941  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's better to provide Quality and not Quantity... on: November 16, 2023, 11:08:43 AM
What newbies might not know is that when you continue pasting shits quality inclined forum members quickly add you to their ignore list and these are members you're supposed to learn from their knowledge when they drop a comment on your post that could model and add to your little knowledge in the forum.

Quality post is not measured by how verbose and long your writing or the message you're send is. Reemphasizing same points, notes all over again in different strokes can be so boring to a reader. It's worth noting that you make your point simple and straightforward, what's important is the message not the emphasis.
942  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning]: Impersonation and spoofing of crypto related companies on Twitter on: November 16, 2023, 09:07:32 AM

Good that this website has been taken down and offline, but the criminals was able to run off initially with $50,000. And I felt sorry for those victims. So in any case that this kind of attacks resurfaces again, just be cautious though and check everything first before you go and click any link.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/fraudsters-make-50-000-a-day-by-spoofing-crypto-researchers/
This is a simple example of "don't be in a hurry when surfing the internet", Many times people fall into this impersonated sites similarity scam is mainly when they are in a hurry, not frugally paying attention to what they are clicking. They just assume since the site  has the letters they are familiar with so therefore it should be exact site they are clicking.

It's a pity a woofing $50k was lost by individuals to this scam before it was discovered , however, better late than never. For sure this action will continually surface which is why the caveat should be on us that targeted users be cautious, attentive, never get tired/bored of cross checking a site eaxh time you are to use/click on it if it's the actual site you intend to use.

Don't let laziness cause you your fortune.

Congratulations. Buy bonus work like magic many times. If I remember correctly, the buy bonus I used the first time while gambling gave me huge amount of money, not working for me like before and sometimes it may not be a huge amount won. But buy bonus is still one of the ways gamblers can win huge while gambling. I am not saying it can not lead to losses because buy bonus can lead to losses despite the chance to win huge amount of money is higher than not playing with buy bonus. But higher amount is also used for buy bonus which make the risk to be higher.
maybe you weren't so lucky in all of those times that's why it turned out the way it did for you, hopefully you could be fortunate next time again to get a bountiful win. Never say never.

Slot games are thoroughly based on luck and not how much you know about the games unlike sports betting, for slot you have to rely on luck and if it's not your lucky day yet in spite of how much you might want to be unperturbed by trying more you just keep losing more money. So when it's not your day it's just not your day.
944  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: [ECONOMICS] Yesterday's Price Nor Be Today's Price on: November 15, 2023, 04:01:12 PM
E get anybody here wey still dey budget? For X(formerly Twitter), some Nigerians dey recall the days wey Spaghetti na N100, Peak Milk na 80, small Loaf of bread na N50, a crate of egg na N100 and so on. But now, Golden Penny Spaghettin na N700, Peak Milk na 500, small Loaf of Bread na N350, a crate of egg na N2900.
Don't try to remind me about the good old days when we were young and life wasn't as hard as it is today. Back then, the money was to an extent hard to get but with value in the spending  howbeit today it's rocky to make money but easy and fast spending it because of how the value has fallen but the price of goods and services keeps skyping up.

Quote
The crazy tin for all of these things be say e never reach the limit wey be say, the price nor fit increase again. As e be now we fit by next week buy spaghetti at N1000 and even a crate of egg at N5000. Budgetting nor fit work at all because yesterday price nor be today's price at all. Abi e get anybody wey still dey do budget?

My pipo una fit help me with some strategies wey una dey use to take manage una self incase of buying. Even if you suggest bulk buying, where the money dey to take do bulk buying?
A general problem with merchandize in Nigeria is that they are too quick to increase price X2 of the the previous at every simple increment made by producer of a product but when same product price drops they don't act quick in dealing with consumers with the decreased price, and I don't blame them entirely, the government agency saddled with the responsibility of price regulations and control are sleeping on their duty to discharge punishment on offenders by taking bribes while the consumers pay for it all.

