I think the Indian player was overconfident after giving a huge target of 212 runs. And so we didn't see their fielding bowling as expected. A catch drop in these types of important matches can change the entire match situation. Indian bowlers need to be more responsible. Otherwise they will not be able to win this series.
Not trying to disrespect any poster here but i don't think anyone here experienced any game in this stadium (i have, plenty cause i'm Delhiite) or even watched the last match (this one is stretch).

Yes bowlers did some mistake but there was some serious problem with the Rishabh's captaincy overall, like using Chahal in powerplay instead of Axar and pulling out Chahal in middle overs.

To be honest, India was a little overconfident. They had posted such a big total on the board that they thought they don't need to worry at all, but they were so wrong. SA played really well to win this match. And there were some very obvious mistakes in the captaincy of India. India really failed to do anything in the bowling department.

The Greeks from Greece host the Greeks from Cyprus... It's an interesting match... I think Greece should win because they are the leaders in their group and have already beaten Kosovo and Northern Ireland... It is an interesting fact that out of the last 10 games between Greece and Cyprus the Greeks have scored only 1 goal in one game, in the other games more than one goal was scored... But in the last games against Kosovo and Northern Ireland the Greeks have scored 1 goal each... I wonder what will happen today...

Only 10 minutes have been played in this match and Greece is already leading by one goal. The goal was scored in the 8th minute. I think Greece is the better team in this matchup and they should win. This early lead in the match can prove to be very important for Greece.

Miller and Dussen has finished the game in their style. Miller showed his killer performance from the beginning, and Dussen played slowly to save the wickets. Eventually Dussen played a magnificent innings. He was at 30 runs from 32 balls after the end of 16th over. Then he showed his power from the start of 17th over and scored 75 runs from 46 balls. India has poor record in T20 against South Africa in their home ground. They lost 4 matches and won 1 match only in their home ground in T20.
This was really terrific from South Africa, not only because they won this match by chasing a good total but also because they still had 5 balls in hand and had just lost 3 wickets which means this match was like a cakewalk win for them. I understand that we are playing with Rohit, Rahul, Kohli and Bumrah not in the squad but still this is the best team India has and these players were star performer in IPL. Looks like South African players have got better hold of Indian conditions after the IPL.

It was a really great t20 match. Full of actions I have to say. I really did not think South Africa would be able to successfully chase the really big score which India put in front of them but they actually surprised me. They have done really well to chase down the big score and I have to say India choked a little bit. Hindi and it was actually comfortable for South Africa.

Good news for Pakistan as there young rising fast bowler Muhammad Hasnain is cleared to bowl in international cricket by ICC. It will be interesting to see whether Hasnain can bowl the same way he was bowling with his original action or not.

" Pakistan quick's elbow extension has come down from the earlier flex of 17-24 degrees to 12-13 degrees " https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/pakistan-news-bowling-action-mohammad-hasnain-cleared-to-bowl-internationally-again-1318697

It is obviously very good news for Pakistan cricket. Muhammad Hasnain is cleared to play for Pakistan and I believe this player will also play very well for Pakistan. I believe this player will be able to perform as he was doing without dropping the pace of his bowling. I hope he will also be able to maintain his accuracy.

Robert Lewandowski has once again and this time in a polish podcast spoken about his situation at bayern munich and as he admits he has already finished with this club inwardly
he said, among other things: 'After a road full of success and also what I gave of myself to this club, loyalty and respect is more important than business," he said. And he added with sadness: - I was not wanted to be heard after so many years. Something was extinguished inside me. And you can't make up for it, even if you are very professional. (...) I spent eight beautiful years at Bayern and I would like that to stay in my mind. Pride or hubris - no one wins on this.'

This whole situation in Bayern is quite strange. Lewandowski will probably end his career in 2-3 years, so he could safely stay in Bayern until retirement. He still has the current contract and instead of being happy that they want him so much, he starts to invent strange stories. I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a media game to somehow update his contract. Unless he's already secured some huge contract with another team.

In this case, I am going to support the player because if he feels that he is not respected enough in a team and he wants to move I absolutely respect that. In just becoming homesick and in that case, also I think he should move. I know that he could have stayed in Bayern Munich if he wanted to. But I guess he wants to face some new challenges before he is going to ends his career eventually.

According to the British Times, the official offer is around 25 million euros + 5 million in bonuses: If they win the Champions League. So it's just only a poker of the sum to be paid and mane will play in the coming season at FC Bayern. I think that is 99% save.

