941  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2024 price prediction on: January 07, 2024, 07:47:31 PM
The year of 2024 has been initiated and its an year for which crypto investors were in wait because during present year halving will take place which will turn the worth of bitcoin to all the time higher worth. There is a probability that very soon we will see 50k$ because we are not very much far from 50k$. Everything can happen in crypto market therefore if ETF approval happens then probability will increase and bitcoin will go above 70k$ but the price of 50k$ is not hard these days as bitcoin is increasing day by day in its worth.

The way the whole crypto space is depending on the SEC to approve the ETF makes me wonder if this doesn't happen what will become of the price movement because I know with my little knowledge that the SEC and EFT approval has been something of ON and OFF and still yet all these years the price value has gone up even without them approving the ETF so am being optimistic but I do have it in mind that this year, Bitcoin is certain to touch 60k++
942  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Does Bitcoin need advertisment? on: January 07, 2024, 07:42:21 PM
With the way the matter of Bitcoin don be now, e no even need someone to advertise am because only the good things wey people dey benefits the story go clear road for the kind of news wey go lead to many people knowing about Bitcoin. And you know talk lie sef about this crypto ban something because I remember say I bin day teach for one secondary when this matter come up and believe the curiosity wey people come get and I mean people wey no even sabi about Bitcoin come dey serious to find out watin the thing be and na so many people come later get the understanding sef and maybe love for the Bitcoin if them come actually know the truth for the whole matter about the restrictions between bank and Bitcoin for transaction.
943  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit decay on: January 07, 2024, 07:30:54 PM
<…> Is it a good habit to allow one's sendable merits to decay?
sMerits don’t decay to date. The warning shown when sending them is meant to incentivise people to move them into circulation, but not even the airdropped sMerits given to accounts when the Merit System kicked-off during January 2018 have decayed in any manner (those would be my first candidates to do so in the event of pondering sMerit decay).

Hmm, interesting well this clear my doubt because I have been quite curious too on the notice I always see when trying to send out smerits and it made me wonder if actually this was true because like you said I have seen account which are way old to the time of the airdrop merit at the implementation of the merit system wake up suddenly and start giving merit to profiles here and in the community. I just taught if this was actually true then alot of those won't have their sleeping smerits active to actually send out.
944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you willing to bet $50 spin for a chance to win $42 million? on: January 07, 2024, 07:19:54 PM
This thread is inspired by the thread created by sportsbet.io about a lucky bettor who won $42 million on a $50 spin.

So let's discuss. This kind of win can be compelete considered based on luck, and the winner is so lucky that he hit the Jackpot. However, since the goal here is $42 million and you can only win that if you would bet $50 for one spin. So, do you have the courage to do that?
I think that's depends on the type of gambler you are, I say this because in my years of gambling and experience I have come to notice that some gambler are of different league than others meaning they actually have the mind and courage to take some stupid risk that any normal gambler won't. Well if this case was for me then I think I won't gambler all the 50$ because the possibility of me winning that jackpot is like one in hundred and I will feel better when I have split the 50$ and given my more chances at Winning something other than go all out in one spin.
945  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin the best place for retirement savings. on: January 06, 2024, 10:01:46 PM
Me I fully support wattin the op talk oo, because if at all say person na just 10 years e get before retirement  and e come start to dey save money for bitcoin before that person go retire e go done experience 2 halving, and that one alone na better profit the person go get after e use better DCA take accumulate for month by month. By the time wey the person go done finish em work don we go get better profit wey e fit use take do something for e life. But if that person say na for our naira e wan dey keep that same amount for DCA every month for em bank, that person go come back after the 10 year come observe how the fiat currency don drop value finish.
The knowledge wey we get now about Bitcoin na one wey person no fit even carry money learn and one thing wey make me like this forum well well and another thing again make we no forget say this matter of saving your money Bitcoin no be easy something oo because we all know the way money be and also the way Bitcoin saving dey and also the risk of where the person save him investment on. To start investment for Bitcoin never finish oo, na to follow up the investment and also security measures because so many people don lose their Bitcoin investment wey don dey for long because of so many nonsense issues like wallet security and also lack of determination and will power too but all the same sha na only person wey get the sense go know say saving your money for Bitcoin e better pass to save am for your normal fait currency.

.