What I can advise is that, try and be doing over budgeting, because the price you bought a product last week would never be same price of the next two weeks there will always be a top up and that's how bad the reality of things in the country has become.
945  Economy / Economics / Re: How to survive hyperinflation? on: November 15, 2023, 11:35:00 AM
Gold is a store of value, but this will not make me invest in gold.
Yes, it's a store of value to retain the value of our fiat money not to lose value as a result of inflation of which gold is considered an anti-inflation hedge. Those in government sits may not agree with your choice cause in the financial market trust is everything and gold have that trust than bitcoin that have just existed yesterday.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5473902.msg63150189#msg63150189

It is better to invest in bitcoin.

I can invest real estate but I have little amount of money which will not make me not to do it. I prefer bitcoin.
For individuals with not much money to invest in real estate as it demands bastard sum of cash to kick start it, bitcoin can be a right choice to be invested in knowing how progressive the profit has been over the past decade compared to gold in profit.
946  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Gold vs Btc on: November 15, 2023, 11:15:26 AM
I couldn't believe this is true until I checked it myself.

https://goldprice.org/

Form that chart, gold was around $1900 in 2011 forth quarter. Gold price as of today is $1961.

It is better to buy bitcoin instead of gold.
For the main part gold is a get away from inflation affecting the value of our money in fiat. The point is gold has gained a global trust than bitcoin as it has exist over a century now as a store of value and government, institutions and individuals trust to keep the value of their money with gold than BTC that has just been around not quite long.

However, if you want to make an astronaut profit investment bitcoin is the big shot to go for, like imagine from 2011 to 2023 the profit in value is enormous for bitcoin while gold is just probably making sure it doesn't fickle down just moving very slow and steady.
947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 15, 2023, 08:12:01 AM
Just two questions here:
1. Dis the family of this young man went too extreme in trying to help stop their brother from gambling addiction or not?

What do you mean by "extreme" ? Remember, family will go to lengths just to help their members get away from an activity that can also potentially endanger their situation. Personally, there exist no such extreme measure when it comes to solving the addiction of a person if the end result would be benefit to everyone.

Quote
2. Assuming you are this young man and you had to run to a distant location to carry out your gambling as you are allowed to gambling within your neighborhood and luckily you won huge sum of million dollars. Would you share that money with your loved ones who were barring you from gambling or you will just stay off from them and live new found wealthy live alone?

I would definitely share it with them.

At the end of the day, my family members care about my life and livelihood as a whole. They will not attempt to stop my gambling activities if they know that I am being destructive in my lifestyle. Their intention is pure and good- they want me to stop and be responsible with my expenses, so it is natural for them to care.
Not a lie you could be correct, family is everything and when family are all out for you they can take on unspecified action just to salvage you from any nest that is deteriorating your personality in as much as the end result is of a positive impact.

I concur with your reasons to share to share your money with them. There's an adage in my local parlance that says "all what we're struggling for in life in anyway to make money is fixated on making family proud and taking care of family". Therefore, if we now made money and not let your family benefits from it then it's an error. Although some persons wouldn't care.
948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Start small and don't get tired of growing in the process. on: November 14, 2023, 08:48:30 PM
Many dreams that have stayed unactualized is not that the people were afraid to start they were afraid of failure. The phobia to fail in the in the midst of concomitant thoughts ringing in the head that you can't do it, you may not succeed, those voices are there to make us believe we are less of what we are.

And this is not just about the forum but life in general there are achievements we dare to achieve but we somehow grow a low self-esteem feeling making us look unworthy of that which we strive to achieve. Moreso, a lot of us are afraid of challenges forgetting that they are there to make us stronger and better in each we conquer along the way. And time is of the essence, whatever you fail to do today you may never have the chance to do it maybe after learning how it could have created a positive impact for you life.

949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ? on: November 14, 2023, 05:06:53 PM
What percentage of bitcoin investors are gamblers ?  Where will this figure be if we consider worldwide users ? I think it will be somewhere between 10-20% ? Also, it is possible that most of gamblers are still not bitcoin investors ? I see  less chances of the later happening.
I think only 5-10% of Bitcoiners is doing gambling. Why? Because of the fact that we are here for investment and we want financial freedom. We cannot achieve financial freedom if we qre into serious gambling instead of using every penny for nothing we save it fo us to be able to buy in the next dip. Investors has different mindset than gamblers.
this is just a guesswork the percentage you're giving and doesn't in fact represent or from a reliable data. There many whales that are gamblers and has nothing to do with their investment portfolio's, they conspicuously want to have fun and be entertained with an activity that can also fetch them money.

