflix would be more successful if they would abandon their current business model.

Netflix's business model is to borrow loads of money, then charge users less than their costs. They never made any profit on streaming; they're in huge, ever increasing debt.

(the idea is to establish themselves in the streaming marketplace, then massively ramp up the subscription fees later)

There's no reason why a Netflix-like company wouldn't add pay-per-view to their model, but only when they're sufficiently dominant in the overall pay-TV market (i.e. once they've eclipsed cable providers altogether, and once their customers feel reliant on their service)

Do not underestimate the consumers Carlton. In my country a large franchise pissed off a bunch of consumers and they started to boycott them. <They are bankrupt now> There will always be alternative offerings and companies that would step up to take their place, when they do a Bait and switch strategy like this.

The internet is already saturated by other "illegal" streaming services, so they are already competing with FREE streamers out there.  Wink

Circle tried the same thing and Bitcoiners left in their droves.  Grin
9386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Btc phone scams happening??? on: May 29, 2018, 06:21:09 AM
A most likely scenario I could think of is scammers phoning random people to do a small survey. In this survey they might include a question that relates to Crypto currency investments. <Example : Have you invested in Bitcoin before?> If the answer is "YES" then this person will become a target for these scammers.

I get regular phone calls from so-called Telemarketers and a lot of them will try to get as much information as possible from you, to sell whatever they want to sell to you. <Because they are trained to cover all answers that you give>

The scammer could just mask his fishing tactics as a normal telemarketer call.  Roll Eyes

It is like these Microsoft support calls, where they call you to tell you that your computer is infected with a nasty virus. When you respond and tell them that you are running some Anti-virus, then they already know that you own a computer and if they break into your house, then they know what to look for.  Roll Eyes
9387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Bitcoin merchants help to keep our identity private? on: May 29, 2018, 06:08:55 AM
I really don't understand the argument 'If you have nothing to hide, why care about privacy'. There are plenty of reasons why you want to have a certain amount of privacy.

my reply is always
OK mr government spokesman. im installing CCTV camera in your wifes bathroom. as long as she isnt doing anything illegal you have no reason to object??

(excuse my stripper/women in shower examples, its not my normal content of comedy, but it seems to many bitcoiners that this comedy category sparks their imagination to understand the underlying more serious points)

You have no reason to apologize for the examples that you are using, because they are on-topic and spot on for this topic. I have never even considered it from that angle before. <How would they feel if it was them>

Privacy will always be a hot topic, because you will have to trust that the entity given authority to infringe on your privacy, would not misuse that power. < Example : US Drone operators in Iraq taking footage of private citizens >
9388  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-26] South African Police Investigate $80 Million Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme on: May 29, 2018, 05:50:50 AM
A lot of ponzi schemes, even after they collapse, face no consequences whatsoever even though they are obviously not lawful investment companies.

The thing is that in these cases we only read what news sites release. If they don't choose to release or at least try to obtain more information from authorities, we won't find out how everything plays out behind the scenes after scheme busts. In most cases we only read about these schemes initially because that's what people want to read and it directly also attracts clicks. Criminals being prosecuted for their actions is too positive in nature, and for that reason will likely not get covered. Especially when it comes to the mainstream media channels, they are only out to keep their anti Bitcoin campaign up and running. Bitcoin plus negativity equals user interest and income for them.

Well to be fair, most of these scams and hacks get a lot of media attention, especially when there are large amounts involved. We got a blow by blow analysis of the "Silkroad" incident and also MtGox and also the MMM Ponzi scheme and the death of Sergei Mavrodi. <The mastermind behind MMM, possibly the biggest Ponzi scheme in the world>

I would give it to you that the smaller incidents are not covered from beginning to end, but most is so small that it is not news worthy for them to cover it. <There are too many other things going on in this world>  Roll Eyes
9389  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 29, 2018, 05:40:51 AM
What do you mean? This is suppose to be faucet site right? So why you guys blocked him just because he abuse the faucet, does not make a sense here. This is not suppose to be blocked since freebitco.in is abuse website, only on this site people can claim their faucet without scare being banned or blocked. Any reason towards this issue?