If you want to make a quick profit from crypto leverage trading on this highly volatile asset, one of the best ways to make those profits is to multiply your holdings in just a few minutes. If you also want to lose it all, crypto leverage trading is the best place for you, as you can also lose everything with the blink of an eye.
One can even call it gambling and most especially the virtual sports game where you lose all your money in a matter of seconds. Just like you stated, everyone has their different approach to controlling their asset not everyone can do the hold till eternity game because some many crypto or Bitcoin users tend to prefer to double their holding quickly and make go with the profits they have earn knowing fully well the high risk involved.
947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the high fee affecting the rate of adoption of Bitcoin? on: January 06, 2024, 09:26:49 PM
With the recent spike in Bitcoin transaction fee, it's evident that these fluctuations are significantly impacting the adoption rate of Bitcoin.
Bitcoins has widely been advertised as an asset to invest in, that is to buy and keep and that is what is attracting many people to it as investors. Many of these investors do not yet see Bitcoin as a currency to transact with daily so they are not worried or have to be bothered about the high transaction fees that will be a big discouragement to people who use bitcoins as currency right now. Adoption of bitcoins is still happening and will keep happenning as more seek for what to invest in, and the best investments to have asides properties (real estate).
No doubt that Bitcoin adoption is still ongoing and I also understand that the major cause of this is because of the investment opportunities that people see Bitcoin as, well I still say that this high fees still hinders that part too although if not all then a little portion of the adoption because just image a situation where I want to buy Bitcoin and hold it and I obviously use an exchange to buy and accumulate then I will be needing to send the coins out right? So in trying to send my coins to an exchange and I pay this type of high fee don't you feel I will be discouraged or try to find an uteriour next time.
948  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does inactive users deserve merits? on: January 06, 2024, 07:26:45 PM
There have been some good and quality posts that I've come across why navigating through the forum and I found out that some of the users have been inactive for a very long time but the posts they've made deserved merit, so is it advisable to merit the post(s) of a user(s) that have been inactive for a long interval of time considering the fact that they made Meritable posts?
I think the whole essence of the merit implementation on the forum was to give quality posts a thumps up(merits) so even if the user has been inactive for some time it really doesn't matter because it's the post you are meriting not the users although given out of merit have turn out to be someone sentimental IMO. I have also seen some quality posts of individual that have been barred due to one or two errors that they refuse to take to correction but I always wonder of it will be good to merits these posts base on the fact that they have been ban but on later the mentality changed because the merit is actually given for Worthy posts .
949  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ? on: January 06, 2024, 07:17:02 PM
Anyone here who retired with Gambling winnings ?  If not, how much you think is sufficient to retire as Gambling winning ?
It's like you don't gamble much because I really don't understand the question, because if you have actually tagged a specific amount you will walk out with as your deserved reward then I think it's a joke because you don't plans these things and besides I have never ever once heard someone talk about such thing before and that's because it's difficult although some luck bastard might have hit a huge win but retiring with the win is the actual problem. Besides why would you retire when you know you can always go back and play for the fun of the games well you can retire if only you play for the winnings alone.
950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 05, 2024, 02:42:14 PM
I think it's very hard to focus on how much you're going to lose gambling. Everyone likes to imagine how they're going to win. If it were the other way around, no one would gamble. Discipline is the most important thing in gambling. If a gambler is disciplined, he will not be hindered by the fact that he dreams only to win.
You hit the nail on the head 💯💯. Why would anyone even have the mentality of thinking of how they will lose, I mean I get the point the OP is trying to say but I am pretty sure no ever reasons to that part and I know for sure that once the gambler is responsible in his part of gambling then everything is actually fine. Most person's let their urge to win cloud their judgement during their time of gambling and that's why they always ending being at the wrong side of the gambling table that's if you know what am relating at😊😊, just be responsible with your winning mentality and you will be good to go.
951  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 05, 2024, 02:34:10 PM
Hopefully it won’t get approved. Institutionalized bitcoin will be useless to the masses. It will be censored and fully KYC’ed which is no different than the CBDC’s. Bitcoin should be censorship-free and provide some privacy. If these features are removed from btc, it will be just another government currency. I don’t care about the price. You can’t name a price for freedom.

It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one feeling this way.  Bollocks to the Wall Street and Hedge Fund crowd.  They don't matter.

Most of the hype is from people who care more about their fiat profits from trading than they do about the long-term future of Bitcoin.  I don't care in the slightest if they end up disappointed if the SEC end up doing the same thing they've done before and reject everything at the last minute.
Yeah that's true, because this rejection is something that has been going on since I don't why if the sec rejects this time own any difference will be made. So many people are tied down to the opinion that the sec must approve the ETF if not something going happens but am surprised because even without the sec approval of the ETF Bitcoin has been growing and reaching new height so my expectations to this approval is way down to the minimal and it's not gonna make me sell off coins that I hodl although many new and anxious HODLers will think different in respect of this sec and ETF approval saga.
952  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IMPORTANT! Always check your Seed twice. on: January 05, 2024, 02:21:33 PM
Unless you have been a victim of writing the wrong word of a Seed down or the incorrect order of it, you do not know how frustrating and desperate such a mistake can make you feel.