Liverpool reject £25m bid from Bayern Munich for Sadio Mané
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/liverpool-reject-25m-bid-from-bayern-munich-for-sadio-mane-vt9j8v903

For Mane, this transfer fee is really low. No wonder the offer was rejected. If Bayern München really want to make this transfer, they have to sacrifice a bigger amount of money. If the number increases, this transfer can take place. Mane will do well in Germany. The most important thing is, of course, what they will do in the Champions League. They are already expected to be champions in the Bundesliga again. Big transfers are not made for local success.

€25 million is an absolutely small amount for Sadio Mane. I really don't know how the player is not worth close to €50 million at least. He is going to have a big effect on whichever team he decides to go to and he is going to produce overall stats. I think he deserves way more than €25 million. Let's see if Bayern Munich continues their pursuit of this player.

Yes, I also agree that they should not have a problem finding new young players who will be able to become a good player after some time. I have to say the scouting of Dortmund is really great. But the problem is the management is not and eventually, they will lose that player also to a bigger team which will offer big money for that player. after all that is what we have seen from Dortmund year after year.

It is impossible for Dortmund not to lose the new players. Any young player planning a career leaves Dortmund as soon as they receive better offers. Dortmund should find a pilot team. A team that has prepared good players for Dortmund in the Belgian League may be suitable for them. Because after a period they will have a hard time finding good players.

I believe Dortmund really realizes that what they are doing is just good in terms of money. In terms of the legacy of the team, it is not good at all. They need to build a team that will attract better players. And the team also needs to be completing at the top level of football and just not think about existing at that level.

Dortmund should rather concentrate on being the average team they are and sell their star players all. They should stop making us to believe that they will give Bayern a fight soonest. I assure us that nothing new will happen in Bundesliga next season.  It is still the same show. The more and more you sell your good players without good replacement doesn't go well with any club.
I wish them success, they are good at producing talents for bigger clubs to sign

What's the point of building up a player who can be a great player potentially and selling them to better teams? I think that is not the way it should be. They should be a team that a player will think about playing for a long time. Any young player who dreams of playing professional football is not going to stay at Dortmund for long. Because to be honest Dortmund is not his dream team.

Did anyone watched the match between Namibia and Hong Kong yesterday (live stream on Fancode)? I found it quite entertaining. Namibia made 332/5 batting first and they put up 141 runs in the last 14 overs. Johannes Jonathan Smit made 62 from 39 balls and while bowling he picked up two important wickets. Hong Kong continues their downward spiral, and things have remained like that for them ever since Mark Chapman left for New Zealand. That said, I don't have any sympathy for them. After all these years, they haven't included a native player in the final XI. Such a team deserves to lose.

I didn't watch the match live. But I saw the highlights. Namibia's batting surprised me a lot. They scored 332 runs in 50 overs. I know Hong Kong air bowlers are not experienced. Yet it was beyond my expectation that the Namibian batsmen would bat so well. Especially as you said, in the last 14 overs they have collected more than 10 runs per over. Although it was not an official match. But if Namibia can continue with such performances, their players will become more experienced. And maybe in the future, we will see better performance from them.

Namibia did really well and they put up a very good score. and they did very well to defend the score also. They already had a very good advantage because of scoring such a high score in the first innings so the defending was a little easier for them. Hong Kong was under a lot of pressure from the start of the run chase and it was quite evident because they lost all the 10 wickets before they could play out the whole 50 overs. They tried to do well in the run chase but they didn't get even close. In the end a very easy win for Namibia of 67 runs.

Shouldn't this kind of rule apply to the countries which buy the players?
It applies but those players have not played any international matches and hence allowed to play without any restrictions. If countries like UAE or similar countries wanted to buy someone who played International matches, the same rule is applicable for them as well.

But the thing is if someone plays only one or two matches and gets dropped I don't think there should be a restriction for 4 years from playing for another international team. That obviously destroys a lot of careers. Already we don't have enough teams playing cricket in the world and these type of things happens regularly like cooling a player from another country to play for another and players getting restricted and not being able to play cricket. I think it is not good at all for cricket.

I took live Malta ML against San Marino @1.75 and now they're leading 2:0. Not bad, considering that pre-game odds for it was just 1.28.
In League A I expect that today finaly we will avoid upsets. Spain looks heavy favorites against Czech Republic. Portugalalso looks better than Switzerland probably.
In league B there is interesting game between two Northern neighbours Sweden and Norway

Malta won the match very easily in my opinion and they actually have played very well. They had control over the match and they maintained that control throughout the whole match. They played very well and in the end had a comfortable win by 2 goals.
Spain is obviously a better team compared to the Czech republic. And Portugal is also better compared to Switzerland. I don't think there is any doubt about these two matches.