It means they claimed the faucet so much that it looked like a feat of endurance that only a bot could manage. Blocking those accounts is a way to find out if there is a human on the other end.
don't believe a single word on the main page of the site they write "WIN FREE BITCOINS EVERY HOUR!"and then block the account and say that you abuse, not figuring out who the bot is and who is not. It was a great PR for attracting users to their website. Now they ask to make a Deposit of $ 50-100 to prove that you are not a bot. they'll take the money and disappear.

#solosss please stop posting nonsense. Why would the owner of the most successful faucet/gambling site want to close down their site and disappear for $50-$100 deposits? The site generate a shitload of money from the gambling side of this site and possibly from the "deposits" too.

Just imagine if they have say 100 000 active users and each of these users deposited $100 on the "Saving account", then that would amount to $10,000,000. They give 4% interest to the users, but they might get 6% to 10% interest from some other investment. So after interest of 4% is paid to the user, they take say 2%, which equals $200,000 per year.

This does not even include the gambling returns and the income from the mining operation.  Roll Eyes
9390  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Benefits of gambling? Yes - it exists! on: May 28, 2018, 07:58:42 AM
I can add that all these online gambling sites are creating jobs for the people who are hosting them and they are feeding the families of the people that are behind this. Some sites even have "Live" gambling, so they have employees that work at the tables and IT staff working on the networks and securing the site and also "Support" staff handling people's problems.

Every aspect of life has it's Pros and Cons. Take Bitcoin for instance : People can use Bitcoin to send money from one country to the next at a much lower fee than traditional remittance services, but it can also be used to buy drugs.
9391  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you approve this strategy: sell alts buy btc? on: May 28, 2018, 07:44:20 AM
I honestly think many of these Alt coins are pump n dump schemes. You can make some good profits on Alt coins, if you time your exit before they collapse. The most stable and reliable Crypto currency, since 2009 is Bitcoin and that is not even disputable. <remember we are not talking about volatility, but rather the long-term survival of the coin>

So my strategy is to play with Alt coins and to move my profits <if there are any> to Bitcoin in the end. Bitcoin is my store of value, like Gold is for many other investors.  Wink
9392  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win free Bitcoins every hour! on: May 28, 2018, 07:25:18 AM

The rewards are only reduced for accounts that don't do at least a little gambling, buying lottery tickets or deposit to keep a higher balance.

Whatever move you do, those botnets will keep adapting and finding ways to drain the faucet. I think the only thing you can do is lower the base reward even more for such accounts so that it isn't profitable anymore.

I suppose the problem here is that not all such accounts are bots. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them aren't.

babygun is correct, the only way to stop them is to make it unprofitable for them. There are costs incurred to run their botnets. We could have just reduced the base reward for everybody, but by using a minimum wagering requirement we feel it targets the bots effectively. There might be a few people that get the new lower base payout but the vast majority are bots. If you look at the last lot of accounts wetsuit blocked from the faucet, out over 100k+ accounts only around 10 people contacted me.

The question is how many people know about this forum and this thread dedicated to Freebitco.in? There might be some collateral damage amongst the 100k+ accounts that was deleted. Yes, if it was affective to block the bots, then I would say, GO FOR IT, but these bots are highly affective and adapt to challenges like that.

By the time the bots are stopped or the accounts blocked, the damage was already done. I think a better approach would be to disrupt the scripts or the processes that these bots rely on.  Huh
9393  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-26] South African Police Investigate $80 Million Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme on: May 28, 2018, 07:10:04 AM
SHITE like this, gives Bitcoin a bad reputation.

Not really. The only people believing it is related to Bitcoin are noobs themselves, and they don't ever contribute to this market. In other words, we haven't lost anything in that regard. Those with more brain capacity being able to actually think, will know it has nothing to do with Bitcoin, but just the greedy nature of people. I don't even find these cases interesting anymore. It's always the same; people use these options to become rich. It's like the poor man's way to become rich, but they only become poorer.

Again, people with brain capacity know that free money doesn't exist, and thus these investment options are a scam by default. Low IQ people will take these risks, even if they know it's actually a scam. They don't have any skills or market understanding they can utilize to achieve their goals. These people have got what they deserved.