When creating a new Seed, always double check its validity.  Not only by writing it down and double checking it with your own eyes.  To me, even if the Wallet checks two or three words, it means nothing.  There could always be an error and I try to minimize it.

The way I do it is as soon as I write down the Seed, I close the Wallet, then re launch it and use the Restore option.  Enter the Seed from the paper I just wrote and go from there.

I wrote words in the wrong order before and at first glance it looked right.  Next time I had to restore my Seed from my paper, it said it was wrong.  I got desperate for days, until I tried to swap the word with the previous and luckily it did work for me.

Check your Seed twice.  Do not be lazy.
It's like you actually saw what happened to me  Grin because I have faced this kind of situation and just like you stated it, I even wrote the phrase down but didn't do a back check to confirm if the words are correct enough although at the first import of the phrase, I actually was minimizing my phone and checking the phrase I wrote on keypad and inputting it to the space on the wallet and after the wallet was successful created I wrote it down but unknown to me that the words I wrote down were not in the same order(spelling) and later found this out when I actually changed my device to which my wallet was and in puting the phrase to this new device the error of wrong phrase keep popping and believe it was like a nightmare I wouldn't want to relive so I tried changing some of words and luckily for me, it was a misspelled word that was the case for my own.

so doing a double check on seed phrase is something that worth it, you never can tell what error you might have made #dontbelazy
953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: January 05, 2024, 02:09:11 PM
I wanted to discuss a thing that I noticed for a long time but didn't ask.
Sometimes I notice that some people replace their transactions with fees like 1000 sat/vB even though the recommended fee was around 100 sat/vB. Their previous fee was already enough to include their transaction on a block but it was waiting to be included in a block. But the person keep bumping it from 500 to 600 sat/vB and then 600 to 1000 sat/vB. Should I call them dumb people?
For example, look at the image below  Cheesy

Dumb people, I don't think so...
Considering the mechanism of Bitcoin transactions is based on next block confirmation is given to the highest bidder,  it's actually a smart way to ensure high fees are maintained...if anything this whole Ordinals spamming the network could be a smoke screen in my opinion.. What if miners were involved in artificially pumping of transaction fees to make some money while the business is lucrative Tongue I know  this could be an unpopular opinion but mining isn't cheap for starters and this is one possibility to pay themselves while they can !!

Besides if this was something like beginners mistakes, why doesn't this happen with other blockchains which have far cheap tx fees ??
Grin Grin hmmm, interesting point there although I know the fact or base to what you are trying to say might be wild but I think a fraction of believe can still be associated to this thought of yours, well atleast that's from my angle. But this issue is really getting out of hand and I think in no time we will see another wave of this nonsense again and yet nothing has been done by the so called Bitcoin developers because I believe the issue has been deliberated and an open discussion has going on for these said developers to actually come up with a way to actually trash the issue at core point.
954  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin Journey in Nigeria, what Next on: January 05, 2024, 02:01:32 PM
Even before the ban on crypto by CNB government police dey arrest people and surprising seeing comment like police no arrest people, I made this post and I did little research concerning the ban on crypto 2021 and even before the ban a lot of young people got harassed by the police and even when the ban came police used the opportunity to make more money and they only arrested crypto users because of the money, any person caught will be arrested and for the person to be released money must be involved, so looking at the Nigerian police action during the ban, they only did that for money sake. https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN2I10UI/
Even with the ban the population increased the more cause Nigerians used the trading of crypto to make money and the decision of the CBN never affect them, looking at the first paragraph of the link, the guy went back to trading after the arrest, they used other platforms for exchange like Binance.

I understand your point but watin me I dey try talk be say this stupid and nonsense arrests of people no even start as dem ban Bitcoin or crypto related transaction, the thing dey our system since and moreover we all dey aware of the way boys been dey do yahoo and dem come relate am to Bitcoin and na watin really cause the massive wrong view towards Bitcoin in the Nigerian society. And moreover even for the tori wey you drop, dem put am say the boys still go back to their normal trading and maybe change alternative to get access to their funds and my point be say if this arrests been rampant during the crypto ban then many people for no even near bank go collect their blocked funds wey dey seize for their bank account.

