941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Quiz] Answer the Bitcoin question and earn merits! #1 on: March 16, 2024, 09:14:32 PM
Question: The dominant mining pool, at the time of writing this, turns evil and uses its hash-power to reorg the chain. A customer of yours sends you a transaction. If you wait for 10 confirmations, what is the chance that the dominant mining pool successfully double-spends / reverses your transaction?

Cut-off date: 23/03/2024.
Foundry USA has 30.74% of the bitcoin total global hashrate. If he waits for 10 confirmations, he will have the risk of chain reorg reduced to 5.11%.
942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: March 16, 2024, 10:43:13 AM
I don’t know about the law being right or wrong. It’s certainly crazy that an activity that’s legal and allowed in a country cannot be talked about online. You could gamble all you want but talk about it online and face punishment of fines or jail term and in some cases, both.
I can understand the aim of the law to the general populace but if the law maker feels so strongly about gambling and all it entails, won’t it be better to put forward laws that would place stringent restrictions that would curtail gambling? Perhaps such strict laws won’t get enough support in order to pass.

Well, this would certainly help curb gambling online and greatly reduce its visibility to minors and young adults online.
Under 18s are online. You will see people advertising gambling online very well where children are visiting. That would be the reason for something like that was put in place. I like such country because they allow freedom and make adults to gamble but they should not advertise it which is something I see to be good. The government is not finding ways to reduce gambling but looking for ways it will not be talked about in the community which I think is not bad.
943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Paper Betting- Would You Consider it if you Were to Start Sports betting Again on: March 16, 2024, 10:36:30 AM
If you were to restart sports betting again, would consider learning first by betting on paper. This involves selecting 1 to 2 games daily and tracking the outcomes of your picks without wagering real money on a sportsbookie platform.
Quote
Paper betting refers to participating in sports gambling without fronting any money. The idea is to learn the ropes without actually risking real money.
https://www.bettingsite.org/blog/paper-sports-betting-what-is-it-what-are-the-advantages-11569/
It is just like demo trading. Would do it if you were to begin sports betting again or jump right straight into the real thing?
It is a waste of time. It is not even games that I do not know about but sport betting. I bet on sports that I know. That is why I prefer to just go for football. I know everything and what I need to go for without any demo. Demo is used by people that wants to know something but do not want to use their money to learn the thing. I know about sport betting and I can not go for paper betting.
944  Other / Meta / Re: Seasons of be inactive on: March 15, 2024, 05:21:30 PM
I observed that the reason why some active members became inactive in the forum is as result of lacks of campaigns
If someone wants to be in a campaign on this forum and not able to, that means the person is not a good poster. If the person earn enough merits and having quality posts, campaign managers will see them and take them. There was a time that mixers campaigns were limited on this forum just like this time that we have none and still many people are in campaigns. There are still many signature campaigns on this forum but just that good posters are the ones joining them.
945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Is Legal In Our Country But if You Promote It Online You'll Go To Jail? on: March 15, 2024, 01:59:06 PM
I think it is for the purpose to avoid exploitation of fake gambling social media bloggers, telegram groups and other gambling marketing affiliate that are all glutton to the pockets of gullible gamblers.
I do not think so because if there is no gambling ads and promotions, there are other means that scammers can use to scam people. Scam is inevitable. If that is the reason, also no ads or site promotions will be allowed. I guess gambling ads are not allowed because gambling is risky. The government prefer people to know it by themselves and not through ads and with this, children can not easily know about gambling sites.
946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is really unexpected on: March 15, 2024, 01:48:23 PM
I do not know what factors came into play or what you did differently in the January and in March but then it is a game of luck and I say a very big congratulations to you.
I will say he is just having his lucky time. We gamblers would have noticed lucky time in gambling. A time you will gamble but just win more than lose and be happy that time. The gambler can think he is better but he should not think like that because he can start losing at anytime. I have my days that I would win and think gambling is simple and I have days that I will lose and know that we should gamble in a way we should not be financially affected.
947  Other / Meta / Re: Why was my post deleted? on: March 15, 2024, 04:54:35 AM
So I created a post which mentioned a bot handled by this user in Telegram which allows for users to stay up to date on newly listed Raydium tokens and it was deleted? I do not see the reason why but is bitcointalk becoming censored now? Is this post going to be deleted as well?
You thought that Bitcointalk is not moderating scam and some posts could possibly lead to scam? Do not be frustrated that your scam post was deleted by one of the moderators. If you think here is a place you can easily direct people to telegram channel or group so that they can pay you money for your bot, know that you have failed. Look for other means to scam on this forum but you will fail. Go elsewhere to make scam attempt.
948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin becoming Legal tender on: March 14, 2024, 09:18:39 PM
I know El Salvador has bitcoin as a legal tender, but can only be used as a means of payment and transaction which also works in other countries.
El Salvador has USD as a legal tender. That makes bitcoin to be a legal tender in the country to be easy as they do not have their own fiat. But another country that makes bitcoin a legal tender is CAR and also an island in Honduras. Other countries can do the same if they want but they will prefer not to do so but prefer just on their fiat.