I want to disagree with you on this. As I said before, these people were warned in advance that this was a Ponzi scheme and they still invested. Now my friends are telling me that these same people are blaming Bitcoin for their losses and telling other people to stay away from Bitcoin.

One of the people who was invested in this was a medical doctor, so I doubt if greed makes any distinction based on IQ.

The thing that we lose in the end is credibility and a decline in adoption, fuelled by people who lost money in scams. Bitcoin is the unfortunate "collateral damage" in this scenario.  Angry Angry Angry
9394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash on: May 28, 2018, 06:51:23 AM
When Roger Ver gets confronted by the question that Bitcoin Cash will not scale, he always respond with the same answer like a parrot. "Bitcoin Cash can also implement the Lightning Network"

So, they are just waiting for Bitcoin Core developers to do all the work and then they want to copy what Bitcoin does. In the end, if the Lightning Network is hugely succesful on Bitcoin and on-chain scaling over at Bitcoin Cash fail, then Bitcoin Cash will just implement the Lightning Network. <According to Roger Ver, Bitcoin Cash can implement the Lightning Network without SegWit>  Roll Eyes

The moderators have decided to "clean" some sections on the forum that are being exploited by shit posters. Unfortunately whole threads will be deleted, even if there are one or two constructive posts in there. I usually get a message if individual posts was deleted, but when they delete an entire tread, you just notice that when the post count decrease.

Do not feel offended by that, it is just a "house cleaning" attempt by the moderators to control shit posting. This thread will also be deleted, so I just responded quickly to explain to you why this is happening.  Wink
9396  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's going to happen with Bitcoin? on: May 28, 2018, 06:27:27 AM
What is up with the " it's very informative " newbie thread bumping?

In any way, I get asked this question a lot and my response is always the same. Bitcoin is like the Flu virus, because it is spreading very rapidly and before you know it, everyone has it.  Wink It also adapt and change all the time, so one vaccine might be affective against it this year, but the next year it adapted and the vaccine is worthless.

We see a increase in Bitcoin adoption and Bitcoin ATMs globally and more and more merchants are accepting Bitcoin at their shops, so it is definitely not a temporary fad.
9397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why is bitcoin better than bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, super bitcoin.... on: May 28, 2018, 06:05:34 AM
Even if you give a turd a nice name, it will still be a turd. Where did these coins originate from? Answer : Bitcoin. So, they were not some brain fart from some genius that was much better than Bitcoin. They were just a copy of Bitcoin with "Bitcoin" in it's name.

The agenda behind these coins are merely to re-live the early days of Bitcoin, where a bunch of people bought cheap coins and then pumped it, to sell for a massive profit.  Roll Eyes
9398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is China the core up holder of Bitcoin? on: May 28, 2018, 05:57:40 AM
China is quickly becoming the country with the strongest economy in the world, so anything that they do, will have a ripple affect in the financial world. The ban on ICOs and crowd funding has been a controversial subject for a long time now, because this scene is riddled with scams. So it is no wonder that the Chinese government would issue some kind of restriction on capital flowing into these scams. <and even the legitimate projects>

Capital control is crucial to their strategy to become the strongest economy in the world.
9399  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to make a good post? on: May 27, 2018, 12:04:54 PM
Posting constructively all the time, takes a lot of effort and a lot of time. You must research the topic, before you post and then type up something that must be easy to read and with little grammar and spelling mistakes. In the beginning it will help if you fire up a online stopwatch and then set it to 30 min to 45 min between posts. <This way you are forced to take your time and to proof read your post, before you post it to the forum>

As time goes on and you learn more about a broader range of topics, you can respond quicker to questions, so you can reduce the time between posting.  Wink

Nobody are going to PM you or send you any information on the introduction of new bounty campaigns or signature campaigns. There are some announcements being made by users in Mitchell's thread here --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=615953.820 but you have to constantly go back to that thread to see if something was added.

This kind of information are not simply going to fall from the air, you will have to put some effort in to get something back. There are also a lot of competition to get into these campaigns, so most people will keep it quite.  Grin