But notwithstanding I don see your message and get your point, Nigerian police very much utilize the opportunity to their advantage and make more of it wen e come to collection of free money and harassment because na waiting dem sabi dat.
955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you gamble on Bitcoin ETF approval results? on: January 05, 2024, 01:44:05 PM
Well this kind of bets is somehow like the bets on who is gonna win the league or cup at the beginning of every football season although this one is somehow manipulative and I don't think I will gamble and wait that long besides where is the fun is this type of betting. I rather bet on soccer games and even the soccer games, it will be the one that's played after the 90mins because even waiting on the league to be finished is still rather boring moreover how do you even think the odds will be set because I don't see bookmakers given the type of prediction big odds to bet on.
956  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoin Journey in Nigeria, what Next on: January 04, 2024, 09:32:30 PM
Federal Government of Nigeria ordered the central bank of Nigeria CBN to ban all the cryptocurrency related services in the country in the year 2021 and this has been a discussion among the cryptocurrency enthusiasts though the banned didn't affect them that much because they were all using peer_to_peer(p2p) transaction system. It was restricted from using public service like bank and cryptocurrency related statement in the public space.
And based on the restriction, many were arrested because they violated the restriction law, police arrested some people across the country yet Nigerian youths were agitating and insisting to adopt bitcoin in the country and finally, the newly elected president Tinubu, in the month of November asked the newly appointed CBN governor to accept cryptocurrency in the country, and there was a mini jubilation in the cryptocurrency ecosystem world in the country.

Therefore, now that the long waited expectation has come, what is the next thing to do in the country concerning cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency is not yet a legal tender in the country, so many businesses are still lagging behind, what's the next step now?
Well for starters I would like to clarify that there was no such case of arrest well not one that I know of, I think the CBN actually just closed all bank account that was tightly connected in transacting with crypto and I know this because my friend zenith bank account was aslo closed down and his was even carrying some significant amount of money on it but the money was retrieved though as he actually went to the bank for complaint, they simply ask him to provide another account of his bearing same name and the funds was directed to that other account with of his.

Well for now I don't think any updates have been implaced yet as the news is still sounding sudden to many Nigerian and also to the fact that many are aslo being skeptical about the whole issue for a start but I believe in due time we will all see updates and different outcome to the news concerning the uplifting of this ban.

If it's on the case of Nigeria actually making Bitcoin or any crypto a legal tender,  well I would call that a very wild dream and besides the technology to handle all this is not yet put in place but for now I think the only positive news will be the comeback of many crypto firm or organization that left due to the ban but even at that it will still take some time before the effects starts showing off.
957  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why some newbies dey quick lose interest for the forum?? on: January 04, 2024, 07:32:53 PM
My brothers and sisters for this kajad cabal I greet una and happy new year to all of us. I say make I table this matter for here and if say person don discuss this mata, my apologies as I no see any of such nature before I bring this one up.

958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 04, 2024, 07:27:38 PM
I only gamble on Tuesdays unless on occasions where I want to go out of my way, that is when I gamble Tuesdays and any other days of the week, and sometime I can go a month without tasting a win, but since I already understand my gambling pattern,  I take that as one of those times and hope that I will be lucky to make winning in days ahead.

So for that, I can not say how often I make winning or record losses,  but sometimes when I also lick I make wins continuously and may believe that I record more winnings than losses I check carefully and put all records in place.
Well for me, I don't actually gamble on a specific day and also don't have any records of my winning and losing to which is more but I can say I do have my fair share of winning days mainly on a Saturday and that's because the most games are played on Saturday well atleast most of the top Europe leagues and that's my area of betting. I normally place my game on premier league teams and I do bet on other sports too and also whenever I feel it because actually tagging a specific day for my betting habit won't actually work out because most of the games I like playing is scatter round through out the week.

960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 01:01:43 PM
The other day someone was talking about how he hates gambling as it nearly ruined his life, and within my mind I was like, no it was not gambling that nearly ruined you it was actually you that tried to ruin your life and that's because you refused to gamble responsibly and discipline yourself by not been capable of differentiating money meant for gambling from money meant for other projects in your life.

Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?

One thing about this issue is that no one ever knows that they are actually commiting an error by themselves until it's late. Gamblers are always found of blaming the game and the system where as the real cause is themselves, I could remember back then when the habit wanted to get a hold of me, it was by God grace and weeks and days of proper self discipline that actually saved me from becoming an addict and also my wife was also an instrumental figure that helped me from the crooked illness of mindless playing of gambling.
