9383  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 258 blocks solved! on: July 03, 2021, 12:54:45 PM
yeah he is off line till Monday which is why he asked to pay early.

So we will delay it till Monday.

oh we had a higher share

102,762,077,486

we need

14,400,000,000,000

so we are not very close.

https://solo.ckpool.org/users/1PN22gp21k3vNEbg9VrBCVqZxECBrm9q6S

I bumped us up to 6ph. we have about 6 hours left

notice price per ph jumped up to 0.0092 from 0.0066

9384  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 258 blocks solved! on: July 03, 2021, 12:32:15 PM
Okay I gave the new address to two people. one  guy paid  a 30 sat fee it cleared

but the other person paid a 3 sat fee.

it simply won't clear.

check the  memory pool

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,2w,weight

we are stacked at  132 mb total

last night before the diff adjustment we were at 148 mb

when you pay 3 sats that  number  is one of the last to clear.

I do all this work to have some fun and don't ask for $$
So the new address has 3 payments 2 cleared mine and the 30 fee the other won't clear soon.
Let think of a way to fix it. (not any direct fix)

oh we still have some action on the last run.
9385  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: July 03, 2021, 12:06:25 PM
Well the answer was a drop of 27.94%.
So the next question is that going to be stable for any period of time?
I don't think it will be. I feel there will be a lot more spikes up and down.
No scientific or logical reason, just a gut feeling that big mining farms are going to be a lot more aggressive in where they mine.
They moved once, they can do it again. As opposed to the "we built it here, so we will stat here" theory.

Just my thoughts.

-Dave

I wonder if the new countries will allow them to stay.

It is early but numbers are very low.

drop from 19.93 to 14.36

next drop may be  over 10%? to 12.49. this is very concerning.

viabtc went from

0.00665 btc a ph to

0.00929 btc a ph

if these very low number this jump stay we will go over 0.01 a ph next jump which will be 17 days.

Obvious it is way early so keep clocking these numbers.

A new drop of over 10% if it happens is a bit nerve wracking.

if you mine all your btc to cash.

a diff of 25.3 and a price of 64k

vs

a diff of 14.4 and a price of 34k

means  14.3/25.3 x 64k = 36170   to be exactly equal income as cash.

So for a BTC miner the price drop from 64k to 34k is not very hurtful unless you hodl like mad
your daily income as cash is only down  5 or 6%
9386  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer L3+/S9 without fans. Will it work? on: July 03, 2021, 05:24:34 AM
Hi,
I would like to ask you if anyone tried to use the Fan simulator to eliminate the original loud fans.
Remove the hash boards from the case and add external quiet fans to reduce noise. Like a 2fans/hash board
antminer will be in an air-conditioned room where it is about 16 degrees.

it will work?
has anyone tried this solution?

Thanks

Waste of money.

braiins lets you run fans very low on the s9s.

Just lower freq. and the fans to 20%

the correct bitmain firmware lets you lower the freq and the fans on the l3

cost is zero and they are much quieter.
9387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining - where is a good place to start? on: July 03, 2021, 05:01:50 AM
Buddy, you at least read some information about mining.
I would not take this ASIC, because it will become useless after the DOGECOIN price drops
https://www.goldshell.com/product/goldshell-mini-doge/
It is better to look for interesting ASIC offers for bitcoin.

Maybe doge and ltc go up and btc drops.

Before you can reach HODL status, you have to get to an adequate BTC accumulation level, which surely can take a decent amount of time for guys who are not already coming into BTC as already existing millionaires or some other variation of high net-worth individuals.

Yes, if I could rack status of "BTC spent" over the years, then it would blow holes in the competition, but my current holdings are microscopic in comparison. Still, it's enough at stake to get me emotional in an unprofessional way at times.

I understand that some guys like to describe some of their situations in kind of "baller" scenarios, but probably an assumption should be that not too many of us are already coming to this thread with an already existing baller status or even quasi-baller status.

No "baller" here, aspiring to be humble (work in progress). I focus on learning new things, knowledge is wealth to me, and trying to rack up some Bitcoin as well because it makes sense.

Even a guy or gal who comes here with an already existing investment portfolio of something like $100k, might well be well pressed to get to fuck you status in 15 years of BTC investing and accumulating because so many times mistakes can be made along the way, and really seems to be the exception rather than the rule for mistakes NOT to be made - even assuming that some of us might be willing to share some of the outlines of our mistakes, but not too many of us would be able to share the specifics of our mistakes- especially if sometimes they might rise to the level of something approaching mindrust's mistake, and we might want to be stubborn in public and even show more how difficult it can sometimes be to save peeps from their lil selfies.

Agreed, admitting mistakes is good. I once sold 100 BTC after solo mining two blocks in a month, we live and learn.

Here's a "night shot" of my mining rig at the time, before ASIC, during the GPU era.

The GPUs were running 24/7 at 102C (215.6F) for roughly a year (two AMD 6990 cards), sounded a bit like a jet plane on the runway.