Erik ten Hag really seems like he is renovating the team now. There are many players who are close to be sent away from the team. I think that he is doing the right thing by especially sending not very useful players from the team. Manchester United deserve to have a much more solid squad than now. Their starting eleven is still very good of course but it isn't quite enough I reckon. Because they have some weaknesses in especially their defense. If they find a solution for this then we would see a much better team next season.

Erik ten Hag is trying to do what the other coaches did not and that is lifting the mentality of the Manchester United players. To be honest Manchester United players are down bad right now. And it is obviously not going to be fixed unless there are some big changes in the team and he is trying to do exactly that. Obviously, I don't know if that is going to work or not but this seems to be a good step forward for Manchester United.

They will definitely find a replacement and it won't be too long.Dortmund is a club I've known for years, and they are very fund of selling their best players every season. So many good players today were at Bayern Munich, and the most amazing thing is how new one will emerge in less than no time.  So many players that were on this same Haaland level have been sold by  Dutmubd.players like Lewandowski, after him,Aubameyang emerged, after Aubameng,Haaland has emerged.Dembele of Barca,Mario Gotze and other high profile players are products of Durtmund,so definitely,we are expecting a new star now from there.
The Dortmund club find young talent, they can do this job very well. And they sell these talented players at a high price. But now I don't see any talented first-class talented players in the Dortmund squad. Maybe they are preparing funds to recruit new players this season. Otherwise, they will be without star players for the next few seasons.
Dortmund have earned a lot of money from selling haalaand to manchester city and i think they will use the money to look for some talented players who might be able to replace haalaand, so far dortmund have got some new players but sadly none of them are strikers, Dortmund which often orbits star players maybe it won't be difficult to find other great talents, besides that they have plenty of time to monitor the players they are targeting to recruit next year, I have no doubt that dortmund will definitely find new star  because they have been successful year after year so far.

We have to appreciate performance of Netherlands in last ODI. 308 was a big target and everyone was thinking an easy win for WI until Netherlands start batting. They were just 20 runs short, nonetheless this match will boost there confidence. As Netherlands is playing without there main players.

Don't want to be harsh on Netherlands, because some of their top players were unavailable due to county cricket duties. But at the same time, inability to win a single match, even while playing at home is not defendable. And that too against a team which lost a home ODI series against Ireland. Netherlands is the only associate nation that is included for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League. If they perform below expectation, then it will create issues not just for them, but for the other associate nations as well.

Well I honestly think that they have performed quite well considering that they are not a regular cricket playing nation. At least they don't play regularly against top teams. The performance could have been better but I think it was decent. And in the last match I actually thought they might be able to win. It was a really close match. Only if they had a few more wickets in hand. And I obviously don't think they have performed below expectation.
954  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 05, 2022, 04:13:40 AM
Logically no one would ruin their career of earning big money but the players who are the end of their career are always a target and all they need to share is local room strategy.
Makes sense, but the ones who are actually targeted are usually players who haven't been performing well for a long period of time and aren't popular at all. I cannot remember the last time a popular player participated in match-fixing.

It's easy to find such players in less popular leagues, but very difficult to find them in the IPL these days(Was possible during the initial seasons though).

Well, I don't agree with the whole idea that only less popular players are targeted for match-fixing. We have seen a lot of popular players also targeted by a lot of people but obviously, they haven't actually agreed to those people. And these people often target the players who are down bad. Generally, those are the players who are in need of money, which makes them easy targets for bookies.

Mbabbe was injured denmark started the 2nd half with the same squad, cornelius scored 2 goals and backed the team. In the last part of the game, he dropped himself to the ground, the referee called the medical team and stopped the time. After 4 minutes, the match continued and Denmark won this important match. Benza scored the first goal, Cornelius closed with two goals. What a match it was, but the result was unexpected.

Yes, the result was honestly unexpected. But to be honest I don't think anyone cares about this match because it is basically a friendly match. Denmark actually tried their best to win this match and hats off to them. They actually played really well and also to my surprise defended very well. I really think France actually took the match very likely and it is very evident when we look at how they have played in that match.

Jorge Jesus became Fenerbahce's new coach. Jorge Jesus wants Marcelo for Fenerbahçe. So I read that Marcelo was on Fenerbahçe's agenda.

Transfer work continues in Beşiktaş. Besiktas' transfer list includes Saiss, Trezeguet and Waghost.

Unfortunately, still there is no positive news for Galatasaray today.

Fenerbahce should do better as they have new authority now and if they actually are able to get Marcelo, I think it is going to be really great for the team.  A step towards the right direction I will say.

Besiktas is going to try to make some big moves in the transfer market. Their performance in the last season was not satisfactory at all and they will surely try to improve that.