It' is when you're an irresponsible gambler gambling compulsively that's when you are heading to a pitfall of not having money to save for investment but if you're a responsible gambler you can adequately draft your finances, demarcate and allocate each proportion into what it has been planned for. Being a gambler is not an excuse for not investing for the future.
950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Avoid These Kinds of Scams on: November 14, 2023, 04:07:29 PM
These kind of scans are common and rampant and it take greedy fellows to fall for it when it is obvious that there's nothing like charity money in the internet, every money you are allowed access to you must have worked hard for it.

Common knowledge should detect this technique to you as a scam.  There's no free not minding the amount how much more 0.2btc. Any withdrawal process online that ask you to deposit a certain amount before you could be eligible to withdraw the total is a pure scam and we should learn to dislodge from joining/clicking unrecognized and suspecting groups/sites they are  the genesis of getting scammed. Lastly, strictly avoid doing kyc too.
951  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need your contribution and opinion on: November 14, 2023, 10:59:40 AM
I have a little knowledge but I need a guide. Bought some cryptocurrency like XRP and Bitcoin. Currently people only talk about Bitcoin but the price is very high for me to afford investing in it. I don't know why I feel like it's the only cryptocurrency worth investing and I would love to try  but am still learning gradually about it.
Is bitcoin price indeed that high?  Some of us that are bitcoin holders today if we were waiting for the price to slump down before buying some fraction  or acquire 1btc we wouldn't have bought till date because the price keeps  sustaining the growing value.

Placing side by side XRP to BTC  the risk is not worth it. Use the amount of money you have to start with bitcoin, accumulating in every step of the way in stead of investing on a project that the future seems clumsy and unfeasible it's better to go for that which is achievable even in a long term basis. Establish your thinking on the future and not what you are seeing now.

952  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it difficult for people to get capital easily? on: November 14, 2023, 10:05:57 AM
I came to discovered that, there are many opportunities all over the world for people to embrace by investing some huge amount of money on a particular business and start living a big man life in the country. I have been working hard to get capital to start my own business, so that I will have financial freedom to invest in BTC and any kind of business that will make me not to reduce to zero level in the country but I have worked with many companies but to save the money is the issue because of the disturb of my siblings which I love so much. I was in their shoes before when I was in school some years ago before I became a graduate, and anytime I made demand of anything from my elder brother and sister they must respond to me well by sending the money and food stuff when I was in school, and the day they refuse to respond to me, I will be seriously angry with them not to pick their calls or reply their chat at the moment until they look for way to solve my problem.
Human life is in stages you have to move from becoming a dependant to a stage where others now depend on you and this stage is referred to as the responsibility stage, a stage where money doesn't stand still in your hands as responsibilities both from family and personal needs are in constant demand for the money.

Being a student I never had understood well the weight of responsibility's my parents borne until it got to my circle after university got a job and reality was dawn on me.

Quote
How did you get your capital to start that business you are doing today? Or do you experience some things like this from your relatives, because to get capital these days is not easy for me, and there are some people all over the world looking for way to get this capital to start a good business but is not easy for them. Can you share your experience on how you get your capital.
Getting a capital is not that rosy you have to be convincing enough with your business plan how successful it potent to be on a scale of 1-100 before anyone can hand over huge sum of money to you as capital for your business. Same requirements if you go to any financial institution and you also have to use a collateral.