Another mental mistake seems to be that almost everyone comes into bitcoin believing that they are "too late," so when any of us start to explain to the newbie that I believe that you should try to do x, y and z because I have found those to be amongst the best of strategies, including attempting to account for my various mistakes along the way.  Understandably, the newbie still might want to "improve upon" the shared system because he believes that there is some kind of rush for him to catch up or some other dumbass bullshit about bitcoin no longer having sufficient pumpamentals in order for the similar  x, y and z approach to work. .and gosh the truth of the matter still remains that even newbies coming into bitcoin have a very asymmetrical bet staring them in the face - and can relatively easily get caught up in some kind of an inferior practice rather than just figuring out their BTC accumulation targets and tailoring their BTC accumulation plan to involve various kinds of lump sum investing, DCA and buying on dips in order to make progress towards having a sufficiently assertive preparation for the possibility of UPpity, even though UPpity is not guaranteed in the short term or the long term, but merely has decent chances (likely better than anything else.. but whatever.. not guaranteed, for sure).

In any event, my point is that buying and accumulating BTC may well be a strategy that persists for a decently long period of time for a large number of us thread participants - even if some of us are further on the road than others in terms of reaching our BTC accumulation goals, whether that be 0.21BTC or some other amount that works for our lil selfies.

Yes, common mental block, and good advice, it's never too late for Bitcoin.

I would say a bit worse than I did.

I feel less pain reading that.

I just a crab 1-10 coins

I could be more than 50 if I approached it differently years ago.

now I have to say this watch your fee payments as fees are not very low.

see chart

https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,1w,weight

I can muscle in a fee of 15 sats a byte but if you go too low and get stuck you screw this up.
Waiting till next adjustment may help out. So do not rush and pay too low.

I am not giving out payment address to everyone yet.

Next adjustment is about midnight east coast time.

I'm feeling lucky and think we'll hit a block! I do have a couple questions as this is my first time.

1. How much hashing do you plan on renting during our run?
2. How long will you rent for?
3. After factoring in the above two questions, what do you think our odds of finding a block are given the massive difficulty decrease headed our way?

Thank you!

the best way to understand odds are as follows

go to viabtc.com and check what they pay per th for btc.

it is 0.00000665 btc per th or

0.00665  btc per ph

now we will be using .1300 btc plus the change on the end from the identity numbers.

so if I can rent at exactly the payout rate we can do this.

6.25/.1300 = 48 to one shot that using the all of the .1300 btc wins a block and a 2304 to 1 shot we win 2 blocks.

As to how fast I rent or how much I rent less important.

closer that I can rent to true payout means the most bang for the buck.

This last rental with .10000 and the change btc I rented most 2.5 ph for about a week  I never was as high as

0.0070 I did get to rent as low as 0.0065 which is very good .

I know it is a different way of looking at the numbers but it all works out.

I do realize with the difficulty shift we will be spend more per ph so renting rates will more to 0.0075 or even 0.0082 maybe higher.

but payout rates on viabtc will move close to 00.0082 or 0.0085

the goal is for us to be close to the viabtc pay out number as it takes out luck and reflects true odds - a 3% fee.

A translation of what I said is:

This time I will bump ph to 4 or 5 as I am more busy so we will likely have a 5 day run not 9 days. I always effort to not overpay for hash

This means if he does not get back to me 1 more slot is empty. #2 so feel free to ask to get on a standby list for that number.
In fact may as well try for two or three or four  people on the standby list.

So we have 12 that said yes and 1 maybe

I will start collecting when we finish this one.

I will also push the ph up on it. from 2.5ph to 4ph once the diff drop happens on Friday

I will make a new collection address for new game .

please link this as i am not aware of it.

I have a few small ltc/doge miners.

250/260 mh and 400 watts

It is the L3 not the L3 +

The L3 can run fairly quiet and reliable.

I am not aware of your miner and the 185 mh at 223 watts.

I think it is an okay unit for about 500 not 700.

Here is math 223 watts is 223 x 24 = 5-6 kwatts or 1.20 usd a day power cost. at 20 cent power.
9398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Who here in the Pacific shut off their rigs this week? on: July 02, 2021, 02:26:26 PM
Yeah you are correct. If there was a blackout there might of been something called browning which I heard is killer for many computer components. Browning is when there is power but the voltage is not where it should be. So instead of 120Volts AC you might get 90Volts AC and what will happen is all your components will compensate and will need to pull more current and it'll end up blowing up a bunch of capacitors and other vital components.

Maybe with a surge protector it might save your equipment however a regular mid/high end PSU might not be able to kill the power in time to prevent the damage. I wonder if any miners on here ever ran into this "browning" type of electrical failure and ended up having most of their farm destroyed as a result of it.

I have this issue with my btc asics.

Not my gpus.

Here is why.

My gpus almost all run on 240 volt power and use Seasonic Focus Atx psu’s

My main location gives 238 volts and browns out to 190 volts often.

so a atx that can run on 120 volts up to 240 volts has zero issues as long as you are at 50%. say 500 of 1000 watts.

but my server psus for the btc asics at designed to do 205 to 250 volts.

they will run at 195 volts but they can die. Mostly just the psu dies.

USA 🇺🇸 NJ we had 98  97 98 and I downclocked all my asics and had zero issues.

We had major t-storms last night. Temps are now 72 f.