What do you think will be the fate of our Economy..?
Bitcoin is increasing in value. It will be better than fiat but other things has to be put in place so to make a good effect on the economy. Only bitcoin can not make the economy good.
949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is Online Crypto-Gambling Legal in a Country Without Gambling Laws? on: March 14, 2024, 09:04:31 PM
More than the laws, what matters is the culture of the country, how people were educated and how they follow their principles, so no matter how legal or illegal it is, if a person believes that it is wrong, they will not do it and there will be no law in the world that makes her change her opinion, in short, the cultural issue is very important.
This is not what OP is asking. He is asking why some countries only have laws for traditional gambling but not having laws for online gambling. But that is not possible. All countries have laws for gambling generally. Although you will see some citizens of the country that will gamble underground and using foreign sites to gamble despite that gambling is not legal in such country. I am referring to Muslim countries.
950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Minimalism in Bitcoin would slow your accumulation process on: March 14, 2024, 02:28:16 PM
The problem you're describing is all about greed. People who didn't buy as much bitcoin as they could back when price was in $20k-$30k range were greedy thinking price would fall down more. I remember the topics telling them (or rather fooling them) into believing price is going down as low as $15k so they waited and refused to buy.
That means they are very greedy. The reason I said that is because bitcoin still fall below $20000. I can remember that bitcoin got to $15500. That was in December 2022. But such people may still think that bitcoin price will continue to fall lower and their expectations may fall to bitcoin will fall below $10000. Even if bitcoin fall below $10000, they may not still buy and expect the price to fall further. Later they will be blaming themselves after the price increase. Bitcoin stayed below $16000 many days before it started increasing in January 2023 when bull run started at the time.
951  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Stay off any missed opportunity on: March 14, 2024, 01:17:12 PM
I know that most of us here might have experience such before, and have been used to clear liquidity in the past, but it's very important we learn from them, opportunities are countless in the crypto industry, what is required is just patience, just wait for another opportunity than to do anything that will make you lose money.
This suggestion is good, but there is still hope that bitcoin may get to $100000 and increase above that price. If bitcoin increase above that price, some altcoins that is for gambling will also still increase. I think to still gamble with altcoins can be good but it should not be for a long time as hugeblack said already. But patience is good, some people can wait until the market fall very well and invest. That will be a good time.
952  Economy / Lending / Re: In need of a loan (BTC or other crypto) on: March 13, 2024, 06:31:13 PM
This will only lead to a possible scam and nothing more than that. You account is new. You are not in any signature campaign. You have no collateral and you need loan. No one will be stupid to borrow you anything.
953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When is best for a player to draw the line? on: March 13, 2024, 05:49:55 PM
Usually I will stop gambling when I win 2x my deposit capital or usually I will withdraw my capital and leave a small balance to gamble again. I will also stop if my deposit runs out.
If you gamble frequently, can you always win 2x? It seems like it is not possible. Although we may have different strategies but me as a gambler, I lose more than I am winning. Sometimes I may win and think gambling is becoming simple for me that I am getting it, but later I will notice that I am losing more than I am winning. Recently I have the opinion that gambling is risky than we are even talking about and that makes me use just little amount of money for it because when thinking about winning, the results can be losses.

955  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Does Electrum not save the notes you type? on: March 13, 2024, 01:40:57 PM
I typed in a note inside the Notes tab of my Electrum wallet, and I was shocked to discover that when I closed and opened Electrum wallet again, the note was gone.
Do you have more than one wallet there? When you close the wallet, probably it opened another wallet for you after you open the wallet again. I am using Windows and I saved automatically and not deleted. I guess the error is from your end and not Electum. Not a bug.
956  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Google is the best tools to trade Bitcoin anonymously - only search the way to - on: March 13, 2024, 09:26:29 AM
Google is the best tools to trade bitcoin anonymously? This seems more like an irony to me. Use Google and Google will know most of your online browsing. Without paying money to Google, Google are invading your privacy. Yet Google remain the means that scammers are more able to scam people. When it comes to privacy and anonymous, do not use Google. Use Tor.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Man bet his life savings on 1 spin of Roulette on: March 13, 2024, 07:54:44 AM
I was able to watch this video before. The video is old and seems legit, but we cannot know for sure the true story behind this video. Could be for marketing or a real life story. If this is indeed a true to life story, it's crazy to bet all your savings for 1 bet, but then he is very lucky that luck was on his side and won his 1 bet.
You said the man is crazy but supposing he list, you will say that he is stupid. To me the man is stupid. How will someone bet all his live savings on gambling. I hope he will not have this mindset again as he won. What if he list? He may think of killing himself and he might even kill himself. People like to do things in a greedy way and not think of the consequences if it went opposite.
958  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is there a place for medical discuss? on: March 12, 2024, 11:54:13 PM
There is no medical board on this forum but I noticed serious discussion and politics & society boards are mostly used for it. If it is not about society (like covid 19 pandemic) that are worth to be on politics & society, you can post it on serious discussion board.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Get one btc right away or 5 btc with a bet? on: March 12, 2024, 03:16:03 PM
This is tempting and only greedy people will fall for this, especially people who think that gambling is a means of doubling their funds, such people will see it as an opportunity to grab 5btc with 1btc by gambling.
Just as I have said before, this is not just greediness. It is more than greediness. It is stupidity or foolishness or whatever a fool can be called. If I take 1 BTC, I can still take some part of it to gamble. Why would I just gamble with it all and likely lose it because 5 odds bet to take it to 5 BTC at once would be a very risky game and the chance that he will lose is high.
960  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taking beneficial chances where your enemies wants you to fall on: March 12, 2024, 03:10:43 PM
I don't think that is a benefit, you're actually in danger because your government is trying to restrict Bitcoin and it might ended up to ban Bitcoin. Since they know you're a Bitcoin holder, they might already own your Bitcoin information and they can do anything if they want.

Moving to another centralized exchange won't solve the problem except no KYC P2P or DEX.
You words are contradictory. You said they are already in problem and you later said they can use no KYC P2P or DEX. Government can not restrict bitcoin, they can only ban the centralized exchanges and nothing more than that. If they ban the centralized exchanges, people will go back to the decentralized exchanges. I think what Nigeria government is about is not banning cryptocurrencies but to tackle what is causing devaluation of naira more than the rate their central bank set it.