Galatasaray also needs to make some changes otherwise it is really hard to think that they are going to play better.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: June 04, 2022, 11:37:09 AM
That's very much true. The way IPL matches were played at later part clearly tells the story but no one can dare to investigate that since its a win win situation for icc, bcci and rest of the cricket boards. The only way to recover so much money invested in IPL is through fixing.
You are one among many who make these claims on a regular basis in literally every IPL season. These claims are baseless since you cannot prove them which is why I don't agree with you at all.

Fixing has drastically dropped in recent years which is why it isn't as easy as you think anymore. Logically, fixing isn't really that lucrative anymore for the players if you think about it.

Why would they want to shoot themselves in the foot and possibly lose out on legit and high salaries by engaging in fixing? Think shill!

I agree because I don't see a way, why players will take a certain amount of money just to throw away their career! So, I think match-fixing is not an option for any cricketer right now who is playing in the IPL. I believe the only way fixing can happen in IPL is only if fixing is accepted by everyone and that is certainly not the case for sure. I also think that fixing has dropped in recent years. And when someone thinks that there might be fixing going on they cannot be biased.
958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: June 04, 2022, 05:13:29 AM
Players like Dirk Nannes made an impact in the IPL with his bowling performance which is an Netherlands player and Ryan ten Doeschate was another player who is really talented but never got many opportunities in the IPL for a full season.
Players from other countries can participate in county season in England and usually players refine their skills in these matches but other countries will not accept foreign players in their domestic season and it is a fact that playing in counties are an opportunity for the associate players.

What happened to Dirk Nannes is a perfect example. He got selected for Australia, and played one or two matches for them. And as per the ICC rules, someone who represents a test nation needs to wait for 4-years before he becomes eligible to play for the associate nation again. And there ended the international career of Nannes. I would rather blame the stupid rules created by the ICC. When Nannes was selected for Australia, there was no need for him to wait for even one day. But once he was dropped, he could no longer go back to the Netherlands. The same happened with Boyd Rankin of Ireland and Gavin Hamilton of Scotland as well. They played one or two matches for England, and thereby became ineligible to play for their respective nations.

Just because of these bullshitteries lot of players are being forced to end their careers. I mean there should be no reason why a player will have to wait for 4 years to play for his country which he was playing for in the first place.

Shouldn't this kind of rule apply to the countries which buy the players?

It should be more like if a team gets a player from another country they will have to wait for 4 years to get another. Back for some reason, the rule is not that. I think it surely will make more sense if the opposite happens.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: June 03, 2022, 06:35:43 PM
I think Real Madrid did not get the respect just because they didn't have a squad stacked with great players.
It was just bias. Most of the commentary was all siding with the English sides. Pundits such as Micheal Owen were just spewing garbage, and they still are to this date.

A squad having greats and Legends like Modric, Marcelo, Benzema, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Carvajal, Bale etc. can not be under looked. These players have more Champion's league trophies than some teams  Grin

How many such legends does Manchester City or Liverpool have in their current squad, for starters?

For some correction, I meant that great players that are still in their prime or at least close to it. How many of the players that you have mentioned are still young and performing really well on a regular basis?

Real Madrid did not get the respect that they should deserve against PSG. And you all know about the squad that PSG has. I honestly think they also did not get the deserved respect against Manchester City or even Liverpool.

A lot of people thought Real Madrid is just a team with old players. And for most of the players, their prime time is behind them, that is honestly true to some extent.
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Final! on: June 03, 2022, 09:40:58 AM
Well, I believe Liverpool played well but was really unlucky. Mohammed Salah had a few chances to score but the goalkeeper of Real Madrid was really good. And for those who are criticizing Mohammed Salah because of him not being able to score, I am quite sure that they don't know what they are talking about. And I don't think it was overhyped considering the fact that it was a Champions League final.
The truth is, English Media hyped all the English clubs and players that played against Real Madrid. It was very pathetic. You should have seen how the likes of Foden were being praised for being a much better upcoming players than Vini Jr (well at least Justice was served right, Vini Jr silenced all of them all the way to the Trophy)

Being a 14 times UCL winner, Real Madrid deserves some bit of respect and I hope it is a big lesson learned for the doubters.

Yes, it is obvious that the media had hyped up the final and they hyped up the win for Liverpool. And it is obvious why they did this because the English Premier League is the most competitive right now and that's why they will look for content. I honestly believe that both teams had an equal chance of winning in the Champions League finals. And after all Real Madrid was the better team. I think Real Madrid did not get the respect just because they didn't have a squad stacked with great players.