For people that are from a family with rich people, he can meet them to raise capital for his business that's if they are willing to support the ambition.
953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you leave gambling if your future wife/husband tells you to do this ? on: November 14, 2023, 09:25:03 AM
If she can supply all my needs, I will stop gambling because am doing it for money purpose which I know that if I make some money from my gambling, I will definitely stop it one day and focus with other business activities like the way some people in my area that made huge amount of money from their betting and established a big business that is bringing income daily. The only way my wife can stop me from gambling is to promise that she will be there for me with any amount of money I want, because I know that she will not be capable of doing that and I will continue with my gambling, and start looking for way to win something that will make her not to disturb me another day. Never you be addicted to gambling, because there is no way your wife can stop you not to be gamble because it has enter your brain and it can cause you so many things that will make you to regret why you are addicted to gambling.
There's no way a woman should supply all your needs for a man that you are except for an irresponsible that will sit comfortable while a woman be supplying all his needs. Dwelling in the mirage ambition of stopping gambling only when you get a huge sum win the result will be that you will never stop gambling base on how there's no assurance of getting a lump sum win in a game of luck.

Don't hang your dreams of opening your own business through money you are to win from gambling you can be disappointed in the waiting. Fine tone other means to make money as there are plenty of means you can make the kind of money you're looking forward to come from gambling.  The build up is that you can eventually get into addiction relying on gambling as a source to achieve your dream.
954  Economy / Economics / Re: 2,000 Years of Economic History in One Chart on: November 13, 2023, 10:12:22 PM
Looking at the chart, I don't think USA gdp will lose significant power in our lifetime, and consequently the USD. However,  other currencies,  specially bitcoin, might play a significant role in the future.
You chart alone explains it all that there were other world powers with significant GDP in those present time's but  were of course later succeeded by another nation sliding down to the USA. What makes you think the slide can't be conceivable in our generation.

There has been larger empires before the USA  yet power changed hand. Centuries previous the contention was predominantly for geographical occupation, in the 20th & 21s  century it's about nuclear power making any "change" a critical one the world have never experienced.

What role are you talking of and on the side of which polar would bitcoin be for since it's a decentralized currency Huh
955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What according to you should be the age to retire from gambling ? on: November 13, 2023, 06:52:26 PM
Indeed, getting old is not a problem, but they should recognize for themselves that they no longer need to gamble like when they were young. Times have changed, everything has changed, and they also have to change, especially now that they are elderly.

Gambling has nothing to do with age, as long as people can do it responsibly, no one need to retire at any age. Some old people may need recreational entertainment like gambling while they are also socializing with others. It happens in my place, there are still many old men (above 60 even 70) who like to gamble in some special moment/event. Of course I believe they do not do it for money, they just want to gamble and having fun with some other people. My grandfather (87 years old) is still gambling some time when he wants. I asked him why he does it, he answered like "just for fun and nostalgic".
I agree with you, gambling shouldn't b affiliated with age for age is just a number and retirement from gambling should depend on the individual's disposition with respect to gamble. Large number of old people that gamble is mainly to not stay bored as they as always left to stay alone at home when everyone has gone for work. They use gambling be it online or an in-house gambling medium to stay occupied.

For old people gambling can be helpful in creating happiness within them as they don't play particularly to win money like the young gamblers aim at. It's argued that most older people that have a hobby that they use in occupying their day putting smiles to their face tend to live longer than those of their age that always sit bored with nothing to catch fun with.
956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 13, 2023, 05:02:15 PM
Your parents are very rich and they have made a will while they are still alive Your parent is disinheriting you on the ground on one of the laws in our country about disinheritance that
Quote
When a child or descendant leads a dishonorable or disgraceful life;
because of gambling but they have not proven that you are a chronic gambler and you think you are a responsible gambler.

Do you have a case here on the ground that it is not proven that you are a chronic gambler and have not lost a fortune in gambling, can you appeal this case in court to make the will invalid and get your part in the inheritance?
I'll bethink myself against taking my parents to court in this matter for it's a wasteful exploit contemplating on charging them to court on whatever grounds you might be thinking you are going to win. why do you want to have a case with your parents when you can resolve your misunderstanding in a very calm and honorable way.

If your parents are so rich as you claim and with an inheritance that can change your financial and social status when share why not jettison gambling and align with them in the behavior they expects of you. You can engage in other activities that is completely not gambling but still deriving fun and entertainment from it if you're into gambling as a result of the entertainment.
957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports betting strategies on: November 13, 2023, 04:17:58 PM
I don't see anything wrong with your approach but upsets at the dying minutes are always a possibility like what happened in the Premier league between the Spurs and the Wolves. It's just one of those "it is what it is" moments that you have to accept and move on.

A lot of my live betting comes from an initial favorite team that's trailing in the first half where the odds of them winning the game increases significantly. They usually comeback stronger in the second but sometimes they don't. It's a higher risk with higher reward strategy.
Upsets in sports games are occurrences that we can't assume except by luck you're fortunate to have your prediction coincide with a sudden upset in the game. Another example of an upset setting in in a game is that match between Chelsea and Arsenal. The home team Chelsea were leading 2:0 in the first half only for Arsenal to come back in the second half to equalize 2:2 ending the game with as draw.

On a norms a gambler betting on a live game will bet in favour of the team leading by 2 goals addition to the advantage of  being a home team too but in the course of the game an upset took place which canceled the home team winning score.

Usually there are factors that can invite an upset in a game, factors like coach making a wrong substitutions, key players' getting injury that forced him/them out of the match, and lot of others that we can be familiar with.

958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 13, 2023, 03:32:54 PM
She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles.
Actions that had reached beyond the limits of the young man began to receive a negative response from his family because his addiction level had reached a high level. The personal items he sells to cover his gambling activities have attracted the attention of his family, especially as his emotional level continues to rise when he has no money to gamble. There are many ways that families can do to reduce their brother's level of addiction, they can take him to work or do other activities to reduce the time for the young man to gamble.

So what he family did was to print a photograph of him and giving it to all the gambling shops within their neighborhood and around the locality, threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.
His family had acted unreasonably if they discovered their brother was gambling and then took the owner of the gambling place to court on the grounds that he was supporting his brother to become a compulsive gambler. The reckless actions that the young man's family will take are very baseless.
Firstly, the owner of the gambling place did not specifically invite the young man to gamble at his place, secondly, the young man had his own desire to gamble. In this case there is no reason to sue the owner of the gambling place because the actions the young man took were of his own free will.
just want to know if you have had any person that's a compulsive gambler. With a first hand experience you would have been careful with your words  in establishing that the family acted unreasonably. Having someone you care for as an addict whether to gambling, hard drugs etc, can be so frustrating that you will dive at any possible chance to restrain him from that which makes him an addict.

At that moment it's what works for you that will be counted reasonable and not what outsiders think to be reasonable for all what you're aimed at is a solution to end the cancerous addiction and I think that was what led to the family to swing into such act. If suing a gambling shop that still allows their brother to gamble in their shop will serve as deterrent to others and also ameliorate issues then for them (the family) it worth it.
959  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 12, 2023, 11:02:25 PM
She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles.
This is so ironical. While many people are gambling dreaming about acquiring enough money to purchase properties and gadgets, this man is selling his in order to gamble... He is going on the exact opposite way he should. Since he already has properties, he should care for them and make them work for him to generate profit and prosperity in his life. Instead, he is wasting everything on gambling, and for what reason? That seems so sick and pointless!
Gambling addiction is in divers parameters that when you come around some compulsive gambler whose addiction is so intensive you may wonder if they are cursed as a result of how they acting in the opposite direction with their gambling habit.

Just in similar manner some drug addicts behaves in selling their properties to have cash to buy drugs to satisfy their urge that's in same manner some gamblers exercise their addiction too.  Gambling can be an activity for leisure and calm down from stress and at same time it can be harmful if we are not watchful of how we manage our gambling life.
960  Economy / Gambling discussion / A gambler's family action. on: November 12, 2023, 09:45:42 PM
During the weekend I was listening to an evening programme from one our the local radio stations they were discussing about gambling, the effects and how to manage it if you might be struggling with  addiction. And they had listeners calling in to share personal experiences or of a loved one that gambles and amidst many callers there was this very caller story that caught my interest and curiosity.

She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles.

Now, while I was quietly listening to the story in my head I began to ask myself several possible  questions and one of such questions was; is it not possible that this young man can take a cab away from their location and move to a far area to carry out his gambling since his a compulsive gambler.

Just two questions here:
1. Dis the family of this young man went too extreme in trying to help stop their brother from gambling addiction or not?
